Java Core Dump Issue with jdk 1.4.1

I have an application which is run as a batch process. it handles data ranging from 100 thousand to 3 million. This process was running without any problem with jdk1.3 , but with 1.4.1 i am not able to finish this process , it generates core dump every time and the process stops. The process is asyncronus , it spons two threads to do the processing. Is there any way to handle this ?

JDK 1.4.1 is not supported anymore by Sun. See also http://java.sun.com/products/archive/
"... These products are down-revision products that may have various bugs, Y2000, and possibly security issues associated with them. Sun in no way recommends these products be used in a live, production environment ..."
Try the latest 1.4.2 release. Go to http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html or even better, try 5.0 at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp

  • SSL communication issue with JDK 1.6.0_19

    Hi,
    I am facing issue with JDK 1.6.0_19. I have a Java client which communicate with the Server in SSL communication.so, It is able to communicate properly with the JDK <=1.6.0_18 version.But I got handling exception: javax.net.ssl.SSLException: HelloRequest followed by an unexpected  handshake message exception when the client is trying to communicate with the server in JDK 1.6.0_19.
    We are using mutual authentication.The client and the server both have the signed certificate.The client certificate has to be validated by the server to establish the connection.
    I have seen in forum that it is a renegotiation issue.So, if I enable the renegotiation flag by -Dsun.security.ssl.allowUnsafeRenegotiation=true it's working fine.But enabling renegotiation itself is a vulnerability.So, I can't enable renegotiation.
    I am using httpclient 4.0 and JSSE in client side and IIS in the server side for this SSL connection.
    I am not sure which side client or server initiating the renegotiation?
    Please help me out.
    I have tried Openssl command from console.
    The command is : openssl s_client -connect X.X.X:443 -CAfile "xxxxx" -cert "xxxxxxxx" -key "xxxxxxxxxx" -state -verify 20 here is the output:

    Thank you for your response.
    Yes I have set the particular proerty SSLAlwaysNegoClientCert to True and it is able to establish the ssl conneciton without initiating renegotiation from IIS server side.The property has to be set the metabase.xml file.
    Thank you very much once again.

    Through IBM, we got those answer :
    Looking at the javacore files, we're seeing OOM errors. However,
    looking at a heapdump, we're not seeing total heap space exhaustion -
    around half of the heap is occupied, and occupancy by the vartious
    objects seems, to me at least, to be normal.
    The threads
    seem to be using the compound class loader to load the customer's
    "Hibernate" code - and in the largest of the threads in the heapdump -
    (it consumes 258,720,168 bytes), the class org/hibernate/impl/Session
    Impl and its children - consume 129,540,864 bytes.
    The other 128,785,680 is consumed by org/hibernate/proxy/CGLIBLazyInitia
    lizer. There are some other classes that make up the small difference
    if you added these numbers.
    The class com/softleader/hibernate/util/HibernateUtil and its children
    consume 74,932,848 bytes.
    I could go on through the heapdump, but there are very large classes
    in here, and it may be more advantageous to get a verbosegc turned on
    to show the patterns of JVM Heap requirements.
    I suppose that the customer is developing this app for a 32bit
    architecture market, since they are keeping their JVM Heap within the
    32 bit limits. If this is the case, then Xmx=1280 and Xms=384 seems a
    more reasonable JVM setting. If they are not, and they want to try
    Xmx above 1280, then we have not yet had much experience with 64 bit
    but I'd expect that the larger heapsize would benefit the application.
    Either way, we need verbosegc turned on to monitor the heap requests.
    That mean, i have to turn up JVM Heap size? or what can i do for it?
    Thanks a lot.

    I'd hook up a profiler to your app and monitor it to see what's happening and what objects aren't playing nice.

  • Java/ATI driver issue with Minecraft on ArchLinux 64-bit

    I am having an issue with Java on ArchLinux. I think it has something to do with my graphics drivers. I have an Alienware M17x R2. Here are my specs:
    Intel Core i7 940XM
    8GB 1333MHz RAM
    Dual ATI 5870M in CrossFireX
    ArchLinux 64-bit
    I am using the open source ATI drivers (xf86-video-ati) and everything (ex. desktop compositing) is significantly faster than when I was running catalyst. I get an error when I launch minecraft though. It happens when I launch in the web browser and the jar. I also downloaded the AUR package which is essentially the same as the jar file with a shell script in the bin folder. I have also tried both OpenJDK6 and Oracle JDK/JRE and it happens on both. I have also tried replacing the lwjgl jars and putting the 64 bit so files in /opt/java/lib and renaming them to resemble the 32-bit filenames. Here is the console output from minecraft:

    Has anyone had any luck with this? I just got a set of 5. speakers to go with my sb li've! 5. card on xp x64, and ran into the same problem... it works fine on 32-bit, but I got a 64-bit processor for a reason and hate the fact that I can't have my surround working just because I'm using a 64-bit operating system. On AIX only IBMs java imploementation is available, so this has absolutly nothing to do with Sun.

