Java Sqlite Connection in Linux
I am getting the following connection error between Java and Sqlite in Redhat Linux OS:

I am using:
Sqlite version 3.7.4
Java Version 1.5.0_22
sqlitejdbc-v056.jar
sqlite_jni linux x86 (32bit) v1.tar.bz2
I set path in bash-profile file like:
PATH=$PATH:/usr/java/jdk1.5.0_22/bin:$PATH:/usr/local/lib/sqlite.jar:$PATH:/usr/local/lib/sqlitejdbc-v056.jar:$PATH:/usr/local/lib/libsqlite_jni.so
export PATH
How to solve this error?
R.Sridaran
I downloaded javasqlite-20090430.rpm. After installing I got libsqlite_jni.so and sqlite.jar file in /usr/lib folder. I copied to /usr/local/lib folder and set path in my bash-profile file. Now "*no sqlite_jni in java.library.path*" error was solved and am getting only the following error:

at com.attract.util.jnetdaemon.JDaemonController.main(JDaemonController.java:142)
I tried
sqlitejdbc-v056.jar
sqlitejdbc-v054.jar
sqlite-jdbc-3.7.2.jar
Can you please tell me a jdbc jar file to solve this error.

Connectivity to Linux using SSH
Hi,
I have to run a script located at remote Linux Machine. I was initially told not to use SSH Server at that linux machine. Now having difficult alternative paths, i have the option of using SSH. I need to access remote machine from local window machine using jsp running in another window server.
I did googling a lot. What i ask is can i use SSH library of java to connect to remote SSH server. If i can connect, Do i need to configure SSH server for this remote connection. The remote linux machine is now also connected via other client tools like SSH Tools and Putty Tools. But i need to access using jsp. What could be the easiest way. I am neither expert or even good at Java nor at linux. Besides i don't have much time to implement it.
Thank you.Thnx,
But this would require java program to run continuously at the server. This may occupy a lot of resources. Please correct me if i am wrong. Besides is this method secure? Are there any other alternatives.[somthing like connecting to remote SSH Server and calling runtime().exec() methods] -
What is the recommended way to get a java.sql.Connection to the DB for ADF
How do I create a standalone database connection based on the datasource setup in ADF?
I have seen code like this in a method of AppModuleImpl.java but that seems a bit of a hack.
Connection conn = this.getDBTransaction().createStatement(0).getConnection();
What I need is a java.sql.Connection to the database used in the application module so I can call PL/SQL code and or work with AQ queues.
I would prefer a separate connection from the one used by the ADF model so it can have its own transaction control etc.
But I would like to get the connection created authenticated based on regular datasource setup.http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/jdeveloper/howto/11114/managedserver/wlsadfms.html#8c

[]'sIs possible to use class java.util.Connection with J9 VM using CDC/PP ?Yes. Check your classpath JARs for java.sql.Connection. You may be missing the jar "database_enabler.jar". See:

Java Not Displaying Correctly - Linux
When I run a Java JAR file in linux, the program loads up fine but I cannot see anything. All I do see is the outline to the GUI and a bunch of grey inside. If I click on the X I can partially see the popup asking If I am sure and thats it. Not sure what is going on, I have tried it with different versions of java, jre and jdk. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
PatrickIf you are using swing component. Then you require javaplugin 1.3 above is required in your browser. Check your browser if you are openning the GUI in netscape of linux you will be having this problem because netscape 4.7 by default will be having javaplugin 1.1.5 it will not allow you to execute GUI. So you need to update the plugin to 1.3 above. I think your problem will be solved once you change your plugin.

Can't we pass java.sql.Connection as parameter toDatum() method
I am in mid of java 1.3 to 1.4 migration, now I am getting the below error.can't we pass java.sql.Connection as a param to toDatum(), but I did the same before for another module and it worked fine, now I am getting the error.
any changes need to be done?
[b]toDatum(oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleConnection,java.lang.String) in oracle.jpub.runtime.MutableArray cannot be applied to (java.sql.Connection,java.lang.String)
return array.toDatum(c, SQL_NAME);
^
1 error
I changed to use
import oracle.sql.ORAData;
import oracle.sql.ORADataFactory;
instead of
import oracle.sql.CustomDatum;
import oracle.sql.CustomDatumFactory;In general, it's bad practice to be that "open" with regards to parameters to methods, especially when using remote invocations. However, if you really, really, really, really need to - and I doubt you do - you can use Serializable for the type of parameter. But that's still inelegant and, well, raises all sorts of issues, starting with your design...

