Java error SQL adapter in Wireless

I've used the SQL adapter in the previous releases of wireless without any problem. Most of the time I would use it for all the wireless PLSQL applications in the Oracle database and it works very OK.
I have also used it to connect with a SQLserver database to try out some queries. In this case I would use the standard JDBC/ODBC bridge driver from SUN.
In release 2.0 I can't connect with this SQL Server database anymore.
I've added a system DSN to the ODBC configuration of the Windows 2000 server. This will give access to the internal SQL server database via TCP. A password username is required.
When I try to add a SQLservice in the service designer using the SQL adapter I will use the following parameters:
JDBC connect string: JDBC:ODBC:<DSNNAME>
JDBC driver: sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver
un: <username>
pw: password>
Query (without ';'): select count(*) from <tablename>
Minimum number of Database connections in the pool 5
Maximum number of Database connections in the pool 100
Increment size for the connection pool 1
Idle Timeout (in minutes) 30
Now I get the following error:
2/8/03 2:27:59 PM ERROR : [ApplicationServerThread] webtool.common.PtgErrorLog.outputError(PtgErrorLog.java:28)

java.lang.ClassCastException
Thrown to indicate that the code has attempted to cast an object to a subclass of which it is not an instance. For example, the following code generates a ClassCastException:
Object x = new Integer(0);
System.out.println((String)x);
Is it just a data formatting problem or has it something to do with the JDBC/ODBC driver version of the JDK from the appliction server release 2.0.
I remember that I was always able to connect with the SQL server database with previous releases also with a count query. I've also used JDK 1.3.1 with o9iAS release 1.0.2.1.
Any suggestions for solution?
Thanks in advance for your help.

The old deprecated SQL Adapter (consider switching to the new WCF-SQL!), does not hold any option for disabling DTC when communicating with a remote SQL Server. Not that it is ever a good idea to disable transactions when using BizTalk Adapters, BizTalk
is only a reliable engine as long as all the protocols behave in a transnational manner.
I have experienced DTC problems where DTCTester.exe said everything was fine, but DTCPing.exe still reported a problem. Can you run the DTCPing test both ways (BizTalk -> SQL and vice versa).

  • SQL Developer 3.2 crashes with java error when using OCI/Thick Driver

    I just installed SQL Developer 3.2 on my linux desktop. SQL Developer crashes with a java error when I select a database from the object tree.

    I also had the problem of SQL Developer crashing when using OCI/Thick driver but I've managed to solve it. My configuration is:
    - Windows 64-bit
    - Java 64-bit (1.6.0.34)
    - SQL Developer 3.2.09 64-bit
    - OCI Instant client 11.2.0.3 64-bit (without installation).
    The thing that solved the problem was copying two files, ojdbc5.jar and ojdbc6.jar, from Instant client installation folder to JAVA_HOME/lib/ext folder+.
    After that, I haven't had a single crash or error message.
    The same trick that solved the problem on 64-bit installation also solved the problem on another windows computer with 32-bit SQL Developer installation.

  • SQL Developer: Failure -Test failed: IO Error: Network Adapter No Conn

    SQL Developer: Failure -Test failed: IO Error: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection
    Hi,
    and sorry this is a really common questions and yes I did do a search, but I don't understand it.
    First let me just tell you that Oracle 11g is installed on my second laptop on the same Network.
    Secondly I can connect to the Database using Oracle SQL Developer on the laptop Oracle 11g is installed on.
    The problem is I want to connect to the database on my main Laptop.
    I put in the correct details Hostname 192.168.0.8 ( this is the laptop oracle is installed and running on)
    Port 1521
    SID dbarudu
    ****** YES I HAVE PORT FORWARDED
    ****** YES I HAVE ALLOWED 1521 on the FIREWALL
    ****** YES I HAVE EVEN SWITCHED OFF THE FIREWALL
    Now one more thing you should know ... I don't know nothing about Oracle Servers ok.... so I have just installed Oracle 11g Enterprise and thought done it should be working now.
    I just need to use oracle db for a project.
    So keep in mind I am a total noob and terms like TNSPING etc mean absolutely nothing to me.
    So please help, but help with step by step guide on how to get Oracle to let me have access from another computer.

