JAVA to PDF

How to convert doc to pdf using java?

i use iText time enough to say it's impossible to use it for convert a DOC to a PDF.
I've the same problem, i try to find a way to dynamically convert DOC to PDF with java, but the only thing i found is small applications that do the same that acrobat distiller. This applications are Adoc2PDF and CZ-DOC2PDF. Adoc is cheaper and works very well ... but its an application not what i'm looking for.
iText is perfect for dynamically create a PDF, it support almost all the image formats and is very easy. But its not perfect ...
I think the only way to convert a DOC to a PDF is create a DOC parser and then use iText ... but we all know that a word document is more complex than a PDF, and it deppend if its a Office 97 document or a Office 2000 document ... and Office 2003 is out now ... and they are incompatible with each other (microsoft denies it :-D ).
May the force be with you.

You can use JFreeReport to format data from a TableModel (as in JTable) into a report that can be previewed on-screen, printed, or exported to PDF:

  • Java and PDF

    Dear Gurus,
I am a newbie in the field of JavaScript. My problem goes as follows.
I have added links to one of my PDF documents through addWebLinks(). It worked great. This method added hyperlinks to my PDF document.
However my user is a non-technical user, he opens PDF in browser through my company's intranet and then he clicks on links in PDF. He wants these links TO BE OPENED IN ANOTHER BROWSER. By default all these links are opening on the same browser in which PDF is opened.
I also tried following way, app.launchURL("http://www.adobe.com/", true); This will open url in new browser, But this method will not support lower version like acrobat 4.0.
I would welcome any hints/tips on this topic.
    Regards,
    Sandeep

  • Generate PDF from VC without using BI-JAVA or PDF convertor on client side

    Hi there
I need to generate a PDF from Visual Composer
a pdf final result,  generated by several BAPIS, several tables , logo, static text, etc
but I do not want to use the two solutions below described.
I want to use a component or something installed on the server, to facilitate user's life.
Is there any PDF convertor in R3? I have to install an Adobe Component?  other idea?
    a. In this thread ilustrates how to generate a PDF in a very simple way using a print function
and a PDF convertor previously installed.
Re: How to export from VC a bapi output table to a PDF file
    b. I have read another solution that uses the PCD location of the Web Analizar (BI-Java).
    Thanks, Alex Market

Again, NO BI-JAVA. NO PDF convertor on client side.
My idea is to create a Flex component with the PDF convert library.
    Something like this,
    http://lucamezzalira.com/2009/02/28/create-pdf-in-runtime-with-actionscript-3-alivepdf-zinc-or-air-flex-or-flash/
Then embed it to the Visual Composer
like Amir Mimran show us in this  "How to guide"
Re: NEW: Flash Component Consumption in Visual Composer 7.01 SP5
The problem that I see is
our installation is 7.0 SP18, we have to upgrade to 7.01 SP5 at least,
the Flash Components feature is available on 7.01 SP5 (NetWeaver 2004s Enhancement Pack 1, SP5)
and more important, currently, this functionaily is only available in Windows Platform.
Unix flatform will be supported from ehp1 sp6, according to this post
VC model including flash component is not visible in run-time.
    regards, Alex

  • BW Java Split / PDF Error

Recently my client had my team split out the java engine fromt he BW dual stack systems. They wanted to have single sign on  and could not do this with the abap system as their data source.
Rather than uninstalling the existing j2ee, we stopped it. I installed a new portal to host the j2ee processing and applications our client currently uses in the portal. I have found that in these previously dual stack systems port 8000 is redirecting to the j2ee engine, and then it shows as being unavailable because the j2ee engine is stopped.
How do we prevent the BW system from redirecting calls to j2ee? I want all port 8000 calls to be sent to abap exclusively. This has caused problems when I tried to setup adobe interactive forms, my destination back from the portal to BW always shows a http 503 error now because it is trying to call the j2ee not abap.
    Thanks,

Note 1229586 indicates the profile parameters all need to be cleaned out for j2ee after a split. The parameter icm/HTTP/j2ee_0 was still set.
icm/HTTP/j2ee_0  PREFIX=/,HOST=localhost,CONN=0-500,PORT=5$$00 - removing this from the SAP profile and restarting the ICM will resolve the issue.
Prior to to removal http calls to port 8000 always come back with:

  • Looking for a java-based SDK that handles file conversion to PDF and TIF...

    Hi all,
First off, this is my first posting so I'm not 100% sure where to post this topic. So please forgive me if I'm accidentally posting in the wrong location.
My question deals with a project I am currently working on.
I am looking for a java-based SDK that can meet the following requirements...
    1) convert all printable file-formats (i.e. JPEG, DOC, TXT, PPT, etc.) into PDF
    2) merge multiple PDFs into one PDF
    3) convert PDF to TIF or at least do some sort of conversion to TIF
    4) works in Java or some sort of web-based language
    5) free or relatively cheap
Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you very much.

I don't think you will get one API to do them all.
    Some helpful hints:

[http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/fop/] (with the pdf-image extension, that I can't find now :shakefist)

  • Pure Java API to generate/transform linearized PDFs?

I found some tools on the net to linearize PDF documents. But all use JNI to call some native library (DLL). Is there also a pure Java solution to linearize PDFs?

    Martin,
Could you pass on the info on solutions you mentioned on java/jni PDF linearization? Iv'e used the pdfopt script based on ghostscript to linearize iText-created pdf files with jpg images. However, pdfopt applied to pdf files with jpeg-2000 images are not properly linearized for a reason I've not tracked down yet. We're building pdf formats for scanned books as part of the openlibrary.org project at the Internet Archive "open source books" project.
In fact, any free/open source solution for pdf linearization for linux would be very useful, even if not java-based.

  • How to read, dispaly and open pdf files

Hi, I am very new to Java butI have VB6.0 background. My current requirement is to read pdf file names from a directory, then
show them on a form in a list (with their path in background pointing to the actual pdf files) and then once a user clicks any
file name, open that file on the form.
    For example:
My pdf files are in a directory as following:
    C:\myreports\user1\
    report1.pdf
    report2.pdf
    report3.pdf
    C:\myreports\user2\
    report1.pdf
    report5.pdf
The output on the form should look like this if user1 has logged in the system. Side note: I am able to get userid of the logged in person in a variable.
    My Reports:
    . Report 1
    . Report 2
    . Report 3
When a user clicks Report 1, it opens on the same form in pdf format.
    Thanks
    S.yhong

For the first part (Listing thepdf files in the directory) you can use the java.lang.File class.
    File f = new File("path to your directory");
    File files[] = f.listFiles();
then process the files array to find the files with extenction pdf
You can also use a file filter object and make the listFiles method return only the pdf files.
Please read the documentation about the File class for more info about it.
*/ For the displaying the pdf part is it good enough if you load the accrobat reader and with it. In that case you can do that using the Runtime.exec
Also you can search for free java based pdf viewers I am sure there must be meny.
And also the JTextPane might support pdf but I am not sure about it.
    EDIT:
Just to say that this is my 1000th post :)
