Java and FLV media question

Here is my problem:
I have an 18 min FLV content. Aspect ratio is 720 x 480. The FLV timeline controls are not as customized as I want it. Because there is ad content and we dont want the audience to skip the ads. Suppose the audience has watched 3 minutes of the video content and an ad shows up. Despite having the entire clip being downloaded over a fast connection, I dont want the audience to be able to fast forward and skip any bit of the video. They can rewind and scrub up to the point they have watched, for example the 3 min mark because htey have already seen that much of the video. I was wondering if there is a Java video player that supports FLV with the added functionality I wanted.

You need:
1. A JDBC driver for MYSQL (Which is easily available)
2. A MYSQL Database with data
3. An userid and password of this Database
4. Port number the database server is listening on
5. The url (combination of all above) that you will have to write so that your java application starts talking to the DB.
Make sure
1. The JDBC Driver for this database is in the classpath.
2. The database is started and running.
Hope this helps.

  • Materialized View and Ord Media questions

    Hey Guys,
My first question is on the use and creation of materialized views which i have previously done using TOAD. The question that i have is where/if can i visually see the constraints that are on a materialized view and where is the information for "next refresh" times placed?
Question two is about viewing informaiton on ord media objects that are stored. Previously, i had the ability to double click one of these elememts in the data view and see the information related to that instance of the ord media object, but the SQL developer does not seem to have this ability??
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks Kris,
The reason that i asked about the constraints on MV is because when you create a materialized view over a db link with primary key, it will place a not null constraint on every column. This is obviously no good because some rows are bound to contain nulls and these need to be removed and updated before it will work!
As for the ord objects, it just makes it a little easier for testing to see what they are :).
Anyway, its looking great and i hope these features will be in the next release?
    Cheers David

  • Installd Ffox 3.6.15. Redo Flash AGAIN? How can I: Tweak 2 fix plugin-container crashes/hangs10X/day,and 2) Avoid need to reinstall Java, Flash,& other media plugins(Flash, Realplayr/Quiktime Alternative, Media Player Classic)? Ffox fan

plugin-container crashes and hangs many times daily all my time eaten up by upgrading too frequently to new Ffox versions, only to find that I must then spend a whole day jumping thru hoops upgrading almost all of my add-ons too.
I now find, to my horror, that the hideous virus-magnet IE 8 is needed if I want to surf at a reasonable speed and not spend all day dealing with Ffox new versions' Known Issues. Only good thing I have seen about ver. 3.6.15 is slightly better launch-times. Since 3.6 cane out, I must spend 10 minutes just waiting for Firefox to load and give me a browser screen. Help! I love you guys, but your core browser developers need to have better comms with the Javaa/flash/Adobe and other must-have add-on people! And PLEASE fix all these "plugin-container" crashes and hangs I get, that lock my machine for 10-15 min at a time. Not everybody has 16 gigs of RAM, you know! I think the "plugin-container" running as a separate process idea might need to be COMPLETELY re-engineered! YOU CAN DO IT! LET'S GET BACK TO LEAN AND MEAN, and not bloat ourselves off our hard-won User Preference / great security pedestal with the kind of feature-creep that IS DEMOLISHING IE's slave-userbase with the hard-won advanced-user preference for Firefox
    and our core values. FAST-LEAN-SECURE.
Where have they gone? I LOVE Firefox
and all it stands for! Let's not trip
over our own features here. Already I
    see SeaMonkey and leaner, faster
browsers hot on our heels, THIN and
FAST! Firefox doesn't need to integrate
    with EVERY thru-the-browser media tool
on the planet! I've been writing code
    since 1968, and I can't imagine how a
    lesser-experienced user (that code
should be written for) could possibly
    have navigated all the side-upgrades
and Known Issues to make Firefox run as
sweetly as it used to! He'd just give
up when he finds he has to separately
find and install the EXACT 3rd-party
version that Firefox needs for its
newest release: things like a new Java
runtime environment, and hunt down and
    correctly install ALL the Flaming-Phox-
compatible buggy plugins from half the
    browser-media warezmakers on the
PLANET! He'd give up halfway thru trying to navigate to, D/L, and install
what he needs from Oracle Java, Adobe,
Flash, media players and their codecs,
etc etc.... WRITE FOR THE NOOBS! As it
is, I have invested 2 full workdays in
just keeping your last 2 quick releases
happy. And having another release spaced only 3-4 days apart from the
last- well, that just doesn't fly.
Better to release a hotfix or patch that a user can set FFox to automatically D/L and self-install on
schedule. Just look! Now you've got me
    talking like that lawbreaking swine
Gates! We want to keep on absorbing
the average-user center and take it ALL
away from him, not go on feature,
    plugin, and upgrade-bloating the best
    browser EVER!
You're facing choices that can kill
us! PLEASE DONT BLOAT! AND PLEASE ONLY
RELEASE A NEW VER WHEN YOU CAN REALLY
GET RID OF SERIOUS PROBLEMS AND MAKE
HER FASTER AND LEANER AND BETTER UNDER
THE HOOD! Already the Noobs are getting
mindlessly scared when you talk about
"fixing a Security problem"- really a
minor issue that SHOULD be taken care
of by their antimalware solution- in
the Release Notes splash screen they
get on install of a new ver! Thanks, my
friends, for all your work, and YES I
WILL sit here all day trying to find
the add-ons that need to be selected,
    downloaded, and upgraded from 10
    different 3rd-party sites who are
fighting our browser, not dancing with
it! DON'T EVEN LOOK Evil! But I have
to confess that at this point, Gates-hate is all that keeps me on
    these all-day new-release tasks. Even
my best techs are starting to advise me
to install SeaMonkey or another of the
newer, thinner browsers... or just stop
upgrading Firefox and roll it back to
when it was sharp, fast, and lean! Look
at all the users wanting to go back to
3.6.13 or earlier and looking for archives of old versions. THANKS AND
GOOD LUCK! I'LL DIE BEFORE I GIVE UP ON
    MY BELOVED FIREFOX!
    -The CRASHMAN, ATTORNEY AT LAW

