JAZN-LDAP : retrieve inetOrgPerson attributes from principal object

Hello.
I 've extended callerInfo demo (in OC4J distrib :j2ee/home/jazn/demo) :
1. use of JAZN-LDAP
2. now the servlet prints the "HttpServletRequest.getUserPrincipal()" object attributes (class implementation : oracle.security.jazn.oc4j.JAZNUserAdaptor) : the servlet prints LDAP attributes like user DN, subscriber name, groups member, ....
Is it possible to retrieve other attributes of the LDAP object user (like description, businessCategory) by the java.security.Principal interface ?
Thanks.

Try this
public String getCompanyByUserDN(String userDN) throws Exception
String result = null;
Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapCtxFactory");
env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "ldap://<<LDAP HOST>>:<<LDAP PORT>>");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_AUTHENTICATION, "simple");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, <<User DN>>);
env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, <<User Password>>);
DirContext dirCtx = new InitialDirContext(env);
DirContext userCtx = (DirContext)dirCtx.lookup(userDN);
Attributes attrs = userCtx.getAttributes("", new String[] {"o"});
result = (String)attrs.get("o").get();
return result;
}

  • Retrieve namespace  declarations from unmarshalled object

    Hi,
         I hope this is a beginner's question:
    Still working on a web service, that uses an EJB for implementation. I'm using types/classes that were derived automatically from a WSDL (top-down/outside-in/what have you), or rather the corresponding schemata. I'm trying to retrieve namespace declarations from the unmarshalled object/element, but  they are not contained in the "otherAttributes" [Map<QName, String>] member field of the respective object. However, I can retrieve any other attribute, qualified and non qualified, as long as the namespace isn't that of xmlns (http://www.w3.org/2000/xmlns/). For example:
    Client:
                MyElement my_element = new MyElement();
                Map<QName, String> atts = my_element.getOtherAttributes();
                QName ns_att = new QName("http://www.w3.org/2000/xmlns/", "a");
                atts.put(ns_att, "http://www.example.com/");
                QName test_att = new QName("test-att");
                atts.put(test_att, "http://www.example2.com");
    Service:
                MyElement my_element = parent.getMyElement(); // ...
                Map<QName, String> atts = my_element.getOtherAttributes();
                for (QName qn :  atts.keySet()) {
                    System.out.println("qn: ["+qn+"] value["+atts.get(qn)+"]");
    This would print:
    qn: [test-att] value[http://www.example2.com]
    What am I missing? How do I get the namespace declaration? Thanks for your help in advance.
    Cheers,
    Felix

    I'll try to explain in a better way ...
    I have a server with 2 different client and each client communicate to the server with a different interface.
    My needs are to recognize from the server, the type of the client that are operating, and to do this I was thinking to recognize the interface used from the client to interact with the server
    An other option is that, from the client, after retrieving the server and it's cast, a can call a method to pass to the server object, the type of the interface actually used.
    But I think this makes a bit of nonsense because When I receive the marshalled object in my opinion doesn't make sense that i have to say the object it's type (the interface used).
    the object is already alive and I think it has to know the interface used to refer it even if is on another VM
    The cast operation doesn't store nothing into the current object instance?
    local code example (I don't know if with JRMI the situation is different because the different JVM)
    Map foo = new HashTable();
    I need a method like
    foo.curretUsedInterface() ... that return "Map"
    instead of
    foo.getClass().getName() that return "HashMap"
    It's possible to obtain this information or I have to try another idea to make the server distinguish the client type?
    thank you very much for your comprehension

  • Jdev aborts when removing attribute from entity object

    Hi,
    after synchronizing my data model with my database scheme, jdeveloper 10g gave me the correct message, that there had been 1 attribute left in an entity object, that does no longer exist in the database.
    When removing the attribute from the entity object, jdev 10g aborts (first click: nothing happens, second click: abort).

  • Combining attributes from two object types

    Experts,
    I have two files coming from FIM. Employee and department data. Employee file is expected to synch data for 'person' object and department file to synch data for 'organization' object.
    Common attribute in these two files is department_id.
    I want information in department file like department_name and department_city to also get populated in 'person' object attribute.
    How to combine data for two different objects and source.
    Hope i made sense. Kindly suggest.
    Thanks,
    Mann

    Thanks Tomasz!
    It answers my question. I was pondering over it for quite sometime.
    Let me ask one more scenario.
    Say I don't need/want 'department' object in metaverse.
    In this case can I map the data coming in 'department' file to 'person' object type in FIM. I will use the department_id as the anchor.
    For this MA, I will just use 'join'(and no projection). In this way I will be able to update the attributes coming from department file(like department name) directly in 'person' object.
    So basically flow will be:-
    MA1(Employee file)>> update/project 'person' object.(updating department_id along with other attributes).
    MA2(Department data)>> only update(only joining & no projection) person object with department name and other information using department_id as anchor.
    Kindly let me know your views. Will this create any issue in future?
    Thanks,
    Mann

