JDK 1.5 for Debian/PA-RISC

Hi I am running Debian 4 Release 6 on HP PA-RISC platform. The system will run a BI suite which requires at least JRE 1.5. I have the source for that but need an equivalent JDK to go with it. It looks like there is not one available for this platform/OS but I thought I would ask first before giving up and trying something else. I could go with a later version of JRE/JDK if one is available.

This is definitely not supported, and I don't know that any work is scheduled in the future
to support this JDK on WLS 5.1.
Having said that, I was able to start WLS 5.1sp12 with JDK 1.4 with no errors. I didn't
exercise any features, however.

Thanks Henrik. My question is for the same customer that Alex K. was asking about.
The customer has pointed out that 6.5 != 6.0 , so according to the wording in the documentation, the "all later releases of 6.0" would not apply to 6.5 releases. So the customer would need a precise statement from JRockit product management stating that 6.5 releases are indeed to be included wherever there is a reference to "all later releases of 6.0".
I did spend some time yesterday in MetaLink. Search Knowledge base -> Oracle JRockit for download gives 38 hits. I did find older versions of WebLogic Server in 763603.1, but nothing for JRockit. If there is another DocId with the JRockit downloads, what is it? Will I find JRockit 64 bit for Solaris 27.6.0 bundled in the WebLogic Server downloads? Guessing from the size of the downloads for Solaris 64bit (they are hundreds of MB smaller than other downloads) - it seems possible that the JVM is not included (I do not have a Solaris machine to install and check). Previously I had assumed the JVM was included, but then the customer wouldn't be asking where they can download from (unless they never bother to look what they installed).

ZAM support for Debian and CentOS

I'm planning to install Zenworks Asset Management and I would like to know if it would release a support for Debian and CentOS. We have a heterogenous network environment and there are servers that are running Debian and CentOS. Is it possible for ZAM to release a support for these operating systems?

I checked on sun.java.com,But I just got JDK 1.4 for 32 bit Linux machine.
And there is JDK for 64 bit Linux intel itanium, which i m not abe to install on my Liux machine (with AMD architecure).
Do JDK 1.4 support for Linux 64 bit platform?

Anyone know where can I download Jdk release 6 for Mac ?

Where do I find client only for debian?

I need to download the oracle client(8.1.6)
for debian. The 8.1.6 CD pack which was
sent includes only windows NT and Windows NT/2000.
IT is not intuitively obvious where go online to download, since all the titles
are for servers and none for clients.

A bit off topic here, but I thought I could help.
i haven't tried on a deb glibc 2.2 box yet, but I just got it going with a 2.2 suse box so it should really be no different. Go to suse.com/oracle and you will find a patch for glibc 2.2 (glibc-2.1.3-stubs.tar.gz). It is currently listed as "it works" and not "certified". I believe it was made by oracle. The basic jist is you install without creating a database, install the patch, and then create the database. Everything seems to be working for me.

Grub entry for debian

Hi,
this is my grub menu.lst
(hd0,0)=windows
(hd1,0)=boot for Arch.
(hd1,1)= Swap
(hd1,2)=root for Arch.
(hd1,3)=(debian) note yet.
Can I just just use part hdb4 or will better if i create a boot partion and root partion for debian in order to to have a better grub entry for it.

Yes, you can put them there.
The tricky part is that you've already got four (primary) partitions, so you need to delete one of them to replace it with an extended partition... Not very fun.
If you can afford the time/effort, you might want to wipe out all partitions but the Windows one and re-partition the drive with extended ones (or combine Arch's root and /boot parts into one, so each distro only takes a single partition).

Download jdk and jre relases using wget for debian linux

I am trying to help a friend and I am connecting via putty to his machine and want to get jre-6u4-linux-i586.bin. What address would I use because I tried:

JDK Version req for OIM 9.1.0.1 Installation

As per Oracle's documentation, we need to use JDK 1_4_2_15 for Oracle Identity Manager 9.1.0.1. Installation. In my machine when I checked Java Version it shows jdk 1.5_0_06. Is there any problem if I go with the default jdk version or I have to change it to 1.4.2_15. Please advise.

