Java.properties in web services
Hi,
I have been having problems deploying web services using .property files to configure them, namely I keep getting file not found exceptions. I have had success using a relative properties file but I would really like a central file to ease maintenance issues, like when I am building stand alone apps I can add the files to the classpath and find them no problem.
I have tried jar'ing them and adding them to tomcats common/lib directory but it still isnt working.
Any ideas?
cheers
hi jjzou,
This is what I am currently doing and works perfectly when I am running stand alone apps, as then I can set the classpath to where the properties file is. However when I try it in a web server the classpath isnt so easy to define, to find file I normally just drop the jar in the common/lib dir. But when I drop a jar with the properties file in it it still cant find it....
I am totally perplexed at the moment, I know I could possiblt use the <env-entry> tags in the deployment descriptor but I am unsure if I can change these entries at run time, which I need to every now and again depending on what the user wants the web service to do.
thanks for the suggestion anyway :)

What the mechanism of the Java Proxy for Web Services in WLS 8.1
Hi, all;
I try to find out how the java proxy of web service in weblogic server 8.1
works. Suppose I use the java Proxy of a WebSerice in a client application whatever
whithin or outside the application of the web service, does the proxy actually:
1. translate my java arguments objects in XML to create SOAP msg,
2. then send the msg across the network, and web service also response SOAP msg,
3. then proxy translate it into return value of the method call ?
If that is true , the Java Proxy seems very inefficient, right?
Can any body tell me how the proxy works ?
regards,
shannonHi Shannon,
The type of proxy I'm familiar with is at the http connection level and
associated with the networking properties in the JDK, See:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/net/properties.html
Your question may be related to JWS proxies, See:
http://edocs.bea.com/workshop/docs81/doc/en/workshop/guide/howdoi/howUseTheJavaProxyForAWebService.html
You may want to ask this question in the workshop newsgroup.
Hope this helps,

Java implementation of web service concept
I am so confused. What exactly is the Java implementation of web service concept? SOAP, J2EE, JSP+Servlets+beans or what?
For an excellent description of webservices in Java read the following article
http://www.theserverside.com/resources/article.jsp?l=WebServices-Dev-Guide
It should clear most of your doubts.
Web services means a client server program which exhanges data in XML over HTTP.
Soap is one way of implementing web services. A java soap implementation is freely available at
http://xml.apache.org/soap/index.html
Also, you can read about ebXML (which is another model for making web services).
http://www.xml.org/feature_articles/2000_1107_miller.shtml
http://java.sun.com/features/2001/09/ebxmlrev.html
hope this helps.

Cfc component with readonly properties and web services
I want to transfer a cfc component across coldfusion web
services as a data transfer object. This cfc component is received
when calling a load web service, and then supplied to an update web
service. Some properties within the cfc need to be readonly since
the update web service would ignore them.
In java I would have my data transfer object with only public
set methods for those properties which are not readonly. How can I
achieve this in coldfusion?Hi,
Please check note 1004108.
Methods of Application and/or Entity Services (Business Objects) of CAF of SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 cannot be exposed in document style, only RPC/literal is possible. Sorry.
It's a restriction that is planned to be solved in one of the next releases.

Problem with java and flex web service
Hi,
I have a basic web service written in java using jax ws 2.1
ri. I need to call it from Flex using the WebService class
Annotations for the java web method :
@WebMethod
public void Login(
@WebParam(name="server") String serverURL,
@WebParam(name=AUTHENTICATE_HEADER,header=true,mode=WebParam.Mode.INOUTHolder<Authenticate Header>
authHeader)
When I try and call the service from Flex , it can't find the
login method and attempts to call it fail. If I set the web service
to RPC based using @SOAPBinding , the method is found but then
there are issues with the authentication header.
What do I need to do to get flex web services communicating
succesfully with java ?
Are there are any known compatibility issues ? Or guidelines
for going about this ?
Any help would be appreciatedwell Shay,
i've used JDev's tools to developer and to deploy the web service: the war and ear files are automatically generates you to the end of the process.
I have included all the files java and the compiled classes, but I do not have files jar.
But don't works: if i create only one java class with all code inside then it works fine!!

