JDeveloper: Display Field as in 10g Forms

Dear All,
I am new in JDeveloper 11g ADF. I have worked in 10g forms and reports and pl/sql and plaining to shift in JDeveloper 11g ADF. I have developed a ADF application and places the table as ADF Forms now I want to place a display field in that grid display result of that record as I do in 10g forms in Post Query or Post Change trigger
sorry for bad English. I shall be very thank full to you
Regards,
Zafar Iqbal

Can you post some images - what you have in ADF currently and what kind of look and feel you want. That will get you quicker help than us guessing what you require :)

  • Setting values for non-displayed fields on a Tabular Form

    I'm having a problem setting non-displayed fields on the same table as displayed fields like last_update_date, last_updated_by, id's and other fields when creating new records or updating existing records in a Tabular form.
    What is the best and easiest way to set these values without using database triggers?

    Hi Jes,
    I'm a little reluctant to use database triggers as I used this product a couple of years ago and I'm fairly sure I handled this problem in HTML DB without the use of triggers. I am therefore I'm getting a touch frustrated that I can't remember how to do it now !!
    Do you know of any way of setting values for non-displayed fields on a Tabular Form without using database triggers?
    Also, you seem to be suggesting that database triggers is the best way to do this?
    Thanks

  • Displaying Where Dialog Box in Forms 10g at runtime

    hi all,
    In Forms 6i, I was able to display the Where Dialog box to define complex search conditions by entering <b>:variable_name</b> in a field.
    How can I do the same in Oracle 10g Forms at runtime?
    thanks in advance.

    Have you had a look at metalink note 370302.1?
    Symptoms Query/Where dialog does not come up when execute query on block entering '&' or ':' in a field.
    ChangesUpgrade to Forms 10.1.2.0.2 Cause In order to be more secure out of the box, a new parameter was introduced
    FORMS_RESTRICT_ENTER_QUERY to TRUE in default.env and this results in the query/where dialog not appearing.
    SolutionTo implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
    1. Edit $ORACLE_HOME/forms/server/default.env
    2. Comment the line as :

  • Display Images using READ_IMAGE_FILE in 10g forms

    Hello all, i have a simple question that I'm trying to resolve really quick.
    I've created a field on a form in 10g forms that is of IMAGE type. I've given it a name and has given it a FILE_TYPE of GIF.
    I've put some code in a POST-QUERY trigger of a block that calls the READ_IMAGE_FILE command, where I enter the filename, file_type, and block.item name. When I leave the path off the image name, forms runtime acts like it cannot find it. I get an FRM message displayed at runtime that says it "Cannot read image file". However, if I put the full path (like something pointing to a hard-coded directory on my C drive where the image file resides), the image displays fine at runtime.
    I added the images to my JAR file where I have other images stored so they get opened at runtime under the ORACLE_HOME/forms/java directory. I was thinking that when I gave the filename, runtime would know to pull it out of there. But obviously, that's not what is happening.
    Has anyone got ideas on what I could do to get the READ_IMAGE_FILE to display the image without hard-coding a path in?
    Any help is appreciated!
    Regards,
    Chris

    Here are some things to check:
    1) Alll the images in the JAR file should have the same extension
    2) In formsweb.cfg, include the JAR file in the ARCHIVE parameter and set imageBase=codebase
    3) In registry.dat, leave iconpath blank and set iconextension=gif
    4) In your READ_IMAGE_FILE call, use URL as the file type and don't use the extension on the file name. So if the image in your JAR is my_picture.gif, it would be something like READ_IMAGE_FILE('my_picture','URL','myblock.my_image_item');
    If it still doesn't work, enable the Java console and when it comes up, enter the number 5 in the console to enable the highest level of logging. Then have a look at the console to see if the JAR is getting downloaded and where it's attempting to read the image from.

  • 10G-Form: How to add Email-id to the To: field in the Outlook?

    I am using 10G DB + 10G Form Builder.
    I've 'email_item' field in table where I am storing email-ids.
    I m displaying 'email_item' field and 'Send_Email_button' in the form.
    I want to add (copy) the exact email-id that has been displayed on the form to the To: field in the Outlook.
    Means whatever Email got displayed in the 'email_item' field, I want to add this Email automatically.
    I do not want to type manually the email-id of the person in the To: field of the Outlook like I am using rt. now as:
    WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger code=
    WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT ('mailto:hard_coded_value_of_email?subject=Testing%20Email: &body=Please%20check............');
    Pl help me.

