Jar File executes without the CLASSPATH being set???

Hello all:
I have been writing an application with JBuilder 4.0 Professional. I have finished the program and then let JBuilder create a JAR file. About the first 5 times I created the JAR file, I could never get it to execute from the command line. However, the last time I created the JAR file, I doubled clicked on it and it executed by using javaw. I had the CLASSPATH pointing to the file. I later removed the CLASSPATH variable, and the JAR file still executed. My MANIFEST.MF file includes the package name(not classpath) and the main class(which contains the public static void main method).
I installed the JAR file and the JRE on another computer and it would not work. Can anyone give me some information??? Thanks in advance.

probably this is due to the fact on your windows explorer under view - options, File Types tab you have the executable jar file pointing to a jdk.
click on Executable Jar File and click edit then click on open in the Actions box (if this isn't here then this isn't the reason, sorry) and click edit. a pop up will appear with the java exe path - this is what the app is running from.

  • Classpath Issue - but JAR file is in the classpath

    I'm having an issue getting a JAVA Application Client to run and would welcome any suggestions or input to resolve this problem. I'm not a developer, just the builder/deployer of the applications. There are two developers looking at this problem too, but they are stumped too.
    It complains that it can't find sun/jdbc/rowset/CachedRowSet, which is contained in the rowset.jar - which is in the classpath. I've put all the supporting information below, if you need additional information please let me know and I'll provide it.

    All that script made my eyes glaze over, but it appears you are running your main class from an executable jar file. Is that correct? Executable jar files don't use the classpath. If you want them to refer to anything outside the executable jar, you have to put Class-Path entries in its manifest.

  • Jar file doesn't read classpath environment variable from windows xp

    I created a small program that uses javamail and jdbc driver. I program on Win XP and use java 1.6.04.
    When I compiled my classes the program works fine but when I created a jar package the jar file cannot 'see' the classpath that windows has already set.
    I have to set the classpath in the manifest file and then it works ok.
    Is this normal? I was expecting that the jar file would work just fine without any complication since the classpath is already set in the system?
    If you could point to any documentation that covers this it would be great.
    Thank you very much.

  • Opening a file (hst), executes the main jar file to open the hst file HELP

    Greetings,
    I have created a file with an extension *.hst, so in my Win XP computer, when I double click a .hst file, it should be opened in my program, which is a jar file, so during the installation I associate my program to this .hst file extension.
    After all this, when I double click this .hst file, it shows an error message that the jar file is not a vaid win32 application. I donot wish to convert my file to an .exe. Help ?
    Cheers,
    Raj

    How did you specify command line for your .hst file?
    It should be something like "java -classpath
    [youfile.jar] [youclass] %1"I have not specified command line for the .hst file.
    The .hst file is just a file that is created when my main program (jar file) saves its files., later If I double click this saved hst file, it should be opened in the main jar program.
    For the double click to work, I have created a constructor
    public hst(String hstfile)
       //code to set the file contents in the window.
    }the problem is that when I double click it says that the main jar file is not a valid win32 application, so what do I do ?

  • Jar files downloaded from SkyDrive are being renamed to jar.zip files

    I have cut and pasted the following series of exchanges from when I posted the problem onto SkyDrive's support forum. I hope that someone might be able to propose a better solution to the problem that I have. Thanks for your help.
    MDSms asked on
    Uploaded jar files convert to jar.zip files when downloaded from SkyDrive
    I have uploaded an executable jar file to SkyDrive. (I will call this FILE.jar). The file is intact and indicates that it is a jar file type when the file is viewed by Properties within Skydrive. However, when I download (or others download through a share link) the file, it is being saved onto the local computer's download file with .zip appended to the file name (FILE.jar.zip). The downloaded file can be renamed to remove the .zip appendage and subsequently run successfully. However the folder options for the folder where the downloaded file resides must be changed for disable "Hide known file extensions" prior to being able to remove the .zip appendage. While I have figured out the workaround for this problem, this manual renaming procedure is entirely too cumbersome as a solution for sharing this file with others. How can I prevent or disable the FILE.jar file from being renamed to FILE.jar.zip when it is downloaded from SkyDrive?

