JAAS login module configuration in Oracle application server

I have a LDAP login module implementing javax.security.auth.spi.LoginModule. This login module works well with tomcat and weblogic, if I configure the JVM arguments -Djava.security.auth.login.config and -Djava.security.policy to pont to the login.conf and access.policy files. The login.conf file has the below content
FREEWAY_SERV
com.wipro.freeway.security.LdapLoginModule required debug=true portal=false;
FREEWAY_PORT
com.wipro.freeway.security.LdapLoginModule required debug=true portal=true;
The application uses these login modules by passing Name of the JAAS configuration (FREEWAY_SERV or FREEWAY_PORT).
I would like to use the same login modules and code in Oracle application sever 10.1.3 and I haven't got any success yet.
Could anybody please help me to get this right?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
in OracleAs bet is to use Enterprise Manager to configure the login module. The LoginModule needs to be configured in the system-jazn-data.xml file, which is located in teh j2ee/home/config directory of the OC4J you use. Enterprise Manager does this all for you.
In your application deployment the orion-application.xml file needs to specify that a custom LoginModule should be used. Again ENterprise Manager does it for you.
To use the LoginModule e.d. for J2EE authentication, just make sure that the application name of the J2EE deployment matches the name of the LoginModule configuration
If you want to use pure JAAS you may have to change the OC4J properties file in the j2ee/home/config directory. Best suggestion to give is to get the online documentation for OC4J security

    The access.policy file has contains content like below:
    grant Principal com.wipro.freeway.security.RolePrincipal "UserAdministration" {
         permission com.wipro.freeway.security.URLPermission "/createOtherUser.frw";
         permission com.wipro.freeway.security.URLPermission "/createDealer.frw";

    I would like to use the same login module and code in Oracle application sever 10.1.3 and I haven't got any success yet. I am not getting how to set these JVM properties and make my application identify this custom login module. I have tried configuring the custom login module via oc4j admin console and I couldn't give a name to my configuration. I also set the system properties for
    -Djava.security.auth.login.config and -Djava.security.policy with no success.
    Could anybody please help me to get this right?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
    In OracleAS 10g R3 (10.1.3.x) you can register your login module in your application (and server) using Enterprise Manager, and config file. That is easier and more flexible that the parameter.
    I would invite you to take a look to the security how-to:
    - 10.1.3 How-tos, and How to integrate a custom login module
    You can also take a look to the 10.1.3 Documentation and the LDAP/Login Module integration.

    Hi all,
    I've found a solution to this problem. So far I've been trying the installation through MSTSC by taking administrative control (through /console option). Later, I tried my luck by installing it through Net Meeting which proved to be successful.
    Hope you can try the same and ged rid of the installation issues.

  • Oracle application server 10.1.3.1.0 install - JAVA error

    Hi Everyone,
    I am trying to Install Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1.0 on 32 bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.8 (Tikanga)
    When running the Installer, I use the -ignoreSysPrereqs option because 10.1.3.1.0 is only supported with Linux Server 4, I believe. But I know people have installed it on Linux 5.7 and 5.8
    anyways, Oracle application server gets installed and asks me to run root.sh. I run root.sh and then hit the OK button to proceed,
    At this point, it tries to run the configuration assistant and fails right away with the following error:

  • Custom JAAS Login Module 9.0.4 configuration problems

    Hello,
    We have created a custom JAAS Login Module on OC4J 9.0.4 and are having some sort of configuration problem

    The Login Module is configured for a specific deployed application in the global jazn-data.xml and is being run as I have attached a debugger to the app server.
    Our authentication process succeeds and we return a "true" from the login() method. No exceptions are thrown from our Login Module.
    our ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/home/config/jazn-data.xml has this added
    <application>
    <name>helloworld</name>
    <login-modules>
    <login-module>
    <class>com.test.JaasLoginModule</class>

    The j2ee/home/application-deployments/helloworld/jazn-data.xml looks like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone='yes'?>
    <!DOCTYPE jazn-data PUBLIC "JAZN-XML Data" "http://xmlns.oracle.com/ias/dtds/jazn-data.dtd">

    <property name="custom.loginmodule.provider" value="true"/>
    <property name="jaas.username.simple" value="true" />
    </jazn>
    Are we missing anything? Our code runs, it seems like there is something lacking in the configuration on the OC4J side of things.
    Anyone know what we are missing?
    Thanks....

