Jdev 3 with BI beans

When will JDeveloper 10131 will support BI Beans???? Or we cannot expect it from Oracle? Please respond ASAP!! We have a critical project that we need to use BI beans...

There is no plan to migrate the BI Beans wizards to 10.1.3 - they will be there in 11.
You can however use BI Beans in a 10.1.3 application.
See for example sample #88 here:

  • Cannot open a JSf file in jdev with WYSWYG

    HI,
    I startup Jdeveloper 11g studio edition version 11.1.2.3.0 with all features option selected. but I cannot open a *.Jspx file in jdev with WYSWYG showing.
    anyone can give help?

    Hi,experts,
    In jdev 11.1.2.3,
    I come up with this problem again:
    In order to improve performance for jdev, i open the Manage Features for Studio Developer(ALL Features) Role, and deselect some features:
    -Database Modeling
    -EJB Modeling
    -Team Productivity Center
    -Version Control
    -Web Services
    -ADF Mobile Browser
    Then after restart jdev,
    Jsf pages cannot see in WYSIWYG mode in Designer viewer.
    only see a component-structured tree but in text style in jdev in designer view
    Even I reinstall jdev, the problem remains.
    Can anyone give any help?
    Thanks.

  • Handling BLOBs with CMP Beans

    Hi,
    is there a detailed example how to handle Blob's with CMP Beans?
    I'm trying to store some images in a database (Oracle 9i) using CMP Beans and Oracle iAS 9.03 and jdk 1.4.
    Thanks in advance
    Jens

    We are currently developing a How-To on this and will put this on OTN.
    1) Code snippet from Bean Class:
    public abstract byte[] getPicture();
    public abstract void setPicture(byte[] newPicture);
    public Long ejbCreate(Long empno, byte[] newPicture)
    setEmpno(empno);
    setPicture(newPicture);
    return empno;
    public void ejbPostCreate(Long empno, byte[] newPicture)
    2) Mapping in the orion-ejb-jar.xml:
    <entity-deployment name="EmployeePicture" data-source="jdbc/OracleDS" table="EMPPIC">
    <primkey-mapping>
    <cmp-field-mapping name="empno" persistence-name="EMPNO" persistence-type="NUMBER(8)"/>
    </primkey-mapping>
    <cmp-field-mapping name="empno" persistence-name="EMPNO" persistence-type="NUMBER(8)"/>
    <cmp-field-mapping name="picture" persistence-name="PICTURE" persistence-type="BLOB(4000)"/>
    </entity-deployment>
    3) Create the client to create the bean:
    Long empNo =(Long) Long.valueOf(request.getParameter("EmpNo"));
    String fileName =request.getParameter("ImageFileName");
    InputStream is = new BufferedInputStream(new FileInputStream(fileName));
    int len;
    // Initialize byte array
    byte byteValue[] = new byte[2048000];
    len = is.read(byteValue);
    EmployeePictureLocal employeePicture = empHome.create(empNo , byteValue);
    out.println("Picture of Emp#:"+empNo +" successfully Loaded into DB <br> <br>");
    4) Code snippet to view the image :
    Long empNo =(Long) Long.valueOf(request.getParameter("EmpNo"));
    out.println("Picture of Emp#"+empNo);
    EmployeePictureLocal emp = empHome.findByPrimaryKey(empNo);
    response.setContentType("image/jpeg");
    OutputStream os = null;
    os = response.getOutputStream() ;
    byte[] pic = emp.getPicture();
         os.write(pic);
    os.close();
    os = null;
    Let me know if this helps
    thanks

  • Deployment problem sdk 1.4 with entity bean

    hallo!
    i have a big problem with the j2ee sdk 1.4. when i want to add an entity bean to my ear-file, everything goes good, but when i put the sql-ql for the finder-method and save the file i got an error like this
    xxxxxxx.ear is corrupt or cannot be read
    when i dont save and will show the descriptor it generates an empty descriptor for this entity bean.
    the problem is, that the deployment tool cannot generate the deployment desciptor for entity beans. with session bean there was no problems.
    hope somebody can help me.
    thanks

    There's bug in non-U.S. locales. The workaround is described in this thread:

  • Problems with managed beans on included JSPs

    I've got a problem with managed beans within an included JSP
    The included page looks as follows:
    <f:subview id="includedPage" binding="#{testBean.component}">
         <h:outputText value="Hallo from the included page"/>
         <h:outputText value="#{testBean.msg}" />

    <f:view>
         <html>
              <head>
                   <title>Test include</title>
              </head>