    The file was uploaded by first logging onto my SkyDrive account using Windows 7 Pro and Firefox browser, then a new folder in my account was created without sharing privileges, then the folder was opened and the FILE.jar was uploaded into the folder using the "Upload" option on skydrive account menu. Sharing privileges for FILE.jar were then created (view only), and the shortened url link was sent to the individuals that I was trying to share the file with. was then turned on. When these people use the link to download the file, it is being saved as FILE.jar.zip.
    When I try to download the file through the skydrive account download option, it is being saved onto my computer as FILE.jar.zip and this occurs when I try to download the file while signed into my skydrive account as well as when I am not signed into my skydrive account (using the shared file link).
    This PNG shows the information provided by clicking on the download icon (down arrow) within the Firefox browser; note that the file was downloaded as FILE.jar.zip and that the source was live.com. When I use Windows Explorer to look at the same file within the Download folder itself, examining the file's properties details also shows that it is being saved as FILE.jar.zip and is of the file type compressed zip folder.
    This PNG shows the information displayed to me from my skydrive account when I view the originally uploaded file's properties; note that the information shows that the file is a jar file type.
    When I utilize Internet Explorer 9 to access the file, FILE.jar is being downloaded onto my computer as a jar file type. This PNG shows the information provided by Tools/View Downloads within the IE9 browser. Note that in this instance, the information indicates that the file is being downloaded from yzudea.blu.livefilestore.com.
    It appears to me that the problem (the FILE.jar file being renamed to FILE.jar.zip) arises from the fact that a jar file downloaded from skydrive using firefox, is being sent from live.com whereas a jar file downloaded from skydrive using IE9 is being sent from yzudea.blu.livefilestore.com.
    I want to make sure that a person receiving a share link from me for FILE.jar is able to download it without modification to the file name regardless of which browser is being using to access the link. How can I make sure that this occurs?
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi MDSms,
    I appreciate you for providing as much information as you can about the issue, as well as for uploading screenshots on what you see from the downloaded file. About your initial concern wherein the file gets renamed with .zip after the original file extension, this is solely dependent on the browser that you are using since they have a different safety/security measure that needs to be implemented.
    Moreover, you may see the file servers live.com and yzudea.blu.livefilestore.com to be different with one another, but they actually are sent from the same SkyDrive server. This in turn, depends on the web browser where the file is being downloaded as well. The live.com file where it was downloaded from Firefox simply masks its original server yzudea.blu.livefilestore.com.
    As for your last query about your recipients downloading the file without the hassle of renaming it from a .zip file, you can simply tell them to download it through Internet Explorer.
    Should you have other queries or additional information that might help in our investigation, I highly encourage you to post them here.
    Regards,
    Michelle

    Michelle,
    Thanks for your reply. Yes, I could simply tell them to download the file through Internet Explorer, but is there another solution or workaround to the problem I have described here? Am I being punished with the curse of this problem simply because I (or the individuals with which I wish to share FILE.jar with) choose to use Firefox instead of IE? Will the use of any other browser instead of IE (Chrome, Safari, etc., etc.) still result in the same problem?
    You stated that it is "solely dependent on the browser that you are using since they have a different safety/security measure that needs to be implemented"........could the problem be overcome by designating one or both of the file server addresses as Trusted Sites within the browser options setting?
    I look forward to your response. Thanks in advance.

    Hi MDSms,
    We understand your concern. Since the issue does not occur in Internet Explorer, it has something to do with Firefox's security feature. You might want to verify this concern by contacting Firefox support.
    Hope this helps. Let us know if we can further assist you with SkyDrive.
    Thanks,

  • WebLogic 10.3.5 ClassNotFoundException (jar file is available in classpath)

    Hi, I'm facing a problem on WLS10.3.5 + Spring 3.1 + Hibernate 3.6.7 connecting to Apache Derby 10.8.1.2.
    The Spring ContextLoaderListener configured in the web.xml is failing since the the entityManagerFactory creation failed - since the derby datasource defined in WLS could not be created. Root cause - ClassNotFoundException by the weblogic.utils.classloaders.GenericClassLoader. I've tried adding derbyclient.jar in all locations - WLS server lib, domain lib, WEB-INF/lib, VM_HOME/jre/lib/ext, and also tried setting PRE_CLASSPATH. Also tried keeping a duplicate copy of the jar in all the locations at the same time. No luck.

    Truncated. see log file for complete stacktrace
    The datasource is created successfully from the console so there's no problem with the jar file. I could also load the above class using a test JSP from another bare WAR deployed into the same domain.
    I'm out of ideas and need some options to explore. btw, I specified in the weblogic.xml that the antlr.* classes should be taken from the application. Also tried this option for org.apache.derby.* classes.
    This looks like a buggy class loader problem. Any ideas or solution please?

