[javax.servlet.Filter] can i apply multiple jsp & servlet to a filter?

i have try to applied multiple jsp page & it runs correctly.
my descriptor is like this:
    <filter-mapping>
        <filter-name>AnonymousFilter</filter-name>
        <url-pattern>/user/a.jsp</url-pattern>
        <url-pattern>/user/b.jsp</url-pattern>
        <url-pattern>/user/c.jsp</url-pattern>
    </filter-mapping>now i want to add a servlet, but that filter is not executed...
i have tried descriptor like this:
    <filter-mapping>
        <filter-name>AnonymousFilter</filter-name>
        <url-pattern>/user/a.jsp</url-pattern>
        <url-pattern>/user/b.jsp</url-pattern>
        <url-pattern>/user/c.jsp</url-pattern>
        <servlet-name>dServlet</servlet-name>
    </filter-mapping>and like this:
    <filter-mapping>
        <filter-name>AnonymousFilter</filter-name>
        <url-pattern>/user/a.jsp</url-pattern>
        <url-pattern>/user/b.jsp</url-pattern>
        <url-pattern>/user/c.jsp</url-pattern>
    </filter-mapping>
    <filter-mapping>
        <filter-name>AnonymousFilter</filter-name>
        <servlet-name>dServlet</servlet-name>
    </filter-mapping>both are not work...
is the descriptor wrong? what is the correct descriptor?
thank you.

i forgot about dispatcher type...
the servlet is accessed via FORWARD
& i map the servlet to /WEB-INF/dServlet...
it is wrong? but the servlet is accessible...
    <servlet-mapping>
        <servlet-name>dServlet</servlet-name>
        <url-pattern>/WEB-INF/dServlet</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>the web.xml now is:
    <filter-mapping>
        <filter-name>AnonymousFilter</filter-name>
        <url-pattern>/user/a.jsp</url-pattern>
    </filter-mapping>
    <filter-mapping>
        <filter-name>AnonymousFilter</filter-name>
        <url-pattern>/user/b.jsp</url-pattern>
    </filter-mapping>
    <filter-mapping>
        <filter-name>AnonymousFilter</filter-name>
        <url-pattern>/user/c.jsp</url-pattern>
    </filter-mapping>
    <filter-mapping>
        <filter-name>AnonymousFilter</filter-name>
        <servlet-name>dServlet</servlet-name>
        <dispatcher>FORWARD</dispatcher>
    </filter-mapping>i put this inside the filter:
System.out.println(System.out.println("Anonymous Filter > " + httpRequest.getRequestURI());& hopelessly when i access from a.jsp, b.jsp, c.jsp the filter do print in System.out. but not from servlet...
someone please help me...

  • JSP Servlet JDBC connection

    Below is the code for handling login.
    However I am new to servlets, and I am wondering is the code below correct?
    Can anyone give me some advice if it is not correct?
    package gcd;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    import com.mysql.jdbc.*;
    public class LoginHandler extends HttpServlet
    public void doPost(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res)
    throws ServletException, IOException
    res.setContentType("text/html");
    PrintWriter out = res.getWriter();
    //Load the driver
    Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
    //Get a connection to the database
    java.sql.Connection connection=java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost/gcdBB_db");
    //Create a statement object
    java.sql.Statement statement = connection.createStatement();
    Enumeration parameters = request.getParameterNames();
    if(parameters.hasMoreElements())
    // Get the user's account number, and password
    String username = req.getParameter("username");
    String password = req.getParameter("password");
    statement.executeUpdate("INSERT INTO users (username,password) VALUES ('"+username+"','"+password+"')");
    // Check the name and password for validity
    if (!allowUser(username, password))
    out.println("<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>Access Denied</TITLE></HEAD>");
    out.println("<BODY>Your login and password are invalid.<BR>");
    out.println("You may want to <A HREF=\"Login.jsp\">try again</A>");
    out.println("</BODY></HTML>");
    else
    // Valid login. Make a note in the session object.
    HttpSession session = req.getSession();
    session.setAttribute("logon.isDone", account); // just a marker object
    // Try redirecting the client to the page he first tried to access
    try
    String target = (String) session.getAttribute("login.target");
    if (target != null)
    res.sendRedirect(target);
    return;
    catch (Exception ignored) { }
    // Couldn't redirect to the target. Redirect to the site's home page.
    res.sendRedirect("/");
    protected boolean allowUser(String username, String password)
    return true; // trust everyone
    }

    I made the following changes as suggested, to the LoginHandlaer code.
    I also want to ask about the code for ProtectedResources. Do I need to inlude anything in the program. Will I need to include code for the JDBC connection?
    Are the 2 java servlets below correct, as I want JSP-Servlet-JSP operation for login? I can also include the code for Login.jsp if requested?
    PS: I am using Tomcat 3.1 as my server.

