Javascript Error (Disabled)
After upgrading to 10.5.8, webpages will detect Javascript as disabled. This occurs in both the newest build of Firefox, 3.5.2 and Safari 4.0.3 (5531.9). I checked the browser settings for both browsers and both have Javascript enabled. I could not find a solution anywhere and was wondering if anyone here had one or similar problems.
I think this issue is fixed by this note : 798647. Suggested to go with latest hotfix.

JAVASCRIPT ERROR WHEN DISABLED THE WELCOME AREA
Hi sdn,
I have modified our portal design. I set the welcome area and the logo area to the value none. Now I am always getting a javascript error when I call the side in my browser.
I get the message that an object is missing and the browser can not set the focus to an element ==> because I have disabled two areas of the portal header.
I have recognized this problem in all portal releases from EP6SP2 to EP6SP9.
What can I do to prevent these error messages?I think this issue is fixed by this note : 798647. Suggested to go with latest hotfix.

JavaScript is disabled in your browser. Please activate JavaScript from Tools>Internet Options>Security>Internet>Custom Level>Scripting>Active Scripting>Enabled.
These are the instructions for internet explorer but i can't see anything in firebox.In my Firefox 5.0 I see check-box for enabling/disabling JavaScript in the "Content" tab.
Is it checked in your Firefox and JavaScript still not working? -
This only happens whenever I try to access code view, and it won't allow me to add any more code. This is the error message I get:
"While executing DWMenu_View_Text command in menus.xml, the following JavaScript error(s) occurred:
Exception thrown in native function"
A third party tried to access my site, but the page froze, with an error message:
"Script error on line........."
I'm not sure if this has something to do with FileZilla, but now when I try to open it, I get number of error messages about, "failed to write xml file" and "Application Data\FileZilla\filezilla.xml (error 5: access is denied.)"
I've tried deleting the WinFileCache from Dreamweaver and disabled all extensions, but none of these helped.
Please help. does anyone know what's going on?I've never heard of a Filezilla DW extension, but this is the KB article for you:

I get the following JavaScript error every time I start Firefox:
ReferenceError: prepareFFB is not defined.hello, this sounds like it's possibly caused by an addon. do you have any extension/theme installed, you can connect the "FFB" to? if not try disabling them all in firefox > addons > extensions & reenable them one by one to find out which of them might be causing the error message.

I went away for a week. Everything fine. Since I got back (May 6 2010) when I click on any Google search result a pop-up box appears (sometimes when the search results page first appears before clicking anything) with this message:
"Debug Error:Exception... "Node was not found" code: "8" nsresult: "0x80530008 (NS_ERROR_DOM_NOT_FOUND_ERR)" location: "chrome://ffamazonhot/content/lib/Extension.debug.js Line: 366""
Continual clicking (100+ clicks!) of the OK button eventually clears the dialogue but any subsequent search starts the whole process again. I also not that the style of the Google results p[age has changed.
I have to use a different browser for Google searches. IE7-OK Opera 9.64 - OK Chrome - OK (naturally)
I have cleared Cache, History, Cookies etc. I have tried reinstalling FF. I have disabled JavaScript in he browser. All no good.
I notice in the forums that others are having this problem in the same time range - i.e it has just started happening. I have tired contacting Google with the usual lack of success!
Help Please!

Javascript Error in InputField Date Type
Hi,
We have migrated the Enterprise Portal Application EP5SP6 to NW2004s SP6.Everything works fine except one issue in a Manager Reports, Where we are using Date type InputField.
Code used:
<hbj:inputField
id="otherdate1"
type="DATE"
showHelp="TRUE"
size="10"
maxlength="10"
jsObjectNeeded="true"
disabled="TRUE"
>
<%
JSP-scriptlet-START----
otherPeriodFrom=myContext.getParamIdForComponent(otherdate1);
JSP-scriptlet-END----
%>
</hbj:inputField>
Javascript Error : Line : 3958 code: 2 Error: 'Undefined' is null or not an object
Above Error appears when the below option in IE is selected.And also, Error appears only when the user enters the date.Also, I cannot ask users to uncheck the settings in IE as most of the users doesn't have administrator access to their amchines
Error doesn't seem to appear when user selects the date from DataPicker component irrespective whether the below option in IE is selected or not.
IE Setting option :
Display a Notification about Every Script Error
I'm not able to find what could be the problem in EP 7.0 as it works perfectly in EP5.0.
Any ideas would be appreciated !!
Thanks,
JojoSent an OSS message to SAP.SAP found the problem and fixed the issue and will be available in NW2004s SPS9.