    "The datasource is created successfully from the console so there's no problem with the jar file."
    Did you also test the data source when you created it?
    - when yes then WebLogic can indeed find the derbyclient.jar as the driver org.apache.derby.jdbc.ClientDriver is part of it.
    "I specified in the weblogic.xml that the antlr.* classes should be taken from the application. Also tried this option for org.apache.derby.* classes."
    Have you only defined a
    <prefer-application-packages>
        <package-name>antlr.*</package-name>
        <package-name>org.apache.derby.*</package-name>
    </prefer-application-packages>in weblogic.xml or did you also turn on prefer-web-inf-classes?
    It is smart to start from scratch and delete all the jar files in all the directories. To make the derbyclient.jar part of the WebLogic classpath you can do the following:
    - edit setDomainEnv: When you open setDomainEnv there is an entry like "SET THE CLASSPATH". Just before - if [ "${JAVA_VENDOR}" != "BEA" ] ; then
    you can put something like: CLASSPATH=${CLASSPATH}${CLASSPATHSEP}location/derbyclient.jar
    If the class must be available on every server in a cluster, you can edit the commEnv file (located in the ${WL_HOME}/common/bin directory)
    Search for the entry "set up WebLogic Server's class path". And below the WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH you can add something like:
    WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH=${WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH}${CLASSPATHSEP}location/derbyclient.jar
    Hope this helps you a little

  • How do i output CMY reg marks over BLK master reg mark without the BLK being knocked out on BLK film

    how do i output CMY reg marks only CMY films where they are over the BLK master reg mark without the BLK being knocked out on BLK film

    You're evidently doing some kind of custom registration, but not explaining what it is.
    First, what kind of printing are you doing that requires ten seps (CMYK and six spots)?
    By definition, the Registration Swatch prints solid on all seps, both process and spot. But you talk of a CMY registration mark as if it is distinct and separate from K. Don't you also want your CMY seps to be registered not only to each other but also to the K?
    You mention a "master" registration (as opposed to…?) needing to appear on the K sep. If a registration mark only appears on a single sep, what is it going to serve to register to; and how if there is no corresponding mark on the other sep(s)?
    You seem to be under a not uncommon misconception that separations are somehow associated with Layers. They're not, unless you just want to organize your drawing that way for some reason.
    If you want to create your own registration or fold or other printer marks which separate only to specific process inks, simply create and assign Swatches defined with 100% values of the desired component inks. There is no need to set these marks to overprint.
    If you want to create your own marks which separate only to specific spot inks, those will need to involve object-level overprinting. You do not have to do that using multiple objects. You can assign multiple Strokes to a single path and set the overprint attribute on the Strokes individually.
    It almost sounds like you are designing for screen printing on garments, and want to use registration marks. But because there is no "trim" region on the garment, you are trying to build the files in such a way that the marks end up being overprinted (therefore hidden) by subsequent inks. The default assumption in forums like this is always commercial offset printing. Otherwise, you should always state the printing method for which you are designing and describe the pertinent parameters.
    Edit:
    >"... this is a silk screen process with each colour applied over the other..."
    We were typing at the same time. So it's as I suspected (or similar). Your description of what the printer wants is still confusing.

    Excellent question. I don't see any client-jar in your EAR file structure. So I am assuming you are writing a separate client application which will talk to the ejbs deployed as part of this EAR. You need to do the following:
    Write another EAR file with the following structure:
    ear:
    META-INF/application.xml
    util.jar
    client.jar
    client.jar should have a META-INF/MANIFEST.MF and that should contain Class-Path:util.jar and value for Main-Class attribute.
    Now deploy this new ear to your application server and execute it using Application Client Container that comes with your app server.
    If you don't want to write another EAR file, then bundle th client.jar in your original EAR file.
    Points to note are:
    you have to repackage util.jar again inside this ear file.
    For portability reason, you should use Class-Path manifest entry in client.jar. Refer to http://java.sun.com/j2ee/verified/packaging.html and J2EE platform spec section #8.2.
    Hope this helps,
    Sahoo

