Java.sql.DataSet et al.

I'm using derby (also in the jdk). What happened to the jdbc4 features that were part of Mustang, they are absent in jdk1.6.

When you say using the JDK you mean just using a simple text editor and command line to compile?
I'm not too bothered about decompilation as I doubt anyone would go though the effort to decompile this particular program. As it currently stands I'm the only one known in my college class to try my hand at Java anyway. Anyone else handing a java project in would be very suspicious.
How big would the program be if the JVM was included? Is it an intricate process to combine the two?
I am aware that any code can be decompiled but e.g. VB programs can only be decompiled into assembly... atleast I have yet to see a proper VB decompiler in action.
The app.path Java equivelant I need so the files needed by the program which should be in the same directory can be found with ease.
What compiler did JBuilder come with? It's own or did they simply include Sun's?
Whats the general opinion of V J++? is it pretty much Java or has M$ screwed it over and turned it into their own?
When an argument is passed to a method in Java is it referenced in memory or is a copy created? How do I pass an array to a method? and not create a copy of it? ref?
Can applets perform read and write actions on the machine it is stored? Can I refuse connections if a client is already connected?
Thanx

  • Cannot import java.sql.BaseQuery

    Hi,
    I am trying to run the following example using JDK6:
    import java.sql.BaseQuery;
    import java.sql.DataSet;
    import java.sql.Select;
    public interface UserQueries extends BaseQuery {
        // Select all users
        @Select (sql ="SELECT userId, firstName, lastName FROM Users",
                 readOnly=false, connected=false, tableName="Users")
        DataSet<User> getAllUsers ();
        // Select user by name */
        @Select (sql ="SELECT userId, firstName, lastName FROM Users"
                 + "WHERE userName=?", readOnly=false, connected=false,
                 tableName ="Users")
        DataSet<User> getUserByName(String userName);
    }But I get the error in the import statement itlself. It is not able to import these classe-
    import java.sql.BaseQuery;
    import java.sql.DataSet;
    import java.sql.Select;
    Are they shipped with JDK 6?
    thnx
    Sanjeev.

    Because those classes don't exist. A simple, and very quick, perusal of the API docs would have told you this.

  • Error While viewing data on XML model- java.sql.SQLException: constante num

    I am trying to read an XML file and I keep getting an error. At first it worked, and the it stopped working. I re-did everthing exactly as first time and I cannot get it work
    Here is what I do :
    1)     Create Physical Architecture under the XML Technology.
    a) we create a Data Server with these data:
              Name: XML_SERIVA_TM_DES
              Technology: XML
              JDBC Driver: com.sunopsis.jdbc.driver.xml.SnpsXmlDriver
              JDBC Url: jdbc:snps:xml?file=c:\Temp\hoy\CRM_CR_CURRENCY.xml&dtd=c:\Temp\hoy\ServiciosSerivaConsultasTypes0.xsd
         b) We place the files xml and xsd files according to the JDBC provided in previous point.
         We click on "Test Connection" and Connection is correct
         c) We create a physical schema under the Data Server created in point a) , with these data:
              Name: XML_SERIVA_TM_DES (After created the name is replaced by XML_SERIVA_TM_DES.Esquema)
              Schema (Schema) : <No Definido> ( not sure of english value, it should be <Undefined>)
              Schema (Work Schema) : <No Definido> ( not sure of english value, it should be <Undefined>)
              Default :It is a checkbox , and it is ticked.
              Under the "Context" tab, we add a logical schema named XML_SERIVA_TM for the "Desarrollo" Context
    2) Create a Model On the Designer Navigator, we expand the "Models" panel
         a) For Organization, We create a "Folder" Model. It is named "XML"
         b) Under the Folder created in a), we create a new Model , with these data:
              Name: XML_SERIVA_TM
              Code: XML_SERIVA_TM
              Technology: XML
              Logical Schema: XML_SERIVA_TM
         c) Do reverse-engineering.
              In the Reverse tab of the model,
                   + "Standard" is selected
                   + Context: "Desarrollo"
                   + The types of objects to reverse-engineer are: Table
              In the Selective reverse tab, we select : New Datastores, Existing Datastores, Objects to reverse.
              All the datastores that appear are checked
              We click on Reverse Engineer in the toolbar menu
              And the reverse engineer is done successfully and the datastores appear in the model panel
         d) We try to test the reverse engineering by clicking on the datastores and select "View Data",
              after click we get the folloging exception (running with Local agent) :

  • BC4J - How can I get java.sql.Connection ?

