JDeveloper3.1.1.2 - EJB wizard....

Hi,
On selecting New/EJB,
takes to wizards to create home/remote interfaces,
In step 2/3 it gives u the methods in the
home/remote interface,
but the feature....
which methods do you want to include in the Remote Interface(also home)?
doesn't allow me to enter a new method , or
even modify the signature of the methods listed there...
why is it so?
actually the wizard should have allowed me to edit the methods...isn't?
TIA
bye
cheers
SAR.

In JDeveloper 3.2 we have totally revamped the EJB wizard which gives you an EJB Designer to add/update/delete methods , attributes and other EJB functionality. On top of this it also has support for EJB 1.1 spec.
3.2 would be available on OTN within few weeks time , Check on OTN for the updates.

  • EJB WIzard Bugs

    There seem to be several bugs in the EJB wizard:
    1. If I change various fields to not be primary keys, sometimes this does not affect the generated PK class consistently (I have seen a couple of cases where the old or older versions of the constructor are present with fields that used to be primary keys still there).
    2. When I change method names, the "Create Sample Java Client" still uses the old names (or the field names, same thing) for accessors instead of the new method names.
    3. When using the "Create CMP from table" -- why does it ignore data types? Why not ask what are the primary keys?
    Finally, the documentation on running using the internal OC4j OAS should tell users to start the server first by doing a run on the ejb object before trying to run the generated test program (or any other client).
    Best,
    Joe McDaniel

    I've the SAME problems and no luck changing our regional settings
    We read it before, in that "French" case, but no luck to us
    Out regional setting is Spanish, nothing works better if we use English
    And why embedded OC4J doesn't create tables for entities in EJB3? It does if we use EJB2.1, but those wizards doesn't works

  • EJB Wizard

    Hi,
    I wonder why you in the EJB Wizard in JDeveloper 3.1 for the EJB Class need to declare a RemoteException on those methods that shall be accessable to for the remote interface ?
    Shouldn't the RemoteException only be declared on the remote interface and NOT on the methods in the EJB class ?
    Please comment on this.
    Best regards
    Magnus Wistrvm
    null

    public class RemoteException
    extends IOException
    Magnus, if you look at the online
    help for RemoteException,
    you will see:
    A RemoteException is the common superclass for a number of communication-related
    exceptions that may occur during the execution of a remote method call. Each method of a remote interface, an interface that extends java.rmi.Remote, must list RemoteException in its throws clause.
    Since the methods of an EJB class are
    also called from remote JVMs, they must list the 'throws RemoteException' at their method declarations.
    Also, there is no way to declare acceptance
    of a throw some-exception at the interface
    level - this is a method level attribute.
    I hope this helps,

  • No response from EJB Wizard

    I tried to use wizard to create ejb. JDev take no action after I press "Finish" and stay there. This happen for existing project. If I create a new project, wizard work fine. Does anyone know how to fix it? Thx.

    Hi,
    Can you please provide the following info
    - What JDeveloper version are you using?
    - Are there any exceptions in the console when you press the finish button?
    - What wizard are you talking about? The CMP entity wizard or the Session bean wizard?
    Thanks

  • In ejb3.0 project, wizard for new EJB Session Bean 3.0 doesn't come up

    When I try to create a EJB 3.0 SessionBean, I get the following error:
    The selected wizard could not be started.
    Reason:
    Plug-in com.sap.ide.j2ee.ui.ejb was unable to load class com.sap.ide.j2ee.ui.ejb.wizard.SessionBeanWizard
    Details:
    com/sap/j2ee/ui/ejb/wizard/SessionBeanWizard (Unsupported major.minor version 49.0)
    Note: As seen in the thread below, I have just re-installed the appserver and dev studio: EJB 3.0 project wizard does not come up

    Hi Makarand,
    The message "Unsupported major.minor version 49.0" implies that you are running with JDK version < 1.5. Please check in your workspace\.metadata\.log file - there should be some entries like:
    java.version=1.5.0_07
    java.vendor=SAP AG
    BTW, have you started the NWDS from the Start Menu -> Programs -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio? If you are using C:\SAP\DevStudio\eclipse\SapNetweaverDeveloperStudio.exe directly it could be that it finds some older JRE installed on your machine.
    Hope that helps!

  • How to create a local EJB 3.0 and execute in JDeveloper?

    Hello guys!
    I'm brand new with EJB 3.0.
    I would like to know how can I create a @Local EJB and a client in JDeveloper?
    It's was ease to create a @Remote EJB and the sample java client, how can I do same to @Local EJB?
    I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0.3914
    Thanks in advance.

