JDeveloper 11, Business Rules availability

Hello,
I'd like to test Business Rules 11 functionalityfor our poject. What I've seen so far in viewlets looks a lot better then the Business 10 version. We are in the process evaluating what Business Rule Engine to take.
In JDeveloper 11 I'm not able to find Business Rules. Also SOA Application component types like BPEL and ESB are not available.
What do I need to do to test the 11 version of the Business Rules?
Regards Léon Smiers

The SOA/Rules extensions for JDeveloper 11g are still not production - they will be later this year.
In the meantime you can play with JDeveloper 11g TP4 which has an early version of the 11g SOA parts:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/jdev/htdocs/soft11tp.html
(Note that you'll need to follow instructions in a metalink note to enable the SOA parts).

Try restarting both Planning and the RMI services.
After the services has been restarted.
Log into Planning and go to Business Rules through Planning.
Check that you can see the business rules available via Planning.
Now try logging into EAS and associating a business rule to the planning outline.

Why these features are missing, to get those additional features what I have to do.. ? Please suggest your best for me.
Also Is it possible to build business rules from java sdk & from rule author..? If so means what is the difference, which one is having advantage.

  • Unable to find Business Rules in the JDeveloper while creating new project

    Hi All,
I am going through the chapter 9 Creating a Rule-enabled Non-SOA Java EE Application for JDevloper 11g. I am following the instruction given in the chapter.
However I am unable to find a Business Rules category for creating a Business rules directory.
Probably it has to be activated from somewhere.
I tried searching its significance with JDev installation but haven't got anything.
It seems very basic level problem, however...Please let me know if anybody knows how to solve it
    Thanks,
    Makarand.

Did you install the SOA extension for JDeveloper from the help->check for updates?

  • Business Rule error: Accounts are not available in the rule table

    Hi everybody,
I have a problem running the Business Rule for the profit/loss copy to the equity account.
The Business Rule I set reads from all P&L accounts, P&L specific flow, acual category, all datasources and then it writes everything keeping the source settings apart from the account destination (the equity profit/loss account) and the flow destination (I write in two different flows, so the rule is made up of two equal lines differing only in the flow destination). "PROFIT" is the ID I chose.
Then I created the related script logic (ID=CALCACCOUNT):
    *RUN_PROGRAM CALC_ACCOUNT
    CATEGORY_M = %CATEGORY_M_SET%
    CURRENCYLABEL = %CURRENCYLABEL_SET%
    TID_RA = %TIME_SET%
    CALC=PROFIT
    *ENDRUN_PROGRAM
Finally, the prompt ( process chain: CPMB/RUNCALCACCOUNT):
    PROMPT(SELECTINPUT,,,,"CATEGORY_M,CURRENCYLABEL,TIME")
    TASK(/CPMB/RUNCALCACCOUNT_LOGIC,SUSER,%USER%)
    TASK(/CPMB/RUNCALCACCOUNT_LOGIC,SAPPSET,%APPSET%)
    TASK(/CPMB/RUNCALCACCOUNT_LOGIC,SAPP,%APP%)
    TASK(/CPMB/RUNCALCACCOUNT_LOGIC,SELECTION,%SELECTION%)
    TASK(/CPMB/RUNCALCACCOUNT_LOGIC,LOGICFILENAME,CALCACCOUNT.LGF)
But anytime I run the package it fails giving me the message error: "Accounts are not available in the rule table".
I tried every possible change but nothing; if someone could help me somehow I'd be really grateful!!
    Thanks
    Filippo

    Hi James,
Thanks for your quick response. There is no currency dimension in the application... I've tested with the correct businessrule as CALC value, but this didn't do the trick.
    Any other suggestions?

  • How to deploy Oracel Business Rule (11 TP4) from within JDeveloper?

    Hello,
I'm testing the Oracle Business Rules functionality provided in JDeveloper 11TP4.
Development looks nice. I'd like to test the rules, wether it be from within a Java Class or as a Web Service.
    - How can I test the Business Rule 11G in Jdev TP4?
    - How can I deploy the Business Rules to an Application Server?
    Who's got ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards Léon Smiers

    Leon,
Try the business rules sample for TP4. It includes instructions on how to build the rule and deploy it from JDev.

  • Oracle Business Rules SDK and Jdeveloper Plugin

    1. I am trying to locate Oracle Business Rules SDK for download to evaluate the package for a non-SOA, java EE application.
    2. I am also trying to locate a plugin for JDeveloper to create OBR rules.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

No, not in 10.1.3 and not in the first planned 11 release. It is on the list of candidate features for future releases.

  • Business Rules not available in Planning

I logged into EAS console and created a business rule against my planning outline. It validated properly and even runs properly from the EAS console (changes data as expected).
But when I log into Planning to assign this rule to a form the business rule is not listed either under the TOOLS > Business rules menu option or under the Business Rules Tab in Form editor.
What do I need to do to get this business rule into Planning?

    I am on 9.3.1.
I have 2 servers, the essbase (hy01) and the planning (hy06). When logging into EAS I usually select the essbase server to log into (hy01). I created 1 business rule while logged into hy01 and it appeared when I logged into planning through workspace. I associated that BR with the outline hy06/AppName/DBname and used that as the location as well.
After that business rule was a grand success if I log into hy01 when logging onto EAS and then try to expand the BR node I get a "Error logging in to Business Rules. The repository has not been configured or you are not authorized to use Business Rules."
But I can log into EAS using hy06 and access the business rules just fine (including the original one). But every business rule I have created since then does not show up into planning.
So, in retrospect, I guess my question might be why can't I use Business Rules when logging into EAS through the Essbase server (hy01) but have full functionality when logging in through planning server (hy06) except for being able to then see the business rules I create in Planning through Workspace?
I am logged in as admin and no permissions have changed.

