  • Is there free jdbc type4 driver for oracle?

    i neen to connect to oracle to develop my application, but there's a problem when tryin' to resolve peoblem of character set. in oracle, as i know, it uses unicode that resulting in the font code, which is not falling into the character set of unicode, whould cause failure in translating user defined font code. beside, for i do not know what kind of license that oracle jdbc type4 driver publishes, hope someone are able to tell me wheather there's any software like freetds in sql2000, because, if necessary, i may need to redistrubite the jdbc driver for my own use!
    thanks in advice,

    Oracle has drivers available from their site (free ones) for java and the specific version of Oracle you are running.

    Is there different procedure to install MSSQL JDBC2.0 driver?
    or have i downloaded the wrong driver?
    If any JDBC driver is already deployed on XI server then How to confirm that driver is installed and which version?

  • Hard drive configuration is not set to factory default. Refurbished Acer Iconia W3-810

    This tablet was purchased refurbished.  As soon as I got it, I went to create my backup and message is "Hard drive configuration is not set to the factory default.  Backup aborted.  I had already sent it in once to the seller for repair services and it was sent back not repaired.  They now say I can send it in again but seems a waste of time.  I called Acer and they said I would need to purchase the recovery disk which should have already been provided to me.  It does have a valid SNID number.  I checked.   If there is anyone else who came up against this problem, I would love to know what you did to resolve it.  Second problem.  Large font had been created where is overscans the entire page so reading the Control Panel is impossible.  The warranty dept created a new user account with new settings as they were unable to fix the font problem so they ignored it.  This is another reason I wanted to do a factory reset.  Hoping Acer will be kind enough to just send me the disk.   I've learned alot about refurbished products.  Never again.

     Hard drive configuration is not set to factory default (I had this problem but mine was caused  by some third party partitioning software easeus. I am not pretty entirely sure what was your cause for the error, but I believe this workaround can be useful, even to some of the users)  I learnt a tough lesson and I am now careful on what third party soft wares one must use especially for partitioning related events using windows 8 GPT structure. This article specifically relates to windows 8 (which I was using) although similar steps may work as well in windows 7 Points note:Most newer windows devices now use the GPT partitioning system compared to the traditional MBR system.It can be very difficult to reinstall windows on a partition with GPT format.One must be careful on what 3rd party portioning tools they use. It is not recommend to use some 3rd party tools to resize partitions as these may mess the hard drive configuration in such a way that it will be very difficult to restore to factory settings (especially for devices pre-loaded with OEM-Windows 8)It is recommended to use the in-built Disk management utility to shrink/resize partitions.First and foremost, it is recommended to use system file scanner to check any files that may be corrupted (and most of these are normally fixed by sfc)Press Windows key + X, select ‘Command prompt (Admin)’. Enter the following command “sfc /scannow” (without quotes) and the system will start scanning the system. Wait until it finishes.Now we will proceed to the main fix; here are the set of steps I performed,Run CMD (Admin)Type diskpartType list diskDisk 0 Online 465 GB 19 GB * (an example of how the disk will present)
    Disk 1 Online 22 GB 0 B * Select diskDISKPART> select disk 0 list partitionDISKPART> list partition (Note you see recovery partitions flagged as OEM) So what we do is to set the id according to the GUID (Global Unique Identifier) system.Selected every partition with a OEM typeI changed their ID's to DE94BBA4-06D1-4D40-A16A-BFD50179D6AC (see below)Partition 1 OEM 1000 MB 1024 KB

Now you can try system refresh/reinstall to factory settings (or create a recovery media)*In my case and others I researched on internet, it turns EASEUS partition master was the culprit, please don’t use that software if you don’t know what you are doing. (With all respect to EASEUS) I think this tool is still not configured well to work with the GPT partition format.

  • How can I see KSC5602 character set using JDBC thin driver

    After I change character set from USASCII7 to KO16KSC5601, I
    cannot see korean from the clients
    using JDBC thin driver.
    But, I can see korean clearly using sqlplus at serer, or
    application using SQLNet.
    I use Oracle Enterprise Server 8.0.4.1.0, jdbc thin driver
    8.0.4.0.6 on Windows 98. I read that all bugs realated
    to multibyte language are fixed in Oracle8. What can I do to
    solve this problem?
    PS.server: Oracle 8.0.4.1 on Digital Unix 4.0b, client: jdk1.1.8
    on Windows98. I used the command.
    null

    The easiest thing to do is download it as an archive with your applet.
    Otherwise, you have to have the files on every client machine.
    For netscape, put the classes111.jar in the java classes folder typically:
    c:\ProgramFiles\Netscape\Communicator\Program\java\classes.
    I'd expect that IE would be setup in a similar way.

