Java.lang.Character... is in KVM?

Hi all,
java.lang.Character ... is giving a problem it complies but doesn't run..
private String decodeKey(int keyCode){
//Method Variables
final char ch = (char)keyCode;
// Characters
if(new java.lang.Character(ch).isLetterOrDigit(ch))
return new java.lang.Character(ch).toString();
Error:
ALERT: No such method isLetterOrDigit.(C)Z
Regards,
Neo

Hi Neo,
KVM API doesn't include isLetterOrDigit(ch) method in java.lang.Character.
If you compile sources with '-bootclasspath KVM_API_CLASSES' instead of -classpath ... you'll get error at compile time.

  • Questioning design decision in java.lang.Character

    Having a look at the source code for java.lang.Character, I have the Character class explicitly extends Object
    I am using jre1.6.0_07 on window XP
    Now the question is what is the reason for such a decision and we all know that any class implicitly extends Object class.
    public final class Character extends Object implements java.io.Serializable, Comparable<Character> {
    }Regards,

    I cannot answer with anything but personal intuition, and give non-conclusive details:
    first this is not a design decision, merely a style decision, since, as you mention, any class implicitly extends directly java.lang.Object if not explicitly extending anything else (and at the bytecode level, the source-level difference is undetectable).
    As far as style is concerned, I would have assumed that the whole JDK team is required to strictly follow consistent rules, but different classes suggest otherwise.
    Sun's public [Code Conventions for the JavaTM Programming Language|http://java.sun.com/docs/codeconv/html/CodeConventions.doc5.html#2991] do not have an explicit rule about this; section +6.4 Class and Interface Declarations+ provide an example with an extends Object clause, but the rule is not explicit in the text; and the previous section 5.2 does provide an example without this clause...
    I went on speculating that the developpers for the Character class had a special intent in mind, as they override Object methods equals() and hascode(), but other class in the same package do the same without the explicit extends Object clause (Void, System, Number). At that step I gave up trying to find a reason other than the developers' own style...

    Is anyone encountered the following? is it an encodiong problem (java.lang.CharacterDataLatin1 etc.)? thanks, david.

  • Cannot convert ÿØÿà of type class java.lang.String to class BFileDomain.

    Hi All,
    I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.2.3.0.
    I have a scenario of making an ADF page where I have a IMAGE field to show on the page. So,I have a table called "PRODUCT" with fields called photo with BFILE type. Now when I the data i have inserted using the DML command and i can see the path at the backend.
    However,when i am runnig my ADF page in the Filed called "PHOTO" I can only see a junk character stating 'yoyo'.
    When I click on it, it says ERROR "Cannot convert ÿØÿà of type class java.lang.String to class oracle.jbo.domain.BFileDomain".
    Your help will be appreciated ASAP.
    Regards,
    Shahnawaz

    Hi,
    did you show the id-value in the user interface as a input-component, and did the input-component include a converter?
    If yes, show the id as output-text and remove any existing converter-components.
    Best Regards

    Line 16 column 20 is the character after the </servlet-mapping> tag. Why is it doing this? I've recreated web.xml a couple of times from scratch, thinking that it might be some weird character in the file that is not visible. I've also set the encoding to UTF-8, but it just keeps on failing when it gets to the first closing servlet-mapping tag. Am I missing something or is this some weird bug?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hmmm....I don't see anything wrong with the web.xml file. Perhaps Tomcat can't find your, "HelloWorld" class?
    1. Did you set the classpath correctly?
    2. Did you declare the name of the class correctly in the web.xml file's servlet-class element (i.e. full package naming)?

  • File Module Generation: Error: java.lang.NullPointerException in RWB.

    Hello XI Xpert's,
    I am following below SDN blog to generate file module...
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/da5675d1-0301-0010-9584-f6cb18c04805
    I have done all steps as mentioned using NWDS. We have sucessfully deployed same on J2EE engine using SDM. SDM logs shows that it is sucessfully deployed.
    I have configured Sender File adapter to call my customised module.( Called before standard file module).
    But when I checked in RWB, its gives me error :
    Sender Adapter v2703 for Party '', Service 'BS_DEV_XI_401_NA':

    If I do not put any file in respective folder status of Sender Communication channel shows as green...as soon as put any file in folder its getting red with above mention error.
    I have gone thru almost all SDN blogs/thread ..I also tried to debug code as mentioned in thread..Error in Module Processing- java.lang.NullPointerException
    But unfortunately it never goes to that point...hence never updates Log.
    In audit log I am getting same message..

