Jakarta Digester - creating hierarchical Maps?

Hi All,
I'm writing an application that makes use of the Jakarata Commons Digester API, and have run in to some problems. I'll try to explain what i'm doing, given the following XML:
<entries>

1

<attribute>

<value>value1</value>
</attribute>
<attribute>

<value>value2</value>
</attribute>

2

<attribute>

<value>value3</value>
</attribute>
<attribute>

<value>value4</value>
</attribute>

</entries>What I want to do is create an initial Map with a <key, value> pairing. This map will represent the different
elements. The key will be the value contained in
, while the value will be another Map containing each <attribute> element, with a <key, value> pairing equal to <"name", "value">.
I can create the Map of <"name", "value"> easily, using existing commons rules. However, I cannot work out how to add this Map (which is created dynamically using the addCreateObject rule whenever an entry is found) to a "super" Map, which would contain the
as a key, and the recently created Map as the value.
Here are the two scenarios I have tried:
//add the super map to the stack
digester.push( map );
//create map of attributes for each Entry
digester.addObjectCreate ("entries/entry", HashMap.class );
digester.addCallMethod( "entries/entry/attribute", "put", 2 );
digester.addCallParam( "entries/entry/attribute/name", 0 );
digester.addCallParam( "entries/entry/attribute/value", 1 );
//can't do this as I can only specify one parameter to the put method.
digester.addSetNext("entries/entry/", "put", "java.util.HashMap");and:
//add the super map to the stack
digester.push( map );
//create map of attributes for each Entry
digester.addObjectCreate ("entries/entry", HashMap.class );
digester.addCallMethod( "entries/entry/attribute", "put", 2 );
digester.addCallParam( "entries/entry/attribute/name", 0 );
digester.addCallParam( "entries/entry/attribute/value", 1 );
digester.addCallMethod( "entries/entry", "put", 2 );
//I can add the code ok
digester.addCallParam("entries/entry/code", 0);
//but how can I pass the map created above as the second parameter?
digester.addCallParam("???", 1);Any help regarding this will be highly appreciated - I hope I have explained my problem clearly.
Regards,
Chris

Problem Solved, for anyone interested here is the code (making use of the parameter stack):
//add the super map to the stack
digester.push( map );
digester.addCallMethod("entries/entry", "put", 2);
//create map of attributes for each Entry
digester.addObjectCreate ("entries/entry", HashMap.class );
digester.addCallMethod( "entries/entry/attribute", "put", 2 );
digester.addCallParam( "entries/entry/attribute/name", 0 );
digester.addCallParam( "entries/entry/attribute/value", 1 );
//pass the code as the first parameter to the main Map
digester.addCallParam("entries/entry/code", 0);
//pass the created map from the stack as second parameter
digester.addCallParam("entries/entry", 1, true);

• How to create a map that is larger than the game in width and height?

hi,
i wounder how i can create a map(not the design) that is larger than the game in width and height, part of it will appear in the main page and anther part you can move to it after you press the arrow symbol, but the map is just one image so i want put it in line and out line the game page, and the out line part includes buttons and symbols the player can use, but it will be in line and the other part will be out line when you press the left arrow or the down arrow, how i can do that?
and is that possible to animate it so when the player press the arrow, will give it action to start the animation in one sec, i know how to animate it if that possible but i don't know which code i will use for the mouse click with the arrow symbol, and how to use the same code in the same symbol to start anther animation depending on which part of the map is on?

I don't know a lot about mask and masked layers and how to work with the normal layers beside i will use some 3D graphics but not in the background, i will explain all this to you to be more clearly.
first i am using action script 3.0
close ex,
you have 2d map"image" 900*300 pixel.
this image contains some 2d symbols when you click will go to anther normal map (anther normal layer) so they must appear.
your game 320*320 px, and the place the map will show on 300*300, and there's basics objects will be in most pages including the page that show the map so i don't know a lot about how this will work with mask layers.
so you can only see the left side of the map image and what it contains, while there's two arrows one to the left and one to the right there's three cases here,
first when it show the left side(start from x:0 to x:300), the left arrow will not active when you press and the right arrow will start an animation that make the map image move to the mid side in one sec when you press.
in mid side (start from x:301 to x:600) the same left arrow will active when you press to send you back to the left side while the same right arrow will be active to send you not to the mid side but to the right side,
when moved to the right side the same left arrow will be active to send you to the mid and the right will not active when you press and depending on that,
first how to make the large image appear with the three sides in the same place without effecting the other objects "like disappearing them" ?
and the codes i need in the same left or right arrow symbol to make different actions with the same symbol when clicked depending on which part of the map is on.

• Is there a way to create multiple map tile layers at once?