  • Sample jsp servlet bean (MVC) code

    We want to look into the JSP/Servlet/Bean area for our next project. We wish to understand the technology and as such want to hand build simple applications, and as such do not want to use JDeveloper just yet.
    We have searched and searched for suitable material but cannot anywhere find a sample application that :
    A. Lists contents of a databse table
    B. Each item in trhe list is a link to a page that allows that item, to be edited.
    C. A new item can be added.
    D. Uses the MVC model of JSP/Servlet and bean (preferably with no custom tags)
    There are examples that are too simplistic and do not cover the whole picture. Having spent over 100 GBP on books lately, only to be disappointed with the examples provided, we need to see some sample code.
    The samples provided by Oracle are too simplistic. They should really have provided ones built around the EMP and DEPT tables.
    Anyone know where we can get hold of this sample code.

    At the risk of sounding really dumb the examples are just too complex. There does not appear to be anywhere on the web where I can find a simple JSP/servlet/bean example of the type I described. There is enouigh material describing each individual component, but what I need is an example to cement the ideas, but the ones suggested are too much for a newbie. Even the much vaunted Pet Store thingy causes my eyes to glaze over.
    I dont expect anyone to have written something with my exact requirements, but surely to goodness there must be something that:
    1. On entry presents a search form on a table (e.g. EMP)
    2. On submission list all rows in EMp matchiung the criteria.
    3. The user can either click the link 'Edit' which opens up a form dispalying the row allowing the user to edit and save the changes, or click the 'New' button to show a blank form to create a new EMP.
    All this via a Controller servlet, with the database logic handled by a java bean, and all the presentation done via JSP.
    To me this is the most obvious and instructive example of this technology, but after days of trawling the web, and looking through a number of books, I cannot find such a thing.
    CGI with Perl DBI/DBD was a breeze to work with compared to this stuff ..... maybe ASP with SQL/Server would be a more fruitful use of time.

  • 3D: Deleting a mesh, applying multiple materials, "New volume from Layers"

    I am learning the 3D capabilities of Photoshop CS5 Extended and have some questions that do not appear to be covered in the help reference material:
    Can I remove a mesh from a 3D Layer / scene?
    For instance, after having merged two 3D layers together.
    Can I apply multiple materials to a single mesh?
    I can see that more complex meshes have multiple materials applied to them. Does Photoshop have the capability to add/remove more than one materials to meshes?
    What is "New volume from Layer" intended to do?
    I couldn't find this specific menu item in the help reference material anywhere.
    Thanks,
    B.
    PS: I sat waiting on hold for Adobe tech support for 2 hours and 17 minutes with no signs of life before giving up. When I explored callback options online, the website said that no options are available for Photoshop. This level/absence of support is mind-bogglingly awful for an enterprise like Adobe. I know me grousing about it here won't change anything, but I need to get my frustration out of my system and writing it down helps.

    Hi B.,
    Can I remove a mesh from a 3D Layer / scene?
    For instance, after having merged two 3D layers together.
    You can only hide meshes in the scene, not remove or delete them. You have to delete the whole 3D layer to remove meshes from a document.
    Can I apply multiple materials to a single mesh?
    I can see that more complex meshes have multiple materials applied to them. Does Photoshop have the capability to add/remove more than one materials to meshes.
    With Photoshop you can't replace an existing single material with multiple materials. There's very limited ability to edit UV mapping and you'll want to do that in a full 3D modeling application. Repoussé meshes are created with 5 materials to a single mesh object so technically, yes to your question; But that's not really what I think you're asking.
    What is "New volume from Layer" intended to do?
    I couldn't find this specific menu item in the help reference material anywhere.
    This has applications in scientific and medical imaging, but doesn't need to only be used there. An example would be to use a DICOM format, multi-sliced imaging scan and have the layers of the scan modeled into a volume. It is really just taking successive layers and placing them at equal distance in space. The Render Settings dialog offers a few options to vary the displayed volume after it's generated.
    I'll see if I can get that model tomorrow and try to find out why the menu items are not working. You're talking about the group of 4 that includes 'Hide Nearest Surface', right?
    regards,
    steve

  • How can I prevent filter from getting applies to .html page?

    Hi,
    I have a MyFaces filter that I don't want applied to pages ending in ".html". However, upon visiting the "/myapp/index.html" page of my application, I get an internal server error, and the stack trace indicates that the filter is being invoked. How can I prevent such a filter from being applied to ".html" pages? The stack trace and the web.xml file are below.
    Thanks, - Dave

    Regarding,
    At any way, you should map the ExtensionsFilter on the FacesServlet rather than on any url-pattern. Could you elaborate on what you mean? Maybe with an example?
    Thanks, - Dave

  • Can't get EntityManager access in JSP/Servlet

    Hi all,
    our team has started a EJB project (EJBs + JPA configurations)
    we managed to access the configured JPA (EntityManager etc) within the EJB instance; however we don't know how to access the EntityManager within JSP/Servlet
    Our project's structure:
    1 EJB project (EJB classes, EntityBean classes, JPA configuration + eclipselink)
    1 Web project (for JSP, Servlets)
    the main problem is ... we can't access EntityManager(s) in JSP / Servlets (and we already tried using Struts2.0 to replace servlets/jsp... the problem is the same... so it is not ... the matter of choosing the view technology...)
    Jason

    Hi Jason,
    How i tried to get EntityManager is as following:
    Suppose I want to define my Persistence unit like Following:
    *<Your-EAR>/APP-INF/classes/MyEmployee.java*
    "*MyEmployee.java*"
    package entityA;
    import java.io.Serializable;
    import org.apache.commons.lang.builder.EqualsBuilder;
    import org.apache.commons.lang.builder.HashCodeBuilder;
    import org.apache.commons.lang.builder.ToStringBuilder;
    import javax.persistence.*;

    @Table(name="MYEMPLOYEE")
    public class MyEmployee implements Serializable {
         //default serial version id, required for serializable classes.

  • How can I use multiple row insert or update into DB in JSP?

    Hi all,
    pls help for my question.
    "How can I use multiple rows insert or update into DB in JSP?"
    I mean I will insert or update the multiple records like grid component. All the data I enter will go into the DB.
    With thanks,

    That isn't true. Different SQL databases have
    different capabilities and use different syntax, That's true - every database has its own quirks and extensions. No disagreement there. But they all follow ANSI SQL for CRUD operations. Since the OP said they wanted to do INSERTs and UPDATEs in batches, I assumed that ANSI SQL was sufficient.
    I'd argue that it's best to use ANSI SQL as much as possible, especially if you want your JDBC code to be portable between databases.
    and there are also a lot of different ways of talking to
    SQL databases that are possible in JSP, from using
    plain old java.sql.* in scriptlets to using the
    jstlsql taglib. I've done maintenance on both, and
    they are as different as night and day.Right, because you don't maintain JSP and Java classes the same way. No news there. Both java.sql and JSTL sql taglib are both based on SQL and JDBC. Same difference, except that one uses tags and the other doesn't. Both are Java JDBC code in the end.
    Well, sure. As long as you only want to update rows
    with the same value in column 2. I had the impression
    he wanted to update a whole table. If he only meant
    update all rows with the same value in a given column
    with the same value, that's trivial. All updates do
    that. But as far as I know there's know way to update
    more than one row where the values are different.I used this as an example to demonstrate that it's possible to UPDATE more than one row at a time. If I have 1,000 rows, and each one is a separate UPDATE statement that's unique from all the others, I guess I'd have to write 1,000 UPDATE statements. It's possible to have them all either succeed or fail as a single unit of work. I'm pointing out transaction, because they weren't coming up in the discussion.
    Unless you're using MySQL, for instance. I only have
    experience with MySQL and M$ SQL Server, so I don't
    know what PostgreSQL, Oracle, Sybase, DB2 and all the
    rest are capable of, but I know for sure that MySQL
    can insert multiple rows while SQL Server can't (or at
    least I've never seen the syntax for doing it if it
    does).Right, but this syntax seems to be specific to MySQL The moment you use it, you're locked into MySQL. There are other ways to accomplish the same thing with ANSI SQL.
    Don't assume that all SQL databases are the same.
    They're not, and it can really screw you up badly if
    you assume you can deploy a project you've developed
    with one database in an environment where you have to
    use a different one. Even different versions of the
    same database can have huge differences. I recommend
    you get a copy of the O'Reilly book, SQL in a
    Nutshell. It covers the most common DBMSes and does a
    good job of pointing out the differences.Yes, I understand that.
    It's funny that you're telling me not to assume that all SQL databases are the same. You're the one who's proposing that the OP use a MySQL-specific extension.
    I haven't looked at the MySQL docs to find out how the syntax you're suggesting works. What if one value set INSERT succeeds and the next one fails? Does MySQL roll back the successful INSERT? Is the unit of work under the JDBC driver's control with autoCommit?
    The OP is free to follow your suggestion. I'm pointing out that there are transactions for units of work and ANSI SQL ways to accomplish the same thing.

  • Can I create multiple instances of  realplayer plug-in in one jsp page?

    I want to play meny video files in one jsp web page, these video files are to be played with the embeded plug-in of realplayer, each plug-in was linked(use its SRC property) a different video file. But, to my surprise, when I press the play button, every player played the same video file,not its specified file.
    I have no idea why it did so and what can I do?
    Whether can I create multiple instances of realplayer plug-in in one jsp page, that is to say, each instance is independent of others?
    thanks in advance!

    Generally speaking, Internet Explorer tries not to launch multiple versions of a plug-in. So what's happening is that you load the first video clip, and then before it has a chance to play, you load the second video clip into the same window. (It's like changing songs in WMA.)
    In some cases - this may not work for Real Player, but it's worth trying - if you spawn a new window through a hypertext link and then launch the plug-in in that window, IE will treat it separately. Otherwise, you could not, for example, run two Macromedia Flash applications from different web sites at the same time.
    Keep in mind that only one program can access the soundcard at a time, so Real Player may purposely "pause" or "cancel" other video streams until the active one finishes. If you were using the desktop version, selecting another video by any means aborts the currently running video (i.e., RP won't let you create a separate instance of it).
    The easiest solution is to create a wrapper JSP file that takes the name of the video clip, and plays it. Call that JSP and specify that it should be opened in a new window via the TARGET keyword in the anchor tag. Then hopefully RP itself won't block a second window from running.

  • Can we create multiple instances of a Bean in a JSP file?

    Hi,
    I am new to JSP & Servlets programming.
    I need to write a servlet that connects to a database via JDBC ( using IBM DB2 dbms) , sets some Beans with the tuples in the relevant table.
    Then, I need to have a JSP "read" ( or "get") info from the Beans & display the contents to the client.
    ( At a time only 5 tuples must be visible in the UI , with Next & Prev links ...)
    I am using Tomcat 4.0 for this...
    Can any one please help me regarding HOW to go abt it ?
    Esp., should we create 1 instance of a Bean , ( say "DataBean") for EACH tuple , or is there a way to do it with only 1 instance...
    Please, guide me... ( if not possible, at least give me some hints to some GOOD resources ( books, sites,etc.), that deal with this kind of applications)
    Thanks,
    Raghu.

    Once again, thanx a lot for your detailed help -- evnafets !!
    I think I am gaining in my knowledge of JSP & Servlets thanks to your help...
    Now, I am tackling the issue of selecting the BEST way of "STORING" which "PAGE" no. I am displaying.
    Say, I have only 15 tuples(ROWS), & with 5 tuples displayed per page, I have to have 3 "pages", & I need to accomplish the handling of "Prev" & "Next" links using only 1 Servlet & 1 JSP ( apart from the Authorization servlet ).
    I am thinking of storing a "session-scoped" variable called "page-num". Do you think it's the best way?
    Or should I score it as an "application-scoped variable" ( i.e., in the ServletContext ...) ??
    Also, I have got no clues as to which of the following would be a better idea :
    (a) Fetch ALL the tuples in the table & set as many beans. And then display the corresponding 5 tuples in each page.
    Here, more bean instances are needed to hold the data which gets repeatedly passed around ( when Prev & Next links are clicked ).
    OR ..
    (b)Fetch only 5 tuples at a time . I think this may be done by creating a scrollable Resultset & then moving around to the appropriate ROW by saying
    resultSet.absolute( (page_num - 1)*5 + 1 ); & then fetching 5 tuples relative to this row.
    In this case I will need atmost 5 Bean objects per request.
    And YES, one more thing , WOULD you PLEASE try & give me some guidance towards some good references to JSP, Servlets & J2EE ? ( Links, Books, anything ! )
    Sorry for the TROUBLE I gave, but THANKS a lot for the TROUBLE u took ! ;-)
    Thanks & Regards,
    Raghu

