JAVA Combining Applications & Applets

I'm a student working with GA's and I'm wondering if it's possible to do a couple things:
1) Is it possible to tweak JDK's optimization settings to run code faster with less safety? - I need speed!!
2) Say I have data within a standard APPLICATION (class blahblah java static void main (strings[] args) etc.) and I want to pass that data into an APPLET or some system that can graph the data of the program as it is generated? Is this possible? Is their a tutorial or some simple (by simple I mean < 20 lines) code I could learn from please?
Thanks...

1. No. You can't increase speed by altering safety. There's a large amount of performance information in this site - both in Sun documents and these forums, do some searching using the advanced search link at the upper right.
Here's an online book on performance: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/performance/
2. Just code the whole thing as an application. Applet isn't needed.
Here's a tutorial on Java 2D: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/2d/index.html

  • For standalone java applications Applet is better or Frame is better?

    Hi Every body,
    Iam new to java standalone application developement.As per my knowledge both Applet aswell as Frame concept can be used to develop java
    standalone applications, if Iam right. My application need menus, drop down menus and it also need to connect to backend database.So which is better?
    So please some body guide me.
    Thanks in Advance

    A JFrame not a frame will be most apropriate because that just what it supposed to be used for but u can consider a JApplet if u want to incorporate it into a web application.

  • Java card application and applet

    Hi
    I' am developing a java card application which has three applets (1-ID, 2-Purse, 3-Library). I mean the same card should be use for personal ID, purse, and as library card. Using eclipse I first have to create a new project.
    File-New-New project-java card project. Then in the package Explorer view right click src then New-other-java card Applet. My question is because my java card application has more than one applet how do I add the other two. Should I add the other two by clicking src again or just add them under the same source code belonging to the java card Applet created at the beginning.

    you mean by again doing right click src then New-other-java card Applet.

  • Netbeans Java Desktop Application Problem

    Hi
    I have build a java desktop application via netbeans and it creates a jnlp file to execute this applets however in my project when i press a button on an applet it opens another applet and send some parameter via html file how can i do that in desktop application because it doesnt have html file it only has jnlp file ?
    Thanks

    I guess I didnt make myself clear enough,I dont want to use another applet's public methods I want to execute it
    Lets make a scenario
    assume that I have an applet a and applet b
    on applet a there is a button called open applet b and when somebody press this button applet b will be opened
    Before I was doing that like this
                URL page = new URL("http://www.xxx.edu.tr/~team5/nps/build/giris.html");
                getAppletContext().showDocument(page,"_self");but now I made the project netbeans desktop application so I dont have any html file I only have jnlp and jar files
    so what should I do to maintain opening an applet from another applet?

    My guess is that you are using the ObjectFile loader, which is for a (don't remember which application) object (.obj) file, rather than using a 3ds loader, which would be for loading a .3ds file.
    You might want to go to this page: http://www.j3d.org/utilities/loaders.html and download the correct loader.

  • Front End for BW 3.5 and Java based application

    We are trying to connect two systems; SAP based (through BW) and Non-SAP based (Sybase, Java based) applications. We are exploring BI Java SDK with UDDI or XI services to bring Non-SAP data to NetWeaver. We don't want to store all data from sybase to BW. We could use Front end of BW or any other GUI from SAP Portal. I have heard options like UI, GUI machine, net weaver developer studio, visual composer. Ideally, we would like to combine non-sap and sap data in Business explorer/BW web browser but any other front end suggestion within Net weaver frame work will help us keep our cost down. Please advise.
    Thanks.

    We're in the middle of upgrading from 3.1 SP 22 BW w/6.20 SAPGUI. We've only upgraded a sandbox BW server at this point, but we have upgraded all BW team members with SAPGUI 6.40 FEP 5 and can successfully connect to our 3.5 and 3.1 BWs.

  • JRE 6 freeze browsers and Java Control Panel Applet stops working!

    Hello,
    this is the second time I got this problem with Java JRE 6 ! First one was a month or two ago:
    I have Java JRE 6 update 20 installed on a Windows 7 64bit ultimate. It was working...much time ago...then i found my browser (firefox, google chrome or IE8) was freezing when I open java application or test pages. I tried uninstalling it, cleaning the system with Revo Uninstaller, or CCleaner or JavaRA and reinstalling with no luck. The other problem is the same that user Mass8 had (http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5372196&start=15&tstart=0)
    ...my java control panel applet is not working and give me this:
    http://www.iouppo.com/lite/pics/df9b61008b5bf9de61a13d8bfa3ddad1.jpg
    I tried disabling UAC, running JRE, starting Win7 in safe mode with network...but browser always freeze. It's not a true freeze, with CPU busy at 100% (cpu stays in idle) but it seems to wait for something. It's not a problem with video card driver on my machine, because I can start java control panel from command prompt...and without the noddraw switch, using this command:
    javaw -Xbootclasspath/a:..\lib\deploy.jar -Duser.home="%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%" com.sun.deploy.panel.ControlPanel
    This was the description of my first time.....then I replaced my system with an Acronis image...and I used the system for sometimes....and Java was working until 3-4 days ago! So I did another image of the system with all things working.
    Then this morning...I tried the java test page.....and surprise! It's not working anymore!
    In these days I think I only disabled UAC and Account virtualization....maybe JAVA saves things there...and then when I disabled UAC (Windows7 deleted those folders and files) it can't find there anymore???? Who can help me?
    I don't want to restore my image every month!
    My system is 100% virus free and from the last image restoration I didn't visit suspicious sites and so on....I have antivirus and antispyware software...all is perfectly CLEAN. Any ideas or things to try?

