JavaScript Show Hide Items (Shuttle) (Denes Kubicek)

Hello
I was looking at a great example from Denes Kubicek on this link (http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:129:495210338999346::NO:::) Guest Apex_demo and have managed to get it to work.
However, I would like to show/hide a shuttle item. Any ideas how I could achieve this? It only seems to hide the selected values part of the shuttle and not the buttons/LOV.
Thank you in advance

Hello,
In case of a shuttle item you need to use a label with ID, and use that ID as the parameter to the $x_HideItemRow() or $x_ShowItemRow().
The following post describe how to create a proper template for that purpose: Re: Hide and show item as per the value of select list .

Arie.

  • Show/hide item not working

    Hi,
    I've designed a relatively detailed survey with multiple show/hide items, and all of a sudden they're not working despite all of the show/hide criteria being correct. Items are being shown for no reason.
    Can someone help me?
    Thanks.

    After looking at the form I have concluded that the show/hide logic is inverted.  You have fields set to be hidden if the answer to a drop down is  not 0%. The problem is that the default value of the field is null, not 0%.  The condition is met, so the fields are displayed.  The fix is to switch the show/hide logic to Show is the answer is 5%, 10%, 15% etc.

  • Show/hide items in list component possible?

    Hi all,
    I'm quite a newbie in Flash, and more so in components.
    Currently, I'm working on a project that works in this way:
    I've got a combo box with 5 items, and a list with 10 items. The
    combo box works like a filter and when selected on an item, the
    list should only show items pertaining to the selection. For eg, my
    5 items in the combo box are the alphabets A,B,C,D,E. My 50 items
    in the list are some country names. So when "C" in the combo box is
    selected, the list should display countries starting with C, like
    Canada, China, and so on..
    Let's say my indexes for C in the list are 10-15, is it
    possible to hide items with index 0-9, and 16-49? I tried searching
    but it seems there isn't a show/hide function for list
    components.

    that when a combo box selection is made, its change function clears
    the list and then rewrites it based on matching the combo box label
    to the first character of each array element.

  • Javascript To Hide/Show Complete LOV Item On Page

    Hi All,
    I am trying to show/hide a page item which is a LOV page item type. I was using the $f_Hide_On_Value_Item which does not hide LOV image. What should I use to accomplish this ? It has to implemented in Javascript. Any help appreciated ...
    Tom

    Hello Tom,
    >> Are there other options ???
    There are usually other options :)
    Scorpio idea is a good start, although I‘m not sure his code cover the label of the LOV item. I think for that you should go one level up in the DOM. Using the ID suggestion he gave you, try using the following line:
    $x('popUp').parentNode.style.display = 'none';That should hide the entire ‘tr’ the LOV item is on.
    Hope this helps,
    Arie.

    Ade,
    Carl Backstrom has a great sample site with examples of what I believe you are trying to accomplish:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:5:661046971170606::NO:RP::
    From either the menu or the index, select Javascript and then "Show/Hide/Toggle Form Items".
    Hope you don't mind the plug Carl.