    2007-08-27 12:42:52 Error Attempt to process file failed with java.lang.NullPointerException
    But could not find my Custom Message... There is any way by which I can check if its calling my Custom Module itself?
    There is any setting / parameters which we need to do on J2EE engine in order to activate call to custome module?
    Any help would be really appreciated.
    Nilesh

    It is strange, but in that document of yours it never says anything about the JNDI name in the ejb-j2ee-engine.xml file.
    Check this doc here:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/3bdc14e1-0901-0010-b5a9-a01e29d75a6a
    According to it, if you properly configure the ejb-j2ee-engine.xml file, then you'd call your module using "localejbs/<JNDIName>".
    Regards,
    Henrique.

  • On starting WebLogic getting Error : Listening for transport dt_socket at address: 8453 Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: vXmx512m

    Hi,
    system i am using for Oracle SOA is :
    Windows 64 Bit
    i5 Processor
    6 GB RAM
    29 GB on C Drive is already free after installation of all SOA related products.
    I have installed wlserver_10.3 for SOA 11g Development purpose and followed exact installation sequence and procedure as mention in oracle documentation
    i created domain also and every thing look correct but after installation procedure there are "Additional actions required just after every thing installed" :
    setting memory limit
    starting weblogic server (Admin Server)
    starting weblogic managed server
    and so on
    now Problem is when i execute C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\soa_div_domain\bin startWebLogic.cmd
    as mention in oracle documentation i am getting following error message : (i have only included last error lines instead of complete console log)
    oConsole= -Dweblogic.ext.dirs=C:\Oracle\MIDDLE~1\patch_wls1036\profiles\default\
    sysext_manifest_classpath;C:\Oracle\MIDDLE~1\patch_oepe180\profiles\default\syse

    Could not find the main class: ++Xmx512m.  Program will exit.
    Now to resolve this what i already tried are :
    I change JAVA_HOME and PATH to jdk6 which came with web logic installer
    Location is at :
    JAVA_HOME : C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_29
    PATH : C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_29\bin
    The above dose not include any space between path
    I ran the startWebLogic.cmd and got same error
    After that I also added
    CLASSPATH : C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_29\lib\tool.jar;C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\lib\weblogic.jar;C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_29\bin
    WL_HOME:  C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3
    I ran the startWebLogic.cmd and got same error
    I also used earlier path which I used with eclipse when I was working on other java development.
    JAVA_HOME : C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_21
    PATH : C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_21\bin
    I ran the startWebLogic.cmd and got same error
    Then I also gave PATH: C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\lib      (including the existing one using ; )
    I ran the startWebLogic.cmd and got same error
    Now may be there is a file called setSOADomainEnv.cmd in
    < C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\soa_div_domain\bin\ setSOADomainEnv.cmd>
    That include some values for memory set :
    set JAVA_OPTIONS=%JAVA_OPTIONS%
    set DEFAULT_MEM_ARGS=-Xms512m –Xmx512m
    set PORT_MEM_ARGS=-Xms512m –Xmx768m
    if "%JAVA_VENDOR%" == "Oracle" goto OracleJVM
    set DEFAULT_MEM_ARGS=%DEFAULT_MEM_ARGS% -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=768m
    set PORT_MEM_ARGS=%PORT_MEM_ARGS% -XX:PermSize=256m -XX:MaxPermSize=768m
    now as I change the red highlighted value to 512 value because I have less memory resource and I checked in installation documentation to change the above red highlighted value to 512 original is 1024 which is too high and it was crating problem and showing memory space problem so I change it to 512 and now I am not getting that memory space problem error but may be the above error is related with change value in setSOADomainEnv.cmd file or not
    Following are my domain, weblogic and soa home directory path and all these path are exactly what it suppose to be according to Oracle Installation Documentation:
    WebLogic :
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\coherence_3.7
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\oepe_11.1.1.8.0
    SOA Oracle Home Directory :
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_SOA1
    OSB Home Location :
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_OSB1
    Domain name : soa_div_domain
    Domain Location :       C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains
    Application Location :  C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\applications
    Domain Location:        C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\soa_div_domain
    form here i am trying to start weblogic : C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\soa_div_domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd
    Please tell me any body want more details.
    Thanks.