Portlet editor's rich text editor gives javascript error 'access denied'
I created a header portlet using the Publisher's published content portlet template. When I try to edit the portlet content using the rich text editor in the portlet editor window, I get a javascript error in the status bar stating 'access denied'. I can't even type into the rich text editor window, it's totally disabled. Not that I see anything in there anyway. I'm logged in as admin. I've gone into the publisher explorer admin portlet and even 'published' the portlet's content, but to no avail. When I try to 'add header portlet' in my experience definition and try to use this portlet, nothing shows up, where the header portlet should be is just collapsed so my banner is just the top bar view bumped right on top of the nav view. (p.s. does anyone know how to take the alui doc's suggestion of 'disabling the topbar view and nav view' so that I can construct what I want entirely in a header portlet? Anyway, first things first, how do I get that access denied message to disappear in my header portlet's rich text editor and how the heck do I get it show up? Help.
There's probably not a developer in the forum that doesn't uncheck that box the moment they rebuild their machine/ennvironment. Changing the format of error messaging is hardly a fix for the error itself. Personally, I'm uploading 'file content items' now. I create the content in notepad and then upload > file content item. Then create a portlet that uses the pre-existing (was installed w/ publisher using their pte) 'published content item' web service. Go into the portlet's settings and associate the portlet w/ the content item you uploaded. Voila.
As far as using their rich text editor to create new content, I personally have no need anymore. However I'm sure our content managers will probably have to soon so I hope our latest installation will accommodate them w/o error, because I've never been aware of an actual fix to this problem. -
Create Shopping Page gives Javascript Error - Sun JVM in a DMZ?
Hi SDN
We are running on SRM 5.0, with server at 5.5 and we have just implemented SP 11. Since then, our users running IE with the Sun JVM 1.4.2_10 are getting a JavaScript error everytime an applet loads on their page (in this case, it is the applet within the Document & Attachments section). Moreover, our portal is being hosted on an SSL secured server within our DMZ, in conjunction with a Provencia IDS System, Blue Coat hardarware, RadWare, ...etc.
The only way we can make that page work, is by disabling the Sun JVM and use the MS Version of the JVM. At that point, no issue with the applet on our SSL Secured Portal. Even funnier, is that when I'm calling directly the Portal Server (without the SSL proxy), even if i run the Sun JVM, I'm not getting the error. Since we have over 1000 users, it woulde be aimpossible to have all of them making that change... We need to make that work.
Have you ever experienced something like that? If yes, what have you done to fix it? Any suggestion, OSS notes
Thanks in advance

Interactive report javascript error: missing ) in parenthetical
Running on 11g, APEX 3.1.2.00.02:
I have several interactive reports that appear to the user to hang up when they try to sort by clicking a column header (the spinny circles never go away and the page doesn't do anything). Upon the column header click, Firebug reports a javascript error: "missing ) in parenthetical", which I now believe is related to this string:
<SCRIPT SRC="/oracle_smp_chronos/oracle_smp_chronos.js"></SCRIPT>
being appended to the results of an AJAX call the report makes to get refreshed data.
I believe the expected result data (JSON format?) is no longer valid with that string at the end.
We had to prevent that from happening when running our own onDemand service, but I don't know how to stop it in this case.
Has anyone seen, or solved, this one before? Can anyone tell me how to turn off that smp_chronos stuff to see if I'm right? It's for performance monitoring or some such, isn't it?
TIA,
AFCOur DBA tells me: there is a setting in the web cache called End-User Performance monitoring. it need to be disabled ( "Site-Specific End-User Performance Monitoring Rules")
This took care of the problem.
Thanks for listening.

