Java Plugin with Netscape6

After downloading and installing Netscape6, I tried to access a page with an applet. I downloaded the Plugin as directed. I Shut Down the PC, rebooted it, and still Netscape cannot find the Plugin. I have fought this for about a month in different ways. Can anyone tell me what I need to do?
Thanks very much,
Betty

thanks for the tip it worked but I made a copy of the file named NPOJI600.dll from C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3\bin and move it to C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape 6\Netscape 6\plugins it works now
I also had a problem with the adobe plug-in to fix that make a copy of NPPDF32.dll in C:\adobe\acrobat 5.0\reader\browser and paste it to C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape 6\Netscape 6\plugins
thanks again

  • Memory Leak Java Plugin with Swing Applet

    Hi
    I experience the following problem and desperately need help on this. The Java Plugin (I use Version 1.3.1_02) seems to have a problem in printing Swing Applets.
    The problem can easily be reproduced (at least with NT):
    1) Start Internet Explorer or Netscape (I used 5.5/4.07)
    2) Launch the following demo swing applet
    http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/1.3.1_01a/demos/jfc/SwingSet2/SwingSet2Plugin.html
    3) Print the applet and observe (using task manager) the memory used by the browser process (the memory used by the process will increase every time you hit the print button but never decrease unless you shut down the browser)
    4) Print a couple of times (you may want to pause your print queue) and you will be able to crash your computer
    This seems to be the same bug reported with 4638742. However it says "in progress" for quite some time and I was wondering if some genious might know a work around for this.
    Cheers

  • I am using Mandriva Linux now and I have installed Firefox 6 but I could not install Java plugin with it. Can anyone please help me how to install it?

    I am using Mandriva Linux now.
    But I am using Firefox 3.6.8, but I cannot install java plugin in it.
    Can anyone please help me how to install it?

    The plugins folder in the Firefox installation folder doesn't exist by default. There is no default plugin in Firefox 4, so that folder would be empty and in thus not included. If you want to use that location then you need to create a plugins folder.
    Did you try /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins ?

  • Java Plugin With Client Cert Auth and Keepalive

    Hi,
    I have a Java Applet that connects to a site requiring client side certificates. The site is running Apache 2.0.54 with a keepalive timeout of 15 minutes. As a result the applet prompts the user for a client side certificate on its inital connection and does not prompt again unless the user has been idle for more than 15 minutes. My problem is that when we try this through our Squid proxy, the Applet prompts the user on virtually every request, making for a very annoying user experience.
    We have played with both Squid 2.4 and 3.0 and tweaked serveral promising-sounding parameters with no success. Is there something I am missing? I can mail any logs or config files as needed. One clue is that it does seem to work for requests spaced at about 2 seconds or so apart, but not more.
    Thanks for any insights as to what might be happening here.
    Best,
    Seth

    Issue resolved by creating a role with the relevant UME Action permissions. Not entirely sure if this is the best way forward, but it seems to work.
    If anyone has other suggestions, or better ways of doing this, please let me know.

  • Forms Web application is not working on FireFox Browser-with java plugin

    Hi All,
    We are running custom build forms application using forms 10g and application server 10 g Rel 2. We are using Java Plug-in 1.5.0_06. The application is working fine before recent update from firefox .Now it's not working and keep on asking additional plug in required and taking to java.sun.com for installing the plug in. Even after installing when we access the application it will do the same thing. I tried uninstalling the firefox with the older version and with diffrent java plugin versions.. but the problem still there.. any help will be mush appriciated...
    Thanks...

  • I am running 10.5.8, and just updated my java to java 5 update10. Now my firefox is missing the Java plugin, and I can't load any Java applet at all. When I try it with Safari, it hangs when certain Java applet loads. HELP!!!

    Suddenly my Java plugin is missing and i can't load any Java with Firefox at all, even though i have it enabled in the browser! i've tried loading in java embedding plugin, but it doesn't work. what should i do???

    It's not in Tools> Add-ons >plugins?  Should be Java Plug-in 2 for NPAPI browsers 13.5.0. What are you seeing there? I don't think it's called the embedding plugin any longer.
    Might try getting the Firefox 5 standalone application. Trash the current one and replace it. Doing this won't affect your Profile or any settings.
    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    If it's enabled, how can it be missing?
    If this doesn't work, ask here. No need to register. Make sure you put (Mac) in the title.

