Java web service using pl/sql DB package - JDev 10.1.3.1

Hi All,
I wanted to create a java web service, instead of a pl/sql web service, that calls a pl/sql package in my DB.
Jdev (10.1.3.1) can generate java code for my pl/sql package. But the generated code can't be used with a java web service. I've found that the generated code uses types that can't be serialized for a webservice (ie. java.sql.Timestamp).
Does anyone know of a work around?
Thanks!

http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe1013jdev/10131/wsfromplsqlpackage/devwsfrom%20plsql.htm
It's pretty well documented within Jdev also.
Thanks, Rob

  • Creating a java Web Service Using Axis

    I need to write a Java web Service using Axis which send a file as an DIme attachement and It should to be invoked by .NET Client .
    I need to know how to attach a file to Soap response and how to read a file from the response at Client.
    I am new to web Services ,,please help me......

    Hi
    You can use a java web service to publish a Web service from a Java class.
    A wizard creates the WSDL document and deployment files needed to publish your code as a Web service. After you select the class and methods you want to publish, the wizard generates deployment descriptors, a JAX-RPC mapping file, and a WSDL document that can be deployed to an application server.
    You can refer : \bpel\samples\tutorials\102.InvokingProcesses\ws sample to invoke a WS using JAX-RPC Call.
    Hope that helps!

    Comments -
    The web service operation only has input message. The input message consists of a complex type as seen in WSDL.
    Questions -
    1. This is my first attempt in invoking a web service from pl/sql program. Is the code in SOAP body correct as mapped to the complex type in WSDL ?
    2. As seen from the dbms_out - the last message before ORA-12560 is 5.5, that means the call is erroring at following code line -
    http_req:= utl_http.begin_request ------ what am I doing wrong here ?
    3. The web service is SSL as seen from WSDLand needs a username/password for access - which is being performed by following code line -
    utl_http.set_authentication(http_req, '<username for webservice>', '<password for webservice user>'); ------- is that correct ?
    4. I am not using any proxy server - should I be using it ? When is it necessary to use proxy ?
    Appreciate any help.
    Thanx.

    Oracle is hosted by HOST A - this is where the pl/sql program resides.
    The Web Service being accessed by pl/sql program is hosted by HOST B and there are 4 firewalls in between.
    Oracle was not even able to establish connection to web services host.
    Escalated the issue with networking folks and they resolved the connectivity problem.
    Hope that helps.

  • Invoking P6 web services using PL/SQL block

    Hi Team,
    We have requirement like
    Oracle jobs will invoke PL/SQL code to authenticate and establish a session with the P6 Web services.
    Web service will export Project data from One Primavera database as an XML and copy to common location.
    Then this XML project files will be imported into archive database.
    Could anyone help me how I can establish sessio between Pl/SQL and P6 webservices?
    Please let me know if you need any more information.
    Regards,
    Santosh

    It will be no different than connecting to any web services through PL/SQL which is pretty hard to do and if you are asking how to do it then you have a steep learning curve ahead of you and not a great deal in the way of good examples out there.
    I wouldn't even attempt the approach you suggest.  Instead I would probably write a Java application to do it and use your PL/SQL to enqueue a message that routed to the Java application.  Then the java application with the Web Services support and P6 client would be easier to do what you want with web services.

  • Call MTOM web service using pl/sql (utl_http)

    Hi All,
    Is anyone able to call a MTOM web service using utl_http from pl/sql ?
    A typical request looks like this:
    --uuid:fd1fbed8-7042-4673-a304-becc1ffb037f+id=1
    Content-ID: <http://tempuri.org/0>
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
    Content-Type: application/xop+xml;charset=utf-8;type="text/xml"
    <s:Envelope xmlns:s="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"><s:Body>......</s:Body></s:Envelope>
    uuid:fd1fbed8-7042-4673-a304-becc1ffb037f+id=1
    A microsoft C# tool is provided to generate some requests and using fiddler I can see the content type is in the header as well as in the request. In the requests it doesn't contain the UID. Connection is set to keep-alive, is that possible using pl/sql ?
    The part that builds the header looks like:
    l_http_request := UTL_HTTP.begin_request(url => 'http://' || l_host_name || ':' || l_port || '/CRUDService.svc', method => 'POST', http_version => 'HTTP/1.1');
    UTL_HTTP.set_header(l_http_request, 'Host', l_host_name || ':' || l_port);
    UTL_HTTP.set_header(l_http_request, 'SOAPAction', '"action"');
    UTL_HTTP.set_header(l_http_request, 'Content-Length', LENGTH(l_string_request));
    UTL_HTTP.set_header(l_http_request, 'Content-ID', '<http://tempuri.org/0>');
    UTL_HTTP.set_header(l_http_request, 'Content-Transfer-Encoding', '8bit');
    UTL_HTTP.set_header(l_http_request, 'Content-Type', 'multipart/related; type="application/xop+xml";start="<http://tempuri.org/0>";boundary="uuid:fd1fbed8-7042-4673-a304-becc1ffb037f+id=1";start-info="text/xml"');
    I've played with the request by adding or removing information, the http response is (400) "Bad Request - Invalid Header", so should be somewhere in the header? Anyone ideas?
    Kind regards,
    Michiel