  • Hard drive configuration is not set to the factory default

    When I go into Acer Recovery Management to try to create a factory default backup I get a pop up that says Hard Drive configuration is not set to the factory default - back up aborted.  How do I get my hard drive set back to factory default?

    Create recovery backup or recovery media and resetting to default are 2 different things. you can create the recovery backup even without resetting to factory default; you just need to start Acer erecovery and follow instructions. it will copy the recovery partition to DVDs or USB flash media.if Acer erecovery is not working and you have Windows 8.x, you can follow this guide:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-usb-recovery-drive about resetting to factory default, the easiest way is to press ALT+F10 at boot and then follow onscreen instructions.

  • XI adapter polling issue & JDBC  / DB2 driver connection timeout properties

    Hello Group,
    We have a long running issue with our XI 7.0 system running on iseries. (V5R3) The issue occuring is that our XI adapters stop polling and the only resolution is to restart the J2EE engine or to resart the adapter framework services.
    We have had several OSS messages open on this subject for over a year and are going round in circles with the a number of different SAP consultants.
    The one topic that we keep coming back to is that we are being asked to set DB2 driver connection timeout properties. We are using the toolbox driver and have upated to the latest JTopen driver, but have not managed to find any inofrmation on how to set the timeout parameter. Does anyone know where the timeout parameter set?
    Has anyone experienced polling issue like this before and how did you resolve?
    SAP referred to the SAP note 1078420 - XI/PI JDBC Adapter: Setting JDBC driver properties for DB which is for Oracle, but this will give an idea of what timeout parameters SAP are asking about.
    Extract of the note is below:-
    Symptom
    This note gives an option to set JDBC driver properties while acquiring a DB connection. When connecting to DB using JDBC adapter there are instances
    where DB connection take a long time to establish connection. Some times call made to Driver will hang permanently. Setting driver properties would resolve this problem.
    More Terms
    Connection timeout, time out, query timeout
    Cause and Prerequisites
    Solution
    In the advanced mode table section of sender channel and receiver channel configurations, we can set driver properties for each DB connection. Any
    such property would have to contain prefix 'driver:'(with out quotes) For example, for Oracle Database JDBC thin driver 10.2.0.3 version, the
    property oracle.jdbc.ReadTimeout helps to set read timeout while reading from the socket. Also for setting login time out in Oracle, we use
    oracle.net.CONNECT_TIMEOUT. To set these two properties use as follows:
    driver:oracle.jdbc.ReadTimeout 1000
    driver:oracle.net.CONNECT_TIMEOUT 1000
    (The TimeOut Driver properties like ReadTimeout and CONNECT_TIMEOUT are in milliseconds)
    Refer to your DB documentation/ JDBC driver documentation on this. Please note that properties can vary from each driver version. For instance, some
    of properties of Oracle JDBC thin Driver 10.2.0.3 properties may not be present in older version drivers. Please contact DB vendor for the complete
    list of driver properties. In addition to above, we also provide another parameter for query time out.
    sqlquerytimeout (prefix 'driver:' is not required) is the parameter that is to be used for SQL query time out. This is case-sensitive and should be
    configured as positive integer value in seconds(greater than 0).
    Any help on this would be much appreciated.
    With regards,
    Steven

    Hello,
    I am not talking about the XI timeouts. But the timeouts which can be used to get the connection timeouts for DB2/AS400 databases.
    So please provide that information.
    THanks,
    soorya

