Java on button

I have a process that set a specific date against a person when a button is pressed.
I have been trying to insert javascript on the button so a confirmation box with yes or no appears.
I have this working but when yes is pressed the procedure (set_date) that updates the date against the person does not run eventhough I get the actioned processed message. This is the java script.
In the header
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
function setdate(msg)
var confdate = msg;
if(confdate ==null)
confdate= confirm("Would you like to set the date?");
else
confdate= confirm(msg);
if (confdate== true)
doSubmit('set_date');
</script>
and on the button
Target is a URL
URL Target
javascript:setban('Would you like to set the date?');
Can anyone spot where I have gone wrong please
Gus

Is it safe to assume you really mean javascript:set_date('Would you like to set the date?')
What I would do to try to debug this is to remove the conditions, and just see if the page is being submitted at all. Work backwards from there - if it doesnt update at all after you push the yes, then something is wrong.
Sorry I'm not a javascript expert, but that would be my advice. Start wide and narrow it down.

  • Problem with java swing button and loop

    Problem with java swing button and loop
    Im using VAJ 4.0. and Im doing normal GUI application. I have next problem.
    I have in the same class two jswing buttons named start (ivjGStart) and stop (ivjGStop) and private static int field named Status where initial value is 0. This buttons should work something like this:
    When I click on start button it must do next:
    Start button must set disenabled and Stop button must set enabled and selected. Field status is set to 1, because this is a condition in next procedure in some loop. And then procedure named IzvajajNeprekinjeno() is invoked.
    And when I click on stop button it must do next:
    Start button must set enabled and selected and Stop button must set disenabled.
    Field status is set to 0.
    This works everything fine without loop do .. while inside the procedure IzvajajNeprekinjeno(). But when used this loop the start button all the time stay (like) pressed. And this means that a cant stop my loop.
    There is java code, so you can get better picture:
    /** start button */
    public void gStart_ActionEvents() {
    try {
    ivjGStart.setEnabled(false);
    ivjGStop.setEnabled(true);
    ivjGStop.setSelected(true);
    getJTextPane1().setText("Program is running ...");
    Status = 1;
    } catch (Exception e) {}
    /** stop button */
    public void gStop_ActionEvents() {
    try {
    ivjGStart.setEnabled(true);
    ivjGStart.setSelected(true);
    ivjGStop.setEnabled(false);
    getJTextPane1().setText("Program is NOT running ...");
    Status = 0;
    } catch (Exception e) {
    /** procedure IzvajajNeprekinjeno() */
    public void IzvajajNeprekinjeno() {  //RunLoop
    try {
    int zamik = 2000; //delay
    do {
    Thread.sleep(zamik);
    PreberiDat(); //procedure
    } while (Status == 1);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    So, I'm asking what I have to do, that start button will not all the time stay pressed? Or some other aspect of solving this problem.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Tomi

    This is a multi thread problem. When you start the gui, it is running in one thread. Lets call that GUI_Thread so we know what we are talking about.
    Since java is task-based this will happen if you do like this:
    1. Button "Start" is pressed. Thread running: GUI_Thread
    2. Event gStart_ActionEvents() called. Thread running: GUI_Thread
    3. Method IzvajajNeprekinjeno() called. Thread running: GUI_Thread
    4. Sleep in method IzvajajNeprekinjeno() on thread GUI_Thread
    5. Call PreberiDat(). Thread running: GUI_Thread
    6. Check status. If == 1, go tho 4. Thread running: GUI_Thread.
    Since the method IzvajajNeprekinjeno() (what does that mean?) and the GUI is running in the same thread and the event that the Start button has thrown isn't done yet, the program will go on in the IzvajajNeprekinjeno() method forever and never let you press the Stop-button.
    What you have to do is do put either the GUI in a thread of its own or start a new thread that will do the task of the IzvajajNeprekinjeno() method.

    This tutorial explains how to build a multi threaded gui.

  • Java-style buttons in Oracle Forms 6i

    Hey there,
    Does anyone know how to create buttons with curved edges in Oracle Forms 6i? Something like those Swing components in Java?
    Thanks
    Al

    Alex,
    for Forms on the web you can use PJCs. The Forms 10g demos (http://download.oracle.com/otn/other/general/forms10gdemos9_0_4_2.zip) and the Forms 9i demos have a sample Java class for this. The same solution should work in 6i as well.

  • [SOLVED] XFCE - Java Swing button theme?

    I'm running XFCE, and I notice that all Swing-based Java applications use the ugly Swing button theme. When I used GNOME 3, some of them would adapt to the GNOME button theme (and would look like they belonged on the system).
    Is this issue with XFCE, my current GTK theme (dorian), or Java, and how can I change this?