  • How can I call EJB from JSP/Servlets in iWS?

    Hi!!
    My JSP/Servlets are on iWS, and I deploy EJB on iAS.
    In this case, I don't know how JSP/Servlet call EJb on iAS.
    I'd like to know how I can set JNDI name in JSP/Servlet on iWS.
    I will thank you if you give me a simple example source using JSP/Servlet
    and EJB.
    Thanks in advance!!!

    Park,
    Why Are you running your JSP/Servlets in iWS instead of iAS? For whatever
    reason,
    look at the Converter sample from iAS. You will be doing RMI/IIOP in this
    case and the sample explains in detail what to do.

  • How can I apply the same crop to multiple photos?

    It is easy to apply the same Adjust settings to multiple photos by using the Copy and Paste in the Adjust pane. Or by using iPhoto Batch Enhancer.
    But can you apply the same crop to multiple photos? I don't see any way to copy a crop. iPhoto Batch Enhancer can do something like it but, being an external editor, it does so on a copy of the photo. I want it on the original photo. (Well, it's not really the original since that one is saved separately in the Library but on the current version).
    Thanks for any suggestion.
    Bo

    Here's how:
    1 - bring up the first photo in the edit window and click on the Crop button or *use the "C" key on the keyboard*.
    2 - set the crop size/ratio in the menu and position the crop window over the photo as needed.
    3 - click the Apply button or *use the Enter key*.
    4 - click on the right arrow in iPhoto or *use the right arrow key on the keyboard* to bring up the next photo.
    5 - click the "C" key to bring up the crop function.
    6 - repeat steps 2 thru 5 for each photo.

  • Can somebody explain to me how JSP, servlets, ASP work within Sun's server

    Ok, I'm only beginning to get a grip of how all this works. And I have a lot of questions and confusion.
    1.) The server that comes with J2EE, what is that server? Is it an app server that runs only servlets and JSP, with some Web server stuff so it can output some info? Is it a stripped down version of TomCat? I am having a lot of trouble with the J2EE server (the one that comes with the SDK), and that is why I'm asking, maybe I don't need it. But I really want to learn JSP's, JScripts, and Beans. How else can I go about doing that, other than all out Tomcat.
    2.) Also can I run Servlets on Microsft's IIS on a Windows 2000 machine? Do I need a special API to run servlets, or JSPs?
    So how I see it, and again, I am a newbie at this. Machines that host a website, above all needs a web server. let's say most people use Apache, and they want to run it in Linux, becuase they want to be hackers. So then do they also run Tomcat, or IIS, or Coldfusion, or a million other servers in tandem on the same machine, so that they can handle ASP, JSPs, servlets, .cmf, etc.? or do they separate the app server from the webserver and then do some sort of linking? if somebody can direct me to how all this stuff works, I would greatly greatly appreciate it.

    Sounds like you need to read the J2EE spec as well as
    the servlet and JSP specs. It helps to glance through
    sections you are interested in.
    Ok, I'm only beginning to get a grip of how all this

    to a J2EE compliant app server can be quite a headache.
    You might want to concentrate on tomcat, which does servlet
    and jsp.
    Some app servers provide a http connector for most common web servers.
    I think tomcat has a IIS connector. In this case IIS would serve static html as well as its own stuff, other things like servlets and jsp go to tomcat. I am unsure about this as I mostly use tomcat in standalone mode. You can run tomcat on windows, as it is written in java.

    2.) Also can I run Servlets on Microsft's IIS on a
    Windows 2000 machine? Do I need a special API to run
    servlets, or JSPs?
