JNI communication with MFC COM DLL issue

Hello all,
I have a MFC COM dll which exposes a method to be called from Java. For this I am using JNI.
This method is written to set an integer value into a Microsoft Project Plan. There is some unknown error at the statement where the setting is done, causing the Java application to crash (JVM crash).
What could be the reason?
Regards,
Hemanth

if the JVM crashes, the problem is in the native code. "Something" in the DLL is causing an error. What that something is nobody can tell you.
If you can, I would create a shadow setup in a C++ application that does exactly the same as the Java code and see if that works; if it does at least you know there is something wrong with the JNI setup. If it doesn't you can easily debug the problem.

  • Forms with COM dll

    Hello!
    Our program developed by Forms 6i.
    Can we call to COM dll and how can we do it if possible?
    Thanks!

    if you're on client-server there are two possibilities:
    Use ORA_FFI to map the C-calls from the dll to pl/sql-calls or (if supported by COM.dll) use OLE to communicate with the COM.dll over OLE.
    Be aware that migrating your application to 10g (which you will need to do at some time) the ORA_FFI-solution will be harder to migrate.
    For details on ORA_FFI have a lok at the Forms 6i-online help, there should be examples in it.

  • CR XI R1: viewer can't open report with UFL from COM dll

    Hello all!
    I faced the following problem: report which is uses functions from COM dll doesn't works on customer's pc. CRViewer throws exception when calling ViewReport() method. GetLastError() gives just 0 ...
    All other reports without functions from COM DLL are working on that PC however. Moreover, reports which uses function from non-COM DLL are also working.
    Versions & environment:
    - Report file is designed in CR11, CR Developer; Product type: Full, Product Version: 11.0.0.895
    - Runtime files on customers pc installed by .msi created from merge modules for Crystal Reports XI RDC Deployments (latest available SP4 for CR XI R1: [crxi_rdc_merge_modules.zip|http://resources.businessobjects.com/support/communityCS/FilesAndUpdates/crXI_rdc_merge_modules.zip], as listed on [this|http://resources.businessobjects.com/support/additional_downloads/runtime.asp] page)
    - target OS: WindowsXP SP3, all updates are installed
    - i'm using COM crviewer, but there are some points in application where report is opened using CRPE api - it is also crashing on reports with custom functions from COM DLL
    - UFL DLL is registered and loaded correctly (investigated by debug output), looks like crash occured during attemt to call function
    - just for test I tried to install CR Developer on customers PC: it successfully opens all "problem" reports, but the viewer in application still crashing ...
    I would appreciate any tips / suggestions. Please also let me know if I need to specify versions of other products / components.
    Thx,
    Andrew

    Sorry, but you have to define "viewer just crashed". To different people this means different things; error, viewer never shows up, application terminates, etc., etc., etc....
    If the issue is only 10% of computers then it is not
    Re. "...could be caused by:"
    - previous installation of CR8.5 (or earlier) runtime (how to cleanup it correctly?)
    possibly - see below
    - OS configuration (what we need to ajust?)
    probably not - as long as it's the same OS and SPs
    - something missing in our code (but why it works in 90% cases?)
    -no
    - something wrong with CRXI runtime (but we a using latest available MSMs, and again, this works in 90% ...)
    possibly see below.
    I would approach the issue by running [Modules|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip] and comparing the dlls loading on a computer that works and one that "crashes"...
    Your second utility is [Process Monitor|http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx] but ProcMon creates large and difficult to read files.
    Oh, and get the powers that be to start to consider moving away from this legacy "stuff". Like I said, PE APIs have been gone since version 9 of CR and RDC has been retired in CR XI R2 (11.5). Neither product is supported anymore.

  • Calling COM DLLs using JNI

    I am able to call ordinary dlls from my java application using JNI, by exporting the function from my DLL.
    What can I do to call COM DLLs using JNI which do not expose the
    Functions directly.

    Is this a COM dll that you have written or do you merely have the dll?
    If you merely have the dll, there are some third party tools that will generate Java interfaces to COM objects from the dll.
    Although I don't endorse these products or work for them I've used them before with some success:

  • MFC Extension DLL or MFC DLL with "Automation"

    I've been planning a project for quite some time now that uses MFC code and is heavily object oriented. A couple MFC applications run on top of the dll formed platform and draw on various functional objects stored in a DLL. For the time being, I've been
    struggling to get them to link together, so I was wondering what kind of DLL I should use.
    Both Extension DLL's and the feature automation have their merits. But when the Extension DLL is selected, the Automation option is greyed out. What exactly is the difference and which one would be better to use.
    Until such a time I attempt to port the project over to another platform, I don't intend to use non-MFC software run on top of these libraries so non-MFC shouldn't be an issue.

    If you want to build automation components, you'll want to use a regular DLL.
    The following help topics might help clarify:
    Extension DLLs
    Using Database, OLE, and Socket Extension DLL's in Regular DLLs
    Think of it this way. An extension DLL extends MFC, so can only be utilized by an MFC based application.But a COM DLL is a stand alone component, that can be utilized by non-MFC applications, which by definition precludes them from being extension
    DLL's.

    my wireless key board doesn't seem to communication with my computer even though bluetooth shows it is connected.  I have changed the batteries on the keyboard and when turn on the key board the green lights comes on shortly and disappears.  Can any one  help?