    I'm beginning to think it's something related to Hybernation after using JAVA....I'm using it very often...and if I use it...and I suspect Java is KO...i try control panel and it doesn't works....then I try with browser and it freeze (or keep waiting...and i can only force to close it)
    THEN,
    when I reboot my system I get this window
    http://www.iouppo.com/lite/pics/09501eb799c165bb25ece8fd3261e41c.jpg
    suggesting me to rename the folder C:\Program in C:\Program1 ...and if i don't rename it...java will never work...instead if I allow it...Windows will fix it!......This until...the next hybernation....:(....
    try to replicate this...maybe I found where is the problem..

  • Why my JCOP do not create CAPs for my java card application?

    I am using Eclipse 3.3.1.1 and JCOP tools3.1.2.
    When I create Java card application or applet, it doesn't create cap files for me automatically. Why?
    I used JCOP before, it always created new CAP files replacing the older ones when I saved the source code.
    Does the version of Eclipse conflict with that of JCOP?
    By the way I am using JDK 1.6 for my default lib.
    Thanks!

    Well it works. I tested it with your version.
    - Check out if your project has the JCOP nature.
    - Check via the Navigator view if the javacard folder is created, including the .exp and .cap file (you need to refresh the last folder)
    - Check if your Eclipse project setting have automatic build enabled, otherwise you need to trigger the build automatically
    - Try to refresh, clean and rebuild the project

  • Java 1.5 Applet coexisiting with other versions of Java Applets

    We have a situation where an applet has been developed using java 1.5; however, the end user machine has java 1.4.2_03 which is required for different java applications/applets. We can not install java 1.5 since it will break multiple applications using java 1.4.2_03.
    Is it possible to use a java 1.5 applet on a machine in such a way that only the applet will use java 1.5 and all other java applications/applets will continue to use the default java 1.4.2_03?

    when compiling you can decide which compliance you want, java 1.5, 1.4 ...
    furthermore you can also set the vm-version when executing an application. (java -version:1.4)
    im not sure tho, if theres a way to use that for applets as well, i guess it depends on the particular browser plugin.
    i guess its easier if you just down-port your applet to 1.4.

  • Reg: java card application needs

    Dear experts,
    i am a newbie to java card, After a lot of googling, i found JACCAL to aid java card programming development. I have downloaded and installed it but i dont know how to use it? any help will be greatly appreciated,
    By the way, i need to know why do we need IDE or tools for java card programming?. Cant we complete right from typing program to till burning on card using the java card kit ? please correct me, if i am wrong.
    I have tested the sample programs successfully with java card kit 2.1.2. My doubt is, What are the needs for java card application, like what CAD, card and tools should be used or purchased(most of them ,i found from the web are outdated like JCOP, OCF).

    I see terms like ...
    Core Java: The main libraries.
    JDK: (J)ava (D)evelopement (K)it) - AKA: (S)oftware (D)evelopement (K)it although the terms are not exactly synonomous
    J2EE:(J)ava 2 (E)nterprise (E)dition (builds on the J2SE with additional librarities for true business application building)
    J2SE: (J)ava 2 (S)tandard (E)dition (The core libraries for general Java program developement, w/o the extra stuff that is in the J2EE

  • Auto start Java Card application

    Hello,
    is it possible to start a Java Card application from the SIM card right after the mobile is switched on?
    I talked to a guy from a SIM card manufacturer and he told me it's possible since the device checks on start if a Java Card application is present to display it in the phone's menu, but it's device dependant how it's done and if the application really will be started (which sounds kind of strange).
    Can someone give me more details if it's possible to auto start a application and how it's done ( code snippet would be great ; )?
    Thanks in advance,
    teric

    The first event after ME startup, which STK applet could catch is Terminal Profile.
    So, in applet class constructor should be smthng like
    ToolkitRegistry reg = ToolkitRegistry.getEntry();
    reg.setEvent(EVENT_PROFILE_DOWNLOAD);
    and applet will trigger on Terminal Profile arrival.