  • Show or Hide Items based on radio value

    I am trying to show and hide various Items based on the values of a radio button item. I have see the code and examples like
    function Show_On_Radio_Value(pThis, pThat, pValue){
    var rv = html_RadioValue(pThis);
    if (rv == pValue) {
    html_ShowItemRow(pThat);
    } else {
    html_HideItemRow(pThat);
    The problem I am having is that I have 3 different values of the radio item and I want to display certain items based on each different value.
    For example:
    radio_value = 'Yes'
    Show Item1, Item3, Item4
    or
    radio_value = 'No'
    Show Item2, Item5, Item6
    or
    radio_value = 'Maybe'
    Show Item1, Item2, Item4
    I am fairly new to this so it might be easy, I just don't know how.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Arie,
    Thanks for the reply. I have tried it using the Show_On_Radio_Value function but I still can't get it to do exactly what I want. I have a working version here http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=25290 ,
    The code I used for this demo app is:
    [script language="JavaScript1.1" type="text/javascript"]
    <!-- Hide
    function Show_On_Radio_Value(pThis, pThat, pValue){
    var rv = html_RadioValue(pThis);
    if (rv == pValue) {
    html_ShowItemRow(pThat);
    } else {
    html_HideItemRow(pThat);
    function Hide_On_Radio_Value(pThis, pThat, pValue){
    var rv = html_RadioValue(pThis);
    if (rv == pValue) {
    html_HideItemRow(pThat);
    } else {
    html_ShowItemRow(pThat);
    // End Hide -->
    [script]
    In the HTML Form Element Attribute for the radio button:
    onchange="Show_On_Radio_Value('P1_RADIO','P1_TEXTAREA','Maybe');
    Hide_On_Radio_Value('P1_RADIO','P1_TEXTFIELD1','Maybe');
    Hide_On_Radio_Value('P1_RADIO','P1_TEXTFIELD2','Maybe');
    Hide_On_Radio_Value('P1_RADIO','P1_TEXTFIELD3','Maybe');
    Hide_On_Radio_Value('P1_RADIO','P1_TEXTFIELD4','Maybe');
    Hide_On_Radio_Value('P1_RADIO','P1_RADIOBUTTON','Maybe');
    Hide_On_Radio_Value('P1_RADIO','P1_TEXTFIELD2','No');
    Hide_On_Radio_Value('P1_RADIO','P1_TEXTFIELD4','No');
    Hide_On_Radio_Value('P1_RADIO','P1_RADIOBUTTON','No');
    The problem I see is that in the onchange event, the 'No' options are working because they appear last in the event.
    Can you possibly provide an example using a Case statement?
    Thanks,
    DG

    Hi Joe,
    Welcome to Lightswitch forum.
    If you want to show/hide showSearch button, you can execute this line to show the button,
    this.FindControl("showSearch").IsVisible = true;
    Or execute the line below:
    this.FindControl("showSearch").IsVisible = false;
    Please let me know if there is anything that I can do to help.

  • Captivate: Using Javascript to show/hide text captions

    Hello,
    I want to show/hide a text caption using javascript. I can't find the way of doing it with advanced actions. I dont know if it's because it belongs to a question slide in a pool. Does somebody knows if it's possible and how it can be done??

    You can set the length of the variable when you insert it.
    15 characters is just the default setting.
    What I meant by COULD is that the kind of thing you are asking about here (using JavaScript to hide objects inside a Captivate movie at runtime) is not as simple as you'd like it to be.
    JavaScript is not my particular area of expertise, but there are some people that chime in on this forum that ARE experts at JS. But I think they would also be the first to say that it's not as simple a thing to pull off as just "knowing the command to hide/show an object".
    The easiest tool to use in Captivate for showing or hiding objects is Advanced Actions.  The next easiest thing to use is ActionScript 3, and that's hard.  JavaScript is a very useful programming language, but it spends all of its life outside the Captivate movie looking in through AS3's External Interface.  So JS alone is not going to solve all your issues.

  • Javascript and hide and show.

    Is there any way to hide single item on the form (not region)?
    I have tried to hide an item based on the condition.
    I have radiobutton with value 1 and 0 so I have created on click event that check its value and hides item but:
    the item that I want to hide is a date item with the datepicker option. What happens that item is hidden but label and datepicker icon stays.
    here is the code
    function HideAndShowElement(fieldName,elementNameToHide)
    if(html_RadioValue(fieldName) == 0)
    $x_Hide(elementNameToHide);
    else
    $x_Show(elementNameToHide);
    Any suggestions?
    Robert

    Hello,
    $x_Hide(elementNameToHide); will only hide the element.
    To hide label .. edit the label of the itme.eg. suppose lable is MY_LABEL make it
    [span id="my_lable_id"]MY_LABEL[span] ( replce [ and ] with < and > )
    and make ur javascript code to
    $x_Hide(elementNameToHide);
    $x_Hide('my_label_id');

  • Show/Hide certain items in an array of clusters

    I am trying to figure out how to programmatically show/hide certain items in a cluster (specifically an array of clusters).  I tried a couple of things but nothing worked for me.  On a similar note, I would like to be able to programmatically hide certain columns in a table.  I can’t figure it out and the postings on the LabVIEW forums here were either not terribly helpful for my situation or maybe I just didn’t understand them.  I have attached a vi where I tried to hide items within the array of clusters.  Maybe someone could point out why it didn’t work and hopefully they could provide a solution or direction for me to follow.  Thanks in advance…

    Creating a property node directly to the cluster element is far easier. pcardinale essentially shows this.
    As for the question regarding the table columns, there is no direct way to hide the table columns, viz-a-viz Excel. The closest you can get is to set the column width to zero, as shown in attached example.

