JDBC Adapter - Sender - Stored Procedure - SQLException Error

Hi,
     I have created one stored procedure in our Oracle database. I give below that stored procedure.
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE sp_stud
IS
    l_row student%ROWTYPE;
    TYPE t_ref_cursor IS REF CURSOR RETURN l_row%TYPE;
    c_cursor t_ref_cursor;
BEGIN
    OPEN c_cursor FOR
     SELECT *
     FROM student where readflag= ' ';
    LOOP
     FETCH c_cursor into l_row;
        EXIT WHEN c_cursor%NOTFOUND;
        DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(l_row.id || ' : ' || l_row.name);
    END LOOP;
close c_cursor;
END;
This is a procedure to retreive rows from the table student which is having the field read_flag = ' '; (Student table contains the fields ID, NAME, BIRTHYEAR, BIRTHMONTH, READFLAG).
In JDBC Sender Adapter, I set the values for the following fields under Parameters tab.
Query SQL Statement: EXECUTE sp_stud
Update SQL Statement: UPDATE student SET readflag = 'Y' where readflag = ' '
The scenario is every 5 minutes JDBC adapter checks the table whether any new row is inserted, if it is inserted and commit, it will send that record to File. This is the Scenario.
In Runtime Workbench, Communication Channel Monitoring, it shows the following error, when JDBC Polls the table.
Database-level error reported by JDBC driver while executing statement 'EXECUTE sp_stud'. The JDBC driver returned the following error message: 'java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00900: invalid SQL statement '. For details, contact your database server vendor.
Note : If we execute the Stored Procedure ad SQL command level, it works fine.
Kindly help friends to solve this, where the error is happened.
Thanking you,
Kind regards,
Jegatheeswaran P.

Hi,
Not a Database expert. But , in case you have not seen the note pointed by Deepu,
<i> The JDK 1.1.x, 1.2 and 1.3 versions (classes111. zip, classes12.zip, classes12.jar) of the driver are not compatible with the SAP XI JDBC Adapter. Use the JDK 1.4 driver (ojdbc14.jar) instead. For details, refer to Oracle MetaLink note # 203849.1.
           <b>Invoking Oracle stored procedures from within a JDBC sender channel is only possible for Oracle DBMS versions >= 10.2.x using so-called table functions:</b>
           Example:
pkg1 -
CREATE PACKAGE pkg1 AS
  TYPE numset_t IS TABLE OF NUMBER;
  FUNCTION f1(x NUMBER) RETURN numset_t PIPELINED;
END pkg1;
CREATE PACKAGE BODY pkg1 AS
-- FUNCTION f1 returns a collection of elements (1,2,3,... x)
FUNCTION f1(x NUMBER) RETURN numset_t PIPELINED IS
  BEGIN
    FOR i IN 1..x LOOP
      PIPE ROW(i);
    END LOOP;
    RETURN;
  END;
END pkg1;
pkg1 -
        <b>   This function has to be invoked from the sender channel configuration (SELECT statement) as follows:
           SELECT * FROM TABLE(pkg1.f1(5));</i></b>
Check this, confirm your Oracle DB version and then use the Table Functions as described in this note.
A Database Expert wil be able to crack this for sure.

  • Sender JDBC Adapter Supports Stored Procedures????

    Dear All,
    I was trying to use the Sender JDBC adapter to call the Stored procedure in the Sender JDBC adapter is possible to do this???
    I don't think Sender JDBC Adapter is supported to execute the Oracle Started Procedures. With my understanding only the Receiver JDBC Adapter will supported for the Stored Procedures using the message mapping Action = EXECUTE and Table = DBO.EmployeeMasterTable.
    Please let me know how to achieve the below scenario.
    My Scenario JDBC to RFC
    Query SQL Statement:
    select * from dbo.emp where flag = 'Insert' or flag = 'Update' or flag = 'Delete'
    Update SQL Statement:
    UPDATE dbo.emp SET flag = null WHERE flag IN ('Insert', 'Update');
    DELETE dbo.emp WHERE flag = 'Delete';
    In the my update statement I need to update few data flag with Insert , Update and need to delete the of the old records as mentioned above the query.
    In the response mapping I am using the Action = INSERT and Table = emp.
    Thanks,
    Jane F.