    Thank you for the information.
    I followed the wiki by adding
    export _JAVA_OPTIONS="-Dswing.defaultlaf=com.sun.java.swing.plaf.gtk.GTKLookAndFeel"
    to my ~/.bashrc file.
    To test, I launched the Minecraft launcher (one of the applications which does support style changes between desktops), and got back this information:
    Picked up _JAVA_OPTIONS: -Dswing.defaultlaf=com.sun.java.swing.plaf.gtk.GTKLookAndFeel
    Error parsing gtk-icon-sizes string: ''
    And it had no effect. Any ideas?

    This:
    else if (arg.equals(" +/- ")) // positive negative button clicked
       display_total = new_value-(new_value*2);should be:
    else if (arg.equals(" +/- ")) // positive negative button clicked
       display_total = -new_value;Much clearer as to what it does (and fewer operations, too).
    Memory Retrieve and Memory Clear don't need an input--that's probably why you are getting the exception--you are probably parsing an empty string.
    As CeciNEstPasUnProgrammeur said, you should print the stack trace.

  • Newbie here. Moderator PhHein closed my discussion, needed help on finding Java 7 button to click on. Started another discusion and this was one of the answers.

    Being new to the site, by accident I put my question about updating something in the wrong spot. I put this question in the topic Community Feedback and Suggestions (Do Not Post Product-Related Questions Here
    I posted my question where I throught the Community could give me feedback and suggestions. I am not an IT person, I did not know that upgrading something would be considered writing about a product. Again, I am not a IT person,
    instead was a graphic designer so I do not think like IT people. The moderator PhHein closed the thread because of my mistake and no one directed me to the right spot. It is frustrating enough not to be able to update something.
    Then I get tossed to the wind by Moderator PhHein.
    I started another discussion and was treated so nice, ha. I got bashed by Billy V's, you can see his comment in the Orange type below.
    I do not understand the rudeness of the moderators and other posters.
    This is my last post and I no longer want help. I won't be updating Java 7. I thought I would get a hello, welcome, and a polite answer. This is not a site that I consider people friendly.
    I did not get any response to my reporting what Billy said as abuse. I guess I just wanted to let some people know.
    Is this a site where people bash instead of giving you help? L

    Perhaps your inability to install Java (finding that shiny install button to click and have fun) is related to your inability to read and comprehend simple instructions? Like NOT posting product questions in this forum space??"

    Tried to see, if this behaviour can be changed with changing the WD UI settings on the portal side(ctrl + secondary mouse  click). but was unable to do so .
    Could this be handle without touching the WD code ?

  • Java script button only works once?

    I am a novice with JavaScript, but Edge Animate seems like it might be a tool that I can work with. I have created pages using symbols with simple in/out slide animations using  JavaScript.  They are triggered on the buttons with the following code:
    sym.stop(4000);
    var current = sym.getVariable("current");
    if (current != "") {
       sym.getSymbol(current).play("out");
    sym.getSymbol("testimPg").play("in");
    sym.setVariable("current", "testimPg");
    The stage action for compositionready is this;
    sym.setVariable("current", "baseAnim");
    every page works fine except my testimonial page (testimPg)
    The animations work fine for all the other buttons but on the testimonial page it only fire correctly once!?
    If you click on other pages and then go back to the testimonial button, it no longer functions properly —the symbol is no longer visible when the testimonial button is clicked!?
    Can anybody figure out why this is happening.
    here is a link to the page:

    Any help would be grateful
    thanks

    Thanks for the reply kglad. I've deleted all the button layers in every scenes and created a button layer from frame 1 until the last frame, but I still got this output here that I don't really understand what it means.

  • Help with getting button color.

    I'm trying to make a little paint program. i want to be able to click on a color button and then assign the color of that button to a variable Color brushColor.
    funny thing is, when i compile this, it tells me that
    C:\java\javaprograms\TryPainting.java:21: getBackground() in java.awt.Component cannot be applied to (java.awt.Button)
              brushColor = paintTheBrush(getBackground(source));
    strange, getBackground is explicitly listed as a method that Button inherits from Component in the API.
    any suggestions on a way to accomplish this?

  • Java programming(import statement)

    My query is that what if i import whole package instead of one class being used in my code.
    eg.
    if i need " java.awt.Button" in my program code
    and my import statement is
    import java.awt.*;
    will it be reduce execution performance of my program?
    or it will reduce only Complie time performance?

    Only the compile time performance. All the import statement does is tells the compiler it can use the classes. Try importing a whole swathe of classes into a small program and see what I mean. The resulting class file doesn't bloat.

  • Executing UNIX command in Java

    I am having problems executing a command in Java. Here's the code I have for executing:
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmd);
                                            BufferedReader input = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream()));
         while((display = input.readLine()) != null)
                             num_1 = Double.parseDouble(display);
                             percent = (num_1 * 100) / (50000000);
                        flip = 1;
                        catch(IOException e)
                        e.printStackTrace();
                        System.exit(1);
    Now, when I run the script, I receive the following errors:
