Javascript in HTMLDB 1.6

Regarding
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/howtos/htmldb_javascript_howto2.html
Does HTMLDB 1.6 do any of the things used as examples in that HOWTO out-of-the-box or do we still need to use Javascript? For example, changing value of form elements, enabling/disabling form elements depending on values of other form elements, etc.
Thanks

Still have to use JavaScript for the most part. On the positive note, our team has made a huge move into DHTML throughout the next version and have come up with some pretty cool stuff. This is slowly trickling down to Tips and Tricks and How-Tos for now, so keep checking OTN and the HTML DB Studio.

  • 508 Compliance and HTMLDB

    Hello. I am looking for a statement from Oracle saying that HTMLDB is 508 compliant. I understand that the developers use of JavaScript within HTMLDB can be non-compliant but Oracle reps tell me that HTMLDB is in and of itself 508 compliant. Does anybody have a link or know where such a statement from Oracle would be? Thank you.

    Hello,
    To Scott? Scotts not on this thread though I'm sure he's read it :).
    The issue with 508 compliance is how to make an application compliant changes from application to application.
    You have to do things like skip repeating navigation,provide alternative navigation,provides specific alternative text for images things like that. Provide specific summary information for reports and tables.
    Since in HTML DB we allow you to do pretty much anything if we tried to hardcode this information into templates/themes it could actually make the problem worse. That being said we have already done things like make sure that all images have alt="" tags and that all tables if used for layout have empty summary tags and that report templates have proper heading to column information.
    In the end getting an application 508 compliant is the end developers job as it needs to fit within the application they are building.
    There is an Accessibility section to the wiki now http://wiki.shellprompt.net/bin/view/HTMLDB/AccessibilityCategory and I will add too it some common solutions to fixing up an application.
    Thanks,
    Carl

  • Delete row in report........

    i have report, i have to delete row without page loading. i have wrote the application process(on demand). but i dont know how to write the javascript for htmldb items...
    my req is when i click the delete button the checked row(using check box) should delete without page load. i use ajax to call the javascript to process the plsql code.
    can any one pls help me to modify the below javascript coding....
    application process
    begin
    for i in 1..htmldb_application.g_f01.count
    loop
      delete from service
      where service_code = htmldb_application.g_f02(htmldb_application.g_f01(i));
    end loop;
    end;
    javascript
    function get_repd(){
    var get = new htmldb_Get(null,html_GetElement('pFlowId').value,'APPLICATION_PROCESS=REP_D',0);
    }thanks and regard.
    skud.

    Hi Skud,
    I will have to say your observation is incorrect. The whole purpose of doing the DML via Application Process using ajax technique is to avoid a page refresh, otherwise it would simply be a page level after submit process.
    I have just tested and its working as expected, i.e
    1. You select one or more records
    2. Use the delete button to delete
    3. Records get deleted from DB, you get a message
    4. Only the report region get refreshed. (However this could delay for a few seconds if the dataset is larger and server is very busy)
    If you are however using APEX 4.x you could use dynamic actions to get it done. My work environment is still on 3.x so my solution is using classic method.
    If you are still having issue could you please let me know which browser you are using?
    Cheers