    Hi,
    For getting the email ID you can write a java code using the Iuser Interface. Have look to the following:
    public class UseremailID extends AbstractPortalComponent
    public void doContent(
    IPortalComponentRequest request,
    IPortalComponentResponse response)
    try
    IUserFactory userfactory = UMFactory.getUserFactory();
    IUserSearchFilter userfltr = userfactory.getUserSearchFilter();
    userfltr.setMaxSearchResultSize(5000);
    ISearchResult userResult = userfactory.searchUsers(userfltr);
    while (userResult.hasNext())
    response.write("<table border=0>\n");
    String uniqueid = (String) userResult.next();
    IUser user = userfactory.getUser(uniqueid);
    //IRole role = rolefactory.getRole(uniqueid);
    response.write("<tr><td bgcolor=Red>"+ user.getDisplayName()+ "</td></tr>\n");
    response.write("<tr><td bgcolor=Green>"+ user.getEmail()+ "</td></tr>\n");
    response.write("</table>\n");
    response.write("
    \n");
    catch (Exception e)
    for analyzing the error you just need to check the log file at your server. Visit the following path:
    <Your_SAP_Drive> :/usr/sap/<your_System_Name>/jc00/j2ee/cluster/server0/log/
    There you can view the .trc file. Open that file and look for the error or the Stack trace in that.

  • Having one field display the text of a different field in a statis form

    Hi All--
    My goal is to pull back a single value and display it in two fields, using a static form and formhandler. When a co-worker had both fields with the binding used to retrieve the value, he found that the population for the field was getting garbled, and not displaying what we needed or had pointed at. My proposed solution is to retrieve the data once using a binding, then have the 2nd field populate basedon what content is in the first... but I don't know how to do this. Any assistance would, as always, be appreciated. Thanks!

    Certainly binding two fields to a single value in the data is acceptable. I have done that many times without issue. Can you try it and verify that you are having an issue? If it is still happening can you provide the template and a sample data file?

  • Data fields selected in a form are not displaying

    I have selected "Size" & "Outlook Data File" as 2 fields that I need to see on the front tab of all my contacts.  In testing to see if it works I opened a new contact (blank).  Upon it trying to open I get the same error
    twice  "The Property does not exist.  The field you want to modify does not exist for this type of item."  I don't want to modify these two fields, just display them.  I chose the same field names in the forms developer/design
    area as when I added the field as a display cols. in a simple list of contacts (e.g. phone book).  So it works in Viewing a list but I can't see these 2 fields when I add them to a form.  More precisely the labels show, "0" shows as the
    size and blank in the other display field.

    Hi Steve,
    Situation:  Through the yrs I've had multiple email domains.   I've discovered that as I opened and edited contacts they did not always save to my main contact  (.pst) I want to consolidate my contacts to my new one.
    If I open the same email address from 3-5 different .pst & now MSX too, I want to know which file (domain) they are being displayed from so I don't necessarily have to ck every field to know if I can simply delete one or if I have to go field
    by field to do a merge.  Secondly, I've found that some contacts from older domains never got to my current .MSX so I'm trying to figure the best way to see these.   (Doing an export, then import & then removing dups is not a feasible answer.
    The exports truncate my notes to 250 chars so I loose too much of my history.)  I added "InFolder" to the contacts form but several say "contacts" so that is not enough to differentiate them.  I tried to go & change the name of the older contacts
    folders but still have 3 contacts folders that I can't seem to change.
    "A field appears in the Field Chooser but it doesn't mean we can use it on every type of Outlook item. We can only use fields appropriate for the form we are designing."  I realize this but these 2 fields are available & display beautifully when
    I select them in my "View" of a list of contacts so it's associated in the OutL database.  Seems logical that it should be on a design form too.
    Is there another suggestion for differentiating where the source of the contact comes from?
    Not sure I follow what you mean by, "We can also post in Outlook for Developers forum to check the properties of Outlook contact form, and confirm which fields we can add to it:" ?? Will this serve as that posting or are you saying post a separate thread?

  • Suppress leading spaces while displaying an amount field in a Smart form

    Hi all,
    In a smart form, I am using fields like KONV-kbetr and VBAP-netwr each of them currency type and 2 decimal places. I want to suppress the decimal places and also the leading spaces while displaying these fields in a smartform cause when this field is inserted in a sentence, a lot of gap is there between the field and the words of the sentence. I dont want to change the field length cause it can be that huge in some cases.
    Please help.
    Thanks ,

    Hi, if you would place it in a sentence, it would be an option to concatenate the text and values into one string and then condense it.
    concatenate <text> <value> into lv_sentence.
    condense lv_sentence.
    but another way is to use codes for displaying values in smartforms:

    Output Options for Field Contents
    Use the Formatting options to adapt the value of a field before printing it. You can enter the
    relevant parameters directly behind the field name. Make sure to write the short forms of the
    different options in uppercase letters. Some of the options can be combined.
    General Information
    The formatting options are not suited for all data types of fields (for example, for character fields
    you need no exponential representation). You must distinguish between numeric fields and
    character fields.
    Numeric Fields
      If specified, the system first evaluates the length (<length>).
      If no length is specified, the system displays the value in its overall length.
      The trailing blank indicates a positive sign. To suppress it, use formatting option S.
      Any offset <offset> specified is ignored.
    Sequence of evaluation: (<length>), sign to the left(<),Japanese date (L), suppress blanks (C),
    right-justified display (R), insert fillers (F).
    Character Fields
    By default, the system displays the value of a field in its overall length, but truncates trailing
    blanks.
    Sequence of evaluation: suppress blanks (C), <offset> and (<length>), right-justified display (R),
    insert fillers (F).
    Overview
    Formatting Options for Fields
    Syntax Description
    &field+<offset>& Skips <offset> places of the field value (character fields only). If the
    offset is greater than the length of the value, nothing is displayed.
    &field(<length>)& Sets the output length to <length>.
    &field(*)& If the field is defined by a Data Dictionary type, Smart Forms set the
    output length to the value specified there.
    &field(S)& Suppresses the sign
    &field(<)& Displays the sign to the left of the number
    &field(.<nat.number>)& Limits output of decimal places to <nat.number>
    &field(E<nat.number>)& Displays the field value with the fixed exponent <nat.number>. The
    mantissa is adapted to this exponent by shifting the decimal
    character and inserting zeros.
    SAP Smart Forms (BC-SRV-SCR) SAP AG
    Output Options for Field Contents
    72 April 2001
    &field(T)& Suppresses thousand indicators when displaying fields of types
    DEC, CURR, INT, and QUAN.
    &field(Z)& Suppresses leading zeros of numbers
    &field(I)& Suppresses display of initial values
    &field(K)& Deactivates a conversion routine specified in the Data Dictionary.
    &field(R)& Right-justified display. Use this option only when specifying an
    output length as well.
    &field(F<filler>)& Replaces left-justified blanks in the value by the fill character <filler>.
    &field(L)& Converts and a date field to a local date and displays it. The date is
    then formatted using edit mask JPDAT.
    Since this representation uses Japanese characters, use it in the
    Japanese version of the SAP System only.
    &field(C)& The system takes the field value as a sequence of words separated
    by blanks. Option C shifts these words to the left and leaves only
    one blank inbetween as separator. Any leading blanks are
    suppressed. This effect corresponds to that of the ABAP statement
    CONDENSE.

  • How do I take two separate non numeric fields in a acrobat form and combine the data to display in a third separate field?

    How do I take two separate non numeric fields in a acrobat form and combine the data to display in a third separate field?

    You have to use custom JavScripting to concatenate the first 2 fields. You cannot use the first 2 calculation options because they force the values of the fields to a numeric value or ignore string values.
    Possible scripts for the 3rd field are:
    event.value = this.getField("Text1").valueAsString + " " + this.getField("Text2").valueAsString;
    or
    event.value = this.getField("Text1").valueAsString.concat( " ",  this.getField("Text2").valueAsString);
    If you do not want change the separator or not show the separator when on or the other field is empty, you will need to add more code to adjust for change.
    The above scripts will also concatenate number because the field values are read as strings and not numbers.
    There is also a generalized user written function to concatenate up to 3 fields with a separator that adjust for missing data.

  • Change to display field on control block not reflected until form refreshed

    Hi guys, hope someone out there can help me with this query.
    I'm currently developing a form that will allow users to generate offer letters and contracts via a custom form which is used within Apps 11i. This form is a fairly standard multi-text field form with tickboxes which hold the applicant details, two buttons (one to Select All, the other to Clear All) and another button to produce the actual contracts selected.
    There is also a display field which is part of the control block attached to the form; both it and the Produce Contracts button are part of this control block. I've added a bit of code to change the text in the display field to inform the user that the contract or contracts they've requested are being generated, but although the call to the relevant code to do this appears before kicking off the concurrent request to generate the contracts, the update to the field fails to appear until after the concurrent request is complete and its output appears on another screen.
    Does anyone know why this is? I've racked my brains over it and can't seem to understand why. I've pasted the code in below if anyone has any ideas!
    Many thanks, Geoff

    if Get_Application_Property(User_Interface) = 'WEB' then

    end if;</font></pre>
    Let us know if this works.

  • Display fields when web-enabling 6i form

    I am web-enabling a Forms 6i application. All the display fields show up as black when the form is run thru the web. In our client/server version these display fields show up as gray. Why are the colors showing up different when form is run thru the web?
    Thanks in advance.

    > They have a default Visual Attribute assigned to them.
    Do you mean their Visual Attribute Group property is set to "DEFAULT"?
    And you did not answer the first question: What is the background color property assigned to the items? Does it have "&lt;Unspecified>", or is a color assigned?
    Assuming your Visual Attribute Group property is set to "DEFAULT" and they have &lt;Unspecified> for background color, then what is the Visual Attribute Group of the canvas they are on? Does the canvas have a Background Color assigned? If not, try setting the background color and report back what happens.
    It sounds like you are completely relying on Forms defaults for background, and the default item background on web is black.

