JavaScript not enabled?

I am not a tech moron, but I have totally hit a wall with this (hopefully) small browsing problem.
Every site that requires Java ceases to access the script. Therefore, I have no access to these sites.
I have tried to reinstall the Java console, finagled the browser settings (the Javascript is enabled and I even turned off the firewall at points) , and tried IE, Mozilla, and Netscape -- all with the same problem.
Again, everything else with the computer is fine. My connection is lightning fast, I have no spyware, etc. This slight little fault (no java allowed) is driving me crazy. What strikes me as odd is that the very first time I ran an anti-spyware program, the problem was fixed. Quickly, though, even after all spyware had been removed, the problem persisted.
Does anyone have any suggestions?? I would absolutely dread re-installing the entire hard drive, and I doubt it would require something so drastic.
As this is a work computer and time is of the essence, please conact me at [email protected] Thanks so much in advance.

Sorry I don't have a solution but I have the same exact problem. I am considering contacting microsoft to see if Windows SP2 is the issue. If you find a solution please contact me, [email protected] I would greatly appreciate it, this problem is really bothering and stopping from trading.

    By any chance, have you installed the NoScript add-on? You would notice its icon on the Status Bar.
    If this only affects one or a few particular sites, that could be a clue.

    Wow, you give others 9 hours to help you. Great. How about searching this forum for the word "JavaScript"? The search box is on the top right in your window. You would find the answer within a few seconds...

    I just had a similar problem and it reminded me of trying to install a logitech wireless mouse a while back. Nothing I could do to make it recognize the driver... until I ran across a website that told me that antivirus and firewalls might prevent it. So... AVG Free just updated itself earlier today... FF4 would only startup once after reboot, then start and show in task mgr but no window(s)... Uninstalled AVG new version. FF4 starts up every time. • Javascript not enabled; but it shows it is

    running: Windows XP, firefox 30.0, java version 7 update 60 (build1.7.0_60-b19)
    I get this message: This content requires JavaScript to be enabled.
    Turn your browser JavaScript settings on.
    When I go to about:config and search - JavaScript is showing enabled. Any ideas? (Besides updating WIndows? I'm working on that...)

    My guess is that making Flash visible will resolve the script error.
    Adobe has two installers, one for IE (ActiveX control) and one for other browsers (Netscape-style plugin). Could you verify that you have the plugin used by Firefox? On 32-bit Windows XP, this should be stored in the following folder:
    C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
    There usually are several files, but the one used by Firefox will have a name that fits this pattern:
    '''NPSWF32'''_14_0_0_125'''.dll'''
    If that's not there, the installer may not have run to completion, or Adobe's site might have given you the ActiveX installer instead of the plugin installer.
    Assuming that DLL is there, Firefox will find the plugin using a key in the Windows registry created by Adobe's installer.
    By default, Firefox scans the registry at startup. However, this can be disabled. To make sure your Firefox is still scanning, you can double-check this setting:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''scan''' and pause while the list is filtered.
    (3) Make sure '''plugin.scan.plid.all''' preference is set to its default value of true, or double-click it to switch it from false to true.
    If the DLL is there and Firefox is checking the registry, the problem may be that Firefox's plugin data file has become corrupted. To address that:
    From inside Firefox, open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
    * Help menu > Troubleshooting Information
    In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button
    Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit, either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "power" button
    * File menu > Exit
    Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename '''pluginreg.dat''' to something like pluginreg.bad
    Start Firefox back up again and Firefox should rebuild the file with a fresh registry scan.

    Not sure why this is an issue. Have run PC clean up, made sure to run everything by book. Download goes through to very last and then says Javascripts not enabled/working. I have already double checked settings. Javascripts IS selected to run, so where do you think my issue is?

  • Javascript is not enabled according to a number of apps, including synch.

