  • Deployment of .war file using JMX in jboss 4.0.5 GA

    Hi,
    Can anyone help me out in the steps of deployment of .war file using JMX in JBOSS 4.0.5 server.I went through the documentation in jboss.org but couldn't find a suitable one though there were many.Any links/url that you know about the deployment process will also be helpful to me.
    Thanks

    You're probably using an older version of JavaMail where there was a bug in the example
    DummySSLSocketFactory. Download the latest version and the example is correct.
    Also, if you're using DummySSLSocketFactory just to control which servers you trust,
    JavaMail 1.4.3 has some properties that will make this easier for you and avoid the need
    for DummySSLSocketFactory. In particular, see the mail.imaps.ssl.trust property.

    - right click on the project then select my-eclipse > Add and Remove Project Deployment's
    - a new window will open and you can now configure how you deploy your project :-)
    other alternative edit your jboss-service.xml then put something like this
    <attribute name="URLs">deploy/, file:/D:/workspace/deploy</attribute>
    (note, change the path according to your needs)

  • JMX and Oracle's Application Server

    Hello,
    I am building a new EJB application and wanted to add logging support to it via Log4j (which I was considering doing using JMX). The EJB application must be deployable on both Oracle's application server and JBoss- (all development centers around Jboss now). Looking through the Log4j list archives it was recommended that the "loggers" be retrieved from JNDI. To get the loggers into JNDI and facilitate runtime configuration, I was considering using JMX (MBean) to set things up. Will my proposed solution work on Oracle's application server?
    Thanks

  • Questions on JMX and management-config

    I was wondering if anyone can clarify the usage of management-config.
    We've got a setup with managed-nodes=all and allow-remote-management=true (other params defaulted). We've got processes that occasionally ping the cluster (via a single node) to log performance statistics and to look for problems that might require intervention (across all nodes via remote management).
    I'm trying to determine if the JMX subsystem is completely isolated from runtime cache performance.
    1) Does the setting for the read-only flag impact performance in any way? If set to false, is there any sort of locking or synchronization that takes place when querying cluster nodes?
    2) Do calls to JMX (and presumably the Invocation Service) share any resources with a Distributed Cache Service?
    3) the Default management-config settings in Tangosol-coherence.xml point to the "Management" service - which is not actually defined elsewhere in the configuration file. Is this actually an implicit link to the Invocation Service?
    4) Is there a single "Service Thread"? or does each distinct service have its own service thread?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

    The performance impact of management is relatively small. The consumption is based on the information "read" (getAttribute/getAttribute) and the frequency of the poll. Polls of the same data element within 1 second will receive the same result for remote nodes.
    The formula to determine the network consumption estimation formula for Coherence 3.3 on a single poll of the information is:
    Estimated network bytes per poll =
    Number of remote Node MBeans retrieved * 725
    + Number of remote Cache MBeans retrieved * 225
    + Number of remote Storage Manager MBeans Retrieved * 720
    + Number of remote Service MBeans Retrieved * 144
    + Number of remote Point to Point MBeans * (Number of Nodes in Grid -1 * 250)
    Given the order N size of the Point-to-Point MBeans, It is not recommended to put that information in a loop for a large cluster.
    1) Does the setting for the read-only flag impact performance in any way? If set to false, is there any sort of locking or synchronization that takes place when querying cluster nodes?
    EW: The Read-only flag does not impact performance. There is no synchronization on read of the objects. Synchronization on update is on an attribute by attribute basis.
    2) Do calls to JMX (and presumably the Invocation Service) share any resources with a Distributed Cache Service?
    EW: The JMX calls are processed through the Management (Invocation) Service. This shares system (memory, CPU, network) resources with other services. The management information is not processed out-of-band and under extreme load performance will be impacted.
    3) the Default management-config settings in Tangosol-coherence.xml point to the "Management" service - which is not actually defined elsewhere in the configuration file. Is this actually an implicit link to the Invocation Service?
    EW: The Management service is a non-configurable Invocation service.
    4) Is there a single "Service Thread"? or does each distinct service have its own service thread?
    EW : Not exactly sure I understand the question. Each service has its' own "Service" thread and thread pool. However, there are some shared components at the TCMP (network) layer.
    Hope this helps,
    Everett Williams