Thanks! I've already used the built-in plugin checker but it gives very vague answers like (research this" and update this" all of which I did, starting with Java and Flash, Adobe Reader, Shockwave, 100% reinstall of Java newest ver. TWICE- but FFox keeps reporting that I only have the FORMER version installed, although when I go to Java console or Check the Flash executable at the MFR's site, there is NO doubt that the updates were successful!
But the browser just seems to refuse to acknowledge the update!
And I don't HAVE 6 hrs/day at the 'puter just to play with add-ons
and plugups. So I'm going down the line now, ripping out extension
programs and replacing/reinstalling/updating the plugins one by
one- even went to M$ to get advice on THEIR For-Firefox ActiveX
stuff. No dice so far. And yeah, The plugin-container WAS made so
that a plugin, add-on or I guess extension app failure wouldn't take
the whole FF browser down with it if the 3rd-party ware crashed. It's supposed to shake it off and go on, kinda like how XP sometimes
restarts Explorer (not the IE browser) so I don't have to reboot the
    whole sys.
That was the foundation of my remark about stepping back and
re-engineering the whole "Plugin-container" idea, because it seems
to do more harm than good. Maybe that's why the Firefox core
engine won't recognize my upgrades- for example I TWICE installed the Flash update to 10.2.xx (latest ) and the Flash Mfr's
site verifies my upgrade as a successful 10.2, but Firefox plugins
check say I have a 10.1, the old one. What gives here? The sneaky
    PLUGIN CONTAINER, METHINKS!
Now I'm disabling things on the Extensions Apps list, thinking
that might help, like disabling my video downloader and other
download helpers/managers... and I notice that there is a LOT of
Java stuff in there too as well as in the blue Lego Plugins List... and
in the past the FFox always told me if a new version of Ffox was
incompatible with any older 3rd-party app Extensions and notified
me QUICKLY if something I had in there was Outdated. I'm big on
using the neat-o "find updates" button at the bottom if that happens, and usually get a newer version right away. The prob
really lies in the Blue Lego Plugins and their new Container, I
    believe.
So Ill still keep Plugin-innin' away! Will post here what success I have! (OR maybe M$ is deliberately sabotaging our ActiveX-cripple
mess as it loads!) Thanks for the suggestions a37271!

  • Im new to java and hope somebody can help me with my question

    Hi!
Im quite new to java and I just have some simple questions..
can someone please tell what kinds of error are considered as language violation for java? where can I find more info about these errors?
can someone give me a simple example on a kind of error that cannot be caught in both compilation and runtime? I hope someone can help me out. Thanks in advance!!

    knightz211 wrote:
Im just asking about errors that might go against the language definition but cant be detected.. If it "goes against the language defintion," it will be detected by the compiler. That's half of the compiler's job is to tell you what you've done that violates the language spec.
because it confuses me when they say that such errors might occur so I just want to know what might these errors be.. sorry for that..Who's "they"? What exactly* did "they" say about "such errors"? It sounds to me like you're just confused, and you think there's something mysterious and inexplicable going on but you don't know what and don't even know what you're asking.
I would suggest not worrying about hypothetical problems that you can't even put into words and focussing on learning Java. Along the way, if you encounter real, specific, actual problems, ask about them, and you'll probably get answers about the problems themselves and the language or theory behind them.