  • The Java plugin has created a time unfriendly issue with my e-mail account, I can not open or send any e-mail without using this plugin, how can I eliminate this problem without dropping m. firefox?

    A few days ago I tried to e-mail a friend, when I started A box came up and it required me to add a plugin..Java. I contacted my e-mail courier and microsoft, they told me that is was a plugin from Mozilla Firefox. Since then I must go through Java to send or open an e-mail... this is NOT to my satisfaction, it takes too long for all of this to open and if it is not cleared , I am dropping Mozilla and going elsewhere. Why has this occurred? Is this a result of the last update? If so can I delete the last update and continue on the other version?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == last week

    Sorry, I have no idea what you mean by '''"The Java plugin has created a time unfriendly issue with my e-mail account, I can not open or send any e-mail without using this plugin,"'''.
    If you think your problem is caused by the Java plugin, you should visit the Java support forum for assistance.
    http://forum.java.sun.com/index.jspa
    If you could explain what you mean by '''"time unfriendly''' issue with my e-mail account", maybe we'll be able to help you solve that issue.
    It might be helpful for us if we knew exactly which web-mail provider you are using. It seems strange to me that viewing or sending web-mail would actually "need" Java for operation, its more likely that some other item on the web page needs Java to run some advertising or other garbage that isn't a necessary part of the web-mail functionality you want to use.

  • Steps to create your own self signed certificate with java plugin working

    You need two tools that comes with your jdk which are keytool and jarsigner.
    Steps explain below in detail. Don't use netscape signtool, it will NEVER work!
    * keytool -genkey -keyalg rsa -alias tstkey -keypass 2br2h2m -dname "cn=Test Object Signing Certificate, o=AI Khalil, ou=Java Products, c=AU"
    cn = Certificate name
    o = organistation
    ou = organistation unit
    c = country (first two letters)
    If don't put the -dname, you can fill it line by line.
    The -keypass has to be verify at the end, and you have to wait for it to create the rsa signing keys.
    On NT by default it will put the alias information at D:\WINNT\Profiles\Administrator (if log in as administrator) with the default file called ".keystore". Windows 98 etc, don't know, search for .keystore
    file. When you update it, check for the timestamp change and you know if you at the right spot.
    You can store your alias information via the -storepass option to your current directory you work on, if you don't want to update the default .keystore file?
    The .keystore contains a list of alias so you don't have to do this process again and again.
    Another tip if you want your certificate encryption validity to be more than the default one month is simply
    add the -validity <valDays>, after the -genkey option, to make your certificate usage for encryption to last much longer.
    Note: You MUST use the -keyalg rsa because for starters the rsa encyption alogorthim is supported on ALL browsers instead of the default DSA and the other one SHA. Java plugins must work with the RSA algorthim when signing applets, else you will get all sorts of weird errors :)
    Do not use signtool because thats a browser dependant solution!! Java plugin is supposed to work via running it owns jre instead of the browser JVM. So if you going to use netscape signtool, it starts to become a mess! ie certificate will install, but applet won't start and give you funny security exception errors :)
    * keytool -export -alias tstkey -file MyTestCert.crt
    It will read the alias information in the .keystore information picking up the rsa private/public keys info and
    create your self sign certificate. You can double click this certificate to install it? But don't think this step is needed but maybe for IE? Someone else can check that part.
    If you make a mistake with the alias, simply keytool -delete -v -alias <your alias key>
    If not in default .keystore file, then simply keytool -delete -v -alias <your alias key> -keystore <your keystore filename>
    * Put your classes in your jar file, my example is tst.jar.
    * jarsigner tst.jar tstkey
    Sign your testing jar file with your alias key that supports the RSA encryption alogorthim.
    * jarsigner -verify -verbose -certs tst.jar
    Check that its been verified.
    The last step is the most tricky one. Its to do with having your own CA (Certified Authority) so you don't
    have to fork out money straight away to buy a Verisign or Twarte certificate. The CA listing as you see in
    netscape browsers under security/signers, is NOT where the plugin looks at. The plugin looks at a file called
    CACERTS. Another confusion is that the cacerts file is stored in your jre/lib/security AND also at your
    JavaSoft/Jre/<Java version>/lib/security. When you install the Java plugin for the first time in uses your
    JavaSoft folder and its the cacerts file that has to be updated you add your own CA, because thats where
    the plugin look at, NOT THE BROWSER. Everything about plugin is never to do with the browser!! :)
    * keytool -import -file MyTestCert.crt -alias tstkey -keystore "D:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.1\lib\security/cacerts"
    Off course point to your own cacerts file destination.
    Password to change it, is "changeit"
    Before you do this step make a copy of it in its own directory in case you do something silly.
    This example will add a CA with alias of my key called "tstkey" and store to my example destination.
    * keytool -list -v -keystore "E:/jdk/jdk1.3/jre/lib/security/cacerts"
    List to see if another CA is added with your alias key.
    Your html, using Netscape embed and Internet explorer object tags to point to the java plugin,
    your own self sign applet certificate should work
    Cheers
    Abraham Khalil