  • Class loading issue with JDK 1.5

    I have recently loaded JDK 1.5 on a laptop that previously had version 1.3. The java code I need to run stopped working and I getget a java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError. I am logging the classpath and I see the jar file with the offending class is there.
    I checked my pathing even, since I know java will have a problem with slashes at the beginning of the path when it is called via command line. But all my pathing is absolute.
    In the code, I am using C to start up the JVM and then use JNI to communicate between java and C. Because of this complexity, I have searched the forums for problems with JNI and JDK 1.5. I found a case where turning off the JIT compilation kept the JVM from crashing for some users having issues with 1.5, but this approach did not work for me. Not too surprising, though, since this is really a classloading issue.
    Where do I go next? Anyone else having this problem?

    [http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/security/SunProviders.html]
    Reminder: Cryptographic implementations in the Sun JDK are distributed through several different providers
    ("Sun", "SunJSSE", "SunJCE", "SunRsaSign")
    for both historical reasons and by the types of services provided.
    General purpose applications SHOULD NOT request cryptographic services from specific providers. That is:
        getInstance("...", "SunJCE");  // not recommended
         vs.
        getInstance("...");            // recommended
    Otherwise, applications are tied to specific providers which may not be available on other Java implementations.
    They also might not be able to take advantage of available optimized providers (for example, hardware
    accelerators via PKCS11 or native OS implementations such as Microsoft's MSCAPI) that have a
    higher preference order than the specific requested provider.

  • Java Core Dump

    Hi all
    We have some problems on our production system that it keeps on dumping core dumps of about 3gigs each night and just kills the system. Looks like something wrong with java?

    Hello Stephan
    Most likely these dumps are being caused by an OutOfMemoryError in the java stack. Check note #1289240 How to deal with out of memory errors, for some hints on what to do.

  • Compatibility issues with JDK 1.6 Beta2

    I have a program that stores objects in JE. We are currently using JDK1.5.0_07 and works quite well for our purpose. Using JDK 1.6 Beta2 resulted in silent incompatibilities. Though items are committed into the database, 0000000.jdb never grow more than 2KB in size (we have about 1000 records, usually taking up to 450KB in size). Closing the environment causes exceptions. Has anyone tested with JDK 6 yet?

    We know of one Java 1.6 Beta issue resulting from a change in TreeSet, but it didn't cause the sort of problem you describe. We heard the following report from several users a few months ago about a new, transient exception seen from the log cleaner when running against 1.6. Although we added a simple check for nullness to JE to avoid the problem, I believe the TreeSet behavior was backed out of Java 1.6.
    We haven't done extensive testing with Java 1.6, but we did run some tests sometime in the spring, and didn't notice any issues then. We know that some folks are at least trying 1.6 -- hopefully they can speak of their experience?
    Here's the TreeSet issue as reported to us, and which we fixed in our current code line ...
    In JDK1.6, the behavior of TreeSet changed slightly. Calling
    TreeSet.remove(null) now throws a NullPointerException. When running
    BDB-JE 3.0.12 and JDK 1.6 build 90, the cleaner logs these errors:
    <Cleaner name="Cleaner-1"/> caught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException java.lang.NullPointerException

    Is there the possibility that your application is hiding some exceptions? You say you see exceptions at Environment.close() time -- what are they? You may want to try the com.sleepycat.je.util.DbPrintLog utility (on a small log file) to see if there are any exception messages stored at the end of the log.

  • XSLT with java extensions not working with jdk 1.6

    Hi,
    in as XSL transformation I'm using java functions in some cases. With jdk1.5 this works fine. But when switching to jdk1.6 it seems the java classes are not properly initialized.
    See following simple XSL:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:java="http://xml.apache.org/xalan/java" exclude-result-prefixes="java">
         <xsl:output method="html" indent="yes" encoding="iso-8859-1"/>
         <xsl:template match="/">
         <xsl:variable name="counter" select="java:java.util.Vector.new()"/>
         <xsl:variable name="temp1" select="java:add($counter,'1')"/>
         <xsl:variable name="temp2" select="java:add($counter,'2')"/>
         <xsl:variable name="temp3" select="java:add($counter,'3')"/>
         <xsl:value-of select="java:size($counter)"/>
         <xsl:value-of select="java:toString($counter)"/>
         </xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>
    With jdk 1.5 it creates following output:
    3
    [1, 2, 3]
    With jdk 1.6 I get:
    0
    So I can access the object in jdk 1.6 but adding doesn't work.
    Anybody has an idea what could be wrong or how to fix this?

    thanx this is the solution. With this construct
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:java="http://xml.apache.org/xalan/java" exclude-result-prefixes="java">
         <xsl:output method="html" indent="yes" encoding="iso-8859-1"/>
         <xsl:template match="/">
         <xsl:variable name="counter" select="java:java.util.Vector.new()"/>
         <xsl:variable name="temp1" select="java:add($counter,'1')"/>
         <xsl:variable name="temp2" select="java:add($counter,'2')"/>
         <xsl:variable name="temp3" select="java:add($counter,'3')"/>
         <xsl:variable name="temp4" select="$temp3"/>
         <xsl:value-of select="java:size($counter)"/>
         <xsl:value-of select="java:toString($counter)"/>
         </xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>
    at least the '3' is added to the vector.

