JAXB & the W3C schema for schemas

When I try and run JAXB over the W3C schema for schemas I get loads of error messages during the parsing concerning the simple type definitions which restrict the xs:whiteSpace property of xs:simpleType.
Has anybody else tried to run JAXB over the schema for schemas?
Has anyone been successful?
Cheers,
Simon

I also tried to compile Schema for Schemas (normative)
from http://www.w3.org/TR/xmlschema-1/#normative-schemaSchema
This one in definition of schema in fact, but I can't compile it with JAXB. The error messages are :
[ERROR] rcase-Recurse.2: There is not a complete functional mapping between the particles.
line 776 of schema.xsd
[ERROR] derivation-ok-restriction.5.3: Error for type 'all'. The particle of the type is not a valid restriction of the particle of the base.

[ERROR] derivation-ok-restriction.5.3: Error for type 'complexRestrictionType'. The particle of the type is not a valid restriction of the particle of the base.

One can see that all messages about the same problem.
It looks like a bug in JAXB because normative schema must be compiled , I guess...
Is anyone has any idea how to solve the problem?

  • Is JaxB the correct tool for what I want

    (New to JaxB/XML, but good with Java)
    I'm using an XML document to hold information about classes. Currently I'm using JaxB and it seems to work ok, but I just had one consern. It would be nice (both faster and less mem) if I could read the XML information into the classes I was using in my program directly. Right now with JaxB, I am reading them into some generated classes and retrieving that information from those classes and putting it into my main classes. What I would like to do is while information for classes is being read in, don't create more memory for them to be stored into, instead store it directly into the main classes. I'm thinking this would be faster. Any ideas? Should I stick with JaxB or is something else better suited for what I want. As an example, my program reads in a List[] Float, but what I really need is a float[] (Yes I know how to convert, but it'ld be nice to start with the float[]) As another example, I read in 3 floats right now as Float[] but what I really need is a class called Vector3f() I'm using, derived from those 3 floats. It would be nice to give me that Vector3f directly instead of making a Float[] and me having to make a Vector3f

    That's List Float up there, not List[] Float :)

  • [JAXB 2.x] Defining the XML Schema Type for XmlElementDecl

    How can an XML Schema Type (XmlSchemaType) be defined for an XmlElementDecl/Ref?
    The classes are as follows:
        @XmlRegistry
        class ObjectFactory {
            // XmlSchemaType is desired, but cannot be used with XmlElementDecl/Ref: @XmlSchemaType(name = "unsignedShort")
            @XmlElementDecl(namespace = "urn:com:test:namespace", name = "char", scope = com.test.Arguments.class)
            @XmlJavaTypeAdapter(com.test.CharacterAdapter.class )
            public JAXBElement<Character> createArgumentsChar(Character value) {
                return new JAXBElement<Character>(_ArgumentsChar_QNAME, Character.class, com.test.Arguments.class, value);
        @XmlAccessorType(XmlAccessType.FIELD)
        @XmlType(name = "", propOrder = { "arguments" })
        class Arguments {
            @XmlElementRefs( {
                    @XmlElementRef(name = "char", namespace = "urn:com:test:namespace", type = JAXBElement.class),
            protected List<JAXBElement<?>> arguments;
        }The desired schema is as follows:
        <xs:element name="arguments" minOccurs="0">
            <xs:complexType>
                <xs:sequence>
                    <xs:choice minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded">
                        <xs:element name="char" type="xs:unsignedShort" />
                    </xs:choice>
                </xs:sequence>
            </xs:complexType>
        </xs:element>However, when generating the schema from these classes (schemagen), the resulting "char" element type is "xs:string," not "xs:unsignedShort" as desired. What annotation can be used to indicate that the type should be xs:unsignedShort? If the addition of an annotation is not possible, are there any other ways to accomplish this?

  • Is JAXB the best solution to store XML schema in databse

    Hi, i have a doubt regarding which is better way to store XML schema to database.
    I have looked on JAXB, DOM, SAX.
    I should be able to modify the database and store back the changes in XML schema..
    i am really consfused about this.
    plz suggest me
    thanx

    Thank you for your reply
    As per as I know JAXB take XML schema as basis to
    create tables in database and store the XML data
    according to that . I want to store the XML Data in
    the database structured according to XML schema
    defined by me.I'm not sure how a schema would impact this. Schema is a data definition that constraints a given XML data document. The XML itself is stored as a string. Databases like Oracle now have XML column types and allow you to use XML querying languages and x-Path in normal SQL queries.
    There are 2 types of mapping from XML to datbase
    Table space and object relational
    A tablespace is conceptually similar to a namespace. Object relational mappers go from objects to relational databases and back. I do not see how either of these two concepts are mutually exclusive. And the latter makes no sense if you talking about an object database. There is no O/R mapping because there is no relational database, it's an object database.
    I want to do object-relational mapping from XML to
    o object oriented database . and the modifications
    done on the datbase want to store again in XML. As
    per as I know JAXB give us classes as per the XML
    schema and we can write DDL to store the data in
    databse
    JAXB is for marshalling and unmarshalling Java objects to and from XML. The XML itself can be stored in any LOB database column.
    Is it the right approach or do you have any better
    idea?I still do not really understand what you are trying to do. It seems like you have a bit too much technology soup to consume. What are the actual requirements?