Java Application connectivity to Coherence cluster
I am looking around the options for Java application connecting to Coherence cluster..
These are the options I seem to have
1. Coherence Extend -
2. Make Java application as a cluster member with no storage
what are the pros/cons?
ThanksHi,
Here are my thought off the top of my head
*1. Use Extend if...*
<li> Your application is short lived - i.e. does not run for very long (minutes)
<li> Your application is not located close (in network terms) to the rest of the cluster
<li> Your client uses a different version of Coherence to the cluster (there are caveats around this)
<li> The client application is being developed by another team and its release cycle is not under your control
Pros:
Good for short lived applications
Good for remotely located clients
Can be written in other languages than Java
Cons:
Extend will perform slower than a cluster member as every request goes via the proxy server and then to the rest of the cluster.
If using an invocation service where you want to run invocables across the cluster it needs a two step process.
A badly written Extend client can perform requests which could take out the proxy server
*2. Use a cluster member if...*
<li> Your application runs for a long time - i.e. it is something like a web or application server
<li> Your application is well behaved - i.e. does not have big GC pauses. A very badly behaved cluster member can destabilize the rest of the cluster
<li> Your application is located close (in network terms) to the rest of the cluster
Pros:
Faster than an Extend client
Cons:
Needs to be stable
Needs to be located close to the rest of the cluster
Hope that helps as a start

How to check whether java.sql.Connection has been dropped or not
Hi,
How can i check whether the connection is dropped from the database or not by using java.sql.Connection API.
ThanksThere's a few ways to check Connections, each with a different use:
(1) conn.isOpen()
(2) conn == null
(3) the last one is a little more involved and adds some overhead. You can run SELECT 1 FROM dual; (Oracle) or SELECT 1 (MSSQL) and check for exceptions.
The only way to check a connection, as far as I know, is to use it. That said, there must be a better way??? -
Crystal report Java Beans Connectivity
Hi
My name is Bach Ong. I.m currently migrating Crystal reports 10 to Crystal reports 2008 using Java Beans Connectivity. Using ResultSet as dataset. all results are return alright, EXCEPT for string type fields. The data for STRING type fields are some how suppressed. But if i executed the beans within eclipse the the string field is populated with data.
can someone assist me with this issue.
Thanks
Bach OngSome suggestions I would give for this are:
1. It may be a fault with the data itself. Specifically, if you have a string field that contains invalid or null data (Instead of an empty string), it may be causing an error to be thrown when the report engine tries to process the string fields - and it thus fails on all string fields.
So please try this with some data where all fields contain valid non-null, non-empty data and see if it works.
2. One of the difficulties with javabeans is that they don't give proper error messages. However, there is a way to kick off the javabean java process in the crystal report designer which allows you to debug your javabean inside the report designer. I have attached a sample that shows how to do that - and that should get you the real error message of what is going wrong.
Note: Due to the way these forums work - it will only let me attach a file if it is named with the .txt extension. You will need to extract the txt file and then rename it to .zip (annoying I know).

i m trying to connect to mysql database through java.
i have mysql-java-connector jars file placed in the
JAVA_HOME\jre\lib\ext directory.That's a terrible place to put them. Only language extensions (e.g., packages that start with javax) belong in there. Put that JAR closer to your application.
>

this error...............
Exception in thread "main"
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: TestLook at the exception: it's complaining about Test, NOT the MySQL JDBC driver class.
You obviously don't understand how CLASSPATH works:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/tooldocs/windows/classpath.html
I think you have to add the current directory to the CLASSPATH in order to run your Test:
java -classpath . TestNote the "dot" after -classpath. That tells the class loader to start looking in the current directory. since your Test.java doesn't have a package statement, I'm assuming that Test.class is in the same directory as Test.java.