  • Safari 1.3.2 and Streaming flv media bug

Tested the latest Safari on Tiger and streaming an flv file within a flash website seems ok.
However, on an older machine with Safari 1.3.2 the flash website works ok except the steaming flv media which does not play at all.
Does anyone know of a workaround for this? Or why this is happening?
PS:Mac and IE is fine, as is PC and IE.

Yes. The "Integrate with Internet Browsers" function in the iGetter Tools menu is ON.
Sorry. I'll mark this topic as answered even is NOT true because I make mistake and post it TWICE.

  • Three questions about Java and Ftp

Hello, i've the following questions about Java and Ftp:
1- .netrc file is in $HOME directory but i can't access to this directory from java code. The following line producesan Exception (directory doesn't exists)
    FileWriter file = new FileWriter ("$HOME/.netrc");
2- .netrc file must have the following permissions: -rw- --- --- but when i create the .netrc file the following permissions are on default: -rw- r-- r--, how can i change this permissions? (In java code, i can't use chmod.....)
3- Are there any way to pass parameters to a .netrc file? If i get to do this i needn't change the permissions because i can't modify or create/destroy this file.
    Thanks in advanced!!!

1- .netrc file is in $HOME directory but i can't
access to this directory from java code. The
    following line producesan Exception (directory
    doesn't exists)
FileWriter file = new FileWriter ("$HOME/.netrc");$HOME would have to be replaced by a shell, I don't
think you can use it as part of a legal path.
    Instead, use System.getProperty("user.home");
    Ok, thanks
2- .netrc file must have the followingpermissions:
-rw- --- --- but when i create the .netrc file the
following permissions are on default: -rw- r--r--,
how can i change this permissions? (In java code,i
    can't use chmod.....)Yes, you can: Runtime.exec("chmod ...");
I need to use estrictly the .netrc with -rw- --- --- permissions
Yes, i can use Runtime.exec ("chmod ..."); but i don't like very much this solution because is a slow solution, am i right?
3- Are there any way to pass parameters to a.netrc
file? If i get to do this i needn't change the
    permissions because i can't modify orcreate/destroy
this file.I don't think so. Why do you need the .netrc file in
Java at all? Writing a GUI frontend?I want to use automatic ftp in a java program and FTP server, the files and path are not always the same, so i can:
    - modify .netrc (for me is the complex option)
    - destroy and create a new .netrc (is easier but i have permissions problem)
    - use .netrc with parameters but i haven't found any help about it
    Thanks for your prompt reply!!!!

  • Playback of flv using Flash Player 10.1 and Flash Media Interactive Server jerky.

    Greetings:
Thanks for taking time to read this.
    Here is our problem:
Playback of flv using Flash Player 10.1 and Flash Media Interactive Server jerky.
Playback ok if using Flash Player 10.0 with Flash Media Interactive Server.
    1. Record live using Flash Media Interactive Server
    2. Attempt to play back resulting flv using Flash Player 10.1 and Flash Media Interactive Server.
Video plays ok for a few seconds and then plays faster than as recorded -- very jerky.
    Audio plays at normal rate.
OS: Windows 7 64bit (two different machines. All updates installed.)
    Web browser: FireFox 3.6.10 and IE8 8.0.7600.16385
    Flash version: 10.1.85.3
Tried with hardware acceleration on and off.
Note: Also had another person report the same thing on a Mac.
We had been using Flex 3, so we tried building with Flash Builder 4 – had the same problem.
This is a show stopper for us.
Tried using Wowza and everything worked.
We’re dropping FMIS and switching to Wowza.
If someone can suggest something else to try, we would appreciate it.