    I am informed by a number of apps (including FireFox Synch) that JavaScript is not enabled. I am running FireFox 33.0 on an ASUS tablet running Windows 8.1. I have re-downloaded and un/re-installed FireFox a number of times. These apps have run on other windows machines with no issues.

    Interesting, when I go to the browser console, I get:
    ReferenceError: chapters is not defined HTML.js:6
    ReferenceError: version is not defined eASLRB.htm:71
    The character encoding of the HTML document was not declared. The document will render with garbled text in some browser configurations if the document contains characters from outside the US-ASCII range. The character encoding of the page must be declared in the document or in the transfer protocol. eASLRB.htm
    The files eASLRB.htm, HTML.js, are in the folder in question. Never seen this before, but it sounds like a non-trivial error. Possibly a corruption of some sort when I copied from DropBox?
    It looks like all the scripts being invoked are in a subfolder of the program folder nameded Scripts

  • My JavaScript already Enabled but my bank site shows me java script disabled and am not able to transfer my fund online

    I have alrady enabled java script but my bank website prompt me that java script disabled so for thesame am not able to pay or transfer my funds online.

    Java and JavaScript are not the same thing. To ensure the JavaScript is enabled, go to the Options dialog and select the Content panel and make sure that "Enable JavaScript" is selected. There are add-ons that can block JavaScript, if you have an add-on such as NoScript, make sure that it has not blocked your bank site.
    If you are still having problems, try running Firefox in [[safe mode|Firefox safe mode]], this will disable add-ons and can be used to see if an ad-on is causing the problem. If it works in safe mode, follow the procedure in the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article to identify which one is doing this.

  • Javascript not working in Adobe Reader

    Hi,
    I have given the following javascript code in the "Will Save" Document Action. But this code does not execute in Adobe Reader, it works fine in Acrobat Standard/Pro. Why this code does not execute in Reader?
    app.alert("Hi");
    if(app.viewerVersion<8){
    app.alert("Exit");
    this.closeDoc(true);
    Cheers,
    Vinay

    Yes the javascript is enabled.
    The alert comes up in Acrobat Pro when I use the 'Save' or 'Save a Copy option'.  When I use the 'Save a Copy' option in Adobe reader, the alert does not come up.
    Cheers,
    Vinay

  • Javascript not working in Firefox on Mac OS 10.9.2

    I am trying to learn Javascript from a tutorial. I'm using Text edit to create a simple .html file that calls a .js file using the script command. The .html file opens normally in the default browser and can print a message to a simple page. It looks like a window tries to open the .js file but it vanishes before opening. I have checked that Javascript is enabled in Firefox. Opening Firefox in Safe mode does not fix the problem. It also fails to execute the .js file in Safari and Chrome.
    This problem happens on three Macs, all running Mavericks 10.9.2. When I try this on a Windows PC the .js file executes as expected.
    I've tried everything I can think of including turning off the Firewall in Security Settings. It seems like it has to be something system-wide since it happens in all three browsers. Has Apple implemented some type of blocking of Javascript in Mavericks? Any suggestions for why this is not working on my Macs and what I can do to fix it would be greatly appreciated!

    Cor-el: Thank you for noticing that! Turning off smart quotes in Textedit which I am using to create the scripts solved the problem. Everything working as expected now. I hope others using Mac OS 10.9.2 will benefit from this as well.

  • Capturing form values with javascript (not working in Safari!)