  • Checkbox: Mark All, Clear All

    I´ve got a basic problem, how to incorporate Javascript to htmldb. Stop! I´ve already read the How-To to this topic, but it doesn´t help in my case. I´ve got the HTML Code to Mark All and Clear All Checkboxes at the end of my text. My question: Where exactly and in which form must I input the several HTML Codes to start my function?
    E.g. I think, the different function´s in my code should be placed in the Page Attribute Header Field. Should I create several CheckboxID´s foe each Checkbox or does it suffice to create only one CheckboxID with different Checkboxaccounts?
    <html>
    <head>
    <script>
    <!-- Begin
    var checkflag = "false";
    function check(field)
    var i;
    if (eval(field[0].checked))
    for (i=0;i<field.length;i++)
    field.checked=true;
    LL(field);
    return "Uncheck All";
    else
    for(i=0;i<field.length;i++)
    field[i].checked=false;
    UU(field);
    return "Check All";
    function LL(field){field.disabled=true;}
    function UU(field){field.disabled=false;}
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    <FORM method=post name=f1>
    <table>
    <tr><td>
    <INPUT type=checkbox name=list value="Check All"
    onClick="this.value=check(this.form.list);">All<br>
    <INPUT type=checkbox name=list value="2">Air<br>
    <INPUT type=checkbox name=list value="3">Monitoring<br>
    <INPUT type=checkbox name=list value="4">Water<br>
    <INPUT type=checkbox name=list value="5">Pollution Prevention<br>
    </table>
    <INPUT class=lightbluecell style="FONT-FAMILY: verdana, arial, helvetica;
    FONT-SIZE: 10px" type=reset value=Clear>
    </FORM>
    </body>
    </html>
    I´d be pleased to get a step for step help, because I´m not adepted in this topic.
    Thank you very much!

    Yep,
    Same issue mentioned in this other thread that was started by one of the site administrators:
    Update on site issues
    It seems to effect some people to a greater degree than others.
    (For example, I'm only afflicted by a single solitary lingering one in my Communications page.)

  • Javascript not working in htmldb

    Hi,
    I am using HTMLDB Release 2.
    The time I put some java script in page html header section and click on apply changes, it redirects me to wwv_flow.accept page can't be displayed.
    Please let me know how to correct this as I want to use javascript in my page.
    even the most simple script is not working
    ==============================
    <script type="text/javascript">
              <!--
    alert('hello');
    // -->
              </script>
    ==============================

    JavaScript is an event driven language; simply putting code on the page does not mean that it will be executed. You will need to have something call your code for it to run.
    In order to do that, you will need to use the proper syntax for a JavaScript function. Your code should read:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    function jsDemo()
    alert('hello');
    // -->
    </script>Now, you can call the JavaScript function jsDemo() from a button, for example. Simply create a button, and set it to redirect to a URL. For thre URL, enter this:
    onclick="jsDemo()";There are many more ways to incorporate JavaScript into your applications - have a look on the APEX home page or this forum for some more examples.
    Thanks,

  • Javascript Open and Close window

    I am creating a new website and am having problems getting
    the open window and close window to work. I want this window to
    open a new window (NOT a popup window used with the "onload"
    option). I am using an img tag so that when you click on the image
    thumbnail this new window opens. It is my understanding in order to
    use the window.close option, you must have the javascript in the
    header of the html document for the close to work. In the heading
    of the document that contains the link to open a new window I have
    the following:
    <SCRIPT language="JavaScript1.2">
    function popuponclick()
    Cellex = window.open("products/cellex.htm",
    "console","status=1,width=350,height=150");
    function closepopup()
    if(false == cellex.closed)
    cellex.close ();
    else
    alert('Window already closed!');
    </SCRIPT>
    Then I have this in the body:
    <img src="images/thumbnails/dermalogicath.jpg"
    alt="Dermalogica" width="94" height="84" border="0"
    /></a></td>
    <td><a href="products/mdskin.htm"
    onclick="window.open('products/mdskin.htm','mdskin',width=610,height=780,scrollbars=yes') ;return
    false; target="_blank">
    However, I'm getting script errors when opening the window on
    the lines in the body Unterminated error. I have tried using the
    help in Dreamweaver as well as many docs posted, but still cannot
    get this to work. Once I get the script errors resolved, the when
    the window opens, it will not close. I get the message that a
    window is trying to be closed and do I want to close the window
    which closes internet explorer entirely. I'm using IE 7.0 as well
    as foxfire and have the same issue on both. If I use the
    dreamweaver behaviors to call a javascript, it puts "onload" and if
    I change to "onclick" then the script will not work. When I use the
    behavior "open window" it still doesn't work. I'm totally lost as
    to what I'm doing wrong as I have followed about 10 papers all
    using the same instructions.
    Hopefully some one can help me, I'm getting fustrated as this
    seems to be pretty straight forward.
    Thanks, vienie

    Try this on for size:
    I have included two functions.
    windowRebuild() - opens a new window, maximizes it based on the screen size, removes all toolbars, and then closes the old window.
    myLocation(appName, pageName) - builds a url referencing an HTMLDB application, specfic to what server you are currently on. Very useful when you have an application on 3 different servers(dev, test, prod servers), you wouldn't want the server name hardcoded if you plan to export the app to another server.
    Also, you need to be careful when using &APP_ID. I am not completely certain how that is resolved at runtime, but I've found it only works when the javascript is in the HTML Header of a page and not stored in the template of the page.