  • Can someone please try to register the following W3C Schema? It FAILS!

    Greetings,
    Can someone please try to register the following W3C Schema? It is failing on all attempts by me and I feel there is a possible problem with the parser.
    http://www.w3.org/TR/xmldsig-core/xmldsig-core-schema.xsd
    I used the following...
    BEGIN
    DBMS_XMLSCHEMA.REGISTERSCHEMA(
    schemaurl=>'http://www.w3.org/TR/xmldsig-core/xmldsig-core-schema.xsd',
    schemadoc=>sys.UriFactory.getUri('http://www.w3.org/TR/xmldsig-core/xmldsig-core-schema.xsd'),
    local=>FALSE,
    gentypes=>TRUE,
    genbean=>FALSE,
    gentables=>TRUE,
    force=>TRUE,
    owner=>'XDB');

  • Configuring the authentication scheme for a web application

    Hi all,
    We have a requirement to configure the authentication scheme for a web application where some set of users should access the application using basic LDAP (userid/password) authentication and some using digital certificate authentication.
    Since the deployment descriptor (web.xml) allows only one directive for auth-method in logic-config, we want to know if there is any other way to achieve this requirement. We are thinking of a custom login module approach. But we are not able to figure out how to configure the auth-method at runtime from the login servlet.
    Please let us know if there is any other approach to achieve this.
    I will be thankful if any body shares any specific solution to this issue.

    This forum is probably not the correct one to ask in. It's more related to the web container than Java Programming.

  • I'm trying to get a style switcher going for my site(for the colour scheme)

    I'd like to give my users the choice of changing the colour
    scheme of my site (
    http://chaoscoalition.net) at
    will, through css style changing buttons such as the ones on the
    forum's theme(
    http://forum.chaoscoalition.net).
    I've read many articles and tutorials on how to set up
    alternate stylesheets for a webpage, but I can't quite get it
    right. Every time I seem to have gotten it right, it either opens
    the php file that sets the cookie, or it opens the stylesheet as
    text. I want to end up with something like the forum's theme
    changing module, but for the homepage.
    I have 5 different versions of the page made, all as
    different pages(php format), but I don't understand how to link the
    buttons at the top to trigger the stylesheet change, and I don't
    even knwo if it's possible to rely on a css file to change the
    whole colour scheme of the page(which is image based).
    It'd be great if someone could walk me through this, or offer
    some tutorial that explains how to do this from scratch.
    Thank you.

    First, never use Fireworks or any graphics app to build HTML and CSS for you.  The resulting code is rigid, fragile and only good for quick comps or prototypes to show a client.  Use DW to generate actual site code.
    Secondly, external stylesheets must not contain JavaScripts or X/HTML code as your green.css does.  Only CSS rules and comments are allowed inside external stylesheets - like so:
    /**Green CSS**/
    body {
         margin:0 auto;/**this centers page**/
         padding:0;
         width: 900px;
         font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
         color: white;
         background: green; /**this is green**/

    I'm interested in a complete enumerated list of the acceptable VALUES (as in KEY=VALUE) for the URL Scheme defined https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/featuredarticles/iPhoneURLScheme_Referen ce/MapLinks/MapLinks.html
    Obviously some of those parameters have an enumerated list, some are freeform. I'm just interested in the enumerated ones.

  • How to obtain the encoding scheme for an XML document

    How do you go about reading the encoding scheme for an XML document??
    More specifically how do I read the line:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    (Using Win32 C++ XML Parser 2.0.3 as SAX).
    null

    I work mostly with the Java versions of the parser so you'll have to make the translation to C++. As far as I know, you can't use the SAX API to access to the encoding.
    You need to use the DOM along with Oracle's extension to the basic DOM functionality. Oracle's package, oracle.xml.parser.v2 defines a class which implements the Document interface called XMLDocument. This class has a method, getEncoding(), which returns the encoding. You would use the method in getDocument() in the Parser base class inherited by DOMParser to retrive the XMLDocument.