    If the Listener is working, then you should not get the error SQL-Developer error you are reporting.
    The listener typically runs using the hostname and port 1521. This means it opens tcp port 1521 on all IP addresses of that platform.
    The database server by default will register itself with the local listener. Thus the listener will know the database SID, the database services, whether there are dispatchers to support shared server connections and so on.
    The client side needs simply to specify 3 pieces of data to connect:
    - the IP of the database server
    - the tcp port of the listener
    - a database identifier (such as Oracle SID or service name) to connect to
    It is really that simple.
    If this does not work, the problem falls into 2 broad categories:
    a) incorrect installation and configuration of the Oracle software (the out-of-the-box install works unless messed up)
    b) some kind of networking issue
    To troubleshoot any problem means reducing the complexity of the problem, eliminating multiple moving parts and focusing on specific ones, in order to isolate the problem.
    For your problem, this will go something as follows:
    - does the listener run? (check if the service is running and whether tcp connections are accepted on the listener port - telnet can be used for the latter)
    - does the database successfully registers itself with the listener? (check the services command of the listener and relevant db initialisation parameters)
    - does a local TNS (tcp network) connection work on that server? (use SQL*Plus and test on that platform client-server connectivity via tcp to the listener)
    - does the client platform have connectivity with the server platform? (use ICMP and telnet to test)
    - repeat the TNS test on the client platform using the same working TNS tested on the server platform
    Do not use JDBC to test the connection - keep it simple and use sqlplus and the standard Oracle Call Interface (OCI). A full client version of the OCI plus sqlplus can be downloaded under the Oracle InstantClient downloads.
    Finally - if you expect to simply install and use Oracle, then use the correct version. Oracle Express Edition aka Oracle XE. Installs and works out-of-the-box. The only manual config change to make is (as far as I recall) to run the listener on all IP addresses of that platform. And this required editing the listener.ora file, changing the HOST parameter and restarting the listener.
    Also keep in mind that you have not presented an Oracle error code and Oracle error message. But a client application error message. And that message is pretty much meaningless - it does not point to a specific Oracle networking or Oracle server problem. To diagnose that, we expect a TNS or ORA error number.

  • ERROR: Inconsistent java and sql object types

    I am getting a nested object table in the form of an oracle.sql.ARRAY. I then call getResultSet() on this array and try to cast each object into a Java implementation of the SQLData interface (also defined in the connections type map).
    This approach works for one nested object table but not for another. I get the error message:
    "Inconsistent java and sql object types"
    Does this mean that my Java to Oracle type mappings are wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

    i had a similar situation. found out it was occuring because the oracle type had not been granted to the appropriate user.

  • Portal V2 - java error when registering provider

    Hi,
    (system setup is as follows)
    0. DOWNLOADED Portal V2 (OS = Windows 2000 Professional)
    1. Installed IAS-infrastructure) in directory c:\oracle\ias
    2. Installed IAS-midtier (portal & wireless) in directory c:\oracle\portal
    3. Tried to install PDK from the downloaded file and into the same directory as IAS-infrastructure (as per the installation guide) but was forced to provide a new directory. Installed successfully in c:\oracle\pdk (NOTE: All services for instances ias, portal and pdk were started using Oracle Enterprise Manager Website; the OC4J processes were up and running)
    The problem occurs when trying to register a new provider as indicated in:
    http://portalstudio.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/PDP/LIFECYCLE/TOC/LIFECYCLE.HTM (Installation). A Java error is displayed immediately after granting access and pressing "FINISH"

    Is something wrong with my installation?
    Should I de-install the PDK installed from the Portal V2 Distribution and re-install it with a standalone PDK download and hand configuration of the parameter files?

    Sorry, false alarm - it works OK now.
    The mistake was that while registering the new sample provider, I had entered the name of the new provider in "Service ID", instead of using one of the providers that were available - eg "sample"
    It worked OK when I used "sample"

    Now problem is while execute RC, it gives no error but the remote file does not get zipped. When I run report_compress.sh from command promt, it works fine.
    Earlier we used HP-UX as our DB server and Application Server. And RC worked fine there. Recently we have moved to AIX(for both DB and AS), and now we are facing this problem.
    Please guide me to resolve this problem.
    Note: .rhosts entry is fine in both the servers(as per me) as report_compress.sh is working fine.

