JDOM and text embedded tags

Hi all!
I've just been using JDOM for some XML parsing right now and it works really fine. But I have one problem I can't find a solution (but I think it should be possible and quite simple).
Given the following XML for example:
<document>
  <item>
    Some text here
    <item> Hugh? </item>
    Some other text here...
  </item>
</document>Now item.getText() returns me "Some text here Some other text here..." and item.getChild("item") returns me the embedded item. So far so good.
But I need to translate this XML document to another format automatically. Therefore I need to replace the XML items with some other text - here is the problem that I need to get the text before the embedded tag then the tag itself and replace it and then the text afterwards. But getText() returns the entire text at once.
Since (X)HTML can do this with a <div> inside a <p> there must be a way - but I can't find it (or maybe im totally blind).
Thanks for any hints!

I have tried exporting it to movies idvd itunes,and quicktime in a variety of sizes although not the smallest as I want to watch it on my computer and tv. All videos were recorded on an iphone. Apple store couldn't help me and suggested I redo part of the project. It is a really good project and would take hours to redo it . I just want to export it. Can any one please help???

  • Extra and unwanted paragraph tag after text inset

    Using Framemaker 7.2 -- we maintain a number of manuals which reference a group of common sections, each of which is a separate .fm file.
    The ratio is one-to-many: for example, there is an .fm file called "Bob" which contains information common to multiple manuals. The contents of "Bob" is then imported by reference into other .fm files which reside with the rest of each manual.
    By way of description, the entirety of the in the target document is selected when clicked anywhere; double-clicking causes the Text Inset Properties dialog to appear. "Updating of Imported Flow" is set to Automatic.
    The problem is that each time "Bob" is updated and the changes are populated out to the dependent sections of the manuals, an empty paragraph is inserted at the end of the imported text. By default, this empty paragraph receives a tag which causes it to show up in the TOC of the manual in question.
    This behaviour is annoying until the erroneous TOC sneaks through the editing process -- my fault! -- at which point it becomes embarrassing. Is there a way to prevent this behaviour from happening in the first place?

    > We would like to insert the text inset between two topic titles.
    > When we do this, an empty paragraph tag appears under the text inset.
    Well, not really. A text inset has to be anchored to a paragraph.
    This is the paragraph in which the cursor is placed when you
    import the inset. If you anchor it to an empty paragraph, then
    that paragraph will still be there, empty except for the inset anchor.
    (There is no "anchor" symbol associated with an inset)
    > When we delete the paragraph tag, it seems that the last topic
    > title becomes a part of the text inset.
    No, it doesn't. The topic title is placed in the same paragraph as
    the inset anchor, that's all.
    > When you update the FM book, go to the TOC and click on the link
    > of this last topic title, the whole title and text inset is selected,
    > not only the title as it used to be.
    And why is this a concern? The inset should work as expected.
    The reason is that if you follow a TOC link, the whole paragraph
    becomes selected, including the inset anchor and the inset.
    If this bothers you for some reason, you need to anchor the inset
    in a VERY small paragraph between the two topic titles, say 2-pt
    font size with zero space above/below.

  • Using JEditorPane.selected() with embedded tags.

    Ok, I've been searching the forums and tutorials for about an hour tonight, and I've seen this question asked in many forms but never answered.
    I am writing an applet which uses embedded HTML and some custom tags in a sub-class of JEditorPane that I wrote. I need to be able to get the position of certain tags within the text, which I can do using the JEditorPane.getText() method. But now that I've found the right tags, how can I highlight text contained within them in the visible Pane?
    e.g.:
    getText() returns
    <html>
    <head>
    </head>
    <body>
    Check</shu_ind> this <shu_dep>out</shu_dep>
    </body>
    </html>
    And these shu tags are the ones I want to use. I can parse the text and grab the right position, but when I select(begin,end), it's off by a lot b/c select() doesn't look at any embedded info.
    What can I do?

    I don't think it's the same as I'm doing. Essentially, I have a JEditorPane subclass, which just has a few custom tags in it. I don't need them to be recognized by java, since it will be uneditable, but I just need to know how to convert from the getText() locations to the actual displayed text locations.
    Also, when I set the text as text/html, it creates a bunch of extra HTML tags, so it's larger than the original String used to create it.