Hello experts,
I have a small problem. It's mainly a matter of saving some time. I need to create 51 map tile layers in mapviewer, and I would like to this this at one time. I can go to the admin console-->Management-->Manage Map Tile Layers-->Create, and then I can create one at a time. But it really would be nice to create them all at once!
I tried using the XML mode interface, and I can use the following code to create one map tile layer:

<map_tile_server_admin_request>
<create_map_tile_layer data_source="xxxx">
<map_tile_layer
name="FOUNDATION"
http_header_expires="168"
image_format="PNG">
<internal_map_source base_map="FOUNDATION"/>
<tile_storage root_path="/scratch/tilecache" />
<coordinate_system
srid="8265"
minX="-180" maxX="180" minY="-90" maxY="90"/>
<tile_image width="250" height="250" />
<zoom_levels levels="10" min_scale="5000" max_scale="10000000">
</zoom_levels>
</map_tile_layer>
</create_map_tile_layer>
</map_tile_server_admin_request> And it creates one layer. But when I try this:

<map_tile_server_admin_request>
<create_map_tile_layer data_source="xxxx">
<map_tile_layer
name="FOUNDATION"
http_header_expires="168"
image_format="PNG">
<internal_map_source base_map="FOUNDATION"/>
<tile_storage root_path="/scratch/tilecache" />
<coordinate_system
srid="8265"
minX="-180" maxX="180" minY="-90" maxY="90"/>
<tile_image width="250" height="250" />
<zoom_levels levels="10" min_scale="5000" max_scale="10000000">
</zoom_levels>
</map_tile_layer>
</create_map_tile_layer>
<create_map_tile_layer data_source="xxxx">
<map_tile_layer
name="FOUNDATION_WY"
http_header_expires="168"
image_format="PNG">
<internal_map_source base_map="FOUNDATION_WY"/>
<tile_storage root_path="/scratch/tilecache" />
<coordinate_system
srid="8265"
minX="-180" maxX="180" minY="-90" maxY="90"/>
<tile_image width="250" height="250" />
<zoom_levels levels="10" min_scale="5000" max_scale="10000000">
</zoom_levels>
</map_tile_layer>
</create_map_tile_layer>
</map_tile_server_admin_request>...it creates only the first map tile layer in my xml request.
Is there any way to create multiple map tile layers at once?
Thank you!
John

Michael,
It looks like you are right! Thank you for your help.
I still have a small concern. I looked at the documentation and it reads,
"The configuration settings for a cache instance are stored in the USER_SDO_CACHED_MAPS metadata view. You should normally not manipulate this view directly, but should instead use the MapViewer administration tool, which uses this view to configure map cache instances."
But, I tried inserting records into USER_SDO_CACHED_MAPS and it works, and I can't really see any reason not to directly insert records into this table, so...
Perhaps that warning is there simply because potentially you could screw things up tinkering with the table directly.
Cheers!
John

• How to create Hierarchies for a Dimension?

Hi,
How to create Hierarchies for a Dimension in Multidimensional Models? Could you please suggest some document provides step by step instructions to create Multidimensional Model?
Thanks
M Thiyagarajan

Hi M Thiyagarajan,
connect dimension to first level and after that connect that level to another one and so on. For level - each additional outgoing connection means additional hierarchy.

• Create key mapping using import manager for lookup table FROM EXCEL file

hello,
i would like create key mapping while importing the values via excel file.
the source file containing the key, but how do i map it to the lookup table?
the properties of the table has enable the creation of mapping key. but during the mapping in import manager, i cant find any way to map the key mapping..
eg
lookup table contains:
Material Group
Code
excel file contain
MatGroup1 Code System
Thanks!
Shanti

Hi Shanti,
Assuming you have already defined below listed points
1) Key Mapping "Yes" to your lookup table in MDM Console
2) Created a New Remote System in MDM console
3) proper rights for your account for updating the remote key values in to data manager through import manager.
Your sample file can have Material Group and Code alone which can be exported from Data Manager by File-> Export To -> Excel, if you have data already in Data Manager.
Open your sample file through Import Manager by selecting the remote system for which you want to import the Key mapping.
(Do Not select MDM as Remote System, which do not allows you to maintain key mapping values) and also the file type as Excel
Now select your Soruce and Destination tables, under the destination fields you will be seeing a new field called [Remote Key]
Map you source and destination fields correspondingly and Clone your source field code by right clicking on code in the source hierarchy and map it to Remote Key if you want the code to be in the remote key values.
And in the matching criteria select destination field code as a Matching field and change the default import action to Update NULL fields or UPDATED MAPPED FIELDS as required,
After sucessfull import you can check the Remote Key values in Data Manager.
Hope this helps
Thanks

• Data source cannot be created : MAPVIEWER-00011: Error creating a map data

Hi everyone,
i am getting an error meaasge while creating datasource
" Data source cannot be created : MAPVIEWER-00011: Error creating a map data source."
pls help

You should assign only one value to jdbc_sid. Try with this
<map_data_source name="mvdemo"
jdbc_host="localhost"
jdbc_sid="orcl"
jdbc_port="1521"
jdbc_user="mvdemo"
jdbc_password="!mvdemo"
jdbc_mode="thin"
number_of_mappers="3"
allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi="false"
/>
Make sure that oracle sid is 'ORCL'

• Create embedded map based on GPX data?