    I think you are missing a character '-'
    USER_MEM_ARGS="Xms512m -Xmx512m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m"Add this character like follows
    "-Xms512m -Xmx512m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m"

    Why the error? Because you invoke the constructor String(String s), with s null. The constructor would produce a new String with the same character sequence as s, but if s is null, it cannot do this, so it throws NullPointerException. What else could it do? Without throwing an exception, a constructor has to create a new object, but there is no raw material, so to speak, for the creation. Think what would/could you do if you had to write such a 'copy constructor' for your own class and you would be passed null.
    Now, the String copy constructor is probably useless, as the javadoc hints. When you have a String already, you don't need to create an identical one, as the original will:
    - Not be garbage collected, if you keep a reference to it
    - Never be modified, as strings are immutable
    You are right that the code you show would 'copy the reference of nom to this.nom' and this is ok. It's exactly what you need, for the reasons above.

    Hi,
    The problem was resolved by setting proper acl's to the corresponding directories (cache directory) in the application server

  • OCI, java.lang.ArithmeticException: / by zero

    Hi,
    Could someone help me with this?
    I'm using OCI driver, because database character set is user-defined.
    There is no problem with connection, but if I open any database objects list or execute any statement I've got this exception:
    Oracle SQL Developer 1.5.5:
    java.lang.ArithmeticException: / by zero
         at oracle.jdbc.driver.OraclePreparedStatement.<init>(OraclePreparedStatement.java:1245)
         at oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleCallableStatement.<init>(OracleCallableStatement.java:100)
         at oracle.jdbc.driver.T2CCallableStatement.<init>(T2CCallableStatement.java:103)
         at oracle.jdbc.driver.T2CDriverExtension.allocateCallableStatement(T2CDriverExtension.java:96)
         at oracle.jdbc.driver.PhysicalConnection.prepareCall(PhysicalConnection.java:3430)
         at oracle.jdbc.driver.PhysicalConnection.prepareCall(PhysicalConnection.java:3377)

         at oracle.dbtools.raptor.InitializeConnectionListener.initConnection(InitializeConnectionListener.java:137)
         at oracle.dbtools.raptor.InitializeConnectionListener$1.run(InitializeConnectionListener.java:85)
    Oracle SQL Developer 2.1.1.64:
    Level Sequence Elapsed Message
    SEVERE     99     2448498          / by zero
    I dig into JVM using VisualVM and find out that oracle.jdbc.driver.T2CConnection.conversion (DBConversion.java) has property sMaxCharSize=0.
    When I'm connecting to other DB (wihtout user defined charset) this property has value 1 and everything is ok.
    Other DB tools like Squirell SQL, PL/SQL Developer works fine so maybe there is a bug in Oracle SQL Developer?.

    This seems more like a bug in the JDBC driver than in SQL Developer itself.
    Try replacing the JDBC driver in SQLDEVELOPER_INSTALL_DIR\jdbc\lib with the very latest version from OTN.
    You may also want to try upgrading your OCI client to latest and if you still got the problem then better raise a SR on Metalink/MOS if you have a DB support contract.

    I fixed the funfunction like so:cti
    public int getFrequencyPos(int k)
              //char letter=(char)(k+97-1);
              //return frequentLetters.indexOf(letter);
              int countOfK=letterCount[k];
              Arrays.sort(letterCount);
              for(int i=0;i<letterCount.length;i++)
                   if(countOfK==letterCount)
                        return i;
              return 0;

  • Attempt to process file failed with java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsExcep..

    Hello All,
       I am implementing file2file with file going from shared folder to FTPS server.
    I am using TLS and X.509 certificate in file receiver communication channel.
    when I implemented my scenario, this is the error its throwing :
    Success : Connect to FTP server "my ftp address", directory "/TEST/"
    Error : Attempt to process file failed with java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: 3
    I know this error is caused when java expects the 3 character length string and if its getting more than that... Does any faced this kindaa problem before...Any help is greatly appreciated....Obviously even points....
    Thanks,
    Ravi

    There is no custom code at all? No mappings, no custom modules, no pre/post processing commands?
    Also, check if you get this error when sending to ftps server without certificate (or with another certificate). It may be an incompatibility issue with certificate.
    Did you import the .pfx (or .p12) file in KeyStorage Service?
    Regards,
    Henrique.

    USER_MEM_ARGS="Xms512m -Xmx512m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m"
    export USER_MEM_ARGS

    USER_MEM_ARGS="Xms512m -Xmx512m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m"Add this character like follows
    "-Xms512m -Xmx512m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m"
