Java 2 SDK compilator for beginners
Hi to all here.
I am really sorry to disturb you all,
I am beginner in Java and I need to download Java 2 SDK compilator in order to compile my homeworks. I went lost in all the reliese EE, SE and so on I saw in Sun homepage.
Which one is the right one ?
I have Windows Vista Home edition in my computer.
Thanks for helping me.
Flavio
Download and install a Java SE 6 JDK for your Windows platform which is available here:
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
If you want some GUI Application you may choose the version containing NetBeans, if you only want the compiler and runtime environment install the first option (JDK 6 Update 4).

JAVA editor/compiler for Mac
I am taking a JAVA programming course , and I would like to download a JAVA editing program for use on my home computer (Mac OS 10.5). I use TextPad at school, and I would like a similar program that can compile and run JAVA applications/applets.
If you want an IDE ...

Of course, you can use any text editor and the command-line to compile if you don't want an IDE.

How to make the java files compile for a project created outside of Eclipse
Hi^^,
I have created a project outside of Eclipse. It has the following folders
1. config
2. source
3. WEB-INF
I want to execute the project on remote server. Will it compile automatically creating a new folder for .class files corresponding to the source folder or do i need to include a build.xml to enable the project to create a new folder for .class files. Also pls tell me how do I write this build.xml
Please advise.Hi^^,
Actually I have created a project without using eclipse.
My source files are inside WEB-INF/source
Now I want to compile the files using build.xml so that I can create class files. I am using the following build.xml
<project name="jsp" default="all" basedir="./">
<property environment="env"/>
<property file="ArmorJSP.properties"/>
<!-- set global properties for this build -->
<property name="source" value="."/>
<target name="all" depends="copy, jspc, testservlet"/>
<!-- Creates jsp_servlet directory under WEB-INF\classes of the Examples Web
APP and places the compiled jsp classes into it -->
<target name="jspc">
<!-- Run ejbc to create the deployable jar file -->
<java classname="weblogic.jspc" fork="yes">
<arg line="-webapp ${APPLICATION_HOME} -compileAll -d ${APPLICATION_WEB_CLASSES} ${source}/*.jsp"/>
<classpath>
<pathelement path="${WL_HOME}/lib/weblogic_sp.jar;${WL_HOME}/lib/weblogic.jar;${ARMOR_HOME}/ARMORSecurity.jar;${ARMOR_HOME}/ARMORUtil.jar"/>
</classpath>
</java>
</target>
<!-- Creates jsp_servlet directory under WEB-INF\classes of the Examples Web
APP and places the compiled Servlets classes into it -->
<target name="testservlet">
<!-- Run ejbc to create the deployable jar file -->
<javac destdir="${APPLICATION_WEB_CLASSES}" srcdir="${source}" includes="*.java">
<classpath>
<pathelement path="${WL_HOME}/lib/weblogic_sp.jar;${WL_HOME}/lib/weblogic.jar;${ARMOR_HOME}/ARMORSecurity.jar;${ARMOR_HOME}/ARMORUtil.jar"/>
</classpath>
</javac>
</target>
<target name="copy">
<copy todir="${APPLICATION_HOME}">
<fileset dir="${source}">
<include name="*.jsp"/>
</fileset>
</copy>
</target>
</project>I do not know how to compile the project using this build.xml
The motive of doing all this is to understand how is Eclipse doing the build project step. I simply cannot find any build.xml inside any of my projects created in Eclipse however when right click on the project and choose build project, it compiles excellently. ???

Simple Java SDK question for server group assignment
I have a snippet of code below in which I am trying to apply the setProcessingServerGroup() and setProcessingServerGroupChoice() methods to my report object. My question should be relatively simple: I believe I need to cast(?) my iObject report object to iProcessingServerGroupInfo per the API in order to use the setProcessingServerGroup() and setProcessingServerGroupChoice() methods, but I'm not sure how to do so.
Can someone please advise how to cast my iObject to iProcessingServerGroupInfo?
Thanks in advance...
Code:
IInfoObject iObject = (IInfoObject) childReports.get(i);
int sgID_view = Integer.parseInt(serverGroupID_view);
int sgPref_view = Integer.parseInt(serverGroupPref_view);
!!!!! CONVERSION / CAST NEEDED HERE !!!!!
iProcessingServerGroupInfo.setProcessingServerGroup(sgID_view);
iProcessingServerGroupInfo.setProcessingServerGroupChoice(sgPref_view);To followup, I've been able to cast to IShedulingInfo in order to use the setServerGroup() and setServerGroupChoice() methods successfully:
IInfoObject iObject = (IInfoObject) iObjects.get(i);
ISchedulingInfo iSchedulingInfo = iObject.getSchedulingInfo();
iSchedulingInfo.setServerGroup(427);
iSchedulingInfo.setServerGroupChoice(2);
But I don't know how to perform the cast to be able to access the setProcessingServerGroup(), sterProcessingServerGroupChoice() methods.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks! -
Adobe AIR 3.9 beta sdk&compiler with ios 7 for windows download broken
Hi,
I couldn't download:
Download AIR 3.9 SDK & Compiler for Windows — with iOS7 support (ZIP, 204 MB)
from http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/air.html
The download gets to about 56mb or so and then cuts out. All other downloads work fine, just this one stops. I think that maybe the file was not uploaded right.
Cheers,
GrantHi,
The links is active and working, looks like some network issue at your end, please try again.