    Make sure that the .profile does not read something from tty - it should not, but it sounds like the .profile is expecting tty input.
    Alternatively, simply copy and paste the environment settings from .profile to your compress script. The only read important setting is PATH as your script simply does a remote shell. Thus LD_LIBRARY_PATH/SHLIB_PATH and other settings are not needed.
    You can also add debugging to your shell script - useful when executing it in the background.
    Something as follows:
    # create debug file name
    DEBUGFILE=/tmp/~$$.debug-out # e.g. /tmp/~1234.debug-out where 1234 is the PID
    echo "`date` Starting [$0] with parameters [$*]" >> $DEBUGFILE
    # sourcing environment
    echo "Loading default profile..." >>$DEBUGFILE
    . /home/oracle/.profile 1>>$DEBUGFILE 2>>$DEBUGFILE
    # running remote shell
    echo "Running remote shell..." >>$DEBUGFILE
    remsh ... 1>>$DEBUGFILE 2>>$DEBUGFILE
    .. etc.
    When this is working, you can remove the debug file from the shell script, or simply delete it when the script is successful.

  • Graphic Mapping:IDOC to File-Avoid Error in Adapter Engine

    Hi all,
    I'm using Graphic Mapping in my IDOC to File scenario in which each segment in source IDOC will generate a ROW in target File with the condition: DATBI >= currentdate (and some other conditions)
    I have a UDF and use the mapping function CREATEIF for this purpose:
                                 DATBI -> UDF -> CREATEIF -> ROW
    Problem scenario: In the source IDOC if all the segments have DATBI < currentdate then there is no ROW created, and I get the error in Adapter Engine
    Exception in XML Parser (format problem?):'java.lang.Exception: Message processing failed in XML parser: 'Conversion configuration error: Unknown structure ...
    How can I avoid this?
    I've tried to put this condition using XPATH in Interface Determination and got the error.
    There is a way to use function current-date() in XPATH condition?
    Thanks for your help,
    Elaine

    Hi all,
    How can I "suppress the row node if condition fails"? I'm new in PI, so please give more details.
    My FCC as follows:
    Record Structure: Record, Row
    Row.addHeaderLine 0
    Row.fieldSeparator ,
    Record.fieldSeparator 'nl'
    Row.endSeparator ; 'nl'
    It works fine if the condition satisfied.
    In Message Mapping, I've use Test to double check my mapping, and in the scenario that conditions fails, there is no Row in the target message.
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Elaine

  • How do you configure a WCF-SQL adapter to write data from a SQL2012 "always on" database?

    Hi All,
    I have a BizTalk environment. I have to write the data from BizTalk to the database which is configured using ALWAYS ON availability group.
    I use WCF-SQL adapter to write the data. My question is this setup a supported?

    The answer is NO.
    Refer: Can
    I use a BizTalk WCF-SQL send adapter with a SQL 2012 Always on Database?
    A snippet quoted below.
    In summary (in order of preference):
    Disable AlwaysOn Availability Groups / Mirroring on SQL server if you need to connect to this SQL server which has this enabled
    Disable transactions and implement logic to be able to handle duplicates .
    Disable transactions and handle the duplicates or lost messages with custom logic (e.g. Send twice and compare and implement error handling). You need to write your own DTC handling this which
    is probably very complicated.
    Disable transactions and live with risk of duplicates or lost messages without handling duplicates.
    Refer: SQL Server AlwaysOn feature does not support MSDTC transactions.

  • Message split on adapter engine for the java based IDoc adapter

    Hi Guys,
    Do you know if message split on adapter engine is available for the java based IDoc adapter on the single stack (PI 7.31)?
    I'm getting such exception when I try to post 3 IDocs
    Transmitting the message to endpoint <local> using connection File_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.aii.af.idoc.exception.IDOCAdapterException: Error before sending due to idoc parsing error: (7) IDOC_ERROR_PARSE_FAILURE: Invalid XML 1.0 character encountered within IDocXML for type <ns0:Messages>:

    sourceSnippet=...UTF-8" standalone="no"?><ns0:Messages xmlns:ns0="http://sap.com/xi/XI/SplitAndMerge"><ns0:Message1><...

    Mapping is one to many.
    Each IDoc content has been compared manually against the xsd schema and it was fine.
    I know that old way of modifying xsd is still possible.