    Hey Annar99,
    I found a few articles that might help with the issue you're encountering. These first two are if the Bluetooth keyboard you're using is the one that came with your iMac. The first is a general "how to" for setting up your Apple Wireless keyboard, while the second one is for troubleshooting if the advice in the first article isn't working:

  • Commands to FTDI virtual COM port via NI VISA interfere with communication with FTDI chip using D2XX drivers

    Hello!
    I am trying to communicate with a DLP Design module DLP-USB1232H which uses an FTDI chip.  My program uses the D2XX drivers.  It works, but...
    In another program that runs at the same time, I'm communicating with another instrument via a virtual COM port (VCP) that uses an FTDI UART.  In this program, I use the VISA Serial Port functions.  It works, too, but...
    The first program has the capability of listing all the FTDI devices in the system prior to choosing the right one to communicate with.  When the VCP is plugged in, it lists it (FT232R USB UART) along with the DLP-USB1232H and communication with the latter device works.   But as soon as the second program sends a command through the VCP, the first program no longer "sees" any FTDI device.  It stops working.
    I have tried 2 different FTDI VCPs; one a standalone cable and the other built in to the instrument.
    I’m using Windows 7 32-bit.  My programs are both LabVIEW 8.5 executables.
    Is VISA "taking over" the channel to the DLP-USB1232H?  Does someone who understands NI's implementation of VISA have any ideas on why VISA is doing this?  Or if something else is going on?
    I'm also interested in workaround ideas.  I've tried a "Prolific" VCP, but most drivers don't work and the one that doesn't give an error in Device Manager doesn't communicate with the instrument.
    Cheers
    Halden
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Halden,
    It really sounds like you have a resource conflict. That occurs when two programs or parts of programs try to use the same device or port at the same time.  Your Get Device Function probably tries to open a session with each port (as you increment the index). When it hits a port which is being used by the other driver, it cannot open the session and stops working? Have you examined the errors returned by each program? The VISA drivers will return an error when the port is in use.  I do not know about your program or drivers, but I would expect some kind of error.  Automatic error handling in LabVIEW will not catch errors from a driver if it does not translate them to LV error clusters. So do not count on automatic error handling, if you use it, to display all possible errors.

    I am trying to restore my iphone 4 ios 6 to acheive unlock.  hit restore and it unloads software, confirms with apple then displays the 3194 error.  I have turned off my virus scanner, unplugged all usb except for iphone, edited the hosts file and run diagnostics which showes communication with apple is fine.  What do I need to do to get my ipone to restore?

    There is nothing wrong with the OS update.
    Delete ALL your email accounts.
    Restart Playbook
    Put the accounts back and ensure they are all set with PUSH ON.  Manual (push off) will burn battery.
    Similarly delete your wifi connections and add back when required.
    Turn off wifi is not connected to wifi.
    Any "hunting for connection" in email or wifi will burn up battery.

  • Cannot initiate communication with Pathlore LMS

    We have a Pathlore Learning Management System that has an
    on-line course based on Authorware. Upon startup of the course, a
    communication link is established between the Authorware material
    and the Pathlore LMS. However, for some of our sites (in Latin
    America) the initialization of communication fails with the
    following error:
    Unable to eVal expression:
    Post URL ("
    http://...address...psciis.dll",PWInternalAICCPData,30)
    Authorware error: -2147216532
    At this point, communication with the Pathlore LMS fails and
    no successful course completion can be recorded. Can anyone suggest
    a possible fix either in our environment or the course material?
    Regards,
    Domenick Lapolla

    A WAG would be that the separator is different, likely a
    semi-colon
    instead of a comma - or something like that. I'd guess the
    eval
    statement is doing something to the path, or the separator
    for the
    argument is unrecognized.
    Can you change the Regional Options so commas are specified
    as the
    default separator? Like perhaps by changing the Location or
    'Standards
    and Formats' to English/United States?
    If that fixes the problem, you found the issue.
    Unfortunately, there's
    likely no way to change that in the Authorware code..?

  • Unable to render video in PSCS4 - Error Messages- QT DLL Issue??