  • & (ampersand) in 10g form

    Hi All,
    We have some issue about the & (ampersand) functionality in 6i forms which is not found in 10g form.
    We successfully convert the forms from 6i to 10g but when the users do their TESTING they found out
    that the & (ampersand) functionality was missing in 10g form what I mean is that in 6i form when you try
    to query a group of records in a particular field you just hit F7 then type & (ampersand) then hit F8 it will
    display a window that allows you to write a query for that particular field then hit ENTER.. Then it will
    dsplay the records...
    Example: destination in ('6050','6060') then HIT Enter then it will display the recoreds...
    Does anyone knows that this funtionality found in 10g forms? If YES how to invoke it?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    We made this change to our default.env and bounced the server. But the query/where window does not seem to appear. I'm using IE 7 (Version 7.0.5730). The forms server is on Linux and the database is 11g. We are upgrading from 10.7 to R12.
    *$ORACLE_HOME/forms/server/default.env* has the following:
    +# Disable/remove this variable if end-users need access to the query-where+
    +# functionality which potentially allows them to enter arbitrary SQL+
    +# statements when in enter-query mode.+
    FORMS_RESTRICT_ENTER_QUERY=FALSE+
    Does it matter if the FALSE is enclosed in double quotes? Also, shouldn't we need "export FORMS_RESTRICT_ENTER_QUERY"?
    This parameter is also defined in $APPL_TOP/<instance>.env as follows.
    # Disable/remove this variable if end-users need access to the query-where
    # functionality which potentially allows them to enter arbitrary SQL
    # statements when in enter-query mode.
    FORMS_RESTRICT_ENTER_QUERY=FALSE
    We changed this value also to FALSE and bounced the server still with no luck. Any pointers?

  • Unable to pass a parameter to a field in a tabular form.

    I created a tabular form with 2.0 using the wizard. I’m having issues though with 2 of my columns.
    The two columns are last_edit_user and last_edit_date. As you can tell I’m trying to pass the system date and :app_user to these two fields.
    I read this thread Default Value in Tabular Form and decided to create a simple function on the database that returns the system date. Then under report attributes I went to the last_edit_date column. In “Tabular Form Element” I changed it to “Display as Text (saves state)” made the default type a PL/SQL expression or function then put the function name in the ‘default’ text field.
    When I try to update a field I then get:
    Error in mru internal routine: ORA-20001: Error in MRU: row= 1, ORA-01407: cannot update
    I have also tried creating a computation and passing the date to a hidden item then use default type item and list the hidden item in the default text box. I get the same error.
    Considering how often these fields or similar would come up in a tabular form I can’t help but think there must be an easy way of passing parameters to fields in a tabular form without making them editable.

    This keeps coming up often and I find that the easiest way to handle this is in a row-level trigger on the underlying table
    create or replace trigger t
    before insert or update on mytable
    for each row
    begin
    :new.last_update_date := sysdate;
    :new.last_update_user := nvl(v('APP_USER'),user);
    end;

  • Displaying fields from a Z Table on CRM UI

    Hello Experts
    I am trying to display fields from a custom table onto a CRM UI form view.
    1. I created a custom GENIL root object & Search object ie. ZCUSTOMER. & ZCUSTSEARCH
    2. Tested this in the GENIL BROWSER to ensure that I could enter update values to the table and retrieve it via the search object.
    3. Created a custom component ZCUSTOMER
    4. Created a view with this component ZCUSTOMER using the wizard -
         Model Name - CUSTINFO
         BOL Entity - ZCUSTOMER
         No links to the custom controller or higher level objects.(as I do not want to tie this to any standard components)
    Type of view - Form view
    7. Created a Context node for the component controller with the same info as I did for the view.
    8. Performed the binding of the view context node with the component controller context node.
    9. Configured 1 field CUST_NAME to be displayed on the view.
    10. Configured the run time repository to display the view.
    Now the issue is..
    When the view gets displayed, the field is displayed with the error "CUST_NAME not bound"
    What am i missing?
    Thanks

    Hi Swati,
    Thanks for the feedback. I re-viewed the WD_CREATE_CONTEXT method of the view controller implementation class and I see the following code in there already-
    method WD_CREATE_CONTEXT.
      create the context
        context = cl_bsp_wd_context=>get_instance(
              iv_controller = me
              iv_type = 'ZL_ZCUSTOMER_BSPWDCOMPONEN_CTXT' ).
        typed_context ?= context.
    endmethod.
    Does that look right or do I need to modify it?
    Thanks once again for the help.