  • My iTunes library and metadata/ID3 tags issue

    Since 2010, iTunes is the only media player I use to play music. My library consists of music purchased from the iTunes Store, CD rips and stuff many artists these days release as freebies on the internet to promote a new album. Also, M4A and MP3 are the only formats I use so far.
    Since iTunes, I really got into editing my library's metadata tags by hand, in order to create a custom archive which serves my preferences best. I should mention that besides iTunes being the only software I use to play my music library, it's also the only software I use to edit their metadata. Also, before iTunes – when my library was on different media players – I never bothered with editing them.
    A few days ago, I found how a lot of people in forums complain about the way iTunes edits and stores metadata. So, I experimented and moved a few of my songs to other media players after editing their tags within iTunes. And indeed the tags and/or artwork were often displayed messed up and/or incorrect, some times partially and some times completely.
    Some people were referring to the version of the ID3 tags being the issue, while others suggested using the "convert ID3 tags" feature. I myself am a little bit confused. "Converting the ID3 tags" wasn't available for my M4A files and once I performed it for my MP3's I didn't know which setting I should apply or what version to choose. I chose one version randomly but I'm not sure what happened.
    My goal is to make my music library able to play and display my custom metadata on the majority of the popular media players. I hope that firstly this is possible and that secondly it won't be a solution which requires me going through every single song individually.
    I really hope that all those years work on my library wasn't for nothing.
    I'm using a MacBook running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and my iTunes version is 10.7
    While my music library is more important that my iTunes version, I do like iTunes 10 more than 11.
    I apologize for any grammar mistakes, since English is not my first language. Thank you all for your time and any suggestion is welcome.

    Hello turingtest2 and thank you for your reply.
    In response to "a possible cause of problems is multiple embedded tags", what exactly does that mean and how can I avoid doing it in the future?
    Anything ripped with iTunes should get a single tag. If multiple tags in some of your older mp3 rips are the cause of the problems when you try to access the files elsewhere then you should apply the suggested remedy selectively, not to the whole library indiscriminately. Once fixed you shouldn't have the problem again unless you use different ripping software. If so check the options to ensure you generate a single ID3v2.3 tag. Downloads from elsewhere are pot luck.
    If I use Convert ID3 Tags>None before converting to v2.3 as you suggested, how many times is "several times" and why do I have to do it more than once? Also, what are your thoughts on 'v2.3 vs. v2.4'?
    Several is at least two, but more could be needed if a file has both v1 and v2 tags in multiple languages. If there are two tags, the first conversion to none should remove the first one, and the second conversion the second. Experiment, And stick to v2.3.
    In response to "the process removes any embedded art but otherwise preserves the data that iTunes knows". All fields excluding cover art remain the same? Does that mean that I will have to start from scratch and apply new cover art individually for each album? That would be too time consuming given the fact that I embed custom art.
    Yes, everything but artwork is held in the iTunes database and is restored with the final Convert ID3 Tags... v2.3. Use Doug's scripts SaveAlbumArtJpeg before you start and RestoreArtworkFromAlbumFolder afterwards to save and the restore your existing artwork.
    Also, what happens with my M4A files' metadata? ID3 tags are only used for MP3's, right?
    Yes, m4a/aac files have a different tag mechanism. Multiple ID3 tags is just one possible issue that you might have. You said:
    So, I experimented and moved a few of my songs to other media players after editing their tags within iTunes. And indeed the tags and/or artwork were often displayed messed up and/or incorrect, some times partially and some times completely.
    It might be worth going into some more detail about exactly what differences you noticed. iTunes can automatically associate (instead of embedding) artwork when it can match the album in the store which could be why some tracks didn't get artwork.

  • Inserting image in richtexteditor and text

    HI all,
       I am new to Flex 3. I was creating AIR application. I want to insert image in to richtexteditor and text control. I tried adding <img> tag to html source and added htmlText to richtexteditor and text control, but its not considering img tag.
       So is there way I can include image(animated GIF) in to richtexteditor and text control?
    Thanks,
    John

    create a default base block on the table with the BLOB.
    Change the BLOB item to an image item.
    Use the read_image_file built in to load images to the image item. (see online help).
    That should do it.

  • Problem with JDOM and euro character

    Hi,
    I have an xml file including euro characters () and starting with :
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-15"?>
    as it should probably be.
    However, my problem is that (JDOM and) SAXBuilder doesn't recognize the euro characters and replace them by an unknown character '?'.
    What's wrong and how can I solve it?
    Thanks in advance.