    Creating a @Local EJB is just as easy, just replace the @Remote by @Local, or checkmark local in the EJB wizard.
    You can create a client for a @Local EJB, as local methods aren't available outside the EJB container, that's why they are called local. A test client doesn't run in the ejb container, and therefor cannot access the local ejb methods.
    If you want to test the local methods of an ejb, you should create another ejb which calls the first.

  • Adding more fields to a CMP EJB

    I'm using Sun's ONE studio 5, Sun ONE AS, and PointBase-db.
    I use the CMP EJB wizard to generate the skeleton for a CMP EJB, and specify to use a database-table from PointBase as the CMP-persistant fields.
    The problem arises when i want to add futher fields, when i try adding the in the IDE, i cant deploy the application(!)
    What am i doing wrong?

  • HOW TO: "Hello World" EJB Style

    The following Session EJB quick tutorial requires an IIOP datasource. This EJB should work in Oracle databases
    greater than 8.1.5.
    1. Create a new project for an Enterprise JavaBean.
    2. Name your project "Hello".
    3. Select Enterprise JavaBean from "A project containing a new..."
    4. Click Finish to close the Project wizard.
    The Enterprise JavaBeans wizard opens.
    5. For the EJB type, select Session Bean (Stateless)
    6. For the EJB name, enter "Hello" (no quotes!)
    The resulting interface names are created for you. Don't change them!
    7. Click Finish for the EJB wizard to generate the EJB project for you.
    8. Select Save All from the File menu. Call this workspace "Hello".
    You'll see that the EJB wizard generated the home, remote, and bean logic files for you. Now you'll need to
    add the business logic to the HelloBean.java file.
    9. Double click the HelloBean.java file, then click the Source tab to bring it into view.
    10. Before the last closing brace (}), add this line of code:
    public String hello() { return "Hello World!"; }
    11. Select File | Save All.
    12. In the Navigator, double-click the Hello.java file so that you can add the remote interface.
    13. Click the Source tab to bring Hello.java into view.
    14. Add the following line before the last brace (}):
    public String hello() throws java.rmi.RemoteException;
    15. Select File | Save All.
    16. Add the Oracle8i JVM classes to the Hello project by selecting Project | Project Properties and clicking
    the Libraries tab.
    17. Click Add, then click Oracle 8i JVM, then click OK.
    18. Click OK to dismiss the Project Properties dialog.
    19. Select Project | Make Project to compile the Hello project.
    20. In the Navigator, right-click the Hello folder and select Create EJB/8i Deployment Profile.
    21. In the Deployment Profile Wizard that appears, click the Advanced Button.
    Only the first (Automatically include files added to project) and the last (Redirect messages
    to the Message View) boxes should be selected.
    22. Click Done to close the Advanced dialog.
    23. Click the Connection tab and select an IIOP datasource. If there is none, you'll have to create one.
    All three checkboxes at the top of the page should be selected.
    24. Click Done. You'll be prompted to deploy now or later. Click Yes.
    JDeveloper will use the IIOP datasource you specified to deploy the Hello EJB project.
    Now you need to add the generated files that were created during deployment to the class path so that
    the client can find them.
    25. From the Project menu, select Project Properties, then click Add, then click New.
    26. Click the Elipses to the right of the Class path field, then click Add Jar/Zip.
    27. Navigate to the file called HelloGenerated.jar and double-click it to add it to the path.
    28. Click OK to close the two dialogs and Project Properties.
    After JDeveloper completes the deployment, you need to make a client to call the EJB methods and display the results.
    29. From the File menu, select New, then click on the Snippets tab.
    30. Double-click the EJB Oracle 8i Client icon.
    31. Click the Parameters button in the Snippet dialog.
    32. Enter the IIOP connection information you specified earlier.
    33. Enter the EJB Home and Remote interface names ("HelloHome" and "Hello").
    34. Click OK to close the Parameters button.
    The Client file is added to the project.
    35. In the Navigator, right-click the MyEJBJSClient.java file and select run.
    Check the Message View to see the output of your EJB!

  • Configure security-role and method permission for EJB 3.0 using Jdev 11g

    The EJB 3.0 session bean created by Jdev 11g EJB wizard does not have ejb-jar.xml. Where and how can security-role and method permission for the EJB be configured?
    For example,
    <assembly-descriptor>
    <security-role>
    <role-name>managers</role-name>
    </security-role>
    <method-permission>
    <role-name>managers</role-name>
    <method>
    <ejb-name>Employees</ejb-name>
    <method-name>setSalary</method-name>
    <method-params>
    <method-param>java.lang.Long</method-param>
    </method-params>
    </method>
    </method-permission>
    </assembly-descriptor>

    user516954,
    By default annotations are used. However, you can create a new descriptor and that will take presidence over any declared annotation.

