JDBC Dates Problem

I have an Oracle Database in which one of the fields is of type Date. When i try to access this value using the .getDate(int column index) function in the Resultset I do not get the hours and minutes and seconds.They get rounded offf to 0.
I even tried using getObject and then type casting it to java.util.date but still the hours and minutes get rounded off to 00:00:00.
I want the value of hours and minutes and seconds. Please help.........................

IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!! I tried using getTimestamp() on the field and it works.
The column is of type Date but in TOAD it shows me the date as well as the hours and the minutes and the seconds.
thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

• JDBC Date Problem

Hi,
I am calling a SP in Oracle. I have to pass a date but get error.
my date field is like below:
<I_DATE hasQuot="NO" type="DATE">TO_DATE('10/05/31','YY/MM/DD')</I_DATE>
I executed it directly in the DB like above and it worked. But in JDBC it doesnt. The error is below. Any ideas?
com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: Error processing request in sax parser: Error when executing statement for table/stored proc. 'sp_delivery' (structure HEADER): java.lang.IllegalArgumentException

my date field is like below:
<I_DATE hasQuot="NO" type="DATE">TO_DATE('10/05/31','YY/MM/DD')</I_DATE>
I assume that you are using the standard function DateTransform to convert the source date to target-date format.

Abhishek.

• Standalone application can't get JDBC data source from Weblogic 10.3

We have the following configuration :
A Weblogic server 10.3 (default installation).
The server contains a JMS queue (jndi name: "DMQ") and JDBC data sources (jndi names: Oracle thin XA - "dataSource", MS SQL - "dataSource1")
We have built wlfullclient5.jar for Java 1.5 ([http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs103/client/jarbuilder.html#wp1078122]) (according to the docs)
And now we use a test standalone application with the wlfullclient5.jar :
public static void main (String[] args) throws NamingException {
bq. Hashtable<String, String> env = new Hashtable<String, String>(); \\     env.put(Context.+INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY+, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory"); \\     env.put(Context.+PROVIDER_URL+, "http://serv1:7001"); \\     env.put(Context.+SECURITY_CREDENTIALS+, "weblogic"); \\     env.put(Context.+SECURITY_PRINCIPAL+, "weblogic"); \\     InitialContext ic = new InitialContext(env); \\ \\ System.+out+.println("Get DMQ"); \\     ic.lookup("DMQ"); \\ System.+out+.println("Get dataSource"); \\     ic.lookup("dataSource");
bq. System.+out+.println("Get dataSource1"); \\     ic.lookup("dataSource1"); \\ System.+out+.println("Done"); \\

But at the same time the output when connected to WLS 10.0 is :

(so that the test passed)
Could you give me a piece of advice ?

I hit the same problem as yours. This issue is caused by JDK version. The JDK used by Weblogic 10.3 is java 6, while your client program's jdk version is java5. So change the both of them to java 6. This issue will be fixed.
Don't forget to rebuild the wlfullclient.jar which also should be java 6.
Good luck!

• MSSQLServer jdbc connect problem on ODI 11G R2

I have a MS SQL Server jdbc connect problem on ODI 11G R2 / Windows server 2008 64 bits.
Tried, one by one, all versions of Microsoft drivers.
Sqljdbc4.jar copied to : %appdata%\odi\oracledi\userlib\
The Topology connect syntax is :
driver: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
URL : jdbc:sqlserver://<host>:1433
=> All the topology tests end with time-outs.
Installed 10G ODI.
Works with 1.4 java and sqljdbc.jar version 2 jdbc driver.
Times out with version 3 and/or Sqljdbc4.jar + JAVA_HOME & ODI_JAVA_HOME set to 1.6 path.
also tried, with no success (time-outs) on either 10g or 11g :
com.inet.tds.TdsDriver
jdbc:inetdae7://<host>:1433?database=<DB>
same results for :
net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver
jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://<host>:1433
Any suggestions for a fix?
Many thanks in advance.

