Java Connectivity - No classes appearing in the Java Beans Classes dropdown

Hi,
VERY NEW user to Crystal Reports.  I am trying to create a report using a java class as a datasource.  I have updated the setting in the CRConfig.xml file, and can get the Java Beans Connectivity screen to appear, but is shows none of my classes in the dropdown.  I found a knowlege base entry that indicated this problem was caused by the JavaBeansClassPath value in the CRConfig.xml file being invalid.  But I've verified the location and it is pathed directly to the classes.
Not sure what I am missing, but any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Ted,
Thanks for the reply.  I checked out each of your suggestions, but haven't had any luck thus far.  Here's what I found:
1.  We created a simple method in an existing public class to return a ResultSet.  The method looks like this:
public ResultSet GetAllMediaTypesRS()
      String strFuncName = "ScsXDMDatabase::GetAllMediaTypesRS : ";
      ScsDebug coutDebug = new ScsDebug();
      String strSqlStmt;
      String strMediaType;
      ScsStringList sslReturnList = new ScsStringList();
      // Create the SQL to get all the Displayable Media Types.
      strSqlStmt =
         "SELECT DISTINCT mt.Media_Type_Name "
            + "FROM dbo.Media_Type mt "
            + "WHERE mt.Media_Type_Rqst_Display_Ind = 1 "
            + "ORDER BY mt.Media_Type_Name";
      coutDebug.println(strFuncName + "SQL Statement:  " + strSqlStmt);
      // Run the Query
      Statement stmt = null;
      ResultSet SQLResult = null;
      try
         stmt = GetConnection().createStatement();
         SQLResult = stmt.executeQuery(strSqlStmt);
      } //End of Try
      catch (SQLException sqle)
         if (sqle.getErrorCode() != 0)
            coutDebug.println(
               "Error in ExecuteQuery: "
                  + "Error code - "
                  + sqle.getErrorCode());
            coutDebug.println("Message - " + sqle.getMessage());
      return SQLResult;
The signature, and the method look fine to us, but maybe we are missing something obvious.
2. We do use JDK 1.5 to compile the classes, but my JavaDir setting in the CRConfig.xml file points to jre1.6.0_02.  I assume this is OK.
3. We do see java.exe start up when opening the JavaBeans connection.
4. No firewall issues as we are inside our corporate network.
Any other thoughts or ideas?  I did see a knowledge base entry that indicated the cause of this particular problem is that the JavaBeansClassPath in CRConfig.xml is incorrect or invalid.  I've validated the path takes me right to the classes, so I believe that is OK.  Is there some way that we can see the actual path that is searched when the JavaBeans connection is opened?
Thanks for your help.

  • Getting the error " [java] Problem invoking WLST - java.lang.RuntimeException: Could not find the OffLine WLST class " while building the O2A 2.1.0 PIP

    Getting the error " [java] Problem invoking WLST - java.lang.RuntimeException: Could not find the OffLine WLST class " while building the O2A 2.1.0 PIP. I am using the Design Studio 4.3.2 for building the O2A 2.1.0 PIP. Please let me know how to resolve this issue. Here I am enclosing the log file .

    We have basically the same issue when we try to create the interpreter using the embedded method..
    I was able to use the interpreter embedded in a java client as long as the weblogic jars were located in a weblogic install if I tried to use them from a maven repository no luck at all...
    All of this worked easily in 9.2 now in 10.3 it seems more error prone and less documented.
    I have seen close to a 100 posts on issues related to this so is there a document which outlines specifics....
    We / I have used weblogic now for almost 10 years and moving from 8.1 to 9.2 was painful and we expected the move from 9.2 to 10.3 not to be soo bad but its proving to be as painful if not more painful than moving to 9.2. We seem to spend a good bit of our time working around issues in the next new release that were not in the previous one..
    Any help would be appreciated I think we will open a support case but even that is more painful...
    Any help would be greatly appreciated..
    PS: We confirmed that all jars in the startweblogic classpath were in the startup. The server we have the embedded wlst instance is a managed server and we are using the component in a war... Are there any restrictions which we are unaware of.
    Error we get is

  • How to load a class dynamically in the current/system class loader

    I need to dynamically load a new jdbc driver jar to the current/system class loader... Please note that creating a new classloader will not help since the DriverManager refers to the systemclassloader itself.
    Restarting the application by appending the jar to its classpath will solve the problem but I want to avoid doing this.