Java application compiles java files in memory
how can I use java application program (that may call method runtime exec or some other techniques) to compile the other java files that were already loaded in memory. (I can not copy those target files to the hard disk with extension java, then compile for security reason).
And once they are compiled, where do you plan to put the compiled .class files? Same security problem, right? Perhaps you planned to load and use them "from memory" somehow? This would be a different security problem. Perhaps you need to rethink what you are doing.

How to create a report with data using the Crystal Reports for Java SDK
Hi,
How do I create a report with data that can be displayed via the Crystal Report for Java SDK and the Viewers API?
I am writing my own report designer, and would like to use the Crystal Runtime Engine to display my report in DHTML, PDF, and Excel formats. I can create my own report through the following code snippet:
ReportClientDocument boReportClientDocument = new ReportClientDocument();
boReportClientDocument.newDocument();
However, I cannot find a way to add data elements to the report without specifying an RPT file. Is this possible? I seems like it is since the Eclipse Plug In allows you to specify your database parameters when creating an RPT file.
is there a way to do this through these packages?
com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.data
com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.definition
Am I forced to create a RPT file for the different table and column structures I have?
Thank you in advance for any insights.
Ted JenneyHi Rameez,
After working through the example code some more, and doing some more research, I remain unable to populate a report with my own data and view the report in a browser. I realize this is a long post, but there are multiple errors I am receiving, and these are the seemingly essential ones that I am hitting.
Modeling the Sample code from Create_Report_From_Scratch.zip to add a database table, using the following code:

Throws the exception
com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ReportSDKException: java.lang.NullPointerException---- Error code:-2147467259 Error code name:failed
There was other sample code on SDN which suggested the following - adding the table after calling table.setDataFields() as in:
String tableName = "Building";
String fieldname = "Building_Name";
Table oTable = new Table();
oTable.setName(tableName);
oTable.setAlias(tableName);
oTable.setQualifiedName(tableName);
oTable.setDescription(tableName) ;
Fields fields = new Fields();
DBField field = new DBField();
field.setDescription(fieldname);
field.setHeadingText(fieldname);
field.setName(fieldname);
field.setType(FieldValueType.stringField);
field.setLength(40);
fields.add(field);
oTable.setDataFields(fields);
oTable.setConnectionInfo(oConnectionInfo);
rcd.getDatabaseController().addTable(oTable, null);
This code succeeds, but it is not clear how to add that database field to a section. If I attempt to call the following:
FieldObject oFieldObject = new FieldObject();
oFieldObject.setDataSourceName(field.getFormulaForm());
oFieldObject.setFieldValueType(field.getType());
// Now add it to the section
oFieldObject.setLeft(3120);
oFieldObject.setTop(120);
oFieldObject.setWidth(1911);
oFieldObject.setHeight(226);
rcd.getReportDefController().getReportObjectController().add(oFieldObject, rcd.getReportDefController().getReportDefinition().getDetailArea().getSections().getSection(0), -1);
Then I get an error (which is not unexpected)
com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ReportDefControllerException: The field was not found.---- Error code:-2147213283 Error code name:invalidFieldObject
How do I add one of the table.SetDataFields() to my report to be displayed?
Are there any other pointers or suggestions you may have?
Thank you -

What is the Opendocument syntax for java SDK -BOXI3.1
Hi,
We are using java sdk for BOXI3.1 to open the reports from J2EE Screens.
Earlier we have used below syntax for opendocument in BOXIR2, it worked fine. Now our client is migrated to BOXI3.1 same URL syntax is not working.
BOXIR2 we have used below syntax to open the webi reports from J2EE screen:
URL: "http://" + CMS + ":8080/businessobjects/enterprise115/desktoplaunch/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?" + "iDocID=" + webiID + "&sType=wid&sWindow=Same&token=" + token;
Please help in this regard.The URL path and such has changed.