Hello,
ODI (11g) Studio is certified on Windows 32 bit only, not on 64bit.
However you may still install it and configure ODI Studio to run with a 32 bit java.
Details pls see Master Note For ODI 11g Install Issues And Questions (Doc ID 1214428.1).
To connect to SQL Server:
# Check and make sure the authentication mode of your Microsoft SQL Server Server is set to "SQL Server and Windows" or "Mixed", otherwise Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is unable to connect to the database.
# Before you create the Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) Dataserver in Topology Manager > Physical Architecture, stop all ODI processes, and place the JDBC Driver file in the ODI's userlib and "/drivers" folder.
For ODI Studio (Local No Agent)
%APPDATA%\odi\oracledi\userlib
%APPDATA% is the Windows Application Data directory for the user (usually C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data).
Standalone Agent
ODI_HOME\oracledi\agent\drivers
Note: If you decide to use the DataDirect driver that comes with ODI 11g install/ embedded in ODI 11g
weblogic.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
Then you don't need to worry about this step.
# Make sure that the database is the default database of the user account employed by ODI for connection, and that the password is correct.
# Verify (in your Microsoft SQL Server Server network configuration) that TCP/IP has been enabled on port 1433.
For more details see How To Set Up JDBC Driver Connections For The Microsoft SQL Server For ODI (Doc ID 423914.1)
If you try sqljdbc.jar, you need to configure ODI_JAVA_HOME to jdk1.5
sqljdbc4.jar, jdk1.6 (since ODI 11g requires jdk1.6, I'd suggest sqljdbc4.jar)
More see Compatibility Matrix For Java Machines And JDBC Drivers Used With ODI (Doc ID 807235.1)
Hope that helps other people who run into this,

• Getting JDBC data source from PersistenceUnit

I have an application accessing a database, and am using JPA to read/write/update records in the database.
Some of the database tables use stored procedures to perform complex computations across entire
database tables, and I need to call these stored procedures when I the user does certain operations,
such as cloning an object and all its associated data. To call the stored procedures I use the same
JDBC data source that is used to define the PersistenceUnit.
Is there any way to get that DataSource from the PersistenceUnit?
Since I do not know how to do this I am currently using @Resource DataSource annotations to get the JDBC
datasource. That is ugly because I have the datasource specified in two different places in my code.
Please help!

I hit the same problem as yours. This issue is caused by JDK version. The JDK used by Weblogic 10.3 is java 6, while your client program's jdk version is java5. So change the both of them to java 6. This issue will be fixed.

• Help needed with missing data problem in CRVS2010

We recently upgraded the reporting engine in our product to use Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 (previously engine was CR9). Our quote report, which has numerous subreports and lots of conditional formatting, started losing data when a quote took more than a single page to be printed. We knew the SQL results included the data, but the report was not printing those lines at all or sometimes printing a partial line. In addition, the running total on the report would exclude the lines that were being missed on the next page. In one example submitted by a customer, 3 lines were skipped between pages.
I think I have identified two potential issues that document the possibility of data not being included in the report.
The first potential issue is an issue with the "suppress blank section" option being checked. This issue is supposedly fixed with ADAPT01483793, being released someday with service pack 2 for CRVS2010.
The second potential issue is using shared variables. This issue is supposedly fixed with ADAPT01484308, also targeted for SP2.
Our quote report does not explicitly use shared variables with any of the subreports, but it does have several subreports, each in its own section that has the "supress blank section" option checked. We have other reports that use this feature, as well, and they are not exhibiting the problem.
One different thing about the quote report is that it has a section with multiple suppression options selected. The section has a conditional suppression formula, which controls whether the section is included at all within the report. The section also has the suppress blank section option selected. There are multiple fields within the report that are each conditionally suppressed. In theory, the section's suppress formula could evaluate to true, yet all of the fields within the section are suppressed (due to null values), and then the "suppress blank section" option would kick in.
The missing data only seems to happen when the section is not being suppressed, and at least one of the fields is being included in the report. If I clear the "suppress blank section" check box, and change the section formula to also include the rules applied to the fields in the section, the missing data problem seems to be resolved.
Is this related to ADAPT01483793? Will it be fixed in service pack 2?
If more details are needed, I would be happy to provide a sample report with stored data.

Hi Don,
Have a look at the Record Selection formula in CR Designer ( stand alone ) and when exported to RPT format opening that report in the Designer also.
There's been a few issues with => logic in the record selection formula. It could be you are running into this problem. Look for NOT inserted into your selection formula.
Oh and SP2 is coming out shortly so it may resolve the issue. But if you want you could purchase a support, or if you have a support contract then create a case in SMP and get a rep to work with you to debug the issue.
If you have not try the Trial Version of CR 2011, put it on a VM-ware image or Test PC so you don't corrupt anything for production and have a look at and test it in that designer also. If you purchase a case and it is a bug then you'll get a credit back for the case.