    All right, this is a a part of my code:
    ....SAXBuilder builder = new SAXBuilder( true );
    //create the document
    //this doc contains this tag <RefVersion> datadata </RefVersion>
    Document doc = builder.build( "E:\\test.xml" );
    System.out.print( "before charAt = " + "".charAt(0) + String.valueOf('\u20ac') );
    String str = "euroeuro";
    System.out.println( "euroeuro ->" + str.replace('\u20ac','O') );
    Element root = doc.getRootElement();
    //recup du noeud RefVersion
    Element version = root.getChild( "RefVersion" );
    str = version.getText();
    System.out.println( "nom= " + version.getName() + " data= " + str );
    System.out.println( "index de  ds euroeuro " + str.replace('\u20ac','O') );
    and the output is:
    before charAt =
    euroeuro ->euroOeuro
    nom= RefVersion data= data?data
    index de  ds euroeuro data?data
    So, obviously, it comes from JDOM.

  • IE7 and Multiple Embedded SWF Videos Not Working

    We have a page that contains 2 videos that are streamed from our media hosting company.  The code is fairly straightforward,
    <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://xxx.xxx.xxx/your.swf" width="400" height="300">
    <param name="movie" value=http://xxx.xxx.xxx/your.swf"" />
    <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" />
    <param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
    <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" />
    <param name="flashvars" value="streamer=rtmp://zzz.zzz.zzz/zzz.flv&autoplay=false" />
    </object>
    Similar code is used for the second video. The embed code is actually generated from the hosting company and has worked every time. Firefox and Chrome display both videos with no problem. However, IE7 only displays the second video. The first video just has white space where the video should be.
    I have used 'embed' tag and conditional object tags (for IE), rewritten the code from scratch, changed the z-index, used Flash to generate code, cleared the cache - all to no avail. Is IE7 incapable of having multiple SWF files on the same page?
    **I did notice that changing the autoplay attribute to true will allow for the video to display, however, the playback controls are not available.
    Any ideas on how to get this working in IE7?
    Thanks in advance

    Another me too. In particular the symptoms are this:
    + any YouTube video embedded within a webpage loads the poster frame and the controls, but after clicking the play button only shows the progress indicator briefly before showing "An error occurred, please try again later." within the video frame.
    + the same YouTube videos play fine on the YouTube site.
    + other Internet video plays fine, embedded or not.
    + when the error occurs Safari reports "One error in opening the page. For more information, choose Window > Activity".
    + the Activity window shows "forbidden" for http://v13.lscache4.c.youtube.com/videoplayback?ip=0.0.0.0&sparams=id%2Cexpire%2 Cip%2Cipbits%2Citag%2Calgorithm%2Cburst%2Cfactor%2Coc%3AU0dWSVhMVV9FSkNNNl9QRllH &fexp=900028&algorithm=throttle-factor&itag=34&ipbits=0&burst=40&sver=3&expire=1 274817600&key=yt1&signature=C15947474FA80C9A1B9DA597103C5FF7D621A478.0C1490DE456 5D519F602B0043A4E1F9D800417A0&factor=1.25&id=c3e8886e8b459334
    + the same URL downloads fine when visiting YouTube directly, except the signature value is different.
    I have tested the following:
    + the same computer worked fine a week or so ago
    + other computers on the same shared ADSL connection work fine
    + Firefox works fine (contrary to other's experiences)
    + deleting com.apple.Safari.plist doesn't help
    + disabling/enabling the "Enable Plug-ins" preference doesn't help
    + deleting Preferences/Macromedia folder doesn't help
    + reinstalling Flash doesn't help

  • JEditorPane: transforming between caret position in html and text/plain

    Hi all,
    I've done quite a bit of searching, and found problems similar to this one, but not this exactly, so I'll try asking it here.
    I have a JEditorPane with HTMLEditorKit, which I'm using for a WYSIWYG text editor. When the user wants to insert something, say an image, I get the caret position and insert a String into the document's underlying text.
    The problem is that if we are the WYSIWYG mode, the caret position isn't the same as the caret position in text/plaain mode.
    So if the underlying text is
    <html>
      <body>
         Some text
      </body>
    </html>the user will just see "Some text". If they place the caret between "Some" and "text", editorPane.getSelectionStart() will return '5'. But I want to insert my text at position '16' in the plain text.
    Is there a simple way to go back and forth between these two positions? Or to have getSelectionStart() to return the index relative to the text/plain mode?
    Thanks!
    Tim

