JDeveloper feature recommendation to Oracle

It would be great flexibility to have a option for local JDeveloper installation to setup JDeveloper settings and configuration on the network drive for faster IDE performance rather then doing the network installation. This will be a great help for teams using JDeveloper.
My apologies, if this feature is already there and I am not aware of it, can someone please let me know how this can be done?

I'm not sure what setting do you want to have - the best performance will be if you'll install JDeveloper on your local C drive.
If you want to work with a network installation you can follow this section of the install guide:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/jdev/1013install/install.html#multiuser
Or are you asking for an install on a central disk "F" that is accessible by all the machines.

  • Installed graphics card does not support the opengl features recommended

I've installed FCP6 on my PowerMac (PPC G4 DP 1.25GHz), and when I run it, I get a warning ("...installed graphics card does not support the opengl features recommended...") and the program ends. The graphics card is the ATI Radeon 9000 Pro (64MB)
I'm looking for a definitive answer regarding my hardware compatibility with FCS2 (specifically, FCP6). I'm NOT looking for an answer along the lines of: your system is too old to run this.
I've checked the minimum system requirements from the apple website (http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/specs/
    and http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/download/):
    * A Macintosh computer with a 1.25GHz or faster PowerPC G4, PowerPC G5, Intel Core Duo, or Intel Xeon processor
    * 1GB of RAM
    * An AGP or PCI Express Quartz Extreme graphics card (Final Cut Studio is not compatible with integrated Intel graphics processors)
    * A display with 1024-by-768 resolution or higher
    * Mac OS X v10.4.11 or later
    * QuickTime 7.3 or later
    * DVD drive for installation
I have all that stuff. What I'd like is to know which component of my system is FCP6 complaining about (vis-a-vis the error message above), alternatively, if someone has had success with a similar configuration, I'd like to know anything they think might help.
Thanks in advance for any helpful advice you may have.

The minimum would probably be an nVidia Fx5200 or an ATI 9600...

  • Note 830576 - Parameter recommendations for Oracle 10g

    hi all DBA experts.
I am not good familiar with Oracle database while i read a Note 830576 - Parameter recommendations for Oracle 10g. in which SAP General Recommendation:
You should delete obsolete initialization parameters from the profile.
To determine which obsolete parameters are currently set, proceed as follows:
    SQL> SELECT NAME FROM V$OBSOLETE_PARAMETER WHERE ISSPECIFIED = 'TRUE';
when i execute above command then result is no rows selected
while there are many parameters in above SAP Note which are already obsolete and not set in initSID.ora file.
for exp.  the parameter OPTIMIZER_INDEX_COST_ADJ  is showing
    #### OPTIMIZER MODE
    #optimizer_index_cost_adj = 10
as you know that this parameter is very important regarding System Performance.
now please guide me . I have to set these parameter or no need while there is not showing any parameters against obsolete command.
    waiting you valuable reply.

    hi both,
thanks for knowledge sharing with me other SDN users,
    Dear Orkun,
Ok. At this stage, I can recommend you that apply what they have suggested,
in the message. So, you already did a part of it by configuring
    Oracle parameters, already.

  • JDeveloper 3.1 + Personal Oracle 8i for Win98

    Dear all,
I want to use the JDeveloper 3.1 + Personal Oracle 8i + Window 98 for local testing before uploading the whole site.
Which extra products should I use to connecting them within my PC. Should I install a web server program or/and Oracle application server? If so, are there any precautions for me?
    Thanks a lot.
    Wallace.

    Wallace,
In order to save you some time, I will
    clarify some issues.
JDeveloper 3.1 includes a web server (webtogo) which can be used for local testing - no additional installation necessary.
JDeveloper 3.1 is not certified against
    windows 98 - only on Windows NT / 2000.
[Optional] Personal Oracle 8i will give you
a good local test environment, but ultimately you will need to migrate to your deployment
    platform and with JDeveloper's automated
deployment support, you may want to go
directly to the Oracle 8i on your server as
    it is just as easy.
I hope this can help you save some time.
    Sincerely,
    John - JDeveloper Team

  • Create an EAR in JDeveloper to deploy on Oracle AS 10g

I have a J2EE project with EJBs and JSPs. I am using JDEVELOPER as my IDE. I need to deploy my application on ORACLE 10G APP SERVER.
I need to create an EAR file consisting of my EJBs and JSPs to deploy the appln.
When i go into Deployment Profiles in JDeveloper and try to create an EAR file, it does create the EAR file but the contents of the file are only 2-3 xml files, there is nothing else in it.
I am wondering how on earth do i need to create my EAR package so that i can deploy on Oracle APP Server.
This is actually very urgent... so i would really really appreciate and thank you if someone could help me out....
Thank you very much in advance

  • Is practising on Oracle OLAP features free with Oracle 11g EE?

    Hi,
Is practising on Oracle OLAP features free with Oracle 11g EE??
    Information found in Internet:
    - Oracle Corporation markets the Oracle Database OLAP Option as an extra-cost option to supplement the "Enterprise Edition" of its database.
    - Oracle Database OLAP is there pre-installed along with the rest of Oracle Database EE. You just need to license it for use on the DB Machine when you choose to use it.
    - Oracle OLAP is a world class multidimensional analytic engine embedded in Oracle Database 11g.
Please confirm if I can try some OLAP features in my office where I have Oracle 11g EE installed as I have been asked to do an initial POC?
    Regards,
    Sudhir

    Hi there,
I believe that the OLAP license falls under the developer license on OTN - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/testcontent/standard-license-088383.html
You should contact your local Oracle sales rep if you are still unsure

  • Is RAID 5 not recommended for Oracle database ?