  • Replacing jar files real-time in classpath

    Hi All
    I have a swing application and It runs perfectly. I have created a update manager that can download jar files for the application. This update manager downloads jar files and replaces the jar files that are currently in the class path. You could say the update is real-time.
    After the files are downloaded I get errors like class not found and other really strange Java errors. The class not found errors indicate that the application cant find classes that are in the downloaded jar file.
    Is there any way to prevent this from happening?
    Thanks in advance,
    Martyn Hiemstra

    I am currently just saving the downloaded files into the classpath directory, so in short I'm replacing them while the JVM is running.
    The problem is that my Java application is installed using install4j meaning that the application is started as a .exe file. The problem is that I would need to create an external application to update the files but the external programme would have not idea where to put the newly downloaded files. T o overcome this all I want to create an updater within my own application.
    Is there a way to shutdown real-time loading of jar files in the class path? That would solve the problem since the newly loaded jar files arent detected until the application is started again.

  • I want 2 put music from cds on another ipod without the songs being in my..

    I want 2 put music from cds on another ipod without the songs being in my library. Sorry it cut me off on the title. I want to import songs to put on my brother's ipod, but when I try to delete the song from my library it deletes it from his too. Help?

    If you want to delete content from your computer but keep it on the iPod (so that is not deleted next time you connect it to iTunes), you need to set that iPod to manage the iPod content manually.

  • Why doesn't my jar file know about my classpath

    I have created a simple java program to illustrate my point. My java program is called ABC.java and this is what is in it:
    import java.lang.String;
    public class ABC {
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              String myClassPath;
              myClassPath = System.getProperty("java.class.path");
              System.out.println("Running ABC\n");
              System.out.println(myClassPath);
              System.out.println("\nFinished ABC");
    If I run java ABC.class I get my classpath printed out, but if I create a jar file I do not get a classpath printed out.
    I am asking this because I have written a java app that uses a class from a third part jar file that is in my class path. If I run the .class version the app works as it should. If I run the jar version of the app I get a NoClassDefFoundError for the class in the third party jar file.
    Since the third party jar file may be in a different path on diferent machines I can not hard code the classpath in my manifest file.
    If I use the -classpath or -cp switch when I run the jar file my demo app still does not print the classpath as it should.
    I hope this is just a bonehead error on my part.
    Thanks in advance.

    This suggestion would work well if I only needed to support one OS.
    The problem is that under Windows the third party JAR would be in a
    subdirectory under "C:\Program Files" but under Linux and Solaris the JAR
    file might be in a subdirectory under opt. My relative path would be different
    for each OS. It would be great if I did not have to have a JAR for each OS.
    One of the great things about Java was supposed to be that you could have
    one application that ran under several OSes.
    I forgot to mention that for me example above I was using JDK 1.5.0_09.

    In Mavericks Mail, how do you attach a PDF (single-page or multi-page) without the PDF being embedded in the message?

    I attached a .doc file to the message and it appeared as an icon, so I did not have to convert it. I attached a .jpg image — it appeared as a full image, but when I Command+clicked the image, the view as icon window did not appear on the screen. Likewise, I again checked the Mail Menu Bar, and did see 'View as icon.' Side note: I routinely use Mavericks Mail in Classic Mode, so I decided to try both modes. Same results in both modes. I checked my Mail Preferences, but couldn't find anything there, either. I'll continue to look around, but this has me stumped. Thanks for your assistance.

  • Is there a way to save a fillable form (in Reader) as a static (uneditiable) image and send it for signature without the recipient being able to revise the fields at all?

    Is there a way to save a fillable form (in Reader) as a static (uneditiable) image and send it for signature without the recipient being able to revise the fields at all? I have designed a number of fillable forms and sent them to our clients as Reader extended pdfs to be filled out and sent back. Now, certain clients want to be able to fill in the fields and save the doc as a pdf that can't be tampered with so that they can send it to their own people for signature to be returned to them hand-signed and scanned via email.
    Since the forms have been secured, and my cleints are only using the free Acrobat Reader, how can they save the filled in form as a static pdf to send on for signature? They do not want to have to print, scan and email. Is there an app, plug-in, simple solution to this?
    Thank you,
    Rumor

    The signature WILL work! I've just looked into it more, thank you so much for pointing me in that direction.
    I get it now, it locks the form fields in place after my coworker fills them in and signs it (as the very last step).
    I wish I would have asked on here a full day ago. Would have saved a lot of headache and Googling.
    Thanks again.