  • HTML-DB OAE Javascript to close current window and open a new window

    Hi everybody,
    We work with 1.6.
    What we want is to close the current window and open a new window with the URL mentionned in the window.open('http://www.cf.qc/pls/portal/PORTAL.....,'newwindow').
    The new window opening fires only once although we call it many times.
    Our javascript is:
    function closeTest()
    { alert('closeTest');
    if('&REQUEST.'=='QUITTER2'){
    w = window.self;
    w.opener = w;
    w.close();
    window.open('http://www.cf.qc/pls/portal/PORTAL.home','newwindow','toolbar=yes,location=yes,directories=yes,status=yes,menubar=yes,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes');
    We call it on our application attributes :
    OnLoad="closeTest()"
    Thanks. Bye.

  • Open the xml file in a new tab with javascript??

    Hello all,
    I have given Denes Kubicek example on Export to xml files straight from Reports http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:118:651492651950833::NO .
    I am glad to say that with a few changes it also works on Interactive reports.
    However i am trying to implement something different.
    I wish to have the same feature but within an ajax request, i don't want to submit the page.
    I already know how to fill in all the variables required.
    the only problem is on how to return the file to download.
    In your method as soon as the page submits you present the file to download.
    I want to be able to do that but after an ajax request and not after a submit.
    I am quite sure the problem is about http/header mime types.
    I can return the whole xml into the javascript. I can even see it in an alert() or in the page with document.write(); but i haven't found a way on how to make it as a file download automatically.
    Can anyone tell me how to solve this??
    Regards Pedro.

  • Export to excel with javascript/vbscript or with plsql(html table)

    i have searched for a way to export data from OracleXe to excel without losing formatting .
    So far i have found 2 possible relatively easy ways that i am still researching
    (i do not include the ask tom sylk format way of exporting )
    1 to export the query to a html table, while using stylesheets for formatting
    (using microsoft specific styles)
    2. use of javascript/vbscript to fill an array and write this array to excel with use
    of visual basic for applications in excel.This also provides charting capabilities.
    I am still researching this two ways, and have
    encountered a few obstacles (help would be appreciated)
    1 the first way:
    a. create a button " export to excel"
    b. create the following pl/sql procedure:
    owa_util.mime_header('application/vnd.ms-excel');
    owa_util.http_header_close;
      HTP.PRINT('<html>');
      HTP.PRINT('<head>');
      HTP.PRINT('<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html">');
      HTP.PRINT('<title>Title of the HTML File</title>');
      HTP.PRINT('</head>');
      HTP.PRINT('<body TEXT="#000000" BGCOLOR="#FFFFFF">');
      HTP.PRINT('<h1>Heading in the HTML File</h1>');
      HTP.PRINT('<p>Some text in the HTML file.');
      HTP.PRINT('</body>');
      HTP.PRINT('</html>');
    htmldb_application.g_page_text_generated := true;
    htmldb_application.g_unrecoverable_error := true;
    c: run the procedure conditionally based on the button  "export to excel"
    the problem with this way is that using htmldb_application.g_unrecoverable_error := true; is not the ideal way, because it
    stops further processing, but if i leave it out, the export doesn't happen.
    To export to excel while retaining data formatting  you have to use microsoft excel
    specific styles(Seedocumentation on the microsoft site)
    2.The second way:
    a create a pl/sql procedure or sql query.
    b use this query to fill a vbscript/javascript array with values
    c write these values to excel with use of vba in excel :
    the obstacle i encountered here was that i dont know how to export the result of a
    query to a visual basic script or javascript array.