I have a website that serves up a series of GPS tracks (held as GPX files), each GPS file associated with a different dynamic web page.
At the moment I manually create a map with the GPS track shown on it - this is quite time consuming and not particularly useful for readers. You can see an example of what I do at the moment here: http://www.lonewalker.walkingplaces.co.uk/walkinfo.php?walk=402
Instead of having the static map in the corner of the page I would like to replace it with a Bing map, showing the route on the appropriate Ordnance Survey area map (I am UK based, and Bing are the only web map service that provide OS maps at the scale I
need - 1:25K).
The page is built dynamically, loading route data from a mySQL db and the map and GPX file from a simple query. The Bing map would need to work in the same way, drawing the appropriate GPS file on the appropriate map area, based on information generated
as part of the page build (I use PHP/mySQL and I can handle that bit), but I can't see how to get Bing maps to use the dynamic data.
Hope that all makes sense - happy to provide more information if I've not been clear.
Thanks
Stuart

Can't seem to make any progress on the GPX Parser plug-in.
All I'm doing at the moment is spinning my wheels, I managed to load a GPX file, but only when I click on one of the action buttons at the bottom of the map and that action button is supposed to be loading something else, not my GPX file, but when I click
it, my GPX track appears in the correct location on the map.

Once I click the button the 401.gpx file loads - this works locally, but when I upload it to my server, it doesn't load the trackdata either.
I'm stumped now- can anyone help?

• Using XML file in Java script to create Google Map

Hello,
I work for a non-profit in San Diego as a GIS Specialist. I have had to teach myself about some scripting to create some dynamic maps, but I am still very limited in my skills, so I have had to explore the internet in order to discover various tutorials and examples that have led me on a positive path.
Right now I am working on a Google Mash-Up that will incorporate over 14,000 records, which will appear as separate markers that will have pop-up info bubbles with additional info inside (using html), once the marker is clicked.
Here is the XML script example that is used in the tutorial I am following:
<markers>
<marker lat="43.65654" lng="-79.90138" html="Some stuff to display in the
First Info Window"
label="Marker One" />
<marker lat="43.91892" lng="-78.89231" html="Some stuff to display in the
Second Info Window"
label="Marker Two" />
<marker lat="43.82589" lng="-79.10040" html="Some stuff to display in the
Third Info Window"
label="Marker Three" />
</markers>
...and this is how it looks when the file is retrieved by the java script and mapped: http://econym.googlepages.com/example_map3.htm
This is the java script that creates the Google Map. I have emboldened the section of the script that retrieves the data and parses it to create the markers:

The "Marker" variable instructs Google Maps to label the marker with a particular color. I will be so grateful to the person(s) that helps me get through this wall that I have been hitting for a long time. It's very difficult without having the luxury of peers who know about these types of issues.
Thank you!!

Here is the relationship: They both contain geographic coordinates that produce a point on a map. I will use the rest of the information in the second xml file (company name, address, link, etc.) to produce the information for the bubble that will pop up once the marker is clicked.
My problem is that I need to try to keep the second xml file in a relatively similar format, so the rest of my records will still be accepted. If I had a smaller amount of records I could place them directly into the javascript, but because there are so many records, I need to use an xml file that can be retrieved by the java script. I chose to use the second type of xml file because I can easily copy and past the 14,000+ records that are now in excel document.
After the xml issue is corrected I need to rework the javascript that is now emboldened so that it will read the new xml file correctly. I included the first xml file so that the readers will understand what type of xml format is currently being used to produce the markers in the tutorial map.

• Disk utility-erasing a HD, creating partition map hanging

Hi all,
I have been given an external Maxtor USB drive, 120 BG, with the need to securely wipe the old information on it. I have used Disk Utility, and zeroed the HD with a 7 times pass. This took 17 hours, and it moved to the "create partition map" stage. It's been doing that for 24 hours and still the progress bar is rolling. All other options are greyed out and nothing can be selected in Disk Utility. I have chosen to format it in Mac OS X Extended, Journaled. There was about 45 GB data on the drive.
Would this amount of time be expected, or has something gone wrong? I hesitate to force quit DU, in case I render the drive unusable. If I do that or shut down the computer, what's likely to happen to the HD? Will I be able to mount it again and start over. Any tips much appreciated.
Frances

Hi Frances,
17 hours for the 7-times pass is normal (and usually completely unnecessary unless you work for the CIA). However, the hang at the "create partition map" stage is not normal. I would interrupt it and reformat the drive, since the zeroing is finished anyway.