    I follow Signed Applet in Plugin, and it's working on
    my computer. Thanks
    But When I open my applet from another computer on
    network, why it does not work ..?
    How to make this applet working at another computer
    without change the policy file ..?
    thanks in advance,
    AnomYou must install the certificate on that computers plugin. Can this be done from the web? can anyone suggest a batch file or otherwise that could do this for end users?
    I want a way for end users to accept my cert as Root or at least trust my cert so I dont have to buy one. I am not worried about my users refusing to accept my cert. just how do I make it easy for them? IE you can just click the cert from a link, but that installs for IE, and not the plugin where it needs to be.

  • Java Plugin Viewer with Crystal Reports 2008

    Hello,
    I am trying to use the Java Plugin Viewer with Crystal Reports, but I have some problems. The ActiveX Viewer works well, but as I want to use the reports in other browsers, I need the Java viewer.
    I have a Visual Basic 6 application, and, instead of including SmartViewerActiveX.asp, I have included JavaPluginViewer.asp. I have taken this file from an older version of Crystal, and I am changing the values on it (I have done the same with the ActiveX Viewer, without problems). This is the main code of the file:
    <OBJECT
        classid="clsid:8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93"

        <param name=HasSearchExpert value="false">
        <param name=HasSelectExpert value="false">
        <param name=ShowLogo value="false">

    I know how to change all the values of this object so it works with Crystal2008 except one: the codebase.
    I have gone to IIS, and under the virtual folder "crystalreportviewers12" I don't see any JavaPlugin folder, there's only the JavaViewer folder, and there isn't any .exe inside...
    So, where can I find the .exe for the codebase?
    I have tried searching the web for a tutorial or something, but I haven't seen anything for Crystal 2008.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thank you very much!

    This is so wrong, I don't even know which forum this would belong to ( I think I'll move it to the SAP Crystal Reports, version for Eclipse topic Space...
    Let's start with this:
    I have taken this file from an older version of Crystal,
    Don't mix versions. It will not work. Period
    Next re:
    I don't see any JavaPlugin folder,
    If you want a Java solution, I'd recommend using CR for Eclipse which you can download from here:
    SAP BusinessObjects - SAP Crystal Reports, Version For Eclipse Download
    I would then recommend having a peek here:
    CRJ SDK
    Developer Help File is here:
    https://help.sap.com/javadocs/cr/xi/jrc/en/overview-summary.html
    Finally, I'm not sure what references you are making in your VB 6 app, but there is no SDK in CR 2008 that supports VB 6.

  • Java plugin not working in FF4 with correct symbolic link

    So I have the current JRE (6_24) installed correctly, and the sym links to libnpjp2.so in the correct locations for Firefox. I've tried the links in Firefox's directory plugin folder and my home directory's plugin folder but the Java plugin just will not work with Firefox.
    I've removed and cleaned both the JRE and FF, reinstalled and tried again but still no success. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem and come to a solution.

    Did you try to create a plugins folder in the Firefox installation folder and place the symlink in that folder?