<map_data_source name="mvdemo12"
jdbc_host="127.0.0.1"
jdbc_sid="orcl12c1"
jdbc_port="1522"
jdbc_user="mvdemo"
jdbc_password="7OVl2rJ+hOYxG5T3vKJQb+hW4NPgy9EN"
jdbc_mode="thin"
number_of_mappers="3"
allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi="true"
editable="true"/>
<!--  ****  -->
But it does not work.
After use "sqlplus mvdemo/[email protected]:1522/pdborcl", it connected to the Oracle database 12c.
Does anyone know it?
Thanks,

For 11.1.1.7.1 use the syntax for jdbc_sid, i.e.
//mypdb1.foo.com as described in the README,
- MapViewer native (non-container) data sources can now use database service name in place of SID. To supply a db service name, you will use the same jdbc_sid attribute, but specify the service name with double slashes in front, such as follows:
<map_data_source name="myds"
jdbc_host="foo.com"
jdbc_sid="//mypdb1.foo.com"
jdbc_port="1522"
/>
For 11.1.1.7.0 use a container_ds instead.
i.e. instead of using
<map_data_source name="my_12c_test"
jdbc_host="mydbinstance"
jdbc_sid="pdborcl12c"
jdbc_port="1522"
jdbc_user="mytestuser"
jdbc_password="m2E7T48U3LfRjKwR0YFETQcjNb4gCMLG8/X0KWjO00Q="
jdbc_mode="thin"
number_of_mappers="6"
allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi="false"
editable="false"
/>
use
<map_data_source name="my_12c_test"
container_ds="jdbc/db12c"
number_of_mappers="6"
allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi="false"
editable="false"
/>
In my case the Glassfish 3.1.2.2 JDBC connection pool definition was
Property
url  jdbc:oracle:thin:@mydbinstance:1522/pdborcl12c.rest_of.service.name
Uncheck the Wrap JDBC Objects option in Advanced panel, i.e. the Edit JDBC Connection Pool Advanced properties page.
Add a JDBC resource for that newly created pool
Use that in mapviewerconfig.xml as above

• Using WLST to set up credential mapping on JDBC Data Source

I am wanting to write a script (WLST) to set up a large initial set of credential mappings on a JDBC data source.
I can create the datasource and do all the basic set ups, but I can't figure out how to do the credential mappings.
I tried the "record" option from the Admin console, but it created a script that says that credential mappings are not recorded.
This is the mapping function that you get to from the "Security" tab on the DataSource page, and then the "Credential Mappings" tab. This allows you to map a "WLS user" to a "remote user" - which in my case is an Oracle OLS user.
I am using Weblogic 10.3
Can anyone point me to a set of commands which can perform this function?
Thanks!

I wonder if there isn't a publicly visible MBean for the credential mapping. That would explain why the recorded script doesn't have the mbean method invocations.

• Using JDBC Data Sources with ADFBC, NoInitialContextException

Using JDBC Data Sources with ADF Business Components, NoInitialContextException
I follow the instruction in the link below to create an ADF Swing application using datasource. I am using JDeveloper version 10.1.3.
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/10g/usingdatasources/using_datasources.html
The ADF generated code looks like this:
JUMetaObjectManager.setErrorHandler(new JUErrorHandlerDlg());
JUMetaObjectManager mgr = JUMetaObjectManager.getJUMom();
mgr.setJClientDefFactory(null);
BindingContext ctx = new BindingContext();
ctx.put(DataControlFactory.APP_PARAM_ENV_INFO, new JUEnvInfoProvider());
ctx.setLocaleContext(new DefLocaleContext(null));
HashMap map = new HashMap(4);
map.put(DataControlFactory.APP_PARAMS_BINDING_CONTEXT, ctx);
mgr.loadCpx("datasource.view.DataBindings.cpx" , map);
final FormMain frame = new FormMain();
frame.setBindingContext(ctx);
I got this error when executing the last line: frame.setBindingContext(ctx);

If I configure the application module connection type as JDBC URL, everything works.
If the connection type is JDBC Datasource, I got the above error.
Can someone show me how to adjust the generated code by ADF to use datasource?

ADF BC has a bug. With Data Source in Application Module, application module does not connect. Use JDBC Connection URL.

• How to create JDBC data source w/o LDAP server

I am trying to test using JDBC data source on a computer without a LDAP server. Is there an alterative JNDI solution? How about using file system or RMI registry JNDI service providers?

Any J2EE container should be able to handle that. I use JNDI data sources with Tomcat 4.1.27. I'm sure any other J2EE app server (e.g., WebLogic, WebSphere, JBOSS, etc.) would be able to manage it, too. - MOD