  • Tomcat and JBoss

    Hello! I'm not that new to web programming in Java but there are some things that I think I need to fully understand. Can anyone here give me a comparison between Tomcat and JBoss? What are the similarities and key differences between the two? Tomcat is a servlet container while JBoss is an application container(?? not sure about that, still haven't read enough about it).
    Thanks in advance,
    Romaine

    Hi Romaine,
    Tomcat is not only a servelet container...its actually the webserver which is a servlet container and jsp engine as well.
    Where as JBOSS is one of the application servers where it provides the run time environment for the business components( the ejbs) in addition to the support environment for servlets and jsps.
    examples of application servers: JBOSS, WEBLOGIC, WEBSPHERE

  • Transaction Isolation level in WebSphere and JBOSS???

    Hi,
    How to set up the transaction isolation level in Websphere and JBOSS???
    In weblogic, we can set it in weblogic-ejb-jar.xml. Is there any other file where we can set the isolation level in websphere and jboss???
    What is the difference between all the 4 isolation levels such as
    1) Transaction_committed
    2) Transaction_uncommitted
    3)Transaction_Repeatable_read
    4)Transaction_serializable
    Thanks,
    JavaCrazyLover

    In WebSphere 5.1 you can set the isolation level using resource reference. The following link describes the steps involved in this operation. I am not aware how to do the same thing in JBoss.

  • JAAS and JBOSS

    I'm trying to use JAAS to log in a user on a JBOSS app, but am running into a problem. I'm able to successfully authenticate the user, and retrieve a Subject from my LoginContext. However, once that request is done (i.e. the browser displays the "log in complete" page), the application seems to forget that the user was logged in. How does JAAS and JBOSS keep track of the logged in user? Is this done by keeping a singleton of LoginContext around in some scope? Right now I'm creating a new instance of LoginContext, and using it to load a new instance of my CallbackHandler. Note, when I used JBOSS default form based authentication, it kept the user logged in. However, I can't use their default auth because I have some custom things I need to do.
    Thanks in advance for any help you provide.

    Hi,
    I tested this on OC4J for you and here - after setting jbo.security.enforce to Must, the user principal name and the roles are displayed.
    So there are three possibilities why you don't see things working
    - JBoss doesn't add the role principals to the Subject so they become available in the session
    - You attempt accessing this information in a prepareSession() override without enforcing authentication to happen for the root page - URL pattern = /
    - ADF BC security doesn't recognize the custom role principal
    After briefly reviewing the security implementation code, it seems that ADF BC security is dependent on Oracle JAZN for authorization.

  • Weblogic.jar 9.2 and jboss

    why when i put weblogic.jar in the jboss classpath or in my .war classpath = web-inf/lib all of its classes are class not found exception
    is there a problem with this jar being inside jboss
    if i take the same jar and run my application on eclipse everything works fine
    but when i debug this problem and try to loader classes, they are not found
    its like it being ignored and not loaded like the rest of my jars in the classpath.
    is this got anything to do with security?
    Edited by: user8709596 on Sep 6, 2009 4:23 AM

    found a fix to this problem
    weblogic.jar is a standalone jar
    remove all javax folder from this jar and this solves the problem
    and jboss will load the jar successfuly

  • Clarrification about JSF and JBoss Seam

    Hi ,
    i have just started a couple of hours ago reading about JSF and JBoss Seam and it seems interesting ......
    here is my question :
    i have a form ( registration form ) written in jsp and a congratulation page (jsp page too)
    is right what i am saying ?
    JSF form ( input values) are sent to Seam to be validated under hibernate rules and then it( Seam ) responses to the JSF the entity bean .
    again JSF form asks Seam to resolve the variable Register ( the value of the submit button in the form) and Seam returns the RegisterACtion
    After that the same jsp page invoke the register method of the RegisterAction stateless session beam .inside the register method it redirect the user to congratulation jsp page .
    do you think its correct
    sorry folks for my english

  • EJB and JBOSS

    Hi, My company is currently trying to migrate from Weblogic to JBoss.
    We have all the jar, war, and xml file.
    However, I'm not familiar with all these.
    Could someone explain to me what;s the appropriate things to do.
    All i know is that putting the war or jar file in a certain directory on Weblogic would result in those files being deployed.
    Would JBoss work the same way?
    Can I just put these files and will it get deployed?
    I have looked through the web and mostly what they're talking about is creating ejbs from scratch (and .ear file also new thing to me) ... which is too technical for me.
    Can someone suggest a solution please.
    I'm a newbie to this technology.
    All help/reply would be a great help.
    thanks in advance.