  • Creation error of EJB

    Hi!
    I ran into the following problem when referencing the public parts of
    an external j2ee library project stored in the NWDI. Specifically I would
    like to reference an API part for having a correct build path during development.
    Unfortunately I can create this reference but afterwards the NWDS tells
    me that it requires to rebuild the ejb-jar.xml and the ejb-j2ee-engine.xml.
    This automated refactoring leaves me with two 'empty' files, having all
    my ejb definitions removed.
    I tried to define new stateless ejbs by creating them via the context menu
    and ran into the error 'Not able to create Session Bean'. In order to find out
    what happened, I checked the .log file of the NWDS in my workspace folder

    Does anyone has been confronted with such an error before and could give
    me a hint about how to solve this problem.
    Kind regards,
      Christian Kreutzfeldt

    I resolved the problem myself by creating a new library project where I added
    the libraries stepwise until building the referencing project failed. The library
    project contains the hibernate framework which includes a file named jboss-j2ee.jar.
    In some way or another this conflicts with the NWDS which leads to failures
    when updating the ejb-jar.xml and ejb-j2ee-engine.xml files.

  • EJB support in Oracle products

    I'm curious. Since current Oracle products only support session
    beans and not entity beans, what can be done with just the
    session beans? I would love to be able to get the full
    utilization of EJB, but would have to acquire "a whole nother"
    server (like WebLogic) for that. I understand that the next
    releases of Oracle products (such as JDeveloper 3) will have
    full support for entity beans, but what am I to do until then?
    Would it be wise to develop session beans that directly access
    databases instead of the entity beans? It doesn't make much
    sense to me.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi
    JDeveloper 2.0 (which is in Producition) allows you to create
    either session or entity beans (EJB) from the EJB Wizard. But
    there is no deployment support yet. The next release of Oracle8i
    will have support for Entity beans.
    regards

  • How to create .ejb file?

    Hi all.
    I am trying to deploy a session bean from JDEV 3.0 to Oracle 8i 8.1.5.
    In the deployment profile wizard (step 2), JDeveloper asks to specify a EJB Definition file (*.ejb).
    The Enterprise JavaBeans and CORBA Developers Guide for 8.1.5 describes how to create a deployment descriptor file (*.dd) in detail, but does not help much with the creation of a .ejb file.
    How should I go about creating a .EJB file?
    Your help is much appreciated,
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    The JDeveloper EJB wizard should do this for you (default location is myprojects directory. If you did not use the wizard to generate your EJB code, you can still use it to create the .ejb file.
    See the online help for Creating a New EJB from an existing Enterprise Bean Class.

  • Ejb and jsproc deployment problems

    Am trying to deploy the java stored procedure (jsp) example
    (jsproc subdirectory in acmevideo directory) and the enterprise
    java bean (ejb) example (ejb subdirectory in acmevideo
    directory). Both use the business and util subdirectries of
    acmevideo directory. These examples are provided with
    JDeveloper.
    In the case of the jsp example, the files compile fine in
    JDeveloper. The deployment profile file is created okay using
    the Stored Procedure Profile Wizard. But when the jsp is
    attempted to be deployed by right clicking the deployment
    profile file menu in JDeveloper, the following errors appear:
    SQL error during creation of acmevideo/util/DataWrapper
    ORA-00922 - missing or invalid option
    SQL error during creation of acmevideo/business/TitleQueries
    ORA-00922 - missing or invalid option
    Is there a corrective action for these errors? Are the details
    recorded in any log so that these errors can be troubleshooted?
    In the case of the jbe example, the files compile fine in
    JDeveloper. The deployment profile file is created okay using
    the EJB Profile Wizard. But when the jsp is attempted to be
    deployed by right clicking the deployment profile file menu in
    JDeveloper, the following happens:
    The message indicating that the deployment will take a few
    minues continues to show forever. There is no completion,
    and one is forced to cancel the process.
    This happens when using the port settings of 1521, 1526 (Oracle
    listener ports) or 2651 (OAS ORB port). Specifying the service
    or omitting it yeilds the same results.
    Is there a corrective action for this? Are the details recorded
    in any log so that these errors can be troubleshooted?
    For both the situations, is the classpath variable need to set
    outside the JDeveloper environment?
    Also am not able to locate the Oracle 8i CORBA and Enterprise
    Java Beans Developer's Guide and the Oracle 8i Java Stored
    Procedure Developer's Guide referenced in Building Java
    Applications for Oracle 8i anywhere.
    Would appreciate any help in this area.

    : Has anyone been able to deploy an ejb from JDeveloper2 (Beta)?
    We have ;) But I guess that doesn't count... Please have a look
    at the online demo for Enterprise JavaBeans on this technet
    website. You can get there through the JDeveloper Tech Info page.
    Please open a new thread if that doesn't help you.
    Thanks,
    -Roel.