  • Java Card ROM Applets

    Hi
    I need to develop Java Card ROM Applets. I need to write native C Code for the Card.
    I read in forums that ROM Applets can only be loaded by Vendors. I am the Vendor.
    How can I write, compile and test native code for Java Card?
    I didn't find any support in Java Card Development Kit downloaded from Sun. Does it have support?
    Or is there any other Software kit which supports development of ROM Applets?
    Thanks
    Abheesh

    Most OS providers offer a so called custom masking process, where they merge your applications with the OS into ROM. For instance for JCOP @ NXP, you choose the mask (e.g. JCOP v2.4.1), provide the Java class files and Java Card export files and AIDs. They have an internal tool which created a custom mask where your application source code is residing in ROM. All you need to do now is to instantiate and personalize your application.
    Advantages
    - Free EEPROM
    - Shorter personalization as applications do not need to be loaded
    - ROM read is fast than EEPROM read --> better performance as code is read all the time
    - ROM cannot as easy be attacked by e.g. light attacks
    Disadvantages
    - Long lead time of 4 - 6 weeks to produce the mask
    - Volume needs to be ordered (2 to 3 wafers minimum = ~10k ICs)
    - Dependent on the OS provider <-- compared to loading in EEPROM

  • SSO java sample application problem

    Hi all,
    I am trying to run the SSO java sample application, but am experiencing a problem:
    When I request the papp.jsp page I end up in an infinte loop, caught between papp.jsp and ssosignon.jsp.
    An earlier thread in this forum discussed the same problem, guessing that the cookie handling was the problem. This thread recommended a particlar servlet , ShowCookie, for inspecting the cookies for the current session.
    I have installed this cookie on the server, but don't see anything but one cookie, JSESSIONID.
    At present I am running the jsp sample app on a Tomcat server, while Oracle 9iAS with sso and portal is running on another machine on the LAN.
    The configuration of the SSO sample application is as follows:
    Cut from SSOEnablerJspBean.java:
    // Listener token for this partner application name
    private static String m_listenerToken = "wmli007251:8080";
    // Partner application session cookie name
    private static String m_cookieName = "SSO_PAPP_JSP_ID";
    // Partner application session domain
    private static String m_cookieDomain = "wmli007251:8080/";
    // Partner application session path scope
    private static String m_cookiePath = "/";
    // Host name of the database
    private static String m_dbHostName = "wmsi001370";
    // Port for database
    private static String m_dbPort = "1521";
    // Sehema name
    private static String m_dbSchemaName = "testpartnerapp";
    // Schema password
    private static String m_dbSchemaPasswd = "testpartnerapp";
    // Database SID name
    private static String m_dbSID = "IASDB.WMDATA.DK";
    // Requested URL (User requested page)
    private static String m_requestUrl = "http://wmli007251:8080/testsso/papp.jsp";
    // Cancel URL(Home page for this application which don't require authentication)
    private static String m_cancelUrl = "http://wmli007251:8080/testsso/fejl.html";
    Values specified in the Oracle Portal partner app administration page:
         ID: 1326
         Token: O87JOE971326
         Encryption key: 67854625C8B9BE96

         Log off-URL: http://wmli007251:8080/testsso/papplogoff.jsp
    Finally I have specified the cookie version to be v1.0 when running the regapp.sql script. Other parameters for this script are copied from the values specified above.
    Unfortunately the discussion in the earlier thread did not go any further but to recognize the cookieproblem, so I am now looking for help to move further on from here.
    Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

    Pierre - When you work on the sample application, you should test the pages in a separate browser instance. Don't use the Run Page links from the Builder. The sample app has a different authentication scheme from that used in the development environment so it'll work better for you to use a separate development browser from the application testing browser. In the testing browser, to request the page you just modified, login to the application, then change the page ID in the URL. Then put some navigation controls into the application so you can run your page more easily by clicking links from other pages.

  • SSO between a Java EE application (Running on CE) and r/3 backend

    Hi All,
    Over the past few days I have been trying to implement a SSO mechanism between NW CE Java Apps and R/3 backend without any success. I have been trying to use SAP logon tickets for implementing SSO.
    Below is what I need:
    I have a Java EE application which draws data from R/3 backend and does some processing before showing data to the users. As of now the only way the Java App on CE authenticates to r/3 backend is by passing the userid and pwds explicitly. See sample authentication code below:
    BindingProvider bp = (BindingProvider) myService;
    Map<String,Object> context = bp.getRequestContext();
    context.put(BindingProvider.USERNAME_PROPERTY, userID);
    context.put(BindingProvider.PASSWORD_PROPERTY, userPwd);
    Now this is not the way we want to implement it. What we need is when the user authenticates to CE ( using CE's UME) CE issues a SAP logon ticket to the user. This ticket should be used to subsequently login to other system without having to pass the credentials. We have configured the CE and Backend to use SAP logon tickets as per SAP help.
    What I am not able to figure out is: How to authenticate to SAP r/3 service from the java APP using SAP logon tickets. I couldnt find any sample Java  code on SAP help to do this. (For example the above sample code authenticates the user by explicitly passing userid and pwd, I need something similar to pass a token to the backend)
    Any help/pointers on this would be great.
    Thanks,
    Dhananjay

    Hi,
    Have you imported the java certificate into R/3 backend system ? if so.
    Then just go to backend system and check on sm50 for each applicaion instance of any error eg.
    SM50-> Display files (ICON) as DB symbol with spect.(cntrlshiftF8)
    You will get logon ticket details.
    with thanks,