    Greetings,
    Would JBoss work the same way?
    Can I just put these files and will it get deployed?Yes, JBoss offers a similar deployment strategy. Presuming you are using JBoss 3.x and starting with default configuration you would place your components into ${JBOSS_HOME}/server/default/deploy and JBoss will auto-deploy them - er, assuming there are no errors in your components... ;) If there are errors then these will either be displayed on the console or in the 'console log' file depending on your startup strategy.

    I'm a newbie to this technology.Where most of your difficulties are likely to play is in configuring your application's infrastructure - i.e. resources, security model, transactions, etc. Application Servers tend to differ quite a bit on such things (rather, on how to do them...), and JBoss is no exception. Furthermore, JBoss does not have a native GUI for these things which may complicate the matter even more. The best place to start for configuration issues is with the JBoss 3.0.x QuickStart Guide. This book-length guide provides a lot more detail on these matters than might be expected from typical "quick start" document and is available in PDF format for free from the JBoss site Documentation page. While you're there, it is worth-while to investigate the commercial documentation offerings on the same page...
    All help/reply would be a great help.
    thanks in advance.Regards,

  • Log4j and Jboss are acting weird

    This question is reagards to Log4j and JBoss and I thought this is the best place to ask this question.
    I am using Jboss 3.2.3. My purpose was to log messages in a seperate file "developer.log" using Log4j. These messages has to be logged in this file only. So in my WAR's folder under WEB-INF/classes I created a file log4j.properties:
    log4j.logger.standard=DEBUG, devlog
    log4j.appender.devlog=org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender
    log4j.appender.devlog.File=C:/logs/developer.log
    log4j.appender.devlog.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout
    log4j.appender.devlog.layout.ConversionPattern=%d{ABSOLUTE} %5p %c{1}:%L - %m%nNow my code :
    import org.apache.log4j.Logger;
    private static Logger log = Logger.getLogger("standard");
    log.debug("a debug message");
    log.info("a info message");
    log.warn("a war message");I test run this code without Jboss and it works perfect. It created a file "developer.log" in the desired location and logs messages in it.
    Now i run with JBoss. JBoss does not create "developer.log" file at all. Instead it logs all the messages in server.log
    2005-09-30 23:07:35,459 DEBUG [standard] a debug message
    Jboss is recognizing that it is standard but after that it is not gving me the desired results. Any input on how to fix this problem?
    TIA

    You can tell it you don't want to inherit, by adding
    this to your "standard" category tag:
    <category name="standard" additivity="false">
    thanks. it works perfect.
    ok i got it working kind of. Jboss already comeswith
    a log4j.xml so i put my log4j stuff in this file :You should be able to deploy your own log4j.xml with
    your app's resource files and make it use yours when
    it is running your app.Ok I took out my stuff from Jboss log4j.xml, create a new xml progtest.log4j.xml like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE log4j:configuration SYSTEM "log4j.dtd">
    <log4j:configuration xmlns:log4j="http://jakarta.apache.org/log4j/" debug="false">
      <appender name="DEVLOG" class="org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender">
        <param name="File" value="${jboss.server.home.dir}/log/developer.log" />
        <param name="Append" value="true" />
        <layout class="org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout">
          <param name="ConversionPattern" value="%d{ABSOLUTE} %5p %c{1}:%L - %m%n" />
        </layout>
      </appender>
      <category name="standard" additivity="false">
        <priority value="INFO"/>
        <appender-ref ref="DEVLOG" />
      </category>
    </log4j:configuration>My web application is in a ProgTest.WAR folder. I put the above file "progtest.log4j.xml" under WEB-INF/classes in ProgTest.WAR folder. When i run the app the very first problem again arises that no developer.log file was created; instead the concerned messages were put into server.log and console.
    All my classes are in one jar file. I include progtest.log4j.xml in that jar file, redeploy it and test it but still the same problem.
    What i am doing wrong here?
    Thanks