    Using approach 1) works fine for me.
    the problem with this way is that using htmldb_application.g_unrecoverable_error := true;
    is not the ideal way, because it
    stops further processing, but if i leave it out, the export doesn't happen. Why is this a problem?
    I created the button to export the excel file on page 1 and created your pl/sql procedure on page 2 using an onload process.
    Works fine.
    Other approaches for exporting to excel are:

  • Passing sql report query field value to hidden item in javascript

    I have sql report which has in each row one html button. Let us say that query SHOULD look like (two columns, to be easy to get the point):
    select 1 SECURITY_ID
      , '<input type="BUTTON" value="Top10" onClick="javascript:Top10Click ('||SECURITY_ID||');" >' BTN
    FROM DUAL;
    function Top10Click (vValue) {
      html_GetElement('P31_PROCESS_VALUE').value = vValue;
      doSubmit('GO_BACK');
    } <br><br>
    where P31_PROCESS_VALUE is hidden item where i want to store value of row where click happened.
    <br><br>
    In every button i want to pass row value "SECURITY_ID" to Top10Click function for each row differently.
    <br><br>
    Problem is that when I place double qoute then js is not working, else js is ok but "SECURITY_ID" is passed as constant not as live SQL value.
    <br><br>
    Any help...THX!
    <br>
    Demo is on oracle:
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=26216:1
    Workspace entry:
    WK: FUNKY
    UN: [email protected]
    PW: qwertz

    I have tried to unify the solution, so it looks like:
    select 1 SECURITY_ID
      , '<input type="BUTTON" value="Top10" onClick="javascript:Top10Click ('||'&quot_X;'||SECURITY_ID||'&quot_X;'||');"  >' BTN
    FROM DUAL;change '&quot_X;' (remove "_X" part ... so it can be seen in HTML properly!
    THX Denes for great ideas...

  • Apex 3.2 hook javascripts to IR and execute those when report is refreshed

    Hi,
    You propably have see tricks to attache javascript to IR refresh using time out and gReport.l_LastFunction e.g. these.
    http://roelhartman.blogspot.com/2010/04/alternative-to-alternating-row-colors.html
    http://www.talkapex.com/2009/03/column-groups-in-apex-interactive.html
    Here is alternative solution:
    You need load jQuery 1.4.2 e.g. in page template header
    Create page zero if your application do not have one. Then create HTML region before footer with no template.
    Place code to region source
    <script type="text/javascript">
    ;(function($){
    $.htmldbIrBusyGrap=$.fn.htmldbIrBusyGrap=function(){
    /* for bind IR ajax */
    /* check do we have IR on page */
    if($('#apexir_WORKSHEET_REGION').length>0){
      /* replace apex internal function _BusyGraphic */
      gReport._BusyGraphic=function(pState){
       if(pState==1){
        /* ir ajax start trigger htmldbIrAjaxStart event and show loading icon */
        $.event.trigger('htmldbIrAjaxStart');
        $('#apexir_LOADER').show();
       }else{
        /* check is there data stored to #apexir_WORKSHEET */
        if(!$('#apexir_WORKSHEET').data('htmldb')){
          /* store data to #apexir_WORKSHEET */
          $('#apexir_WORKSHEET').data('htmldb',{irReady:true});
          /* trigger htmldbIrReady event */
          $.event.trigger('htmldbIrReady');
         /* hide loading icon and trigger htmldbIrAjaxEnd*/
         $('#apexir_LOADER').hide();
        $.event.trigger('htmldbIrAjaxEnd');
       return;
      $.event.trigger('htmldbIrReady');
    $.htmldbIrReady=$.fn.htmldbIrReady=function(fn){
    $(function(){
      if($.isFunction(fn)&&$('#apexir_WORKSHEET_REGION').length>0){
       $('#apexir_WORKSHEET_REGION').bind('htmldbIrReady',fn);
    })(jQuery);
    addLoadEvent(function(){$.htmldbIrBusyGrap();});
    </script>Now your IR will trigger htmldbIrReady event when report is refreshed.
    Usage example
    <script>
    $(function(){$('#foo').bind('htmldbIrReady',function(){alert('Hello');});});
    </script>Also it trigger htmldbIrAjaxStart and htmldbIrAjaxEnd events.
    Usage example
    <script>
    $(function(){$('#foo').bind('htmldbIrAjaxStart',function(){alert('Ajax start');});});
    $(function(){$('#foo').bind('htmldbIrAjaxEnd',function(){alert('Ajax end');});});
    </script>Or use function $.htmldbIrReady example
    <script>
    $(function(){$.htmldbIrReady(function(){alert('Hello');});});
    </script>Small demo that logs those events here
    http://actionet.homelinux.net/htmldb/f?p=100:87
    Hope this helps and you post other innovative solutions or usage examples about this