    Did you then create a ClassLoader to load the JDBC
    driver and then install it into the system as
    directed by the JDBC specification (ie
    Class.forName(someClassName))?
    And then try to use it from a class loaded fromsome
    other ClassLoader (i.e. the system class loader)?
    If you did not try this please explain why not.O.K. I just looked at the source to
    java.sql.DriverManager. I did not know what I was
    talking about, as what I suggested above will not
    work.
    This is my new Idea:
    Create a URLClassLoader to load the JDBC driver also
    in this ClassLoader you need to place a helper class
    that does the following:
    public class Helper {
    public Driver getJDBCDriver(String driverClassName,
    String url) {
    try {
    Class.forName(driverClassName);
    Driver d = DriverManager.getDriver(url);
    return d;
    catch(Exception ex) {
    ex.printStackTrace();
    return null;
    }Now create an instance of the Helper class in the new
    ClassLoader, and call its getJDBCDriver method to get
    an instance of the driver (you will probably have to
    create an interface in the root class loader that the
    Helper implements so that you can easily call it).
    Now from the root classloader you can make calls
    directly to the returned Driver and bypass the
    DriverManager and its restrictions on cross
    ClassLoader access.
    The only catch here is that you would have to call to
    the returned Driver directly and not use the Driver
    Manager.This sounds like will work but I did not want to load DriverManager in a new classloader.. I did a hack
    I unzip the jar dynamically in a previously known location (which I included in my classpath when launching the app). The classLoader finds the class now though it did not exist when the app was launched !
    A hack of-course but works eh ..

  • Multiple instances of the same bean class in session?

    Im trying to think of a way to have multiple instances of the same bean class in session scope using JSF. For example, lets say that I have two <h:dataTable>s on the same page. They both use the backing bean called genericBean. Now, the content for genericBean will be different for each <h:dataTable>. In fact, the data source that backs genericBean is not known until runtime. It could be a database, web service, etc.
    What I would like is for when JSF needs access genericBean instead of looking for the value with key genericBean in the session map it looks for genericBean_[some runtime ID]. I could specify this id in EL on a custom component, as a request parameter or whatever.
    I think that I need the bean to be in session scope because the tables are complex and I want them to be editable.
    I have some ideas about how I can do this but I was wondering if someone has already solved this problem or if there is a standard way to do this using tools like Shale, etc.
    Thanks,
    Randy

    Well, I came up with an interesting solution to this so I thought that I would post it here.
    I have a page that looks like this.
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>My Page</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <f:view>
    <f:subview id="component1">
    <jsp:include page="component.jsp">
    <jsp:param name="id" value="a" />
    </jsp:include>
    </f:subview>
    <hr>
    <f:subview id="component2">
    <jsp:include page="component.jsp">
    <jsp:param name="id" value="b" />
    </jsp:include>
    </f:subview>
    </f:view>
    </body>
    </html>
    And component.jsp looke like this.
    <f:verbatim>
    <p>
    <h1>Component
    </f:verbatim>
    <h:outputText value=" #{param.id}" />
    <f:verbatim>
    </h1>
    </p>
    </f:verbatim>
    <h:form>
    <h:outputText value="#{component.id}" />
    <h:outputText value="#{component.value}" />
    <h:commandButton value="increment" action="#{component.increment}" />
    <h:commandButton value="decrement" action="#{component.decrement}" />
    <f:verbatim>
    <input type="hidden" name="id"
    value="</f:verbatim><h:outputText value="#{param.id}"/><f:verbatim>" />
    </f:verbatim>
    </h:form>
    The idea is that I want component.jsp to be initialized differently based on the id param. The component managed bean is configured to be in session scope but I want the component instance for id a and id b to be different instances in session scope. Therefore, I added a custom variable resolver to handle this.
    public Object resolveVariable(FacesContext context, String name) {
    // This id will be different for the different subviews.
    HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest) context.getExternalContext() .getRequest();
    String id = request.getParameter("id");
    // If there is an id in the request then check if this is a bean that can have multiple
    // instances in session scope.
    if ((id != null) && (id.length() > 0)) {
    ExternalContext ec = context.getExternalContext();
    // Build the new name for the key of this bean
    String newName = name + "_" + id;
    Object value = null;
    // See if the bean instance already esists.
    if ((null == (value = ec.getRequestMap().get(newName))) &&
    (null == (value = ec.getSessionMap().get(newName))) &&
    (null == (value = ec.getApplicationMap().get(newName)))) {
         // We could not find the bean instance in scope so create the bean
         // using the standard variable resolver.
    value = original.resolveVariable(context, name);
    // Now check if the bean implements that page component interface. If it is
    // a page component then we want to rename the key to access this bean so
    // that the instance is only used when the id is provided in the request.
    // For example, if there are two components (a and b) we will have in session scope
    // component_a and component_b. The will each point to a unique instance of the
    // Component bean class.
    if (value instanceof PageComponent) {
    // Try to get the value again
    if (null != (value = ec.getRequestMap().get(name))) {
         // Initialize the bean using the id
    ((PageComponent) value).initInstance(id);
    ec.getRequestMap().remove(name);
    ec.getRequestMap().put(newName, value);
    } else if (null != (value = ec.getSessionMap().get(name))) {
    ((PageComponent) value).initInstance(id);
    ec.getSessionMap().remove(name);
    ec.getSessionMap().put(newName, value);
    } else if (null != (value = ec.getApplicationMap().get(name))) {
    ((PageComponent) value).initInstance(id);
    ec.getApplicationMap().remove(name);
    ec.getApplicationMap().put(newName, value);
    return value;
    return original.resolveVariable(context, name);
    }