    Hi
    I'm working on a site and I need to be able to take the values of one form (that the user has entered) and use them to populate a second form (more details) in the appropriate input boxes. This works on all browser except Safari. It seems to me a javascript problem (as getElementById does not work properly) but I'm not entirely sure. The code I use to grab the form elements is as follows:
    obj = $('formslider".$this->id."');
    obj.getElementById('registerfirstname".$this->id."').value = callbackfirstname".$this->id.";
    obj.getElementById('registersurname".$this->id."').value = callbacksurname".$this->id.";
    obj.getElementById('registeremail_addr".$this->id."').value = callbackemail".$this->id.";
    obj.getElementById('registertelephone".$this->id."').value = callbacktelephone".$this->id.";
    obj.getElementById('registerrequest_type".$this->id."').value = requesttype_callback".$this->id.";
    This basically takes the values of the "callback" form and places them into the appropriate input boxes of the "register" form. However it seems to lose the values when moving to the next form. Please note, I am not refreshing - I am using Ajax to change the form so new content simply replaces an existing content, not transfering to another page. I use Sessions so it shouldn't forget the values.
    Can anyone help? It's quite an important thing as I need to migrate hidden form inputs too which are needed for this particular request system.
    Thanks
    Michael

    I'm seeing this same issue in Mavericks, 10.9.2.  Althought JavaScript is enabled in Safari, it just doesn't work, for any pages.
    I've tried different user accounts, including a new account, on the same machine, but they all do the same thing, so it's a machine-wide issue.
    I have plenty of other Mavericks machines, including my own, where it is working just fine, however, with the same settings.

  • MenuActions not enabling in InDesign CS5.5

    Hi Scripters,
    InDesign CS4/CS5 is able to invoke menuActions using the below mentioned javascript code.
    var myMenuAction = app.menuActions.item("$ID/Go to Item");
    try {
        myMenuAction.invoke();
        }catch (err){exit();};
    However when I use the same code in InDesign CS5.5 version, we are encountering  "Action not enabled" error.
    Note: Please select the required XML element from the Structure Panel before running this code.
    Thanks & Regards
    csm_phil

    A related issue, perhaps.  I am trying to toggle Menu options via script, to set a user environment.  To make sure that Window->Tools is checked, this always works:
    try {
         var myTools = app.menuActions.item("Tools").checked;
         catch (e) {}
    if (myTools ==false) {
        try {
         app.menuActions.item("Tools").invoke();
         catch (e) {}
    But I also want to toggle things that lack a checkmark, such as Hide Hidden Characters.
    This returns different results depending on whether a document is open, and sometimes does not toggle the selection (Show/Hide) and returns different values for the .checked call.
    try {
         var myHidden = app.menuActions.item("Hide Hidden Characters").checked;
         catch (e) {alert("Error"); }
      if (myHidden ==false ) {
         try {
          app.menuActions.item("Hide Hidden Characters").invoke();
         catch(e) {}
    Sometimes this returns false, sometimes undefined.  I have done many iterations, also looking for ("Show Hidden Characters").checked
    The original code was written for InCopy.  Any menu item that is truly checked is easily controlled.  The ones that toggle Show/Hide are a mess in both InCopy and InDesign.
    Am I using the wrong syntax?

  • MS-Silverlight does not work. Error says my isolated storage is not enabled.

    Silverlight says that my application storage is not enabled. When I right click on Silverlight. I can see that it is enabled, but it still doesn't work. Can anybody help me?

    Sorry I only just noticed your post and of course completely forgot the thread.
    The problem with a silverlight global error handler is you're probably trying to show an error and sillveright has chocked.  So I had second thoughts about that and put the "usual" javascript handling into the test page.
    Internet explorer is no longer good friends with Silverlight.
    If you try that test site on the wiki page:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/30387.silverlight-trouble-shooting-installs.aspx
    And you get an error you get a blank page and ie11 won't show the error .
    You can, however go into developer options using f12 and an error will be shown there.  I
    think in the debgugger tab.
    Assuming one is actually bubbled.
    In my experience, Silverlight errors are often quite tricky to get much from but maybe you'll be lucky.
    Hope that helps.

    Ensure you have javascript enabled
    * when you post in this forum do you see the formatting icons above where you type your message: ['''B'''] & [''i''] (The icons will not be seen with javascript disabled, or totally blocked)
    * use '''Firefox Button -> Options -> | Content | -> [] Enable javascript ''' (check / tick the box)