    Did you find a solution to this? Having a similar error right now.
    Thanks and kind regards

  • Error in adapter module Upgrade PI7.11

    Hello,
    After upgrade from XI3.0 to PI7.11,I am trying to adapt code of an adapter module in order to use it in new version.
    I have changed the code ,there were no compilation errors and it was deployed successfully.
    But when trying to test the scenario ,I am getting following error:
    <code>ADAPTER.JAVA_EXCEPTION</code>
                   <text>javax.ejb.EJBException: (Failed in component: sap.com/ValidationModule7.11_EAR) Exception raised from invocation of public com.sap.aii.af.lib.mp.module.ModuleData com.sapcons.xi.af.validation.ValidationModuleBean711.process(com.sap.aii.af.lib.mp.module.ModuleContext,com.sap.aii.af.lib.mp.module.ModuleData) throws com.sap.aii.af.lib.mp.module.ModuleException method on bean instance com.sapcons.xi.af.validation.ValidationModuleBean711@4dee79d1 for bean sap.com/ValidationModule7.11_EARxml|ValidationModule7.11_EJB.jarxml|ValidationModuleBean711 in application sap.com/ValidationModule7.11_EAR.; nested exception is: java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.MessageKey.getMessageId() of an object loaded from local variable 'msgKey'
    java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.MessageKey.getMessageId() of an object loaded from local variable 'msgKey'
    I am nowhere using variable 'msgkey' in my code.
    I was using getMessageId() method and because of this error,I have changed the code such that I am not using this method at all.
    After this change ,I have deployed the module again,and the strange part is I am still getting the same error.
    Just to be sure that I have deployed the changed code,I created an altogether new module ValidationModule7.11_EAR(it was ValidationModule_EAR before) and deployed it,I am sure ,I am not using getMessageId() method at all,but I am getting the same error (as mentioned above).
    I have no idea why I am getting the same error.I can see in the error message that my new module is called which doesn't use this method.
    Can anyone please suggest apart from saving the Bean after code changes and redeploying the code,what needs to be done.
    (Rebuilding the project,etc.)
    It would be great if I can get some inputs on this strange behaviour.
    Thanks a lot.
    Best Regards,
    Shweta

    Hello Stefan,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I have created my new module with a different JNDI name.
    Also,I have verified that there is a link to the interface com.sap.aii.af.ifc.facade in application-j2ee-engine.xml .
    This was the code which I was trying to adapt:
    if((MessageContext)inputModuleData.getPrincipalData() instanceof MessageContext)
                    MessageContext messsageContext = (MessageContext)inputModuleData.getPrincipalData();
                    Message message = messsageContext.getMessage();
                    Attachment rootDocument = message.getRootDocument();
                    Object data = rootDocument.getData();
                    if(data instanceof Binary)
                        Binary bin = (Binary)data;
                        request = bin.getBytes();
                        String messageID = "1232";
                        if(dir == Direction.INBOUND)
                            amk = new AuditMessageKey(messageID, AuditDirection.INBOUND);
                        else
                            amk = new AuditMessageKey(messageID, AuditDirection.OUTBOUND);
    But I was getting errors like MessageContext not recognized and also,for the statement:
    Attachment rootDocument = message.getRootDocument();
    I was getting an error in statement :   if(data instanceof Binary) as following imports weren't recognized.
    import com.sap.aii.messaging.lang.Binary;
    import com.sap.aii.messaging.mo.*;
    So I used import com.sap.aii.af.service.cpa.BinaryData; and following code
    Object obj = null;
                   Message message = null;
                   obj = inputModuleData.getPrincipalData();
                              if(obj instanceof BinaryData)
                         message = (Message)obj;
                        BinaryData bin = (BinaryData)obj;
                        request = bin.getData();
                         String messageID = "1232";
                          amk = new MessageKey(messageID, message.getMessageDirection());
    Code was compiled correctly and deployed ,but I get this error with getMessageId() when I try to test it.You can see I am not using getMessageId() and msgkey anywhere in the code
    Thanks for your help

    1) Do you have the same Credentials settings for all 3 Receive Locations (Found under Configure | Other | Credentials on you WCF-SQL Adapter)
    2) Are all 3 Receive Locations Locations polling from the same SQL Server? If not are they then on the same domain? If the server that is failing is not on the same domain as your BizTalk Host User, then you might need to supply credentials and use a local
    SQL User.