Not able to connect Azure Linux Virtual Machine with Putty
Hi,
I am not bale to connect Azure Linux Virtual Machine with Putty... Error shows "Network error: connection timed out".
Please help.
Thanks,
Techsol
Thanks, KkHi TechSol01,
Thanks for posting here.
I suggest you to try the below steps
On a computer running a Windows operating system, you might want to use an SSH client such as PuTTY. For more information, see the
PuTTY Download Page.
On a computer running a Linux operating system, you might want to use an SSH client such as OpenSSH. For more information, see
OpenSSH.
If it is the endpoint configuration, you can go to the portal and add port 22, (it should already be there by default).
Now if it is locked out of the VM because of the firewall on the VM, which is called iptables , You won't be able to connect to the VM,
If you haven’t configured the port 22. You may have to follow the below steps :
A = Original VM (Inaccessible VM)
B = New VM (New Temp VM)
1) Stop VM A via the Azure management portal
2) Delete VM A BUT select “keep the attached disks”
3) Once the lease is cleared, attach the Data Disk from A to VM B via the Azure Portal, Virtual Machines, Select “B”, Attach Disk
4) On VM “B” eventually the disk will attach and you can then mount it.
5) Locate the drive name to mount, on VM “B” look in relevant log file note each linux is slightly different.
grep SCSI /var/log/kern.log (ubuntu)
grep SCSI /var/log/messages (centos, suse, oracle)
6) Mount the attached disk onto mountpoint /tempmount
df -h
mkdir /tempmount
mount /dev/sdc1 /tempmount
df –h
7) Now you should be able to clear the rules set from the configuration file of the firewall, by accessing it
through /tempmount
Let me know if this works

BC4J - How can I get java.sql.Connection ?
Hi,
I am using BC4J for my Application and want to get the java.sql.Connection from ApplicationModule or from anywhere such that I can use the same connection as in ApplicaitonModule, to do some work in the database.
I tried to get it from the SessionInfo :
sessioninfo.getConnectionInfo();
but this returns me oracle.dacf.dataset.connections.Connection
How can I convert this to java.sql.Connection?
Or Is there any other means to get hold of sql.Connection?
Any help would be appreciated.
TIAThanks for this reply.. but
I need java.sql.Connection to call a stored procedure in Oracle database and I have to pass oracle.sql.ARRAY to it.
My Stored Procedure looks like:
create or replace PROCEDURE updateRevenueNetworkInfo(revid varchar2, netids Varchar32Array)
where 'Varchar32Array' is my own datatype in the database which is mapped to oracle.sql.ARRAY object in java.
And in order to create oracle.sql.ARRAY I need java.sql.Connection as shown below
oracle.sql.ARRAY pTable = new oracle.sql.ARRAY(desc, connection, netidarray);
I am executing my stored procedure like this:
ArrayDescriptor desc = null; CallableStatement cs = null;
String[] netidarray = {"00-AOL-T1-N003"};
desc = ArrayDescriptor.createDescriptor("VARCHAR32ARRAY", conn);
oracle.sql.ARRAY pTable = new ARRAY(desc, connection, netidarray);
cs = conn.prepareCall( "BEGIN updaterevenuenetworkinfo(?,?); END;" );
((OracleCallableStatement)cs).setString(1,"00-AOL-T1-R3");
((OracleCallableStatement)cs).setArray(2, pTable);
cs.execute();
Is there any way of getting java.sql.Connection such that I can use the same connection as in the ApplicationModule?
OR Is there any other way of passing Array of Strings to a stored procedure in the database?
Thanks for the help.

Java Applets connecting to Oracle DB thru OAS (JNDI)
i am developing an application, like i said before, i am using three applets, one controls a webcam, (records an image to disk and oracle), another controls a Electronic signature pad (records an image to disk and oracle), and finally a finger print reader (the same with this), at the beginning i didnt have any problem at all connecting this applet to the database, but top management wants to do things in another way, not allowing me to connect the applet directly to the database for security reason, My app resides on Oracle Application Server, and i use DataSource and Connection Pooling,
I want that this applets use the available datasource on OAS to connect to the Database, due that the DataBase IP Address wont be public but OAS IP address will, I know that i must use JNDI to accomplish this, but i didnt have any results at all