    Hi,
    I am using BC4J for my Application and want to get the java.sql.Connection from ApplicationModule or from anywhere such that I can use the same connection as in ApplicaitonModule, to do some work in the database.
    I tried to get it from the SessionInfo :
    sessioninfo.getConnectionInfo();
    but this returns me oracle.dacf.dataset.connections.Connection
    How can I convert this to java.sql.Connection?
    Or Is there any other means to get hold of sql.Connection?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    TIA

    Thanks for this reply.. but
    I need java.sql.Connection to call a stored procedure in Oracle database and I have to pass oracle.sql.ARRAY to it.
    My Stored Procedure looks like:
    create or replace PROCEDURE updateRevenueNetworkInfo(revid varchar2, netids Varchar32Array)
    where 'Varchar32Array' is my own datatype in the database which is mapped to oracle.sql.ARRAY object in java.
    And in order to create oracle.sql.ARRAY I need java.sql.Connection as shown below
    oracle.sql.ARRAY pTable = new oracle.sql.ARRAY(desc, connection, netidarray);
    I am executing my stored procedure like this:
    ArrayDescriptor desc = null; CallableStatement cs = null;
    String[] netidarray = {"00-AOL-T1-N003"};
    desc = ArrayDescriptor.createDescriptor("VARCHAR32ARRAY", conn);
    oracle.sql.ARRAY pTable = new ARRAY(desc, connection, netidarray);
    cs = conn.prepareCall( "BEGIN updaterevenuenetworkinfo(?,?); END;" );
    ((OracleCallableStatement)cs).setString(1,"00-AOL-T1-R3");
    ((OracleCallableStatement)cs).setArray(2, pTable);
    cs.execute();
    Is there any way of getting java.sql.Connection such that I can use the same connection as in the ApplicationModule?
    OR Is there any other way of passing Array of Strings to a stored procedure in the database?
    Thanks for the help.

  • Oracle XSU class oracle.xml.sql.dataset.OracleXMLDataSetExtJdbc bug

    Hi,
    The oracle class oracle.xml.sql.dataset.OracleXMLDataSetExtJdbc needlessly casts the java.sql.Connection it receives in its constructor to oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleConnection.
    This will work fine in most circumstances, but throws a class cast exception when a proxified connection is used such that the connection is a wrapper rather than an instance of OracleConnection.
    I believe there would be absolutely no need for the oracle class to cast the connection to its derived form.
    Please correct this problem in the XSU as soon as possible.
    Thanks in advance,
    -- Dave Campbell

    Yes, of course I have. If you carefully see my first post, you will notice that I get an
    'ORA-00904: invalid column name' error when I - in purpose - use an invalid Query, which means that communication with Oracle DB is fine. The problem appears when my Query does return some results. It's really confusing me...
    Any other ideas?
    thanks!

  • Poblem with java.sql.Date while inserting to a table

    Hi All,
    I have a PostgreSQL database table which contains fields(columns ) of type date. I want to insert values to the table in the[b] dd-MMM-YYYY format using the prepared statement.
    My code is as follows
    java.text.DateFormat dateFormatter =new java.text.SimpleDateFormat("dd-MMM-yyyy");
    String formatedDate=dateFormatter.format(theDate);
    currentDate = new java.sql.Date(dateFormatter.parse(formatedDate).getTime())

    pst.setDate(12,currentDate);The problem is the currentDate variable gives date only in the YYYY-MMM-dd format but requirement is the currentDate variable should give date in the dd-MMM-YYYY format and this should be save to table as java.sql.Date type
    There is any solution???? please help me...
    Thanks and Regards,
    Hyson_05

    Hi,
    What are you talking about? A Date does always wrap a millisecond value, and doesn't have any formatting. It's the database, or your program which formats the date that you see.
    In short. You should format the value when you print it, and not when you store it.

  • What is the diffrence between package javax.sql and java.sql

    Is javax designed for J2EE?
    And when to use package javax?

    Hi,
    What is the diffrence between package javax.sql and java.sql?The JDBC 2.0 & above API is comprised of two packages:
    1.The java.sql package and
    2.The javax.sql package.
    java.sql provides features mostly related to client
    side database functionalities where as the javax.sql
    package, which adds server-side capabilities.
    You automatically get both packages when you download the JavaTM 2 Platform, Standard Edition, Version 1.4 (J2SETM) or the JavaTM 2, Platform Enterprise Edition, Version 1.3 (J2EETM).
    For further information on this please visit our website at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/guide/jdbc/index.html
    Hope this helps.

  • *URGENT HELP REQUIRED* java.sql.SQLException: Invalid Oracle URL specifed

    Hi all,
    In the middle of the last week for my final year project and having to convert to an Oracle database due to compatibility problems with university Tomcat Server and MS Access. I'm having trouble connecting to the Oracle database and would appreciate some help please.
    Running on Windows 98 in the lab here, and the Oracle 9i, release 9.2.0.2.0, J2SDK1.4.0, Classes12.zip installed OK.
    Code for connection looks like this inside the constructor of my class:
    Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
    cardSaleConnexion = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:[email protected]:1521:sid","user_name","pwdt");
    System.out.println("Connection Successful ");
    And I'm getting the following error when calling the constructor in a driver program:
    java.sql.SQLException: Invalid Oracle URL specified