  • Javascript Moving Focus - Vikas Example

    I am trying a variation on an example posted by vikas (keep up the good work by the way excellent examples, cheers !)
    see http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=24317:255:778434680004999
    i have used some of the code in the example but it just doesn't like the line
    var nextinput=TD.nextSibling.getElementsByTagName('input')[0];
    I have put an alert in after the line which returns nothing
    if i put an alert in for the variable TD i get [HTMLTableCellElement]
    basically when a user clicks onto the field it gives them an error message then moves the focus to the next field ....or should do !!
    full function below
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function Check(pArea)
    if(pArea.value.length>3) {
    alert("Cannot Update Key Fields");
    var TD=pArea.parentNode;
    var nextinput=TD.nextSibling.getElementsByTagName('input')[0];
    alert(nextinput);
    var lEl = html_GetElement(PArea);
    lEl.focus();
    </script>
    Any help greatly appreciated
    cheers
    Chris

    the DOM has the 'onfocus' event listener

  • JavaScript help Including JavaScript in a .js File Referenced by the Page

    I need help with JavaScript. I have been doing the Advanced Tutorial, and still don't feel that understand how to make it work.
    The example in "Oracle Database Application Express User's Guide" shows this line:
    <script src="http://myserver.myport/my_images/custom.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    I understand that "my_images" is hypothetical, but where is the real equivalent to this?
    Is there a working example/tutorial of Including JavaScript?
    <li />Also how does one create AJAX functionality?
    If I want to do something like this http://www.w3schools.com/ajax/ajax_server.asp
    in APEX, where do I place the "time.asp" script?
    <li />Can we assume that the HTML and ASP file are in the same directory?
    Please any assistance with these topics are greatly appreciated.

    Hello,
    >> what is the directory structure you would use for /my_images/custom.js? Where does one load these .js files? where is it in the local machine?
    C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db\Apache ?
    The documentation only gives you a possible example (and I might agree that it’s not the best one). You should put your external JS files (on the server OS file system) wherever it will be most accessible and maintainable for you. The best place, IMHO, is under the /images/javascript/ directory. The reason is very simple. You can use the alias /i/, which defined in your DAD file, to gain a very simple path to the file. In this case, the loading statement will look similar to the following:
    <script src="/i/javascript/custom.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    >> Do you mean "Oracle Database PL/SQL Packages/Types and htp packages?"
    I’m assuming you are talking about the on-demand process. This is a regular PL/SQL anonymous block, which will be fired only upon specific request - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10513_01/doc/appdev.310/e10499/bldr.htm#BABEAIIE . This is the mechanism for handling the server side of AJAX.
    >>Anythig else available for us to levarage?
    Denes examples site can also be a valuable resource - http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:1 .

  • Javascript-function doesn't work with user nobody

    I recently started to use AJAX with APEX. I defined a Application Process and a Javascript-Function which fetch values from a Lookup-Table into some fields, which works great. Except when I make the page available public (user nobody), then it doesn't work anymore.

    Hello,
    Do you have page 0 (zero) in your application? If you are using page 0 as a parameter in your htmldb_Get function, the page must be public (http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:63).