  • Unable to Retrieve Attributes from LDAP Server

    I have a problem. I was wondering if anyone can assist me. I am new to LDAP servers and JNDI. I cannot retrieve any attributes from the users listed in my data entry. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
    I created an entry in the LDAP server that looks like this:
    o=somedn
    |
    ou=people, o=somedn
    The ou=people, o=somedn entry contains fictitious users. The LDAP server is connected to a MySQL database. When I write Java code to read the attributes of a given user whose fullname (cn) is Vinny Luigi, as listed in the database, I receive an error that starts with the following:
    javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: [LDAP: error code 32 - No Such Object]; remaining name 'cn=Vinny Luigi,ou=people'
    The code I used is based on the Sun JNDI tutorial. Suns code is at http://java.sun.com/products/jndi/tutorial/basics/directory/src/GetattrsAll.java. My version of the code is below:

  • Accessing details from multiline object attribute..

    Hi Workflowers, help sought..
    Can anyone show me how I can access the <u>value</u> attributes of a <u>multiline object reference</u> attribute.
    For example, I want to create a new multiline attribute in the <i>SalesOrder</i> object (ZBUS2032) called <b>LineQuantities</b>.  ZBUS2032 has a multiline <u>object reference</u> attribute called <i>Items</i>. I want to place the QUANTITY attributes of all of the <i>Items</i> of the SalesOrder into my new <b>LineQuantities</b> attribute.  What is the syntax to retrieve all the QUANTITY attributes of the <i>Items</i> to my new multiline attribute of the SalesOrder?
    Can I use something like
    SWC_GET_TABLE_PROPERTY self  'Items'  <b>it_quantity</b>
    to retrieve a list of the <i>Items</i> quantity attributes? In that case, <b>it_quantity</b> would need to be defined as a table of object references, and I would still need to get the quantity attribute from each object somehow. There is probably straightforward way to do this, if someone can enlighten me.
    Not sure how to do it, any pointers much appreciated.

    Hi Tony,
    Please confirm, First of all did you copy as Subtype of BUS2032. Don't copy directly.
    define virtual attribute for Quantity, then you can use multiline container element.

  • Retrieving jar signature from code

    I need to retrieve the signature information of a .jar file. My own
    .jar actually (the .jar file I'm running from).
    Is there some API that will allow me to retrieve the signature from an
    object reference, class name or package name ?
    Something like:
    signature = SomeClass.GetSignature(this);
    I guess what I want to do is the same thing jarsigner -verify -verbose
    does but from my code and for my own jar.
    Is there any API to do this ? is jarsigner written in JAVA and if so,
    is the source code available ?
    Thanks in advance

  • How to retrieve null-valued attributes from a LDAP server?

    (I posted this in the ES board but then thought this is more of a programmer's question, sorry for the duplication).
    I am using JNDI api to do search operations on a Java Directory Server( part of SunOne).
    However, I found all the attributes that do not have values are automatically filtered out from the search result.
    NamingEnumeration answer = ctx.search(ctxName, filterExpr, cons);
                   while(answer.hasMore()){
                        SearchResult sr = (SearchResult)answer.next();
                        Attributes attrs = sr.getAttributes();
                        for(NamingEnumeration ne = attrs.getIDs();ne.hasMore();){
                             System.out.println("ids:"+ne.next());
                        System.out.println("-------------------------------------------------------");
                       for (NamingEnumeration ae = sr.getAttributes().getAll(); ae.hasMore();) {
                           Attribute attr = (Attribute)ae.next();
                           System.out.println("attrName:"+attr.getID());
                           //System.out.println("attribute: " + attr.getID());
                           NamingEnumeration e = attr.getAll();
                           while(e.hasMore()){
                                 System.out.println("  attrVal:"+e.next());
                       }Is there anything I did wrong here?
    Here are a couple of things I noticed,
    1. in a Softerra LDAP browser, those no-valued attributes are not present either. But in JXplorer, I can see the full list that includes the attributes that do not have a value.
    2. I had Schema disabled in the server console.
    Thank you in advance.