    Hi Greg,
So if I understand correctly, your findings are:
Flash Player 10.1.85.3 + Flash Media Interactive Server = Jerky Video
Flash Player 10.0.x.x + Flash Media Interactive Server = Smooth Video
Flash Player 10.1.85.3 + Wowza = Smooth Video
And what about Flash Player 10.0.x.x + Wowza?
Also, if you could check the network traffic to confirm if it's Flash Player causing the issue or it is receiving it like that from FMIS.
    Cheers

  • Problems with FLVs and personal media player

We've created our own media player that will handle FLVs, SWF
and MP3 files. Its in the library as a linked item and we wrote a
class to handle everything for it. First we started coding for the
FLVs (not getting to the other 2 yet) and we're having problems
with them. Sometimes the FLV won't load at all, sometimes it will
stop about 2 to 3 seconds into the FLV and won't play anymore, and
100% of the time, if we go to a new frame (this is for CBT) and
load another FLV it won't show up at all. While IN flash, it will
load the first FLV, but when running it as a SWF or Published EXE,
its "sketchy" about loading even the first FLV.
the information is pulled from an XML file that has what file
it is, the position on the screen, etc. The FLV lives in the same
directory as the SWF file does as well.
To load in the mediaPlayer and FLV file we use this:
    content_mc.addChild(new mediaPlayer(mediaFile, myType,
    mediaX, mediaY));
the content_mc is an empty movie clip that just sits on the
stage so we can go through and erase all the children for the next
    frame:
    var mcNumChildren:uint = content_mc.numChildren;
    for(var c:uint=0; c<mcNumChildren; c++) {
    content_mc.removeChildAt(0);
I've attached the class for the mediaPlayer linked library
    item.
does anyone know why this is giving me problems? we've had
everyone here look at it, and we just can't figure it out!

I believe Quicktime Pro (which is available for Windoze) is capable of opening any WMP files and then you just export it as iPod format. That is how I get video onto the iPod. The Music and Videos all can be placed onto your iPod through iTunes.
So, if you are creating videos in your program, and want them on your iPod, then that is how you can do it.
Videos on your iPod have nothing to do with the formatting of your music. But, as the earlier post stated, change your prefs in iTunes to import as MP3. But, your videos HAVE to be in MP4 or M4V format to work on the iPod.
    Good luck... and I'm a j3susfreak too

  • Few question about Java and MySQL connection

    Hi!
I have some problems with creating connection between Java and MySQL.
I followed the restrictions in mysql-connector-java.jar' readme, I set the CLASSPATH :
    CLASSPATH=.;D:/mysql/mysql-connector-java.jar;
I copied this jar file to the right place (descripted above), and I used the right steps to load it:
Class.forName('com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"); and it throws a ClassNotFoundException
Why? All the paths are correct, everything is on the right place.... I dont know why.
When I installed the JBuilder8, and copied the jar file to JBuilder8/jdk4/jre/lib/ext it worked without any CLASSPATH in enviromental variables.
If I want to run my program on machines where are not JBuilder, what should I do?
    Please help, if you can.
    Thanks,
    henpanta

Yeah. So if I compiled my program with JBuilder to an .exe file, I cant run it on other machines, if the jar file isnt in the same place?
If I tried your advice, java -classpath mymainclass I got the next message:
main class not found. Believe me, its there. :(

  • Java and Networks - questions

    Hi,
I have this idea in my head, and i wanna get it out..
Okie the plan is that I want to create something like a macro program. The special thing is that I want to create a server and 2 clients. The thing I want is that whenever I hit a special key from Client1, that key is going to be sent to the server, then the server is going to modify it, and then send to the Client2. And then the Client2 will invoke the key just like a macro program.
Okie the networking part, I kindda have an idea what how to do it. However since it is more like a macro program, I want it (client/server) to run simutaniously with other programs I am running.
    Ex:
Let's say I am playing a game, I hit number 1 to signal the game that I want my unit to attack something. Meanwhile the Client gotta capture the key 1 that I just hit and send it to the server and then the client2, and then perform an action of pressing a key that a server sends to.
Could anyone have an idea of how to do the capture keys and invoke keys as I mentioned above?
    Thank you
please email me at [email protected] if you could help me out

JNI (Java Native Interface) is the interface between Java and C (usually native functions in C). In C you can do a lot more low-level stuff than in Java, particularly interacting with the OS at a system level. This is the native part.
Ie, the system knows about all key events. It then sends them to the OS, that only directs them to the program with focus. (Might be java, might not. But no program can get keyevents intended for another program).
Using JNI, you could intercept the keyevents betweent the system and the os, and do what you want with them.
But, I don't know JNI, and I don't know much about it. This is mainly guesswork. It's along the right track, but the system/os stuff might not be 100% correct.
The other thing is, once you start writing code that interacts directly with the system, it loses all cross-platform compatibility. IE, if you write something that interacts with windows, it obviously won't work on Linux.

Oh, I see, you are running you JSP from a portal environment?.... I would ask this question in the Portal forum.
It also might depend upon the version and implementation of JSP you are using. We have made images from a JSP, but newer versions of JSP server software might explicitly disallow it since it is now explicitly unsupported.