  • Problem in mixing DB2 V8 type4 driver and DB2 V7 type3 driver

    Hello,
    I have an application using CMP on Weblogic server 6.1 SP4. This application connects to 2 datasources on DB2 V7 with a type3 driver.
    One of the Database is migrating to DB2 V8 and we need to use type4 driver.
    Then we have one datasource on DB2 V7 with type3 driver and one on DB2 V8 with type4 driver :
    <JDBCConnectionPool CapacityIncrement="5"
    DriverName="COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.net.DB2Driver"
    InitialCapacity="5"
    MaxCapacity="60" Name="pasrelv3Pool"
    Properties="user=db2pasv3;password=db2pasv3;language=fr_FR"
    RefreshMinutes="5" Targets="pasrelv3Server"
    TestConnectionsOnReserve="true"
         URL="jdbc:db2://db2_srv:60000/PASREL"/>
    <JDBCConnectionPool CapacityIncrement="5"
    DriverName="com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver"
    InitialCapacity="5"
    MaxCapacity="60" Name="pasrelv3ArchiPool"
    Properties="user=db2;password=db2;language=fr_FR"
    RefreshMinutes="5" Targets="pasrelv3Server"
    TestConnectionsOnReserve="true"
    URL="jdbc:db2://db2_srv:50002/E_PRO"/>
    When we start Weblogic , it seems that weblogic.jdbc.common.internal.ConnectionEnvFactory register the type4 driver but try to use type3 for connection (bold code in the following).

    driver classes, but we are calling DriverManager.getDriver(URL)
    to get the driver we use for making connections, and
    unfortunately both the drivers you name take the same
    URL, and the second pool is being given the first driver
    by DriverManager. I suggest making an official support case
    for this. This could be quickly fixed.

    I tried to connect j2ee1.3.1 to sql2000(type4) drivers.
    I am using j2sdke1.4.1 and os is win2k

    thanks for reply.....
    I am presently using clouscape without any problems....
    I have set classpath,default.properties and resource.properties properly and I have put the sql driver jar files in proper j2ee directory and made given the security permission in j2ee server.policy file.
    these r 2 lines I have added in default.properties
    jdbc.drivers=com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    jdbc.datasources=jdbc/sqlserver|jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://MR_T:1433;user=sa;password=sa;databasename=pubs

  • SSL connection with JDBC thin driver

    I am attempting to connect to an instance of Oracle 10.2 using the JDBC thin driver with SSL. I want to use the encryption feature of SSL only, but I can not perform the getConnection on the DataSource without running into an exception. According the JDBC docs, the SSL encryption feature is new for the 10.2 release of the JDBC thin driver, but I have seen no working examples. See http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/java.102/b14355/overvw.htm#CHDIHFBD
    I am using ojdbc14.jar on Java 5.0 using a standalone application, and it fails with an IOException (The network adapter could not establish the connection) (Error code 17002). I even enabled tracing using the ojdbc-g.jar to try to figure out what the REAL problem is, but it was not helpful at determining a root cause. I changed the driver type from "thin" to "oci" (and installed Oracle Instant client for my test machine) and the connection works just fine using the same tnsnames file, the same wallet, and the same cipher suite. From the Java perspective the only thing that changed was four characters -> "thin" became "oci". I am still using password based authentication as I understand that the authentication part of SSL is not supported in the thin driver on 10.2
    Can anyone verify that the SSL encryption works with JDBC thin as advertised? (not the Oracle Net encryption, but rather the one described in Chapter 11 of the JDBC Developer's Guide. See http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/java.102/b14355/sslthin.htm#CHDFEICG
    I really would prefer to avoid using the OCI driver because of its dependencies on the native platform. Is there something special with how the users are created or how the JDBC API should be used? I am setting what I think to be appropriate parameters (oracle.net.wallet_location, oracle.net.cipher_suites) all to no avail. Does anyone have a working example they can provide?

    1) I would suggest posting this question over in the JDBC forum. The folks over there are far more likely to be able to help you.
    2) When you do post this question over there, I would strongly suggest posting some sample code/ configuration scripts so that folks can reproduce your problem on their local machines. That tends to make it far easier to debug the problem and/or to notice if you've missed a step.