    Very poor that no one answered this one.
    Did you still need the answer?
    I have 'a' answer. But not a complete one.
    In fact I only found this in search for an answer for my problem:
    http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5409216&tstart=0
    Did you actually just test out what you knew so far to test what happens?
    If you were to use the HTMLEditorKit.insertHTML function, it just wants the visual caret position. So '5' would have been reasonably correct for you.
    I was doing something like this:
                   HTML.Tag tag = null;
                   Pattern p = Pattern.compile("\\s*\\<\\s*(\\w+).*", Pattern.MULTILINE|Pattern.DOTALL);
                   Matcher m = p.matcher(text);
                   if (m.matches())
                        tag = HTML.getTag(m.group(1));
                   kit.insertHTML(doc, offset,// +1
                                  text, 0,// 0
                                  0,// 0
                                  tag);
    Assuming you were inserting a tag, my code there checks what tag it is, and if that is known by the java implementation, assigns that to 'tag', so that the element is correctly inserted.
    If it is not known, we just use 'null'. Which for me wasn't such a great result.
    In fact, nothing really was a great result, as with the default java implementation being buggy (so far as I can see) it inserted to the wrong position and caused all sorts of anomalies.
    Hope you worked it out. And if you did, and have a better result than what I have, maybe you can let me know what you did!
    Sincerely,
    sean

  • Why do my photos and text disinigrate quality (appear fuzzy / blurry / lo res) in premier pro cs6?

    Premier Pro CS6 Question.....
    Why do my photos and text disinigrate quality when imported to premier pro cs6?
    I have still shots that have text and they look clean and crisp when I view them in photoshop. Why does the photo and text look so fuzzy or blurry and not crisp when I import the still files into premier pro cs6?
    Is there a setting in premier that I am setting incorrectly? That is possibly blurring my photos and text? The problem appears in both my PR file and my final exported work.
    Is there a way to retain the quality of the image and text that I see in my photoshop file?
    Note: I am not enlarging anything after import, I am reducing though, but I would think this would only make images and text sharper????
    Any help would be greatly appreciated, Im getting tired of doing all my work and delivering blurry / fuzzy / what appears to be low resolution images and text when I complete my project.

  • How to store XML and search within tags

    My question
    ===========
    exactly what steps do you need follow to take an XML doc, store
    it, and query based on a tag value.
    The 8i Intermedia text option Reference refers to
    XLM_SECTION_GROUP feature. However, no examples are given. There
    is no user guide.
    I searched Oracle's website and found one reference to
    XML_SECTION_GROUP. The example given is a single row insert into
    a CLOB column with a single pair of tags.
    This whitepaper gives an example of an XML doc, and a query on
    it:
    XML Support in Oracle8i and Beyond
    November 9, 1998
    It doesn't list the steps in between storing the doc and quering
    it. This is crucial to the whole thing: does XML_SECTION_GROUP
    allow all nested tags below the top level to be sectioned and
    indexed implicitly? Or do you need to tell Oracle about all the
    tags you are interested in, in which case what value is added by
    the XLM_SECTION_GROUP?
    Does Oracle have some better examples on this?
    Below is text cut and pasted from the whitepaper.

    Once instances of iFS file types (including XML-based ones) are
    stored in the database, their
    content can be searched using standard SQL queries, and these
    files can be organized, browsed,
    and versioned using familiar tools like the Windows Explorer.
    So an insurance agent sees a
    directory of InsuranceClaim files sheFs recently worked on in
    the field, while an
    InsuranceClaim-processing application developer can work with
    the information in the
    InsuranceClaim in any way he needs to.

    Any XML documents or document fragments saved into "text blobs"
    in the database can be
    enabled for indexing by Oracle8i InterMediaFs ConText

    enhanced for Oracle8i to allow developers to pinpoint their
    searches to a particular section of a
    document, where sections are implicitly defined by the XML tags
    in the document (fragment).
    Since ConText is seamlessly integrated into the database and
    the SQL language, developers can

    and indexed document fragments.
    For example, Figure 6 shows the SQL statement you would write