    Please reply on a very urgent basis.
    Kind regards,

    Try ojdbc14.jar as the JDBC driver instead of classes12.zip.
    Refer:
    http://otn.oracle.com/software/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/htdocs/jdbc9201.html
    http://docs.sun.com/source/817-5603-10/index.html
    Database Driver
    This section describes the known database driver issues and associated solutions.
    ID      Summary
    4700531      On Solaris, an ORACLE JDBC driver error occurs.
         This new Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) driver is for Oracle (R) working with JDK1.4. The problem is caused by a combination of the Oracle 9.1 database and ojdbc14.jar. Applying the patch will fix the problem on Solaris 32-bit machine, running an Oracle 9.0.1.3 database.
         Solution
         Obtain and apply the patch to your server from the Oracle Web site for Bug 2199718. Perform the following steps:
         1.Go to the Oracle web site.
         2.Click the 'patches' button.
         3.Type 2199718 in the patch number field.
         4.Click the 32-bit Solaris OS patch.Go to Metalink.oracle.com.
         5.Click patches.
         6.Under patch number, enter 2199718.
         7.Click the 32 bit Solaris OS patch.
    4707531      On Solaris, accessing an Oracle 9.1 database with an Oracle 9.2 Client may cause data corruption.
         If you use an Oracle (R) 9.2 client to access an Oracle 9.1 database, data corruption might occur when a number column follows a timestamp column.
         The problem might be caused by using the ojdbc14.jar file with an Oracle 9.1 database. Applying the patch might assist in addressing the situation on Solaris 32-bit machines, running an Oracle 9.1 database. This JDBC driver is for Oracle working with JDK1.4.
         Solution
         Obtain the patch that Oracle might make available from the Oracle web site for Bug 2199718 and apply it to your server.
    Regards,
    Pankaj D.

    You cannot do two thing at the same time with the same statement (while your ResultSet is open you are making an insert), try using a separate Statement that the one you used for the query for the insert. If that doesn't work, make a new connection, that will do it.
    If you were using a separate statement then I'm sorry, I couldn't tell from your code. I'd had a similar problem and that's the way I solved it.

  • Problem with java.sql.Clob and oracle.sql.CLOB

    Hi,
    I am using oracle9i and SAP web application server. I am getClob method and storing that in java.sql.Clob and using the getClass().getName() I am getting the class name as oracle.sql.CLOB. But when I am trying to cast this to oracle.sql.CLOB i am getting ClassCastException. The code is given below
    java.sql.Clob lOracleClob = lResultSet.getClob(lColIndex + 1);
    lPrintWriter = new PrintWriter(new BufferedWriter (((oracle.sql.CLOB) lOracleClob).getCharacterOutputStream()));
    lResourceStatus = true;
    can anybody please tell me the what is the problem with this and solution.
    thanks,
    Ashok.

    Hi Ashok
    You can get a "ClassCastException" when the JVM doesn't have access to the specific class (in your case, "oracle.sql.CLOB").
    Just check your classpath and see if you are referring to the correct jar files.
    cheers

    Thankz,

    Hi friends...
    I've read the last post...
    The problem that I have is as follow....
    1. I have installed on my machine MySQL 5.0 Server running
    1.1 I have a database called "base1"
    1.2 User "root", password "works"
    1.3 I have the following sentence to connect it using JDBC
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost/base1", "root", "works");
    More notes:
    - I use the JDBC 5.0
    - My Machine is a Windows XP SP2 Pentium 3.0 512Mb
    and it connects
    but I have this environment to develop applications, now that I want to connect to Production Environment happens the following:
    2 The Production database is mounted on a Linux Server with MySQL 3.2.
    2.1 I change the sentences as follow:
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://192.168.0.7/base1", "user", "password");
    2.3 But a message appears when I run the Java Program:
    java.sql.SQLException:Access denied for user: '[email protected]' (Using password: YES)
    2.4 As you can see it changes the IP Address...
    More notes:- I have the MySQL Query Browser and I got connection.
    - The IP that display the Error Message is my Second IP configurated on my Network Properties.
    - Server is a Pentium 4 3.0 GHz 2Gb Linux Red Hat 3.0
    I leave this case for the spider... I hope that somebady has the solution.
    What is the problem? Why the JDBC doesn't respect the IP that I wrote.

I have describe bellow the environment configuration and the stack trace. The error which surprised me was when I use type 3 driver while starting weblogic I get ORA 24327 but when I use Type 4 it starts properly. If you could kindly provide solution it would be great help. I would also appreciate if u can provide information which driver to use where performance is the major concern. I would also appreciate if u could provide feed-back from the industry about booth the driver. Apart from that I have couple have environment where it occurs when 10/12 user access simultaneously. All the open connection is closed in program properly still am getting the error.
    Thanks in anticipation.

    Hi,
    I guess you can try some of these:
    - Make sure you're not missing an entry inside your tnsnames.ora file. Thin driver does not require the information inside that file, as opposed to Weblogic's OCI driver. If you are able to connect to the DB using a thin driver, then the problem is most probably (WL)driver-related.
    - Make sure you've properly configured the DB user / password inside your weblogic.properties (config.xml if WL6+).
    - Make sure you're able to access all drivers and classes required (PATH, CLASSPATH, etc...)
    - Make sure the OCI driver version you are using is fully compatible with the Oracle (server) version you are pointing to.
    - Try to access the DB user through some other client (for instance, SQLPlus*).
    Hope this is of some help,
    Freddy.