  • Have XML data in a string, can't extract it to the XML bean class

    Hi All, I have a string that contains XML data, for example,
    string str has "<one>1<\one><two>2<\two>". i have the XML beans classes,
    but i am unable to get this data out of the string and add it to the xml bean
    classes.
    I anybody has a clue as to how to code this, please help ASAP.
    Thanks,

    Hi Kunnev,
    Lets say I have an xsd
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <xs:schema
         xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
         xmlns:bea="http://www.bea.com/xmlbeans/Sample.xsd"
         targetNamespace="http://www.bea.com/xmlbeans/Sample.xsd"
         elementFormDefault="qualified"
         attributeFormDefault="unqualified">
    <xs:element name="Person">
    <xs:complexType>
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:element name="FirstName" type="xs:string" />
    <xs:element name="LastName" type="xs:string" />
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>
    </xs:element>
    </xs:schema>
    Now after I compile this I would get XMLBean classes
    Like Person is a xmlBean class. The code snippet below shows how I can convert
    a string into a xmlbean of type Person.
    XmlOptions xopt = new XmlOptions();
    xopt.setDocumentType(Person.type);
    Person x0 = (Person) XmlObject.Factory.parse(
    "<xml-fragment>" +
    "<FirstName>desc---1</FirstName>" +
    "<LastName>desc---2</LastName>" +
    "</xml-fragment>", xopt);
    Person pp = (Person)x0;
    Now pp is a XMLBean object which can be added to the tree.
    Let me know if you have any questions.
    Thanks a lot,

  • Two pages binds on the same bean class problem

    i'm developing an HR application
    at the end of application
    the customer asked us for some requirements
    the requirements needed us to use some main forms that insert data

    we pass the object to be inserted from another form
    its ok we took a copy from the jspx
    and made another form that is used as a dialog
    and binds to the same bean class of the original page
    components and action ... etc
    its all good
    but a problem occurred
    when we tried this with pages of session scope
    when we popup the dialog form
    and navigate to the original form
    i find some parts of the dialog form at the bottom of the main from
    i find many extra components at the bottom
    you can say when i go to dialog and return to original
    i find the dialog form at the bottom of the original form that binds to the same class
    and vice versa
    what's the problem
    i'm waiting

    I second Simon. Try not to put such stuff in sessions. See if you can achieve the same with either requestScope or to the most pageFlowScope.

  • Does the java 1.4.2 sdk install the Java Runtime Environment twice?

    I just installed this and I noticed that it appears I have two copies of the JRE one in C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2 and one in C:\j2sdk1.4.2\jre\
    The contents of both folders look identical to me. Did the SDK install two copies? Did one copy come with Windows XP or Service Pack 1? In Add/Remove Programs there is one entry for the Java Runtime Environment and one for the SDK. I'd like to get rid of one of the copies of the JRE if possible. Thanks,
    Ollie

    The copy in Program Files is likely the Java plug-in used with your web browser. I only have 1.3.1 installed so I can't positively confirm your 1.4 installation. Under Control Panels, you should have a Java Plug-in control.

  • Websites that use java are not working. In the Java control panel, under advanced, default java for browsers "mozilla family" won't stay clicked

    I've recently gotten a new Windows 8 computer. Ever since, I've tried accessing certain websites (like www.cnet.com) and can't get the java scripts to load like for the drop down menus. When I hover over them they don't do anything. Other computers I have that run Windows 7 are working just fine.
    I've upgraded Firefox and Java to all of the newest versions but it's still not working. When I go to the Java control panel, under "Advanced" and under "Default Java for browsers", the check box next to "Mozilla family" won't stay checked. I'll check it, click "Apply" and "Ok" and then when I open it back up it's unchecked again.
    Help.

    I don't have a "dom.w3c_touch_events.expose" line. Is that something I should?