  • Mac Pro Drive Configuration - Home User

    Hi all
    I'm trying to determine the 'best' drive configuration for my needs... I'm not a pro-user (although, I do use DVDSP and Motion for some DVDs I make from EyeTV) and so I don't think I want to set up a RAID or anything like that... here's a little background
    I was recently having my MP operate really slowly (in terms of disk paging) because of my boot drive (a Seagate ST3500630AS at 3.AAC) was
    1) Rather full - < 100GB free - lesser impact, I think
    2) Some directory corruption - drive stopped booting from diskarb error
    I was able to resolve the issue by wiping out the drive and it's working much better now.... but the whole thing got me thinking about my config... I had pretty much just been 'slapping' drives in as I needed drive space (I have the shipping 250GB, my old 200GB Seagat, a new ST3500630AS and a FW800 500GB Maxtor)
    I've been doing some reading and it seems that it's optimal to not have one's boot drive have anything but the OS (w VM swap files too, right) and Applications... it seems that the two best options are either a WD 'Raptor' (either 74GB or 150GB) or a Maxtor Maxline III to serve as the boot drive... I understand why the 'Raptor' is a better option (compared to my ST3500630AS - faster RPM) but why is the Maxtor (laying aside the firmware issue on the ST3500630AS)? Is it because the Maxtor's are supposed to be better at handling small files (the OS and the swap files are that, right?)? It seems to me that the 'Raptor' isn't the option I want to choose because I don't think I actually 'need' it... 74GB seems a little small to me (but perhaps not) while the 150GB seems a bit expensive when considering if I even 'need' the 'Raptor'
    I'm anticipating that the Maxtor MaxLine III will be what I want to get for my boot drive... how would I want to back that up? Does it really matter if it's external? Someone had mentioned that you can do it to a disk image but then how do I boot off of that if I have an issue? Or is that just for the purpose of 'snapshotting' the system?
    As I mentioned, I have the ST3500630AS and the external FW800 500GB Maxtor... they're a perfect match in size and I like having access to all of my home data on an external drive... that way if my MP dies (as my old G5s did), I can simply connect my FW drive to my old PBG4 and I'm up and running without a hitch... but I'm a little peeved about the whole firmware thing and the handicapped performance (is there anyway I can address this or should this drive be relegated to a backup status?)...
    Another question - the Seagate's have the new perpendicular technology... it seems to me that people aren't that concerned about it - I thought it was supposed to be a really good thing?
    What would people do in my shoes? If a solution needs more than one additional drive - I am game for ditching my smaller existing SATA drives.... Any and all suggestions would most appreciated...
    Thanks!

    The only real answer to your question is to do what you want. There is no such thing as an "optimal" configuration or "best" drive because what's optimal is dependent upon what you do and need. The best drive depends upon what you want from the drive.
    The Raptors are very fast but also very expensive. About twice the cost of a Maxtor Maxline Pro. However, if you feel the need for speed on your startup drive, then the Raptor is what you want. If you would rather compromise between speed, storage space, and noise then the Maxtor is a good choice. However, Seagate purchased Maxtor some time ago. The Maxtor Maxline Pro drives are being phased out (in the 300 GB and larger sizes) so as not to compete with Seagate's line of products.
    You can find useful benchmark tests on hard drives at http://www.barefeats.com/ and http://www.storagereview.com/.
    Personally, I would configure the system in such a way that you have sufficient storage space on one or two separate drives that can be used to backup the rest of the system. As an example, in my system I use three 300 GB Maxtor Maxline Pros (this system was setup last September.) One drive is used as my main startup drive. The other two are configured as a mirrored RAID. I use the RAID as the backup for the main startup drive. The mirrored RAID provides both backup and redundancy for added data protection. I use backup software (Synchronize! Pro X) to perform automated backups on a daily, weekly (entire Users folder,) and monthly (entire drive) basis.
    Of more importance than drive configuration is maintaining your system for optimal performance:
    Kappy's Personal Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
    For disk repairs use Disk Utility. For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior; DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.0 is now Intel Mac compatible. TechTool Pro provides additional repair options including file repair and recovery, system diagnostics, and disk defragmentation. TechTool Pro 4.5.2 is Intel Mac compatible; Drive Genius is similar to TechTool Pro in terms of the various repair services provided. The current version, 1.5.1, is Intel Mac compatible.
    OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep.
    OS X automatically defrags files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems.
    I would also recommend downloading the shareware utility TinkerTool System that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old logfiles and archives, clearing caches, etc.
    For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack. If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the commandline.
    When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
    Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
    1. Retrospect Desktop (Commercial - not yet universal binary)
    2. Synchronize! Pro X (Commercial)
    3. Synk (Backup, Standard, or Pro)
    4. Deja Vu (Shareware)
    5. PsynchX 2.1.1 and RsyncX 2.1 (Freeware)
    6. Carbon Copy Cloner (Freeware - 3.0 is a Universal Binary)
    7. SuperDuper! (Commercial)
    The following utilities can also be used for backup, but cannot create bootable clones:
    1. Backup (requires a .Mac account with Apple both to get the software and to use it.)
    2. Toast
    3. Impression
    4. arRSync
    Apple's Backup is a full backup tool capable of also backing up across multiple media such as CD/DVD. However, it cannot create bootable backups. It is primarily an "archiving" utility as are the other two.
    Impression and Toast are disk image based backups, only. Particularly useful if you need to backup to CD/DVD across multiple media.
    Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance, optimization, virus protection, and backup and restore.