• I need your expert opinion on how to create a map with multiple conditions.

Hello.
I need your expert opinion on how to create a map with multiple conditions.
I have a procedure (which i cannot import or re-create in OWB due to the bug), so i am trying to create a map instead :-(
How can i create a cursors within the map?
My function creates table and cursor.
Then it will have to check for duplicates in the tables (the one created and another table) - the criteria for finding duplicates is a number of fields.I then need to place few different conditions (if some attributes are not available) and it has to load cursor based on this conditions. The next step is to fetch the data into the cursor based on what attributes are missing.
The next thing it will do is insert the data into table (if record doesn't exist), output the error in separate table is record is corrupted, or update the record with changed information.
In short i need to re-create match / merge but with conditions, iterations etc 'built into' it.
I can read up on available functions - it's just what would be the best options? and what would be the best approach to do so?
In my function i use %rowtype - but cannot use it in owb - so what would be the alternative? i don't really want to create a lot of variables and then have a nightmare of maintaing it. are there any tips regarding this?
having looked through Oracle dedupe - it's not really what i need because it is just DISTINCT.
I would appreciate any help / advise on this.
Thank you very much

thanks a lot for your reply - i will look into this option :-)
it is a bit more complicated now as i have to re-create the match / merge and then somehow 'tweak' it to achieve the result i need.
At the moment i am looking to breakdown the package into smaller chunks 'functions' and try creating the map that way.
Anyway, thank you very much for your suggestion.

• Best way to create hierarchies tables

Good morning all,
I wanted to discuss the best practices of creating hierarchies to be consumed by OBIEE. As far as I understand, OBIEE has been optimized to use flattened hierarchies, such as:
ROW_WID CITY COUNTRY
1 NEW YORK CITY USA
2 MOSCOW RUSSIA
3 KIEV UKRAINE
4 SYDNEY AUSTRALIA
5 ATLANTA USA
Let's call it option 1. The only problem with this is that it has a potential to grow very wide. Also, There's a chance for confusion when there're duplicate entries, such as "New York" (city) and "New York State". Also, it's not always possible to define hierarchical relationships between data in a flat table - so-called ragged hierarchies. I found two major way of dealing with those (stack and flattening them out). Are there any other ways to deal with those? Specifically, I'm interested in dealing with hierarchies that involve complex positioning (a person might be a manager vertically, but managed horizontally - or - a person can have 2 managers - on different levels).
Also, in the example above - can I create dimensional outriggers (assign surrogate keys instead of text values to the dim - such as having NEW YORK as 100, MOSCOW as 200)? Sort of snowflaking a dimension. I was asked to do a proof of concept for this - but haven't been successful so far. If yes, could you please provide a simple Dim Outrigger < Dim < Fact diagram.
Thank you

Thanks Peter - I've checked that document before (I believe it's based on Kurt Wolffe's document on Siebel Analytics which I checked as well).
This option is fine if you're not going to do frequent changes - but in my case - it'll be a hell to maintain. We're sort of trying to prototype best solution - and it seems as flattening hierarchies is the best option, of course, given its limitations.
Also, there's another option of taking a different path and splitting and then building separate hierarchies

• How to create interactive map in SAP Visual Business using SAP UI5 SDK

Hi,
Please tell me,
How to create interactive map in SAP Visual Business using SAP UI5 SDK.
Is it possible to create interactive map using VB Control in SAP UI5 SDK..?
if possible please any one let me know.

Hi folks, one question:
We have our development close moved and now it is earlier than originally planned.
That means that we maybe can't finish our convenient API and you have to wait till we will release it - early 2015 is planned.
But there is another option:
Currently we have a API based on json. The developer has to create json and to transfer it to the Visual Business control.
This interface is more used as a low level API and we are developing on top the more convenient one. So all the features are the same.
It will stay stable & compatible in the future and you can build on it.
Do you want to use this interface?
Then I will publish the documentation.
Let me know.
Thanks

• Creating external mapping file for C# application

Hi,
I'm using Robohelp 7 and producing HTMLHelp files. So far, the programmers have been making internal links in the program to call my help, but I'd like to take this over using an external mapping file.
Is it possible to use regular map files, using the built-in Map ID functionality, for C# .NET applications? If so, is there something special I have to do? Or do I just create a regular map file?
Thanks!

I mean that, in the past, they have hard-coded the link to each help page within the application. But, I'd like to take that over by maintaining a Map file where I specify the link between the topic and the Map ID.
However, I'm not sure that the map file works for C# .Net applications, and the engineers aren't sure either. I told them I'd go investigate.
Is there a way to create a Map file, or something that works like a map file, for a C# .Net application? Or do they have to go on hard-coding the links to each topic?