                   <h:outputText value="Hello from the including page"/>
                   <jsp:include page="included.jsp"/>
              </body>
         </html>
    </f:view>The testBean is a managed bean with page scope and looks as follows:
    public class TestBean {
        public UIComponent fComponent;
        public TestBean() {
            System.out.println("TestBean Constructor called " + toString() );
        public String getMsg() {
            return "Component = " + fComponent ;
        public void setComponent(UIComponent component) {
            System.out.println("setComponent called " + component);
            fComponent = component;
        public UIComponent getComponent() {
            System.out.println("getComponent called " + fComponent);
            return fComponent;
    }The output to the console is:
    TestBean Constructor called de.kvb.athena.web.beans.TestBean@1bc16f0
    getComponent called null
    TestBean Constructor called de.kvb.athena.web.beans.TestBean@18622f3
    setComponent called javax.faces.component.UINamingContainer@160877b
    TestBean Constructor called de.kvb.athena.web.beans.TestBean@5eb489
    and the page displays
    Hello from the include page
    Hello from the included page Component = null
    Can anyone explain this behavior ? What's the reason that the page displays
    Component = null
    and is it possible to display the parent naming container (subview) this way ?
    how ?
    Thanks

    By "page scope" I assume you mean "none"? If so JSF creates a new bean for each place it's referenced. The closest to the behavior you want, once per "page", is really request scope.
    (I'm not sure why the constructor is being called thrice, though. I should look into this.)
    I assume you want a bean-per-subview scenario. This should be doable, and one way that allows a dynamic number of subviews would be as follows:
    --create a "manager" bean in request scope
    --give it get/set methods that retrieves a Map of "TestBean" instances; the idea is that each subview use a different key "s1", "s2", etc
    back the manager method with Map implementation that checks if there's already a TestBean associated with the key returns it if yes, else null.
    If that seems messy, the component solution is hairy :-) See http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=568937&messageID=2812561

  • JSP tag collaboration with BI Beans

    Hello!
    We need to reorganize a dimension hierarchy in runtime during presentation. It's merely a matter of formatting. We use a tag handler that reeds its body doing some operations and puts a new content for body in page.
    We tried this
    ====================
    <My:BodyReaderTag>
    <orabi:ListCombo renderAs="combo" autoSubmit="true" biList="${tagtest_dimMemList1_data}"/>
    </My:BodyReaderTag>
    ====================
    When doing this my tag grabs all content except the output from orabi:ListCombo. It seems like orabi:ListCombo does not push the JspWriter on the stack (by collaboration with orabi:BIBody tag). When, for testing purposes only, I removed the orabi:BIBody tag, I got the result I would like to get.
    How can I get the output from orabi:ListCombo tag? Or if that is not possible, where can I find detailed information so I can create my own customized tag handlers that collaborates with BI Beans,
    Thanks in advance,
    Mats

    The implementation of the <orabi:ListCombo> is based on UIX JSP tags technology. It uses an instance of oracle.cabo.ui.RenderingContext created earlier by the BIThinSession tag to do the actually rendering.
    May I ask what are you trying to do with the <my:reformatter> tag? The ListCombo tag has attributes like "styleClass" and "inlineStyle" that can be used customize the look and feel of the content it renders. Also, we provide a set of built-in styles. Have you looked into whether you can use "styleClass" or "inlineStyle" attributes to satisfy your formatting needs?
    Hope this helps,
    Keith

    I have an Entity Bean with a business method getName() to retrieve a name field in the EJB.
    I understand that in order to cach data, I have to set the NOT_SUPPORTED transaction attr for this method. In this way, when this method is called, the ejbReload() is not called and the data is retreived from the EJB ready instance (and not from the database).
    Is it true and is it the good way to use the cach mechanism ?
    Now if we consider that this instance is the only one in the ready stage, and it is never pooled (it seems so !), what about a modification of the database from a tier (or from an other EB instance)? The Entity Bean is not able to see this modification seence it does not call the ejbLoad method.
    Is there a way to force an Entity Bean to be periodically polled in order to recover data from the data store when activated ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Thierry

    No, This is wrong way of doing what you want. Most of the application servers provide various configuration settings for this. Eg. caching mechanism, interval on when to call ejbLoad and ejbStore, read only beans. You have to check the documentation for this.

  • DB Version non compatible with BI Beans

    I have Oracle Database 10g 10.1.0.2
    and I'm traying to work with:
    JDeveloper 10g (10.1.2.1, Build 1913) and
    BI Beans 10.1.2.1
    or
    JDeveloper 10g (10.1.2, build 1811) and
    BI Beans 10.1.2
    but the BI Beans give an error BIB-16633, did this version compatible with each other? and with database? or have I to download a patch? and for upgrade what?
    Please someone help me.
    Thanks in advance.