  • Failed to retrieve a schema URI (document namespace) for /userprofiles/emailNotification.usr; please see the following exception for details

    I get this exception (and long stack trace) when attempting to start my weblogic server. I'm running Weblogic 7 with Portal 7 (sp 1). I'm using Oracle 8.1.7. I upgraded this application from weblogic portal 4.0, and never had this problem there. As part of the migration process, I ran the tool to migrate all of the database tables, and I re-synched the EBCC project using version 7 of EBCC. I did a search for this problem and found a few mentions of it that seemed to be related to Oracle's handling of CLOB data. Apparently, there is a patch, but I can't seem to find this patch. I'm also not sure if this is indeed the problem since I didn't have this issue with the older version of weblogic using the same database. Any suggestions?

    If you have a support contract please open a case so we can work through
    this problem.
    Can you run an sqlplus session on your database, execute the commands
    "delete from data_sync_item" and "commit", then resync to see if it will
    get you around the problem. The data_sync_item table will be fully
    populated after you sync. This should get you running.
    Between 4.0 and 7.0 the DefaultRequestPropertySet.req file was reduced
    in size -- the CLOB would be smaller in the data_sync_item table.
    I would recommend using the Version Checker against your installation --
    find it on the dev2dev.bea.com site to see if the upgrade installer work
    ed properly. Also consider running the full installer to avoid possible
    problems that might occur with upgrade installers.
    As a result of that patch you referenced in 4.0 the CLOB handling logic
    was changed in 7.0 -- this is why it is strange you are seeing cleaving
    errors. In 7.0 SP2 to be release next week the data sync and
    persistence code was changed also.
    Are you using the OCI or Thin driver?

    Are you using a UTF-8 Oracle database?
    Yes
    If you create a new User Profile in the EBCC and compare it to your
    migrated .usr file do you see differences in the DTD's?
    I recreated a new version of the .usr in the EBCC, and still got the same error.
    I also tried deleting everything from the data-sync-item table and re-synching.

    MetadataCacheName="documentMetadataCache"

    What does the document.jar Targets="" parameter look like in config.xml?
    <EJBComponent Name="document" Targets="pfeCluster" URI="document.jar"/>

    I get this exception (and long stack trace) when attempting to start

    4.0, and never had this problem there. As part of the migration process,
    I ran the tool to migrate all of the database tables, and I re-synched
    the EBCC project using version 7 of EBCC. I did a search for this problem
    and found a few mentions of it that seemed to be related to Oracle's
    handling

    didn't have this issue with the older version of weblogic using the
    same database. Any suggestions?

  • Getting error when updating the JavaScript API for Office and manifest schema files in your Visual Studio project from version 1.0 to 1.1

    Hi,
    I`m getting error message like "None of the apps in your project can be activated in the target. The manifest file of one or more apps contain API sets or Office applications that are not supported by
    the target Office client. To debug those apps, update manifest files to exclude any unsupported API sets or Office applications, and then start the project again. Alternatively, you can debug your apps by using Office 365 as a target." when when
    updating the JavaScript API for Office and manifest schema files in your Visual Studio project from version 1.0 to 1.1 in manifest file though i have added host elements.
    any help in this regard is highly appreciated
    Thanks,

    Hi Satosh Sutar,
    Based on the description, you got the error message when you update the apps from version 1.0 to 1.1.
    From the error message, it seems the menifest include some settings no allowed in the new version. Would you mind sharing more detail about how you update the project?
    And here is an article about updating apps for Office and menifest schema files in the project for your reference:

  • What are the best practices for the RCU's schemas

    Hi,
    I was wondering if there is some best practices about the RCU's schemas created with BIEE.
    I already have discoverer (and application server), so I have a metadata repository for the Application Server. I will upgrade Discoverer 10g to 11, so I will create new schema with RCU in my metada repository (MR) of the Application Server. I'm wondering if I can put the BIEE's RCU schemas in the same database.
    Basically,
    1. is there a standard for the PREFIX ?
    2. If I have multiple components of Fusion in the same Database, I will have multiples PREFIX_MDS schema ? Can they have the same PREFIX ? Or They all need to have a different prefix ?
    For exemple: DISCO_MDS and BIEE_MDS or I can have DEV_MDS and this schema is valid for both Discoverer and BIEE.
    Thank you !

    What are the best practices for exception handling in n-tier applications?
    The application is a fat client based on MVVM pattern with
    .NET framework.
    That would be to catch all exceptions at a single point in the n-tier solution, log it and create user friendly messages displayed to the user.

    Hi,
    we assign account assignment category in PO.Here is the path
    IMG>Materials Management>Purchasing>Account Assignment>Maintain Account Assignment Categories OME9
    Based on account assignment category you use in PO, it will ask you cost object in PO
    E.g P (project) you need to enter G/L and WBS element
          N Network     G/L and Network
    Like in SD account determination,  OMWB is MM and FI integration.