  • Bug in Oracle JDBC thin driver (parameter order)

    [ I'd preferably send this to some Oracle support email but I
    can't find any on both www.oracle.com and www.technet.com. ]
    The following program illustrates bug I found in JDBC Oracle thin
    driver.
    * Synopsis:
    The parameters of prepared statement (I tested SELECT's and
    UPDATE's) are bound in the reverse order.
    If one do:
    PreparedStatement p = connection.prepareStatement(
    "SELECT field FROM table WHERE first = ? and second = ?");
    and then bind parameter 1 to "a" and parameter to "b":
    p.setString(1, "a");
    p.setString(2, "b");
    then executing p yields the same results as executing
    SELECT field FROM table WHERE first = "b" and second = "a"
    although it should be equivalent to
    SELECT field FROM table WHERE first = "a" and second = "b"
    The bug is present only in "thin" Oracle JDBC driver. Changing
    driver to "oci8" solves the problem.
    * Version and platform info:
    I detected the bug using Oracle 8.0.5 server for Linux.
    According to $ORACLE_HOME/jdbc/README.doc that is
    Oracle JDBC Drivers release 8.0.5.0.0 (Production Release)
    * The program below:
    The program below illustrates the bug by creating dummy two
    column table, inserting the row into it and then selecting
    the contents using prepared statement. Those operations
    are performed on both good (oci8) and bad (thin) connections,
    the results can be compared.
    You may need to change SID, listener port and account data
    in getConnecton calls.
    Sample program output:
    $ javac ShowBug.java; java ShowBug
    Output for both connections should be the same
    --------------- thin Driver ---------------
    [ Non parametrized query: ]
    aaa
    [ The same - parametrized (should give one row): ]
    [ The same - with buggy reversed order (should give no answers):

    [ The same - parametrized (should give one row): ]

    --------------- The end ---------------
    * The program itself

  • Oracle Type4 driver (ojdbc14.jar) connection proble

    Hi,
    I'm trying to connect to my oracle 8i installed in my local machine through type4 driver.
    I've downloaded ojdbc14.jar and included its path to classpath
    The following lines are included in my code
    Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver");
    cn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:scott/tiger@localhost:1521:dbmsConnect ")
    I've created the DSN as follows (in Windows XP)
    Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Data Sources - Add - Took Oracle ODBC Driver - entered DSN name as dbmsConnect -added user id as scott
    When I ran the code, Igot following exception
    Io exception: Connection refused(DESCRIPTION=(TMP=)(VSNNUM=135286784)(ERR=12505)
    (ERROR_STACK=(ERROR=(CODE=12505)(EMFI=4))))
    Could anyone help me please

    You may need a later version of the driver:

  • Oracle Jdbc Thin driver and nls suppot

    Hello,
    I have a hungarian database with nls_lang variable set to hungarian. I'm trying to do a jdbc connection using classes12.zip
    but I'm getting the hungarian characters converted to question marks or other characters.
    I read suggestions that I must include the nls_charset12.zip in my classpath too. So I did that but I'm still having the same problem.
    What is missed??
    How do I get the right hungarian charachters without any conversion.
    This is becoming frustrating and I'm not able to solve it yet.
    Thanks for your help

    One more question -
    Can we use Oracle JDBC OCI driver? We do not have any appletes...
    Does it have firewall issues too? Is there any other driver that
    we can use?
    Thanks,
    Vijaya.