My task - my company has several legacy PowerBuilder applications that access a variety of Sybase and MS SQL databases. Rather than re-inventing the wheel by re-writing these applications in Java, we would like to enable these applications to call java components (EJBs) that will provide new functionality. I would need a piece of software called CSXtend (from www.cynergysystems.com) to allow PowerBuilder to call a web service. However, I am not sure how to expose my business functions (EJBs) as web services on the iPlanet 6.0 App server. Thanks for all previous responses! Any additional info would be greatly appreciated! Mike
I have used Glue (http://www.themindelectric.com/products/glue/glue.html) to expose some of our stuff as Web Services. I recently found this on serverside. It's pretty good.
http://www.theserverside.com/resources/article.jsp?l=Systinet-web-services-part-1
I believe that the middleware they use can be plugged into IPlanet. There is also an article in the knowledge base on the IPlanet site.

Access Java SOAP based web service using WS Security
Hi,
I need to call a Java based SOAP webservice which has message level security enabled with Binary Token.
I have connected to the service using SOAPUI and below is the sample header for the same. I need to achieve the same in my Windows form application from where I am calling the SOAP service over https.
I am not an expert in WS Security. Need some tips or sample code to achieve this.

Sample java code for web service calling
Hello,
I need to call the web services for adding/updating records on Oracle On Demand Entities.
In particular i need a sample code in java language that explain how to append the sessionid
to the SOAP request when calling the web service.
thanks in advance.Hi,
Each time you perform any SOD Operation after Login, ensure have your JSessionId attached to your actual Web Service URL like in example below
wsLocation ="https://secure-XXXXX.crmondemand.com/Services/Integration";
jsessionId="8d928e8330d53c6f954b16194731bad78f5f111c2043.e34PaxyNchuLe34Rax4SchaKchz0n6jAmljGr5XDqQLvpAe";
String url=wsLocation + ";jsessionid=" + jSessionId;
Use this url for all your future SOD Operation till you logout.

Java Stack for Web Service in R/3
Hello Friends,
I am developing a Web Service in R/3 server. Developed a RFC and converted it to Web Sevice.
My question is, is it necessarily required to have Java Stack in my server or will it be enough to have ABAP Stack. My server doesn't have java stack installed. shall i be able to run my Web service with ABAP stack?
Please help me and give me some suggesions.
Kumar.Hi Kumar,
the above answer is simply incorrect.
You can certainly provide a web service from the ABAP stack without any need for a Java stack.
There are several blogs, and lots of forum posts, that discuss how to do this.
If you have indeed "Developed a RFC and converted it to Web Service" then you are away.
Use transaction SOAMANAGER ( or WSADMIN, WSCONFIG on earlier releases) to publish your webservice and away you go.
Cheers

MDM 5.5 SP04 Java API and Web Service Documentation
Is there documentation available that reflects the SP04 changes to the Java API, and the web services that are now available?
As of this morning, service marketplace contained spotty SP04 docs.
Thanks in advance,
MikeMike,
A cookbook would be wonderful (I think our developers would throw a party)!
An updated object model (as a preface to the user guide) for the legacy API (MDM4J.jar) AND the new "rebranded" API (mdm-*.jar) would also work.
I've been reduced to comparing the SP3 & SP4 javadocs
One fun approach that appears to be working for us, is to model each process using the DataManager, and try to duplicate that exactly via the corresponding API objects (e.g. the simple Connect-Find Table-Search Table-View Result Set-View Record-CheckOut/Upsert/Validate/CheckIn dance). New features in the DataManager reveal themselves a little more readily
Good luck,

Java Studio Creator -- web service -- spring -- hibernate -- database
Hello,
Has somebody already worked on an architecture 3 tier including : hibernate, spring, a deployment of the classes "spring" in wsdl (Web service).
With Tomcat and Axis i deploy some web services (classes --> wsdl), with java studio creator i call the web service and the methods ...
I would know if it possible to deploy some "spring" classes to have finally (wsdl) ?
ThanksHeh heh heh....welcome to the club.
There are <b>many</b> of us wanting to integrate Spring with JSC.
I am working on doing this now, and plan to submit a quick tutorial on the subject to this forum once (if) I get it working.
To start you off in the right direction though, here are some things I <b>think</b> you need to do.
1) Make JSC Spring aware by adding the Spring.jar file in the Project Navigator (right click...Create New Library Reference).
2) Add the package structure you need in Project Manager
3) Add you Spring configuration file (application-context) in web/WEB-INF
4) Add your ContextLoaderListener to web.xml.
5) Get a servlet context and use it to get a WebApplicationContext
6) Use that to retrieve the bean you need to work with
