Jad download

Hi
I'm developing an j2me application which should interact with our application server. The application server checks for version when mobile devices connect to retrieve data. If the application version running on the mobile device is not compatible with the version running on the application server the application server issues an url to the connecting device were the new version can be downloaded.
Could some one tell me how I can do the download (jad jar Files...) to upgrade midlet
Is it possible to do it thru "HttpConnection"? or do I have to involve a browser like 'ReqwirelessWeb'

There is no way to do it in MIDP 1.0.
If you are developing in MIDP 2.0 then you can use platformRequest(url).

Its a mere perception that Blackberry 8520 Version 5.xx doesn't support Hindi or Indic fonts.

You can download the Indic font for Blackberry and install it. You will be able read and write Hindi characters on your handset.

How to install J2ME application on Nokia 6600

Can you help me in How to install J2ME application on Nokia 6600.Is it enough to build the application using J2ME wireless toolkit or we need any other Nokia SDK for it.

hi, it is not very difficult. I have done it this way :
1) i have set the following mime type in my web server (JRun 4):
text/vnd.sun.j2me.app-descriptor for the jad extension
application/java-archive for the jar extension
(in Jrun 4 i added them in the mime.types file in the lib directory)
2) i have published a wml page like this :

I am in Italy an so I have the italian provider's configurations. If this may be usefull to you i may send it.

I had been develop J2ME application.
I had made its jad and jar file, and success test with M50 emulator
And now, I like to try to install it in Siemens M50.
Can anyone tell me how to do that over OTA ??? or any other way ???

Error while downloading Jar/Jad by air

Hi All,
I am using netbeans as my IDE while compiling I m getting Jar and Jad file only I have uploaded both the files to VPN server now I want to download Jar/Jad file yesterday it downloaded fine on worked well on Blackberry bold device but from today it started creating a problem & display error messages as *"in jad file descriptor missing for midlet 1"*
So while downloading it says download fail
My Jad file information is given below

Try writing the complete url for your jar file location and make sure the jar size is exactly the same.
Ex.:

Object not found ERROR while downloading JAD over OTA

Hellow everybody !
I am getting Error while downloading JAD file over OTA in mobile..
I am putting JAD and JAR in same folder ...
and while I am trying to download JAR file directly then then Error like malformed content
anybody know that when it happens?

How do I upload the JAR and JAD file to the Web Server?
And once deployed on the Web Server,how can I down load this.
I have written a small MIDlet.

You should configure your web server to send the correct mime types
for .jad and .jar extensions

Verification error when run the game after download the jad/jar by OTA on BB 8300

On BB 8800, the jad/jar can be downloaded to the device, when run the game, there is a error msg "Error starting xxxx Module xxxx has verification error xxxx at offset xxxx", the version is OK on BB 8310, but failed on BB 8800 and 8300. I make the version by using proguard 3.8 and WTK22 preverify. I try RAPC preverify and failed again, use proguard 3.3.2 failed too.It seem that it is a compatible problem.
I check the article "Support - MIDlet has verification error at offset", and have no harvest.
BTW, the alx/jad/cod format works fine on BB 8800 and 8300.
How to fix the bug?

I gather for your lack of details that you are wanting to get an application that you have written working on the device?
Otherwsie can you specify the name of the application and the details of the error. Someone may have expericne with it.
Lacking this however, the software needs to be fixed.
You'll have better luck looking on the Java forums, not here...

Hi, I have downloaded battery accelerator using nokia suite ,but when i click on it , it asks me to go to nokiappwiz site reference. Then if i further clicks it is going......and going. When i browsed, i found jar and jad file for this application. Is there any solution, how to apply this app.

first,you must add the following two lines to Apache mime types:
text/vnd.sun.j2me.app-descriptor jad
application/java-archive jar
second,you must specify the absolute address of your jar file in the MIDlet-Jar-URL which in the jad file,such as:
MIDlet-Jar-URL: IP/game.jar

JAD/JAR download completion

Hi there, Im facing a problem; I have provisioned a download of a JAD&JAR file from server to WAP using WML via URL. The problem being, I want to phone to know when the download has finished to be able to go to a different page, I dont have any control at this point as the phone takes control away from the server whent he request for the JAR completes??
Any thoughts?
Have laready thought about some sort of callback method??

Troble in downloading .jad file

i have uploaded a .jad file on server, whenever i am trying to download using the url it shows the result as a text while in linux machines and in some windows it downloads, I have already set the mime type on server.
I think this is just because of browser setting any one can tell me how can i set the browser especially IE.

.JAD/JAR file download problems

Hi,
I'm having trouble with downloads of .jad and .jar files through WAP onto my mobile phone. The .JAR file downloads fine via the WAP APN but then the .JAD file doesn't download.
From what I can see, it looks like the j2me app manager on the phone which reads the jad file tries to download the .JAR file directly from the website. The problem here is that since i'm connected to a WAP APN, i have to download through the proxy so there's no direct access to the internet.
Anyone else have this kind of problem?
Is is possible to set up the .JAD file somehow so that it downloads through a proxy or takes the current APN to download it??
This is a HTTPS site but I dont think that would make a difference.

I have a very similar problem. Not quite the same tho: i am able to download the JAD and the JAR gets requested. One some phones the JAR gets downloaded properly but on others it blocks after 50 or 60 %.
We only encounter this problem when downloading through a proxy (defined in the phones wap/internet configuration); when we connect without a proxy everythibng works just fine.
Another clue might be the fact that we cannot do HTTPS communication (from the device) using a connection that is proxied. (We tested by putting the file on the device using bluetooth).
Has anybody seen this before? Do you know a solution to this problem?

Can't download .jar and .jad via Bluetooth to Sony Ericsson phone?

I have a standard Sony Ericsson K610i. I tried to transfer the manifest, the .jad and the .jar via Bluetooth. The manifest transferred fine but the .jad and the .jar cannot be transferred. Is there some certificate stuff that you have to do and how do you do it? I'm using [Sun's WTK (http://java.sun.com/products/sjwtoolkit/)|http://java.sun.com/products/sjwtoolkit/]

I solved the problem. My version of J2ME Wireless ToolKit was the latest version (2.5.2) but my phone is 2½ years old. So I uninstalled WTK installed version 2.2 pulled in 2 patches and then it worked. Both WTK 2.5.2 and WTK 2.2 was connected to the JVM of the 1.5 version of JDK. So that was not the problem. I installed the MIDlet via an OBEX File Push.

Just rename the jar to .zip. The jad is just a text file.