    There are only two ways to read data from Directory Server:
    1. a. just fetch the entry
    b. display the content
    2. a. fetch the entry
    b. parse the entry and figure what object classes it is of
    c. lookup each object class definition in the schema and retrieve the attribute list
    d. combine the attributes of the entry with all the "possible" attributes of its object classe(s)
    e. display the content
    Here's for an easy example we can relate to:
    I have the following entry in my DS
      cn=the_duuuuuude,dc=forum,dc=sun,dc=com
      objectClass: person
      cn: the_duuuuuude
      sn: arnaudIf you use method 1, you will get just what is stored in the db. That is:
      cn=the_duuuuuude,dc=forum,dc=sun,dc=com
      objectClass: person
      cn: the_duuuuuude
      sn: arnaudif you use method 2, you will get:
      cn=the_duuuuuude,dc=forum,dc=sun,dc=com
      objectClass: person
      cn: the_duuuuuude
      sn: arnaud
      description:

    objectClasses: ( 2.5.6.6 NAME 'person' DESC 'Standard LDAP objectclass' SUP top MUST ( sn $ cn ) MAY ( description $ seeAlso $ telephoneNumber $ userPassword ) X-ORIGIN 'RFC 2256' )Now the important thing to note is that physically in the database, the attributes description, seeAlso, telephoneNumber and userPassword are NOT stored. It's not that they have a 'null' value. They're just not there. It doesn't stop you from looking up the schema.
    Optimally, in your client, you would fetch the whole server schema and cache it so you have to do the extra round trip for every entry you process.
    The difference you observe with various LDAP browsers might simply be that one uses method 1 and the other method 2.
    Hope this helps wrap your mind around this.

    // Close the context when we're done
    ctx.close();
    } catch(javax.naming.NamingException ne) {
         System.err.println("Naming Exception: " + ne);
    } catch(IOException ioe) {
         System.err.println("IO Exception: " + ioe);

    That doesn't work either. It seems its not finding the NamingException class in any of the jar files. I don't know why? Any clues?

  • Retrieving a ref object from complex object table

    Hai All,
    I have problem retrieving a ref object. The scenario is as follows:
    create type typ1 as object (c1 number, c2 varchar2(25));
    create type typ2 as object (c1 number, c2 ref typ1);
    create table tab1 of typ2;
    I generate the java classes using the jpub. When I retrieve the values from the table using the java class, it gives me the null pointer exception.
    typ1Ref r1 = typ2.getC2 ();
    typ1 t1 = r1.getValue ();
    System.out.println ("value: " + t1.getC1 ());
    Above is the code after I have fetched the values in the result set.
    Could anyone help me upon this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Anand

    Sounds like your C2 REF TYP1 attribute may be null. Unfortunately you neglected to say where in your code the NullPointerException occurs.

  • Using LDAP Search to retrieve schema attributes

    When I specify a search filter of (objectClasses=*) nothing is returned. If I specify (objectclass=*) ldapsearch returns the cn=schema object, why doesn't the search filter work for the objectclasses attribute?

    This looks to be by design. Quoting RFC 2251:
    Clients MUST only retrieve attributes from a subschema entry by requesting a base object search of the entry, where the search filter is "(objectClass=subschema)".
    Although the filter objectclass=* works as well.

  • Can not retrieve cell data content From BLOB object.

    I have load Image into Georaster with Raster_Table following:
    create table rdt_1 of mdsys.sdo_raster
    (primary key (rasterId, pyramidLevel, bandBlockNumber,
    rowBlockNumber, columnBlockNumber))
    lob(rasterblock) store as (nocache nologging);
    After I load Image successful, I continue load all cell data into BLOB object by:
    DECLARE
    gr sdo_georaster;
    lb blob;
    BEGIN
    SELECT georaster INTO gr FROM georaster_table WHERE georid=2;
    dbms_lob.createTemporary(lb, FALSE);
    sdo_geor.getRasterData(gr, 0, lb);
    dbms_lob.freeTemporary(lb);
    END;
    Please give me simple PL/SQL to retrieval content from BLOB object!
    Thank You very much!

    BLOB stands for Binary Large OBject. However the acronym has a pleasing affinity with the actual nature of the thing. In a database a BLOB is an undiffereniated mass of bytes. We don't know whether it's a spreadsheet or a word document or an image. So there is no out-of-the-box API for treating a BLOB as it's native file type.
    Having said that there may be something in the Spatial API that works with such things - you might be better off asking the question in Spatial. Although I suspect that venue doesn't get as much through traffic as this one.

  • How to get attribute value from an object inside an object in Xpress

    Does anyone know how to get an attribute value from an object in Xpress in a workflow? I have an object structured as follows:
    <ResourceInfo accountId='mj628' tempId='3483372b787ce7dd:-5d99a0c5:130cb238483:-3600'>
    <ObjectRef type='Resource' name='Google Apps'/>
    </ResourceInfo>
    I need if possible to get the name='Google Apps', which is inside the ObjectRef, so I guess its an attribute value of an object inside an object.

    If the ResourceInfo object is accessible in a variable, i.e. named "myResInfo", you just have to check the Java API and call the relevant method:
    <invoke name='getResourceName'>
      <ref>myResInfo</ref>
    </invoke>