  • Jdeveloper/Business Rules exception: Now you see it, now you don't

    Hi all,
odd thing happened to me yesterday. I'm doing a business rules proof of concept and came across a 'MultipleDefinitionException' when running unit a test function. I fixed the xml used to define my facts (or so I thought) but the problem persisted. I spent the afternoon reloading facts/JaxB, rebuilding the application, adding and deleting and readding the offending statement in my function, but admitted defeat and shut down my PC in disgust.
I came in this morning and - Lo and behold! - the problem has disappeared! I can't even post you a stack trace. But I don't think that the error per se is the problem here.
Has anyone seen this behavior before? Am I missing something fundamental?
    Using Jdev 11.1.1.5.0
    Thanks,
    Rory

    Glenn,
Glad that worked in your version. You probably can turn the date imprint off in the various cameras for the future but healing or cloning is the only way I know to get rid of it once it's there.

  • Creating simple Business Rules in BPEL process

    Hi,
I have an environment consisting of SOA Suite 11g running on Weblogic Server. I'm using JDeveloper 11g for development.
    Scenario
I have a BPEL process which starts off by polling a DB table and I then assign the input to a Recieve activity's InputVariable. I have a 'Number' column which will contain a number between 1 and 3. I then require Business Rules (BR) to be set up which read this value, and based on the number, assign a 'Name' string (which is to be the output variable from the business rules) to be used later on in BPEL process.
Problem - I have followed the basic tutorials available in order to set up the business rules, but am getting numerous errors. Firstly, I sometimes find that my input/output variables created during setup of BR component and the XSD based on this, does not have XML Faces automatically created for it (therefore have to create it myself by clicking on the + button and doing this for each element of XSD). When I do get this working, I then double-click on my Business Rules activity in my BPEL process, only to find that the input/output variables here no longer are assignable to my BR input/output variables as I get the following error "Exception: Problem Building Schema!".
I am not sure why this is, but suspect that my XSD (which is very simple anyway) or the setup steps I follow to define the link to my XSD, are wrong.
I have taken the following steps so far:
    1. Create empty BPEL process
    2. Set up polling adapter to poll DB table
    3. Create Receive activity and assigned polled input to created variable
    4. Add Business Rules component to composite and set up and create dictionary here. Also set up inputs/outputs to be in form of my XSD elements.
    5. Add Business Rules component to my BPEL process and configure this to include input/output variables (*This is where error occurs*)
    6. Go back to .rules component in composite to define rule and define rule
Upon deployment, I get many errors most of which pertain to "Unresolved XML element... make sure XML element +xxxxx+ is defined in one of WSDL's that are referenced by the deployment descriptor."
I have only imported a simple XSD containing two elements to this project. The other XSD is the one of my polling adapter. I've not created any input/output variables for the overall BPEL process as didn't think I was required to.
Can you please help in getting this process doing the simple activities described at the top.
    I appreciate your help.

    Hi,
Create a project with BPEL composite
    Now drag a business rule
Now create input variable of type ur requestelement
and output variable of type response element
Now in rules designer page take decision table
and then craete a condition (inputelement.input > 1000) and in the rule select true
now create another rule select false
Npw create an action with assertion and select the parameterized box there
now in designer page for first rule assign some value (say 500) and for second rule some value(100)
Now in bpel u have to assign a value to input var of BR
    Deploy the process
    If u supply 10000 u will get 500
    if u supply 100 u will get 100
In the same way u can do by using If-Then
You can use facts and bucketsets according to ur requirement

  • Executing a Specific RuleSet within a Dictionary on Oracle Business Rules

    Good Day,
How does one explicitly execute a specific ruleset in a Oracle Business Rules dictionary?
While using the Business Rules Component inside our composite application(in JDeveloper), the only options available are:
    · Service: Decision Service name
    · Dictionary Name: The name of the dictionary that you want to use.
    · Name: Business rules component name.
There is no section where we can select to execute only a specific rule set within a dictionary.
Is this fuctionality not supported or is there a way around this, where we could be able to execute a specific ruleset within a dictionary?
    kind regards

You get to choose the option of the Rule Dictionary When dragging in BPEL, if you have already built the bpel process with the rules call, you can do the following
--> Open the .rules file in the Jdev
--> Go to the Decision Fucntions Tab
--> Select the decision function in the list( by default there would be only one)
--> click on the edit icon
--> In the bottom you would get to select the Rule Sets you want to be included in this function call(BusinessRulesSets to be included as part of the call)
--> This would cater your requirement.
    Regards,
    Ajay

  • Slow Performance with Business Rules

    Hello,
Has anyone ever had slow performance with business rules? For example, I attached a calc script to a form and it ran for 20 seconds. I made an exact replica of the calc script in a business rules and it took 30 seconds to run. Also, when creating / modifying business rules in EAS it takes a long time to open or save or attach security - any ideas on things to improve this performance?
    Thanks!

If you are having issues with performance of assigning access then I am sure there was patch available, it was either a HSS patch or planning patch.
    Cheers

and after passing the parameter it will give unable to find the decision service WSDL file.