    Hi Jane,
    >>My requirment is to select from the DB and update and delete needs to be done. How I need to call this stored procedure in Sender JDBC adapter.
    An example of SP call is mentioned in the previous note Note 941317 - XI / PI JDBC Adapter: Known Problems / Incompatibilities
    SP Code
              ---------- pkg1 ----------
    CREATE PACKAGE pkg1 AS
      TYPE numset_t IS TABLE OF NUMBER;
      FUNCTION f1(x NUMBER) RETURN numset_t PIPELINED;
    END pkg1;
    CREATE PACKAGE BODY pkg1 AS
    -- FUNCTION f1 returns a collection of elements (1,2,3,... x)
    FUNCTION f1(x NUMBER) RETURN numset_t PIPELINED IS
      BEGIN
        FOR i IN 1..x LOOP
          PIPE ROW(i);
        END LOOP;
        RETURN;
      END;
    END pkg1;
    In sender channel mention
    >> SELECT * FROM TABLE(pkg1.f1(5));
    >>Is this need to be in the one stored procedure right. Can ou let me know how it should be handled in JDBC Adapter.
    Yes it shoudl be a single SP. Mention a select statement as given in above example.
    What is your Oracle version?

  • XI JDBC Adapter using stored procedures

    Hi
    I am using the JDBC adpapter to call a stored procedure on a SQL database.
    In the adapter configuration I am using 'com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver' as the JDBC Driver parameter and 'jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://LIBOEE01:1433;DatabaseName=DEV_OEE;SelectMethod=cursor;' as the connection string.
    My payload is as follows:

    Hi Kanth,
    Thanks for your response, but the blog by Siva Maranani is actually where I got my code from. Upon further research I think have found the problem as experienced in this blog --> Re: MS SQL Server jdbc Driver installation on XI . There are 2 jar files missing from our SQL JDBC driver --> msbase.jar and msutil.jar, I think once I have added these to the driver it might work. Strange that when you download the driver from microsoft's website that these 2 files are only available in the UNIX download though!

  • Sender JDBC support the stored procedure in SQL Server 2005

    Dear All,
    My question here is , Sender is JDBC adpter support to call the Stored procedure in Microsoft SQL Server 2005?
    I followed the below thread before posting this question
    Sender JDBC Adapter Supports Stored Procedures????
    In the thread Suraj response has mentioned SAP note: 941317, I checked the note, Note says it supported only ORACLE DBMS versions.
    Could you please clarify about this to possibility to call the stored procedure in Microsoft SQL server 2005?
    Thank you in Advance
    Sateesh

    Hi Sateesh,
    To answer your query, Yes it does. SP call works with SQL Server 2005 as well, the SP call should be "execute SPNAME <paramas>". In the place of update statement put any junk value as mentioned in the earlier comment.
    But just one thing to be noted, the select or any other query returning the desired resultset must be the first statement in youre SP returning value to the calling app. Means if there are any update, deletion or intermediate select queries to be used with in your SP, those all should be placed after the Main Select query that returns the desired resultset. Variable declarions and assignments are allowed.
    But if the seq of statements in your SP are like:
    @var1 Varchar
    Update <tablename>....
    Select * from <tablename>
    Then the output of the SP is :
    1 row updated
    <the resultset from select>
    In such cases, PI can recognise the first value returned only, that is "1 row updated" and hence the returned resultset wouldn't be seen by PI or not be passed to integration engine. Hence the update should come after the main Select.
    One more interesting piece of information, even if you copy and paste the entire SP code in place of the query string of Sender JDBC adapter, that too will work with all your variable declarations, multiple queries and updates and everything. Just have to follow the above rule.
    Let us know what you find.