Retrieve underlying SQL query for deski report via java SDK in BOXIR2
Hi all,
I am trying to retrieve underlying SQL queries of a deski report in BOXIR2. However I find the error as
oDataProvider = oDocumentInstance.getDataProviders().getItem(i1);
System.out.print(oDataProvider.getName());
oSQLDataProvider = (SQLDataProvider) oDataProvider;
oSQLContainer_root = oSQLDataProvider.getSQLContainer();
But "This feature is not supported for desktop Intelligence " exception has occured.
I am running the same query for Webi, and I did not find any issue . After several time spending in google, it appears to me that this code is supported by webi only. But "This feature is not supported for desktop Intelligence " exception has occured.
Please help me to find out the solution in java SDK. If its not supported by Java SDK, then could you please provide me any workaround , e.g. any macro . Any help !!
Regards,
Nita

Edited by: Nita Prasad on Aug 11, 2009 11:25 AMHi Fritz,
I am not getting the way.. how to open the deski report programmatically. I am writing the code in this way:
Dim oInfoObjects1 As CrystalInfoStoreLib.InfoObjects
Set oInfoObjects1 = oInfoStore.Query("SELECT * FROM CI_INFOOBJECTS WHERE SI_NAME='" & oInfoObject.Title & "' AND SI_ID='" & oInfoObject.Id & "' order by SI_NAME")
Dim oInfoObject1 As CrystalInfoStoreLib.InfoObject
Dim UserCount1 As Integer
UserCount1 = oInfoObjects1.ResultCount
MsgBox "SELECT * FROM CI_INFOOBJECTS WHERE SI_NAME=' " & oInfoObject.Title & " ' AND SI_ID=' " & oInfoObject.Id & " ' order by SI_NAME"
MsgBox " Total number of Deski reports are : [" & UserCount1 & "]", vbOKOnly
Dim j As Integer
For j = 1 To UserCount1
Set oInfoObject1 = oInfoObjects1.Item(i)
sFile_ReportList = StrConv(oInfoObject1.Title, vbLowerCase) & ".rep"
sFile_Output = "D:\TraceWrite1\ " & StrConv(oInfoObject1.Id & "_" & oInfoObject1.Title, vbLowerCase) & ".txt"
sFile_ReportListTemp = StrConv(oInfoObject1.Files.Item(j), vbLowerCase)
MsgBox "[" & sFile_ReportList & "]", vbOKOnly
If Dir(sFile_ReportList) = "" Then
MsgBox "The text file [" & sFile_ReportList & "] for the DeskI documents does not exist!" & vbCrLf & "Aborting process."
Exit Sub
End If
I am getting the error on line ... If Dir(sFile_ReportList) = "" Then... The code is not able to locate the deski report path.
Is this the correct way to get a deski report information? Please let me know, If I am going in the right direction.

I used the javac command in dos mode to compile my .java files , but in my recent program i have so many errors that they dont fit into the dos screen(in dos mode i cannot move up and down!).
Is there any simple compiler for windows(or GUI) that could solve my problem?If you haven't done this already you can right click on your Dos Prompt icon and go to properties, then go to Screen, then change the initial size of your prompt to the largest it will go, (50 lines I think). That might give you a little more room...

Business Objects Web Service Interface for Scheduling (without Java SDK)
Task:
> use BO web service interface to schedule report generation and fetch job with generated PDF object without having to use Java (Webservice) SDK
Detailed requirements:
> get session ID : ok, session WSDL, <BO server alias>/dswsbobje/services/Session , method "session"
> schedule a specific report : in general clear, via <BO server alias>/dswsbobje/services/BIPlatform, method "schedule"
> set report format to "PDF": is that possible ? With which WSDL and method ?
> schedule right now and only once: is that possible ? With which WSDL and method ?

> does schedule response contain jobID for later fetching of completed job ?
> how to fetch scheduled job for check of completion ?
> how to check status of job concerning completion ?
> how to fetch created PDF from completed job ?
With focus on my research (have checked and tested with soapUI), WSDL interface of BO seems not to be sufficient to fullfil the upper requirements, so I have to use BO Java SDK, which is powerful enough. Am I right ? Can you provide insights how to fullfil the requirements with the web service interface ? Would make whole implementation simpler (invocation from Tibco, ESB implementation).The error you're hitting is presumably JBO-25030.
Look to the "merge" command. In the parent you specify just the key of the preexisting parent record, and then in the child you specify your new child record.