    : I searched Oracle's website and found one reference to
    : XML_SECTION_GROUP. The example given is a single row insert
    into
    : a CLOB column with a single pair of tags.
    : This whitepaper gives an example of an XML doc, and a query on
    : it:
    : XML Support in Oracle8i and Beyond
    : November 9, 1998
    : It doesn't list the steps in between storing the doc and
    quering
    : it. This is crucial to the whole thing: does XML_SECTION_GROUP
    : allow all nested tags below the top level to be sectioned and
    : indexed implicitly? Or do you need to tell Oracle about all
    the
    : tags you are interested in, in which case what value is added
    by
    : the XLM_SECTION_GROUP?
    : Does Oracle have some better examples on this?
    : Below is text cut and pasted from the whitepaper.
    : -----------x---------
    : Figure 5: InsuranceClaim Mixes Structured Data and Text
    : <?xml version="1.0"?>
    : <InsuranceClaim>
    : <ClaimID>12345</ClaimID>
    : <LossCategory>7</LossCategory>
    : <Settlements>
    : <Payment>
    : <Payee>Borden Real Estate</Payee>
    : <Date>12-OCT-1998</Date>
    : <Amount>200000</Amount>
    : <Approver>JCOX</Approver>
    : </Payment>
    : </Settlements>
    : <DamageReport>
    : A massive <Cause>Fire</Cause> ravaged the building
    : and
    : <Casualties>12</Casualties> people were killed.
    : Early
    : FBI reports indicate that <Motive>arson</Motive> is
    : suspected.
    : </DamageReport>
    : </InsuranceClaim>
    : Once instances of iFS file types (including XML-based ones)
    are
    : stored in the database, their
    : content can be searched using standard SQL queries, and
    these
    : files can be organized, browsed,
    : and versioned using familiar tools like the Windows
    Explorer.
    : So an insurance agent sees a
    : directory of InsuranceClaim files sheFs recently worked on
    in
    : the field, while an
    : InsuranceClaim-processing application developer can work
    with
    : the information in the
    : InsuranceClaim in any way he needs to.
    : XML-Enabled "Section Searches" in ConText
    : Any XML documents or document fragments saved into "text
    blobs"
    : in the database can be
    : enabled for indexing by Oracle8i InterMediaFs ConText
    : text-search engine. ConText has been
    : enhanced for Oracle8i to allow developers to pinpoint their
    : searches to a particular section of a
    : document, where sections are implicitly defined by the XML
    tags
    : in the document (fragment).
    : Since ConText is seamlessly integrated into the database and
    : the SQL language, developers can
    : use SQL to perform queries that involve both structured data
    : and indexed document fragments.
    : For example, Figure 6 shows the SQL statement you would
    write
    : to search one million
    : Insurance Claims in your database to answer the
    question, "How
    : much money has Jim Cox
    : approved to date in settlement payments for arson-related
    fire
    : claims? "
    : Figure 6: Searching on a Column & Text in XML
    : Sections
    : SELECT SUM(Amount)
    : FROM Claim_Header ch,
    : Claim_Settlements cs,
    : Claim_Settlement_Payments csp
    : WHERE csp.Approver = 'JCOX'
    : AND CONTAINS (DamageReport, 'Arson WITHIN Motive') >
    : 0
    : AND CONTAINS (DamageReport, 'Fire WITHIN Cause' ) >
    : 0
    : AND . . . /* Join Clauses */
    Currently you cannot break apart an arbitrary XML doc and store
    it into the database without using XSLT to create DDL to insert
    it. You can create a schema and have XML be read and written to
    it. Check out the XML SQL Utility available here for download.
    As for the section searching, in 8.1.5 you can only get section
    searching not hierarchical searches. interMedia in this version
    doesn't understand the XML structure. This will come in 8.1.6.

  • Font and text handling in iWeb.

    Hello, everyone.
    How are fonts and text handled by iWeb ? I am now working on a website and have chosen to work with Gil Sans as one of my primary fonts.
    Is this font included as default in a standard installation of Windows ? What about OS X ?
    In case I create iWeb pages using this font what will happen when I publish these pages ? Will they be preserved as text ? In this case how will this font be handled by Windows and OS X ? Will the OS's replaced the absent font with another one ? What would the selection of a replacement be based on ?
    Or will iWeb replace the text created in Gil Sans with an image of the text to ensure that the display of the web page follows my intended format ?
    Thank you in advance,
    Joseph

    Here is a list of websafe fonts:
    http://www.ampsoft.net/webdesign-l/WindowsMacFonts.html
    You might want to google 'web safe fonts' and compare other lists to that one just to check.
    1. I think you're talking about ALT tags. You could do this as a workaround but it would still be slow loading, and search engines would index it as images, so your text would appear in Google images for example. You might also want to consider whether anyone might need to copy and paste any of your text at some point, and whether you'd ever need to print pages (they will be more ink-intensive and lower quality).
    2. You can embed fonts in your webpage; however this only works on PCs and Macs running Windows: http://www.sean.co.uk/a/webdesign/embeddingfonts_inwebpages.shtm
    Another way around it is to offer an install of the font (check it's shareware and don't forget to offer both Mac and PC versions) and recommend to your visitors that they install it.
    Also remember that whichever font you use, a visitor may have altered their browser settings to display your text differently anyway.