  • JDBC Sender adapter - Oracle - Stored Procedure - Error

    Hello,
    Need few clarifications on JDBC sender adapter and stored procedures when connecting to Oracle DB.
    My scenario is, Oracle to SAPBW. So in sender JDBC adapter, we have used a SP having multiple SQL statements it, esp. one of the SELECT statment having Joins on a table and View.
    My questions are,
    1) Is it possible to have more SQL statements in SP for Sender JDBC?
    2) Is the SP of Oracle DB returns resultset or cursor?
    I have tried in searching the forum perticularly for connecting to Oracle as Sender and below like said  that there is a limitation of XI JDBC when connecting to Oracle.
    Executing an Oracle Stored Procedure from Sender JDBC adapter
    So please clarify the doubts and help me.
    With regards,
    Jilan

    Hi Jilan,
    Unlike what was mentioned in the link given by you that oracle returns cursor and not resultset is not completely true. It may be difficult but certainly not impossible.
    Refer : http://www.enterprisedt.com/publications/oracle/result_set.html

  • DB adapter calling stored procedure and change database schema

    Hello,
    when I create DB adapter which call stored procedure I find that is reference to DB schema in JCA file. Other DB adapter operation (select, insert, delete) store only connection-factory location.
    What happend when I move procedure to another DB schema or rename DB schema?
    It is only about change SchemaName in JCA file?
    Thank you.

    It sounds excelent.
    I try it. Change JCA file and redeploy SCA of service.
    Next I change user in data source (password is the same for both schemas). Save and activate changes. Update deployment of DBAdapter.
    Select operation on service works but return data from old schema.
    Call stored procedure fail with exception:

  • Update in JDBC-Adapter (Send)

    Hallo,
    I´m trying to execute a Update in the JDBC-Adapter (Sender). When a Select-Statement results in exactly one entry back from the data-base I wont to Update this entry.
    How refrencing to the enty (for example by an primary key)? I found only documentation for Receive-JDBC-Adapter...
    Thanks in advance,
    Frank

    Hi Frank,
    At last I get your scenario..
    One solution to your problem can be the following though i am not sure if this is a perfect soultion or a viable solution but, it is a workaround solution which you can surely try.
    1. To update the status of your database on the basis on the events that have taken place, you can configure a JDBC Adapter as a receiver.This JDBC adapter will contain the event and the flag value as well as Update condition.
    Just check this blog and SAP help to understand how JDBC receiver adapter works,
    /people/sap.user72/blog/2005/06/01/file-to-jdbc-adapter-using-sap-xi-30
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/64/ce4e886334ec4ea7c2712e11cc567c/content.htm
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/2e/96fd3f2d14e869e10000000a155106/content.htm
    2. In your JDBC sender adapter that is polling over your DB table, you can give the value for UPDATE as <test>. This means that you are not changing anything even after the adapter has picked up intfo from the table. Ofcourse, you would have to increase the polling interval time as the JDBC receiver has to update the DB.
    I know this solution is a long shot and an added headache but if nothing works out, you can always do it this way.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards,
    Bhavesh.

  • JDBC Receiver Adapter - Call Stored Procedure

    Hi,
    I am using a JDBC receiver adapter to call a stored procedure in oracle.
    My target structure looks like:-
    <STATEMENT>
    <storedProcedureName action="EXECUTE">
    <table>realStoredProcedureName</table>
    <serialDate hasQuot="NO" isInputType="true" type="date">TO_DATE('07-15-2008 08:00:11','MM-DD-YYYY HH24:MI:SS')</serialDate>
    <serialNo isInputType="true" type="NUMERIC">123456</serialNo>
    </storedProcedureName>
    </STATEMENT>
    The storedprocedure takes two input values and has one output value.
    The first parameter of the stored procedure is serialDate and the second input parameter is serialNo.
    I am getting an exception:-
    <SAP:AdditionalText>com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: Error processing request in sax parser: Error when executing statement for table/stored proc. 'storedProcedureName' (structure 'STATEMENT'): java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "TO_DATE('07"</SAP:AdditionalText>
    Any ideas how to fix this issue.
    Thanks.
    Krishnan