    Hi,
    if you are on 9.0.4 then <property name="custom.loginmodule.provider" value="true"/> shouldn't work because its a parameter of 10.1.3

  • Configuring Oracle Application Server to use a user friendly url

    Hi All,
    I am having trouble configuring the apache httpd.conf file within an applicaton server to be able to use user-friendly urls for the infrastructure identity management tools server. I also need this for security reasons as well as hardware reasons - loadbalancing.
    At the moment I have a standard setup, whereby the sso application server is using port 7777. I would like the user not to enter the port, but to enter just a standard url, like http://login.<company>.com.au, so that if the user needs to modify oid using the oiddas web application, they can enter something like http://login.<company>.com.au/oiddas/ rather than http://<machine host name>:7777/oiddas/. This would also be used by portal for sso logins.
    From the standard installation, Apache was configured as follows:
    Port 7777
    Listen 7777
    ServerName <machine host name>
    DocumentRoot <root document folder>
    Now reading the documentation from the Oracle Application Server Installation notes for the Http Server, they document how to do this (in the loadbalancer section - this will eventually be used in the hardware setup):
    Port 80
    Listen 7777
    Listen 80
    # Virtual Hosts
    # This section is mandatory for URLs that are generated by
    # the PL/SQL packages of the Oracle Portal and various other components
    # These entries dictate that the server should listen on port
    # 7777, but will assert that it is using port 80, so that
    # self-referential URLs generated specify www.oracle.com:80
    # This will create URLs that are valid for the browser since
    # the browser does not directly see the host server.oracle.com.
    NameVirtualHost <machine ip>:7777
    <VirtualHost <nameofmachine>:7777>
    ServerName login.<company>.com.au
    Port 80
    </VirtualHost>
    # Since the previous virtual host entry will cause all links
    # generated by the Oracle Portal to use port 80, the server.company.com
    # server needs to listen on 80 as well since the Parallel Page
    # Engine will make connection requests to Port 80 to request the
    # portlets.
    NameVirtualHost <machine ip>:80
    <VirtualHost <nameofmachine>:80>
    ServerName login.<company>.com.au
    Port 80
    <VirtualHost>
    Note that I used slightly different names for the url's rather than the oracle names www.oracle.com and server.oracle.com
    Now after applying this, I noticed not only could I not go to the oiddas from the original machine name, but also couldnt go there from the new machine name.
    Also I was not even able to go to the standard index page whereby you can go to the enterprise manager for the application server, from either names.
    The following urls provide me with "The Page Cannot Be Displayed" error message:
    http://login.<company>.com.au:7777/
    http://<nameofmachine>:7777/
    The following urls provide me with "Page Under Construction" error message:
    http://login.<company>.com.au/
    http://<nameofmachine>/
    Could someone please tell me why this is the case, considering I am using the installation procedures Oracle has published within the Oracle Http Server Admistrators Guide (http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/web.1012/b14007/netconf.htm#sthref379).
    Cheers
    Rodney

    Hi Rondey,
    Ik think that I can see your probleem.
    Just change the following line at your httpd.conf, then restart the component.
    First of all if the port is installed with nr. 7777. then the listen process will be on port 7778
    the second thing is just try to do the following steps
    ((Port 80 to Port 7777)))
    Listen 7778
    %%%% In loadbalancer section %%%%%%
    just add the following lines
    Listen 80
    Listen 8103
    Listen 8102
    NameVirtualHost *
    NameVirtualHost *:8103 or 80
    If you want to use this ports (8103 or 8102) for other site (url), then
    <VirtualHost *:80>
    ServerName <machine ip> or (host name)
    Hear from U,
    Regards,
    Hamdy

  • Configure JAAS login module stack to support x.509 certificates without SSL

    I want to use x.509 certificates for authentication against a EP 7.0 but I don’t want to have SSL traffic on the network segment where the portal resides. Obviously the SSL must be terminated in an application gateway that sends the certificate to the portal in the header.
    I know that AcceptClientCertWithoutSSL must be set to true in the http provider and that ClientCertificateHeaderName is the name of the header variable that contains the user’s certificate, default is SSL_CLIENT_CERT.
    What I don’t know is how to configure my JAAS login module stack, my suggestion would be this:
    EvaluateTicketLoginModule SUFFICIENT {ume.configuration.active=true}
    ClientCertLoginModule OPTIONAL {Rule1.getUserFrom=SSL_CLIENT_CERT}
    CreateTicketLoginModule SUFFICIENT {ume.configuration.active=true}
    BasicPasswordLoginModule REQUISITE {}
    CertPersisterLoginModule OPTIONAL {Rule1.getUserFrom=SSL_CLIENT_CERT}
    CreateTicketLoginModule SUFFICIENT {ume.configuration.active=true}
    My concern is does the ClientCertLoginModule and the CertPersisterLoginModule read from the header variable? If they don’t, is there another login module that should be used in this case?