    HI Michiel
    I am also trying to achieve something similar to that. I am trying to call a web service that sends an xml attachment over MTOM? Kindly, let me know if this was achievable from your end? I mean how did the issue got resolved.

  • REST web service using PL/SQL

    Hello,
    I am trying to learn how a REST web service can be created using PL/SQL and how it can be used.
    I am using this as a starting point.
    Also, I am using the pre-build "Oracle Developer Days" setup for this (which means I have 11.2 version of oracle database installed).
    I have done all the steps mentioned in the above blog post but when I try to access the web service in browser, I get the

    Probably an security issue, I guess. The article (http://ora-00001.blogspot.com/2009/07/creating-rest-web-service-with-plsql.html) mentioned is a very good one (if not only I like what the site has become in recent years - much good tips and articles). As an alternative for your problems, have a look at the explaination of how Tim Hall has done it...

  • Java web service: XML to SQL

    Background: I am a second year degree student currently on placement. The company I am with wants me to design a web service that listens for incoming XML data from an external system and uses this data to update a database.
    Does anyone have any tips as to the best place to start?, what API's will be required? or just general pointers for a newbe tackling this task?
    Any advice greatly apprieciated.

    marekst wrote:
    webservice receives xml data as parameter or webservice use SOAP XML letter to receive data?
    if you get xml as parameter then you have to process XML to get java objects, if it is SOAP letter, then webservice has done job for you and you get set of java objects that should be persisted.
    To persist data easiest way is to use EJB 3.0 and JPA. Webservice create using EJB 3.0 is easy as well.
    to convert data in XML into java objects you can use DOM document + xPath or http://commons.apache.org/digester/ or something else, depending on size of XML doc
    No need to be muddying the waters with such a heavyweight solution at this point. The guy's a relative newbie, and also has stated that the number of messages is very small. The simple APIs suggested above are much more in order, otherwise the guy's got a massive learning curve ahead of him, for no real benefit. Besides, you've not mentioned ESBs, message routing, EIP and the like, so your buzzword-compliance score has dropped dramatically :-)

  • Security-role for java web services developed using j-developer 10.1.2.1

    I have developed a java web service using j-developer 10.1.2.1, I have deployed this web service to oracle 10g (10.1.2.1) application server successfully. Now I want to add security-role to my web service deployment descriptor so that only a group of users that belong to a group can access my web service.
    How can I do this? Can any one please let me know.
    Thanks,
    SC.

    Hi.
    I suspect you have a proxy server between your localhost and the
    drive-app1.drivesoftwaresolutions.com
    Probably in Jdev that proxy is setup nicely in Tools->Preferences->Web Browser and Proxy
    But maybe your OC4J container running BPEL on localhost does not have that proxy setup.
    You need to add startup parameters to the JVM. In 10.1.3 you can do this via the "AS Control" administration pages (there is a link on the SOA suite welcome page). Go to JVM, click on the container and switch to the "Administration" tab.
    The properties are proxySet, proxyHost, proxyPort and nonProxyHosts
    When deploying from JDev, the compilation in JDev works fine (uses the proxy). But when the JAR is transferred to the server, it is compiled again. This fails because the proxy is not used on the server side and it cannot read the wsdl.

  • Deployment of Web service that is in a package?

    Hello all,
    i want to deploy a java web service that is in a package (package ws;) by using the deploy.wsdd method.
    The package contains two more classes that the class i want to deploy as a web service, uses them.
    Any help, or any known tutorial on what should i do?
    Thank you.

    I presume I need to use "file-level" copying to the one-partition drive, but is there anything else to consider?
    Yes, if you're talking about CCC, then file level is all you can do copying from the drive you'r booted from, but normally best anyway as the copied files will be unfragmented.
    When failures occur, I presume they are due mainly to mechanical failures of the drive mechanism, but do "volume failures" occur very frequently?
    Very astute! It's rarely possible to just lose one partition & not others, but if it is HW failure on the HD, then likely all will be lost.
    or perhaps to a format that can be read by all platforms (other software needed for that?
    Actually, your Intel Mac can boot from an APM partition, you just can't install to it or do Firmware updates from it, but it saved my behind when my only IntelMac died recently & I gad everthing 10.5.8 on an APM Firewire drive, I just plugged it into my eMac & had everything available.
    Of course99.9% of PPC Macs can't boot OSX from USB, & cannot run/boot 10.6.x
    A few options...
    You could format that HDD as Fat32/MS-DOS, but you'd be limited to 4 GB Filesizes.