    Hi Krishnan,
    <STATEMENT>
    <storedProcedureName action="EXECUTE">
    <table>realStoredProcedureName</table>
    <serialDate hasQuot="NO" isInputType="true" type="date">TO_DATE('07-15-2008 08:00:11','MM-DD-YYYY HH24:MI:SS')</serialDate>
    <serialNo isInputType="true" type="NUMERIC">123456</serialNo>
    </storedProcedureName>
    </STATEMENT>
    The storedprocedure takes two input values and has one output value.
    The first parameter of the stored procedure is serialDate and the second input parameter is serialNo.
    I am getting an exception:-

'storedProcedureName' (structure 'STATEMENT'): java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "TO_DATE('07"</SAP:AdditionalText>
    In the XML structure you cannot use TO_DATE function . Please pass the DATE in the correct format which the Stored procedure can accept .  Get the out put what you expected from TO_DATE function and use that value in the structure.

  • JDBC Control - Calling Stored Procedure

    Hi people,
    I have a big problem calling my procedure by jdbcControl, It might by easy to solve, but I don´t know what is wrong.
    My stored procedure return a Doube value, a key to be used in my system.
    Follow my Oracle procedure definition:

    --A cursor to be returned by oracle
    parms[0] = new JdbcControl.SQLParameter(new Double(0),Types.DOUBLE, JdbcControl.SQLParameter.OUT);

    Hi guys,
    I Talked to my Oracle´s DBA and he give the the following advice:
    We changed the return TYPE.
    The old procedure returned TYPE TCursor_Ret IS REF CURSOR
    And now It return NUMBER
    FUNCTION FNSMS_RET_INVOKE_ID RETURN NUMBER IS
    vRESULT NUMBER;
    vCursor TCURSOR_RET;
    BEGIN
    PRSMS_RET_INVOKE_ID(vCursor);
    FETCH vCursor
    INTO vRESULT;
    RETURN(vRESULT);
    END FNSMS_RET_INVOKE_ID;
    Now I can catch the return value like this:
    select MY_PACKAGE.FNSMS_RET_INVOKE_ID from dual
    Bye bye!!

    return code as ( 0 Or 1) and also specific exception message if its return code as 1.
    Could you suggest me the way by which I can handled this return code and send it back to the Sap PI system then the same thing is directed the to SMTP server for sending mail to consern person.

    The OUT parameters of stored procedure will be returned as response. Where exactly are you facing the proble? Here is a complete walkthourgh

    In your case, you don't want response at sender. Instead you want to mail it. For this you may use BPM to design your scenario with following steps
    Receive (to receive data from sender)
    Send Sync (to stored procedure and get response)
    Send Async (to mail receiver)

  • File to JDBC Scenario using stored procedure Question

    Does anyone have an aswer (or have you seen a Blog that covers it) to the problem of having to do a table refresh before doing inserts in a file 2 jdbc scenario?
    Essentially the details are as follows:
    I have an input file that has all the data for a table (it's a complete table dump) of lets say userdata (username, name, hiredate).
    I need to pass that to an oracle database via stored procedure(s).  But before I start issuing my insert (via insert stored procedure) I have to somehow issue a delete statement to delete all the contents of the table I'm about to update.  I'm on XI 3.0 and aren't sure what the best solution to this may be.
    Again if there is a blog that covers this then if you could point me in that direction it would be great.  Otherwise if anyone has any good ideas it would be appreciated.

    Hi,
    For structure refer this blog..

    Use two <Statement> tags as shown here and there you may have separate tablenames.