Javascript error in uwc (reply, forward buttons)
Our users have reported an "annoying" repeatable error which occurs at least once per session using UWC web-client.
When they log in to UWC, read a message and click the buttons named Reply, Reply All, Forward, Forward Inline, an alert pops up:
"JavaScript Error
http://mail.domain.ru/uwc/webmail/en/mail.html?lang=en&laurel=on&cal=1, Line=384"
'null' is null or not an object"
When they click the button for a second time and afterwards, the requested action (Forward, etc.) works correctly. If the user logs off and logs in again, the first subsequent click triggers the error.
I have seen this in MS Internet Explorer 6.0 SP2 on several computers, both with original English Windows and localized version.
I couldn't reproduce the error with MSIE 6.0 SP1 or Firefox browsers.

1. From Internet Explorer 6, Click "Tools".
2. Select "Pop-Up Blocker".
3. Select "Turn off Pop-up Blocker".

However this didn't allow the pop-up to occur, it just stopped the javascript error.

Javascript Error when typing.
ok trying to start a new question. Hope I am in the right place... I was able to download and install an older version - Moz FF 26; however, with practically each keystroke I get these 2 error msgs: " [JavaScript Application] ! initXPCOM TypeError: compClass is underfined" AND ""onLoad TypeError: can't access dead object" It keeps happening - so much so that I will go back to Google Chrome until I find a fix. To recap, I had a real problem with what I thot was a msg from Mozilla to update; I finally uninstalled my Moz browser; then I ran into several warnings and error msgs, then I gave up for awhile. I was avoiding various links that were not direct from Mozilla; then I went to Mozilla support; I was warned NOT to install an older version, but nothing was working, so I tried that and was able to download & install Mozilla 26. Yet I keep getting that [JavaScript] error ?????
I tried several links offered in the forum.Please check for a rogue extension. I recommend you disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Does that help?
Note: If there are extensions that do not have a Remove button, typically the uninstaller will be in the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. If you click the "Installed on" column heading the most recent additions should come to the top where you can identify what kinds of bundled baddies might have snuck on board along with something you actually wanted. -
IE Javascript Error when Creating-Posting SC - JDK/JVM issue in SSL mode?!?
Hi SDN
We are running on SRM 5.0, with server at 5.5 and we have just implemented SP 11. Since then, our users running IE with the Sun JVM 1.4.2_10 are getting a JavaScript error everytime an applet loads (EPCF) on their page (in this case, it is the applet within the Document & Attachments section). Moreover, our portal is being hosted on an SSL secured server within our DMZ, in conjunction with a Provencia IDS System, Blue Coat hardarware, RadWare, ...etc.
The only way we can make that page work, is by disabling the Sun JVM (1.4.2.10) and use the MS Version of the Java Virtual Machine within IE. JavaScript Error Unsupported browser!
Since the Safri update a few days ago, a handful of webpages produce a "javaScript error Unsupported browser!" error message. The message appears 4 seperate times with the option to hit OK. The message has appeared on YouTube as well as on this Support page.
I have run a Software update severla times since the upgrade (as well as after my Mountain Lion uprage). This has not addressed the problem.
Any ideas on a fix?

I can't close a window unless I shut down the computer. I get a javascript error box.
Two windows have jammed. Every time I go to close them, they throw up a long dialogue box saying "Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page?" next to a blue question mark.
Underneath that it says " JavaScript Error!"
"Press ESC to close this alert!"
When I escape, the windows are still there and I can't close them.
I've tried uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling and they are still there.
Is this just a glitch or am I infected?
I prefer to keep version 3.6.3 because I use Realplayer Browser Record Plugin and later versions don't seem to accept it.