  • Java update (removal) issue with ETRADE.

    After the most recent Java software update that removed Java I am having and issue with my ETRADE Marketcaster real time quotes. After the update I opened Marketcaster and was prompted to download Java from Sun. When I run Marketcaster now it's very very slow and the real-time updates are far from real time. In the past when I opened Marketcaster it would load all 75 stocks that I track instantly. After the update it loads them line by line and takes about 1 minute to fully list all 75. Also when I try to change any font sizes or rearrange columns the caster goes crazy and starts showing multiple versions overlapping each other.
    Thanks

    In addition:
    Java has nothing to do with using the 360 view. You don't even need Java installed. Using 360 takes a bit to get use to and setting up, but it works very well. I double tap on the window bar to zoon the window to the full screen width also so I can see it better.
    For your java issue, I'm not sure that Java 6 works with the latest security update. I haven't tried to reinstall it myself.
    Follow macjack's instructions to install the old plugin back. You will also need to check the Utilities folder to see that Java 6 SE is there and enabled. If it isn't, you can restore it from a TM backup and check the settings to make sure it is enabled.
    When doing the above, close browsers first.

  • Core dump issue

    Hi
    I have a coredump file which was created on our production box. I am debugging that on my development machine.
    When i try the command
    dbx gwbgas dncore i am getting the output as given
    Reading gwbgas
    core file header read successfully
    Reading ld.so.1
    dbx: warning: Dbx could not initialize rtld_db
    Make sure this is the same version of Solaris where the core dump originated.
    Use `help core mismatch' for more info.

    This stack trace is not that meaningfull to me. Please help me to debug this further

    Since this is a mismatched core file, below is a snippet from Sun's "Debugging a program with dbx" document. Hope this helps.
    1. The shared libraries used by the program on the core-host may not be the same
    libraries as those on the dbx-host. To get proper stack traces involving the
    libraries, you’ll want to make these original libraries available on the dbx-host.
    2. dbx uses system libraries in /usr/lib to help understand the implementation
    details of the run time linker and threads library on the system. It may also be
    necessary to provide these system libraries from the core-host so that dbx can
    understand the runtime linker data structures and the threads data structures.

  • Java Core Dump Debug

    Hi,
    One of my Java Processes on Solaris Core Dumped due to SIGNAL 11 (SIGENV) and SIGNAL 10 (SIGBUS). SIgnal 11 is caused due to a Segmentation fault and Signal 10 is caused due to a 'Bus error' (hardware error).
    I would like to know, which is the best debugger to debug this core dump (java) and know the root cause. I tried 'gdb' but I am not sure if 'gdb' works for java. I would like to get a neat stack trace of the error.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    @brain0
    I've downloaded the glic-2.3.6 sources from gnu, so I could build it from those. I'm however reluctant to do this because I really don't want to break my install.
    I do agree with you on the NPTL statement, but pvs relies on allegro, which relies on LinuxThreads. Allegro is not being ported to new versions of glibc, so that approach is unfortunately not viable.
    @iphitus
    I wasn't very specific - it's allegro as in a lisp environment.
    I think I'll try and install an old version of arch on wmware instead. Is there anywhere you can check out glibc version numbering on old arch install isos (ie. do I need arch-0.[1-9].iso)? And anywhere you can download the old isos (tried filewatcher, but a lot of the older sites seem broken)?
    Thanks for the replies,
    Mads
    PS. I noticed that you recommended slackware for old kernels in another thread. I'm however in a bit different situation as I need old versions of glibc. Furthermore I would prefer sticking to arch, but was wondering whether there were any specific reasons for not doing that.

  • Java 6 Compiler issue with Windows 7

    Hi,
    Sorry for the newbie question. I am very new to Java and am currently reading Sams Teach Yourself Java 6 and am having a problem with the JDK 6 compiler. I wrote the beginner program "Hello Username" to test if the compiler is working and am getting the following configuration error when i go to compile it. 'javac' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. I added the path C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_01\bin to the PATH system variable as the book suggested but it did not change anything. What am I missing? The book was published in 2007 and does not include Windows 7. How can I fix this and get it running?
    Thanks for any help you can offer.
    Casey

    At first you have to sucessfully run the command
    java -versionin a DOS console. if the output is something like
    java version "1.6.0_15"
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_15-b03)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 14.1-b02, mixed mode, sharing)your problem is gone.
    Type in this console th command
    pathand there you have to find your path setting
    ...;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_01\bin;...In general you will have a environment setting JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_01 and the path has a
    ...;%JAVA_HOME%\bin;...