  • Generation Error - when trying to publish a Java web service

    Hi All,
    I keep getting the following Generation Error -- java.util.NoSuchElementException_ when I'm trying to create a Java Web Service using the jdeveloper wizard.
    I have 2 entities and 2 stateless session beans acting as their facades. One entity has a One-One(FK) relationship with the other entity. I test out the entities and session beans using the test client and the OC4J embedded container and everything seems to work. When I try to generate a Java WebService from one of the entities I keep getting the "Generation Error". Could someone please provide me with some insight into why I'm facing this problem, because it seemed fine when I published J2EE web services previously and now this happens and I cant seem to publish web services anymore. Everytime I keep getting the same GenerationError. Thanks in advance.

    Without going into any technical discussion about the code, my first question is what JDK version was used to create this which was imported into the form? Understand that Forms 10 runs on JDK 1.4.2, so if you used any newer JDK version, likely there will be problems.

  • Java web services help needed

    i am a student. working on a project. using java web services. using its api jax-rpc. i have compiled, deployed and run an example given in the tutorial of the web services tutorial\examples\jaxrpc\hello. now i want to bring the "hello" folder out of its original directory to e.g c:\project\. i have tried alot. i am not able to set the paths in the xml files provided. if any one of you can help me in this. my address is [email protected] . i am waiting for your reply.

    Where are you stuck up.
    Try the following steps
    create a directory structure
    c:\projects\jaxrpc
    copy your example
    <JWSDP>/docs/tutorial/examples/jaxrpc/hello to
    c:\projects\jaxrpc
    you may need to remove \build and \dist from the
    example if you have already tried the example
    copy your example
    <JWSDP>/docs/tutorial/examples/jaxrpc/common to
    c:\projects\jaxrpc
    Now the example will run correctly but only the war
    file is created in your original tutorial location.
    Now modify tut-root in
    c:\projects\jaxrpc\common\build.properties to
    tut-root=C:\\projects
    and modify the war-path in \hello\build.properties to
    point to
    war-path=${tut-root}/jaxrpc/${example}/dist/${deployabl
    -war}
    If anything fails first check the paths through
    <YOUR_path>\hello>ant debug
    If there is problem post details where it is failing.
    Ri am trying this method. i will tell you when it is done. thank you.

  • Java web service question

    I am trying to create a java web service using the wizard in Jdeveloper, but I am not able to pick up the java class I want. I already setup the classpath and library to include the java class files. but seems the wizard doesn't look at the classpath. what's the right way to do it?
    Is there any demo or tutorial code about how to create java web service ?

    Hello again,
    I am quite surprised I got no responses to my query below.
    Can anyone explain how I might do this?
    Please feel free to respond to [email protected]
    I am looking for what I think should be a simple
    example/tutorial but so far no luck. I am using
    JDeveloper 10g 10.1.3 and the Oracle Application
    Server.
    want to do this:
    create a simple Java web service
    deploy it
    create another simple Java web service, that makes a
    call to a method on the first service
    deploy it
    client->WSfront->WSback
    want to keep this as basic as possible.
    lthough I have found examples of how to create a web
    service proxy, there are no examples that I have
    found that show how to use that proxy in another web
    service:
    I did what I thought were the right things; generated
    a proxy for the first web service, and used that
    proxy in the second web service's source Java class.
    However when I deployed and tested many classes were
    missing: all the classes the proxy class depends
    on.
    I actually managed to get something like this working
    but had to manually create the .ear and .war files
    for WSfront, explode the archives, and manually add
    the missing classes to its WEB-INF/classes.

  • Creating Web services using JDeveloper for Pl/SQL package having ref cursor

    Hi,
    I am trying to create web services for PL/SQL package in JDeveloper. When I am trying to create this web service, the functions in the package which is returning referential cursor or record cursor are not visible. When I highlight the function and click "Why Not?", it displays the message "The following types used by the program unit do not have an XML schema mapping and/or serializer Specified: REF CURSOR". Could you please let me know, how I can create this web service?
    I am getting similar error when I am trying to create web service for a package with overloaded functions also.
    Thanks,

    Ok so I played around with this some more. I created the same process in bpel using oracle bpel designer and here are the results.
    1. Against 10g database running a synch process data is retutned without error.
    2. Against 9i database running an asynch process data is retutned without error.
    3. Against 9i database running a synch process data is retutned with error.
    I'm definilty missing something.