  • Help with radio buttons and show/hide javascript

    Hi. I'm new working with LiveCycle and also pretty much at a basic/beginner level of javascripting. I'm creating a pdf fillable form and one of the tasks I've been given is to add a function where if Option A is chosen by the user, then the correspondng table will appear, and if Option B is chosen another table will appear. After some searching I Iearned more about how radio buttons can be used, so I created a set of radio buttons. I have tried several different things, the latest was making both tables "hidden", and then taking to the radio button list group and applying the show/hide script to each of the radio buttons in the group. Still nothing seems to be working as I want it to. The table remains hidden when I click on the . This is what the code looks like right now. I know I'm obviously doing something wrong, this seems like such a basic thing to code. Getting to the frustration point, if you can sort me out with what I am missing/overlooking please let me know. Many thanks!
    Note. The radio buttons are not in the same table, they are higher up in the form outside of the tables that I am trying to show/hide, but they are in the same subform. I don't know if that might be an issue?
    form1.#subform[0].RadioButtonList::click - (JavaScript, client)
    form1.#subform[0].RadioButtonList.#field[0]::click - (JavaScript, client)
       if ( RadioButtonList.#field[0].selectedIndex == 1)
         form1.#subform[0].Table1_Work.presence = "visible"
       else
       form1.#subform[0].Table1_Work.presence = "hidden"
    form1.#subform[0].RadioButtonList.#field[1]::click - (JavaScript, client)
       if ( RadioButtonList.#field[1].selectedIndex == 2)
        form1.#subform[0].Table1_Official.presence = "visible"
      else
         form1.#subform[0].Table1_Official.presence = "hidden"

    Hi,
    For starters you have unnamed pages, which is not a good idea. This makes it more difficult to reference objects. In your JavaScript you would have to resolve the node, however the simpliest route would be to name the page first. Something like "page1". Have a look at this example for referencing objects: http://assure.ly/kUP02y.
    Next I would not place the script in each of the radio buttons, as this is likely to cause conflicts and is doubling the script. The best place to put the script is in the click event of the radio button exclusion group. This contains all of the radio buttons. See an example here: http://assure.ly/h7whb8 and https://acrobat.com/#d=ALebgueDXjewHjGyYRdrmw.
    You syntax for JavaScript if/else statements is potentially incorrect. The script within the statements should be wrapped in curly brackets. While you can get away with it for single lines, I would not be inclined to take that approach. So:
    if (a test) {
         // do something
    else {
         // do something else
    With the radio button exclusion group you can use its rawValue, just specify it in the Object > Binding palette. So on the basis of chaning the page name:
    if (this.rawValue == "1") {
         page1.Table1_Work.presence = "visible";
    else {
         page1.Table1_Work.presence = "hidden";
    There is a syntax checker button in the Script Editor that should highlight errors.

    i will be submitting data to a field in the database.
    First the vlaue of the radio Button
    For example if the first radio button
    then the value of the first radio button value =1
    goes to the field in the database
    also
    the text box that will show. will have data entered in the
    tesx box and the value will be submitted
    to a field.
    thanks
    shall i still use your code????
    thanks
    also, instead of having 2 javascripts controlling the show
    hide, just join them and assume that at each click the div is
    visible.
    the first part of the if statement in the js just makes sure
    the div's display is none. then it displays the one you are
    calling.
    the else allows you to close the divs without having any
    open.
    i'm doing this from home, so i cant really test it, but, it
    looks like it should work.

  • Javascript Help Needed to Show/Hide Regions

    version 4.0.2.00.07
    Hello,
    I'm hoping that someone would help me with creating a Javascript function to Show/Hide regions.
    I have a Select List defined as Checkboxes that when clicked I would like to show specific regions that contain fields that are specific to that checkbox selection. There are currently four selections available. There are two selections that would show one region and the other two selections would show the other region.
    Please let me know if I need to clarify anything.
    Thanks,
    Joe

    There is an out-of-box solution that may help you - check out the "Customisation" section in the region properties.
    Otherwise, you might like to explore using a Dynamic Action to show/hide your region based on an event on your relevant checkbox.
    Either way, you should have a declarative solution when you thought you might need to hand-code some javaScript :-)
    ps - thanks for providing your Apex version.