    You must apply the 10.1.0.4 database patch. This will upgrade your OLAP schema to the latest version and make the schema compliant with BI Beans. You can download the database from Metalink.
    Hope this helps,
    Keith

  • Replace VBX Control with Java Bean

    Hi All,
    While compiling 6i forms in 10g I got this error of VBX Control (Obsolete)
    The document says replace it with JavaBeans.
    I don’t know how to replace a VBS Control with Java Bean but this is what I did, I selected the item type as Bean Area.
    But the item do have a trigger
    begin
    control_lib.when_tab_changed(:control.tab_ctl)
    end
    The Package CONTROL_LIB is coded as below.
    Will this code work, technically I think yes, but its always better to ask experts before I move this to test...
    package body control_lib is
    g_tab_id number := 0
    procedure when_tab_changed
    (p_tab_id number) is
    l_err_txt varchar2(255);
    begin
    if :system.block_status != 'QUERY' then
    if not good_quiet_post(l_err_txt) then
    raise form_trigger_failure;
    end if
    end if
    if p_tab_id = 0 then
    rpt_ln_lib.new_tab;
    elsif p_tab_id = 1 then
    stat_lib.new_tab;
    elsif p_tab_id = 2 then
    per_acc_rl_lib.new_tab;
    end if
    g_tab_id := p_tab_id
    exception
    when form_trigger_failure then
    :control.tab_ctl := g_tab_id
    synchronize
    end when_tab_changed
    Thanks to all.
    Habeeb

    A Java bean is another technology than VBX control.
    If some document says: Replace it with java bean it certainly means to use a similar java bean with a similar functionality.
    I do not know a java bean, which runs VBX controls.
    So you surely have to look at what yout VBX does an than to look after a proper java bean (or to write an own one).

  • Update Multiple Rows with Form Beans

    Hi,
    I'm trying to update variable number of rows at once in an EJB with form beans and pageflow in Weblogic Workshop. Is this possible? If so, how?
    Thanks!
    Will

    ... if your table does not contain exactly what you expect you could get:
    'single row sub-query returns more than one row'
    To prevent that, put a unique index on (name, version). If this combination is not always unique, you will need to cater for the possibility in the update statement.

  • Modify data in a cube with bi beans (ROLAP)

    Hi,
    I have put a setCellEditingAllowed(true) on my matrix
    but nothing happend when i change a value.
    Can i modify data of my database (ROLAP cube) with BI Beans?
    Thanks
    Yann

    Here is some information that may help you:
    If your want to use the Crosstab or Table Bean on a Java client, there are a few things to keep in mind. There is a GridView boolean property, CellEditingAllowed, that controls whether the Crosstab or Table Beans provide cell-level editing GUI in the Databody. For example, if you have a Crosstab instance m_crosstab, you can run the following code to turn on editing:
    m_crosstab.setCellEditingAllowed(true);
    When the Java client Crosstab or Table goes to write back the value, it calls the setValue method on the underlying DataAccess instance. If you are implementing your own data source, you can hook your custom code into your implementation of setValue. You can also consider implementing the setAutoSubmit, isAutoSubmit, submitChanges, and dropChanges methods in the oracle.dss.util.DataAccess interface if your application needs to provide bulk updates.
    If you are working with our OLAP implementation, then you can retrieve the Crosstab's DataSource property (of type oracle.dss.util.dataSource), cast it to an oracle.dss.dataSource.common.Query instance (i.e., our OLAP implementation), and then add yourself as a QueryListener. The QueryListener will get a CellsSubmittingEvent with the list of updates to be processed. You'll find the various classes and interfaces in the JavaDoc for the oracle.dss.dataSource.common package.
    In our current release, the OLAP implementation does not fire a CellsSubmittedEvent because the OLAP Data Source does not support writeback to the underlying data store. We are looking at providing native writeback support for Analytic Workspaces in a later release.

  • JDEV with OAF on Linux

    This is a replica of Aug 3rd question to which I had no reply. I put my last name also this time, may be this will help.
    Does Oracle OAF team has a dowloadable distribution of JDEV with OAF for LINUX. All that I have seen so far through metalink patches were for Windows.
    Thank you.
    Anatoliy Smirnov

    This patch was available under generic platform, now i see that the option is removed from metalink.
    This path was available, we are using it in one of our instances.
    Let me talk to the DBA here and understand how to get the path now from oracle.
    And patch number need not necessarily be 7 digits, it can be 6 digits as well.
    Thanks