    - I am planning to install Oracle database
    Here are the specs:
    - Dell PowerEdge T610 server
    - Windows 2008 R2 (64-bit )
    - 24 GB memory
    - Oracle 10g database (64-bit database)
    - Our database is for an ERP based client server application
    - Will have around 35-45 users
    - Will have around 150-200 transaction per day ( 8AM-5PM) only database
    - database would be around 10-15GB (data files)
Now I am planning to buy the hardware server, I heard that RAID 5 is not recommended for Oracle database.
    Is it true ?
What do you recommended for Oracle database ? RAID 5 (or) RAID 1

    johnpau2013 wrote:
I heard that RAID 5 is not recommended for Oracle database.
Is it true ?Kind off... as Oracle (as per the RAC Starter Kits for example) explicitly recommends SAME - as in Stripe And Mirror Everything.
This is a combination of RAID1 and RAID0.
However, you will also get whitepapers from storage vendors like EMC in partnership with Oracle, that explains how to configure and use RAID5 storage and how effective this is. And as some will tell you, RAID5 can work just fine with Oracle... and some others will grimace and tell you how bad an idea that is from personal experiences.
In a nutshell - RAID5 requires a parity calculation on each write. That is a very expensive overhead if that calculation impacts the fwrite() (file write) command of a process writing data to disk. It significantly slows down the write operation.
However, if that parity calculation is done asynchronously and does not effect the elapsed time for a fwrite(), then a fwrite() to RAID5 is as fast or as slow as it would be to RAID10 for example.
Unsure how many modern storage system supports off-loading the parity calculation and not impacting the write I/O call. This can be done using ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits), specialised s/w on the storage server, etc.
Whatever you put in place - test the RAID config thoroughly up front and ensure that performance is up to specs. There's a utility called fio (<i>Flexible I./O</i>) written by a Linux kernel hacker that works for Oracle. It is an excellent utility to use to generate and test I/O - but it is Linux and Unix based.
Any specific reason using Windows? Linux is by far a more predominant 64bit operating system than Windows, and has significant higher market share in Oracle RDBMS than Windows. Given the fact that over 93% of the 500 fastest computer systems on this planet runs Linux, I'm always kind of amazed that some would still use Windows as a server-side o/s for Oracle.

  • FileSystems recommended Linux/Oracle 8

We are using RedHat 7.1 and Oracle 8. We had trouble using ReiserFS (the desired file system of the client's sys admin). We removed it and installed EXT2. The client's sys admin still wants to use Reiser - despite our trouble with it. What file systems are recommended for use with Oracle?
    Thanks in advance.

i tried ReiserFS, XFS, ext2 and ext3 with oracle 8i on redhat
    6.2 and 7.2
i don't recommend running oracle on reiserfs (journaled fs),
couse it works very slov (about 5-10 times slower). however, it
    works stable.
XFS works very fast and stable with oracle (journaled fs)
ext2 works stable with oracle, but you must consider what would
happend in a case of power crash (async mount by default - sync
mount is safe, but very slow)
ext3 works very fast and stable with oracle (journaled fs)
didn't try ibm jfs with oracle...
so i do recommend xfs or ext3
    and kernel 2.4.x ofcourse

  • 10 new features to the oracle dataabse 10g

    Hi all.
Recently, I have been interivewed and I have been asked to list 10 new features of Oracle 10g.
    I told him about:
    1) Here, stats have been collected automatically, in oracle 9i it was manual
    2) AWR
    3) RULE based optimizer is not there only in oracle 9i
    4) ASM
Anything else which you want to mentioned:

The Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor (ADDM) analyzes data in the Automatic Workload Repository (AWR) to identify potential performance bottlenecks. For each of the identified issues it locates the root cause and provides recommendations for correcting the problem. An ADDM analysis task is performed and its findings and recommendations stored in the database every time an AWR snapshot is taken provided the STATISTICS_LEVEL parameter is set to TYPICAL or ALL. The ADDM analysis includes:
    •     CPU load
    •     Memory usage
    •     I/O usage
    •     Resource intensive SQL
    •     Resource intensive PL/SQL and Java
    •     RAC issues
    •     Application issues
    •     Database configuration issues
    •     Concurrency issues
    •     Object contention
    ASM
Automatic Storage Management (ASM) simplifies administration of Oracle related files by allowing the administrator to reference disk groups rather than individual disks and files, which are managed by ASM

Automatic Shared Memory ManagementAutomatic Shared Memory Management puts Oracle in control of allocating memory within the SGA. The SGA_TARGET parameter sets the amount of memory available to the SGA. This parameter can be altered dynamically up to a maximum of the SGA_MAX_SIZE parameter value. Provided the STATISTICS_LEVEL is set to TYPICAL or ALL and the SGA_TARGET is set to a value other than "0" Oracle will control the memory pools which would otherwise be controlled by the following parameters:
    •     DB_CACHE_SIZE (default block size)
    •     SHARED_POOL_SIZE
    •     LARGE_POOL_SIZE
    •     JAVA_POOL_SIZE
If these parameters are set to a non-zero value they represent the minimum size for the pool. These minimum values may be necessary if you experience application errors when certain pool sizes drop below a specific threshold.
The following parameters must be set manually and take memory from the quota allocated by the SGA_TARGET parameter:
    •     DB_KEEP_CACHE_SIZE
    •     DB_RECYCLE_CACHE_SIZE
    •     DB_nK_CACHE_SIZE (non-default block size)
    •     STREAMS_POOL_SIZE
    •     LOG_BUFFER