How to download JAVA JDK 32 bit for Window?

The latest Java SE 7 JDK and Java SE 6 JDK do not have 32 bit WIndow version. I see from other forum that installing 86bit will also do the trick but when I install Android development software, it doesn't identify Java SE JDK. Does anyone encounter the same problem too?

JDK - Time configuration for France

Hi!
I'm using GregorianCalendar class to get current date and time like above:
GregorianCalendar today = new GregorianCalendar();
I'm located in Paris and the time I get is automatically converted to Greenwich Mean Time (so one hour less than the one on my server!). I found I had to specify a TimeZone to let it work properly:
GregorianCalendar calendar = new GregorianCalendar(TimeZone.getTimeZone("Europe/Paris"). But I have to make lots of changes in my aplpication...
So: Is there a way to configure directly JDK to get the same result?

Your code should be producing the correct results.
The JavaDoc for GregorianCalendar state that the default constructor produces a Calendar with the default Locale and TimeZone. The default Locale and TimeZones are those supplied by your system ( your Server ).
I would suggest you check that your server has its Locale and Timezones correctly set.
This is a common problem, especially on Linux/Unix servers where this sort of setup is often overlooked after installation.

I'm a bit surprised that the only supported Linux distros are commercial (costing money) distros!
What's the point in providing Linux support for your tools then. The overwhelming majority of Linux users use free distros like Mint, Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora etc.
I had exactly the same problem and now I'm forced to BUY a Linux distro in order to build PetaLinux?
Anyway, a) are there any plans to support these tools on the more popular (free) distros? and b) Does anyone know if we can use CentOS 6, since that's supposed to be a community (free) clone of the supported (but not free) RHEL 6 distro?
Anyone know of an 'unsuported' Linux distro that 'works' anyway (especially for the cable drivers)?
It LOOKS as if that one cable driver install issue is the only thing preventing us from using a boat load of other distros. Can't this be fixed?

Jdk rpm problem for amd64 architecture

I downloaded jdk-1_5_0_09-linux-amd64.rpm and tried to sign it using our key (via rpm --addsign). After signing, package was broken which is a known issue with earlier RPM-BUILD versions.
Is it possible that you create this package using newer (newest) version of RPM-BUILD as that would avoid the present bug and deploying of jdk on RedHat Enterprise 64 systems will be easier (up2date process needs signed RPMs)

Facing the same issue. Need 2 jdks - one for the application we host and one for the monitoring software. First of all, packaged in a .bin file, which you can get around by running extract, but in the end the big issue is that both rpms name themselves "jdk" - making it hard to automate and manage what a huge pain. With different versions, you have to make sure you install both, and don't accidentally upgrade. Wish Sun would address this. Why bother making an RPM for the Linux community if it doesn't work in a practical manner?

Can sun jdk 1.5 for webstart and sapjvm co-exist on the same server?

We just installed PI 7.1. We would like to install sun jdk 1.5 on the PI 7.1 server so we can use the pi tools on the server, but we are not sure if sapjvm and sun jdk can co-exist, or if it's going to cause any problem with PI 7.1, any setting is needed to tell PI which java to use if multiple version is installed? Does anybody know?

Thanks for the reply. note 718901 mentioned to change the jdk version, parameter jstartup/vm/home in instance profile can be used. if that's the case, that should be how we tell PI system whch jdk to use? in PI 7.1, it's point to DIR_SAPJVM, which points to sapjvm_5 in \exe directory. The notes you mentioned all apply to versions before 7.1, I'm wondering if it still works the same way with 7.1 systems.
Has anybody installed a sun jdk on PI 7.1? anything that we need to pay attention to?