    I started this thread in the Adobe Forums for PhotshopCS4, but the consensus there was that my issue is a QuickTime issue, perhaps with a DLL and iTunes. I have included a few of those suggestions at the end of the post. I have tried uninstalling QT Pro, cleaning and reinstalling with no improvement. I have not removed iTunes and reinstalled.
    `````````````````
    I am unable to render video it seems in Photoshop CS4 Extended. Despite having the latest QuickTime Pro installed and all updates to Vista 32 bit and to CS4 Design Premium, I get the following error message:
    "The procedure entry point CFCreateApplicationRepositoryPath could not be located in the data link library CoreFoundation.dll"
    This happens when, for example, I load 100 medium resolution JPEGs as an image sequence and choose File >Export > Render Video.
    If I OK through the error a couple of times I get a screen with output options, but usually some are greyed out. When I CAN put in QuickTime settings and choose export I get the following error:
    "Could not complete the Render Video Command because of a program error."
    When I have opened a support case with Adobe it has regularly been closed after being told to get QuickTime 7.2 or higher. GGGrrrr. I have QT 7.6.5 Pro installed.
    Any help much appreciated....I do have Premiere Elements 7 installed as well FYI.
    Was your QT properly installed with correct privileges? As Mr. Cox said, it seems there is an issue with your QT install. also, in the QT system control panle, enable the Allow Encoding using Legacy CoDecs option. this often fixes the weirdest issues (as it also catches a number of other legacy calls to QT components)...
    Mylenium
    Thanks guys- the QT install SEEMS fine....? I will try allowing legacy CODECs and if that doesnt ehlp I will totally uninstall QT Pro, clean the registry, reboot and install QT from the top. Will let you know how I get on with this.
    Phil
    I have enabled using legacy CODECs and restarted, same error message.
    I have completely uninstalled QuickTime(Pro), run CCleaner to clear files and the registry...I have then rebooted, reinstalled Quicktime(Pro) 7.6.5, rebooted. I get the very same error message at that time.
    Any further suggestions appreciated.
    All the google searches point directly at Apple like Chris pointed out. I noticed that there were a lot of Apple product hits but the most standing out was itunes. Did you happen to install itunes software (or some other Apple product) and maybe itunes over-wrote the .DLL? Other then that thought I don't have any other input.
    I agree this is an issue with an Apple DLL. The error you're getting suggests that the wrong version of the DLL is being used. It means that the thing that is rendering the video is expecting the CoreFoundation DLL to have a particular function called CFCreateRepositoryPath but it's not there.
    What could be happening is that there are multiple instances of this DLL on the computer and the PATH is leading to the wrong one.
    You might search your entire hard-drive and find where the CoreFoundation DLL exists and what version each is. If there is only one version, then perhaps your version of QuickTime is actually too new. Photoshop 11.0.1 came out a long time ago, and the version of QuickTime referred to in the support-ticket-closure response is also pretty old, so maybe the newest QuickTime is using a newer version of the DLL that Photoshop knows how to deal with.
    Searching my system for CoreFoundation. there is one smaller version of the DLL in Apple Application Support dated in November and then several larger ones in directories dealing with mobile phones like the iPhone, which I don't have one of, dated a few months earlier.
    I'm guessing the iPhone stuff came with iTunes, which I do have installed, though I don't really use it.
    Thanks for looking, really hoping for some help here.
    "The procedure entry point CFCreateApplicationRepositoryPath could not be located in the data link library CoreFoundation.dll"
    Thanks for all the detailed information, pw. It's very helpful.
    Okay, the most recent versions of QuickTime require a fully functional Apple Application Support in order to run properly. You're getting a problem with one of the Apple Application Support dlls. So the best thing to do first would be to uninstall both Apple Application Support and QuickTime, and then reinstalling QuickTime (which should reinstall a fresh version of Apple Application Support).
    There's 7/Vista 32-bit instructions for doing that in the following post:
  • ITunes Seem to Have Suddenly Stopped Communicating With the CD/DVD Burner
    Hello, I wonder if anybody can help - my itunes application seems to have suddenly stopped communicating with my laptop's cd/dvd burner
    (Generic Name (E: H - T-S D D A S - 20N ATA Device)).
    About 2 years ago, I have experienced a similar problem, but was able to resolve it by downloading 64-bit compatible GEAR drivers to my system. However, the problem has re-appeared when I have updated to iTunes Version 10.1. Funny enough, the cd/dvd burner started getting recognized again when I updated to iTunes Version 10.2, but halfway through me burning a large playlist to multiple cds has suddenly stopped recognizing the cd/dvd burner again, and has never "resolved itself" ever since.
    I have tried multiple approaches to solving this issue, including completely re-installing itunes software and completely re-installing GEAR drivers, but nothing works. I have even tried uninstalling GEAR drivers completely, as I read that it worked for someone on one of the similar forums, but that didn't work either.
    My itunes diagnostics runs all the points of the cd/dvd drive check successfully, except for the last point (Can Not Read Audio CD). Here's what the diagnostics summary looks like:
    Another frustrating issue that I ran into was trying to convey this issue to Apple Technical Support via e-mail using the Express Lane for the troubleshooting issues. I really fail to understand why I am being asked for the "hardware serial number" when I'm clearly choosing the categories for "iTunes/CD-DVD Import Issues" which are software, not hardware, categories! This prevents me from being able to simply send the description of my problem to the correct Apple Support department, and does not let me do that even when I enter my itunes' Serial Number, which can be found in the diagnostics summary provided above.
    Much Thanks to anyone who can provide any kind of helpful advice, even if it's just on how to be able to convey this problem to Apple Support via e-mail!
    Okay ... checking something else:
    Current user is not an administrator
    Is that true? Or do you in fact have a Windows user account with full administrative rights?
    (It's possible that a permission may have gone astray in your usual user account, which might be causing the burning issues.)