    Hi Claus,
    you got the flags right but the options of the login modules (LM) are wrong, so the certificate authentication won't work.
    There's two problems I see: (1) Rule1.getUserFrom is not a valid option for the LM CertPersisterLoginModule, and (2) SSL_CLIENT_CERT is not a valid value for the option Rule1.getUserFrom of the ClientCertLoginModule.
    Looking at this topic:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/ea/301e3e6217b40be10000000a114084/content.htm
    the header variable used to pass the certificate is maintained in the HTTP provider service properties but since you use the default you don't need to maintain that part of the config. You also don't need the CertPersisterLoginModule in the config because it is used for automatic certificate mapping, which doesn't work when you don't have SSL to the portal.
    So with the above said your LM stack config should look like this:
    EvaluateTicketLoginModule SUFFICIENT {ume.configuration.active=true}
    ClientCertLoginModule OPTIONAL {Rule1.getUserFrom=wholeCert}
    CreateTicketLoginModule SUFFICIENT {ume.configuration.active=true}
    BasicPasswordLoginModule REQUISITE {}
    CreateTicketLoginModule SUFFICIENT {ume.configuration.active=true}
    If this doesn't work I'd suggest opening a support ticket.

    Yonko

    I did everything according to webutil manual.Then i developed a form using developer suit 10g (9.0.4).
    and successfully compiled and attached webutil library.then i subclass
    webutil object group from webutil.olb into my form,that is also
    subclassed successfully.Form has also been compiled and saved
    successfully.
    also configured my formsweb.cfg,forms90.conf,default.env according to webutil documentation.
    {color:#993366}Now when i run this form from client, it does not show form in the
    browser and shows a message on the client browser console as follows{color}.
    {color:#0000ff}*Applet oracle.forms.webutil.common.RegisterWebUtil*
    {color} {color:#993366}After this message,It does nothing and if i refresh browser,it shows following message in the browser' Console.{color}
    {color:#0000ff}*Applet oracle.forms.engine.Main notinited.*{color}
    Note:In the browser ,loading java applet is also visible.
    how should i resolve this problem?
    any suggestion?
    Its urgent.

  • Why did I fail to configure ODBC cartridge of Oracle Application Server 3.0.1 Advance

    Firstly, sorry that I don't know if this question is suit for this forum.
    Now I want to query oracle8 database through ODBC cartridge of OWAS. My software environment is: Oracle Application Server 3.0.1 Advanced Version, Oracle8 Enterprise Edition 8.0.4. They are installed in a winNT server.
    First I installed oracle8 ODBC on this server and configure it successfully(that means I can query Oracle8 through ODBC). Then I configured ODBC cartridge in application server administration. In this process, I don't configure ODBCCartridge specific parameters because I don't known which parameter need to be configured. Last I restart WRB, LISTENER(Admin). I input the URL in Navigator 4.o as the following: Http://tpdcserver.tpdc:8888/odbc/tableprint?database=oracle8&dsn=oracle_data&username=system&password=manager&sql=select+fromALL_USERS
    It displayed no correct page but error information: OWB-02002 Driver Failed.
    I don't know why. Please tell me. Thank you very much!

  • How to configure webutil in oracle application server 10g (9.0.4)?

    hi,
    i want to configure webutil for oracle application server 10g(9.0.4).
    how should i start?
    i have read the webutil mannual.it is bit tricky.
    i want step by step configuration.
    Any sort of help is appriciateable.
    Regards,

    hi,
    In webutil directory structure,there r four folders,
    {color:#0000ff}doc
    java
    server
    webutil{color}
    and there are three files.
    {color:#0000ff}webutil.pll,webutil.old and create_webutil_db
    {color}
    In webutil mannual,it is written that we should extract this folder to forms90.
    But in forms90, there are {color:#0000ff}server and java folders.
    {color:#000000}should i replace forms90's sever and java folder with webutil's server and java folder?
    what should i do for this ?
    regards

    This article does not mention that you can put the <jazn-loginconfig> tag into the orion-application.xml as well.
    Much easier to deploy and test.
