Java Xmx size command??

Maybe it's stupid question, but i don't know how to use command java -Xmx<size> for my program?
I have 1Gb Ram, but when I lunch my program and it peaks about 80Mb in my memory i get an OutOfMemoryError.
How to increase this value?? (i need about 768Mb )

how to
use command java -Xmx<size> for my program? If your main class is named myClass, then the command line would be:
    java -Xmx768M myClassA few notes:
If you set -Xmx to a value larger than (size of RAM - size of OS - size of other apps running) then the processes will start swapping. Since garbage collection traverses the entire java heap looking for live objects (by definition), this could start the system thrashing (continually swapping). You will get a drop in performance. So remember to allow some RAM for the OS and any other jobs you have running.

  • Newbie Question: Java -Xmx and other settings...

Hi all I have a simple question,
I know that you can use the -Xms and -Xmx to set the heap size, but when I run this command is it permanent or do I have to set it each time I boot up my Windows system? How do tell what the current heap size is?
I would be grateful for any help.
    Thanks!

    My dear Friend,
if you are running your program with

This values you are using are like jvm arguments and you have to provide them everytime you are running your program.....

  • How to increase the Java Heap size ?

    Hi
I am new to java. I have created a java application and i configured in Eclipse. While running my application it throws an error that
"Exception in thread "Thread-21" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space"
i have used threads in my application. Then i searched some forums regarding this. The answer i got is "Increase the java heap size" using
"java -Xms64m -Xmx256m prog" in command prompt. while running.
But i am not running my application in command prompt. I used Eclipse to run my application. Here my ultimate question is how to set the heap size while running the application in Eclipse and where to set in Eclipse.
    Kindly help me.
    Regards
    Ramesh E

i have used 20 threads to extract the datas
Then parallel i am starting one more thread to process the data. Means that i am starting 21st thread. In thread is throwing the error.
    20 threads:

  • Image Size Command!

I really need help I try to change an image size and it just says "Couldn't complete Image Size Command because not enough memory (RAM)" how can I fix it?

Try reducing the ppi. What is happening is the pixel dimensions are getting so large that you just don't have enough memory to handle that size of a document. So a larger document would mean a smaller ppi to effectively keep the pixel dimensions down.
    inches x ppi = pixels
    pixels / ppi = inches

    Hi,
On Windows 7, you may set the Java maximum Java heap size to 1536 MB in Java Control Panel -> Java -> Java Runtime Environment Settings, Runtime paramaters for both User and System.
    -Xmx1536m -Xincgc
    Note that
depending on the desktop OS, the maximum Java heap size could vary, you'd need to test it and find out the ceiling to that OS.
-Xincgc is to enable incremental garbage collection instead of waiting for whole lot chunk of garbage to be collected.
    Hope this helps,

  • Implementing FTP SIZE command

    HI
I am trying to implement the SIZE command in FTP. The RFC says that the return value of the SIZE command will depend on the current STRUCTURE , MODE and TYPE of data connection. However, it doenot say how . I have not been able to find anything on the net either. Does anyone have a working implementation of the SIZE command , taking into account all the above mentioned factors, or any idea of how the above factors affect the SIZE command return value? Any help would be highly appreciated.

try using perhaps property/value pairs for saving the values like this:

    secondbutton=2,2
then load this as a Properties object and apply the Point values

If I increase the RAM to 4 or 6 GB where do I need to make changes for the Java Heap Size and what are the recommended values. I just have Content Server Running on the linux box. • Running eclipse java project on command prompt

    Hi all,
I have one simple java project and that is very well running in eclipse. I have added some external JARs to that project. It performs this job- it creates connection to server, and listens to the signals from server.
My question is - how do I run that java project on command prompt?*
I want to run that using ANT or simply I want to make a JAR file so I can execute JAR on command prompt. I created JAR, but it doesn't contain external jar which I added to the project. So I was not able to run that project.
Can you please tell me any of the method - using ANT or by making JAR?
Also can you be little bit more explanatory in reply?
    Thanks

I want to make a JAR file so I can execute JAR on command prompt. This is very likely a good way to proceed. It is explained in great detail in Sun's Tutorial in the section on [Packaging Programs in JAR Files|http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/deployment/jar/index.html].
I created JAR, but it doesn't contain external jar which I added to the project. So I was not able to run that project.Yes - the jar file you create has to know about the classes and other resources in that external jar. Otherwise, at runtime, the program will not be able to get at the stuff it needs. Usually you don't include that other jar (or its contents) in the jar file you are creating. Instead you provide your jar file with a manifest that describes the other jar's location. Details are also in the tutorial.
One thing to note is that Sun's tutorial provides a lot of explanatory, conceptual, material. To that end it keeps the context simple and transparent by describing the steps as they would be carried out by someone working at the command line. The Eclipse documentation and forums might provide a more click-this-drag-that "explanation". If you do follow the method in the Tutorial and get stuck, post a description of the actual commands you used and their outcome.

Looks like ur getting   heap size error while trying to fetch  records for ctparts complex table. From platform  point of view you have increased heap size. Next step is to analyze application settings for ctparts  complex table. As indicated by Steve from application point you need check the need for  amount of materials your trying to retrive , can you set filter for ctparts ,  does  ctparts  BAPI execute in SAP without any timeout error.
What is the version of Work Manager your using ?    With WM 6.1 you have options to  take advantage of data staging that is delievered as part of standard application.
    Thanks

  • Java heap size settings - Cant find the path in Registry.

    Hello All,
I am trying to check Java Heap size for my planning. I was asked to check the Java heap size setting in the below path
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/HYPERION SOLUTIONS/HYPERION PLANNING/HYPERION S9PLANNING/JVM OPTIONS.
but when I checked, I dont see that options in my registry, I have the below mentioned path.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/HYPERION SOLUTIONS/HYPERION PLANNING/OFFLINE
and it doesnt show any jvm options.
Please advice where can i check for Java heap sizes.
    Thanks,

It can depend on version, an example is - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/epm_install_11121/ch07s01s01.html
