Jog / Unwanted Spacing in Header

Using Dreamweaver CS3 I have encountered either a browser bug or error (the latter on my part).
On the web site I built (http://www.PaulRussell.net) there are unwanted gaps with a header cell. The gaps are both at the top and bottom of the cell exposing the background used for the page.
You can see it here on the image below (the area of crimson banding):
In Dreamweaver preview the cell with the crimson color fills the entire cell. When viewed in any browser the gaps (top and bottom) appear. At first this only happened in Firefox but then when I.E. upgraded the gaps began apearing in that browser platform as well.
I've checked all CSS rules and cell dimensions; all is correct.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Thank you.

  • Unwanted spacing between divs in IE

I'm in the beginning stages of laying out a website in CSS
and I have already ran into a problem. I have a "header" div and a
"nav" div stacked directly on top of each other. When I test in
firefox everything looks fine, but in IE there is a space that I
can not make disappear for the life of me.
Here are links to the page and the CSS file:

Help is greatly appreciated!!! Thank you

Image tags are inline tags. Being inline, they are rendered
    in 'text
boxes'. Text boxes have space at the bottom for glyph
    descenders, like on
"g" or "j" (and space at the top, too). By making that image
    display:block,
    you remove the space requirement.

  • Unwanted gap in header

    hello
I have a website at http://www.jonestownstables.com/ that has a gap in the header and I have not been able to remove the gap. I have a header container division with the header and a header top and bottom division. I use the top and bottom divisions to put a graphic with rounded corners on the header. I cannot figure out why the top graphic has a gap between itself and the header. I want to remove this. Thank you for your time.
Below is my html and css.

  • MTA adding unwanted Return-Path header

    Hi all,
I have a problem with a Messaging Server (Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.2-7.05 (built Sep 5 2006)) running on Solaris 10 SPARC .
Every outgoing mail seems to get an additional Return-Path header with the sender address, even when there is already an identical one. The problem is that the remote server does not really like that since this is a closed system with a strict inter-server communication protocol which does not allow for more than one return-path in the mail source (can't help about that).
This is an excerpt from the mail.log :

The presence of the "addreturnpath" option on the defaults channel definition is probably the reason.

  • Unwanted spacing in words in pdf document.

When selecting TouchUp Text, making corrections, and then saving the file a lot of the words become jumbled in the pdf document.
Words w ill sta rt   lo  king like this thr ough out the doc ume nt.
    What would be causing this?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Foremost is that PDF is not an edit-layout-format file format.
Minor touchups are supported but how well these 'take' is typically a function of whether or not the PDF is tagged.
A well-formed tagged output PDF has the an orderly logical hierarchy recorded "under-the-hood" so
    touchups behave better.
Best practice is to always retain the source authoring file from which the PDF is made.
Edit - correct in the source file and then create a new PDF.
With that said, in Acrobat 9 Pro (and maybe Standard (?)) there is an Acrobat Preference that may help.
File > Preferences > select the Category "TouchUp" > tick "Enable Text Word Wrapping" (at the bottom).
Again, if the PDF is a well-formed tagged output PDF this can be rather helpful.
Regardless, you may want to set this preference and play a bit.
    Be well...

  • Beginner - Word Spacing Question

    Hi,
I am trying to get some spacing between my words in my header. I know it must be some setting in my CSS but I am not sure of where it is.
I selected my CSS rule for my div, "#wrapper#header" and go in "Block" and try to put in any number in "Word-spacing", but when I hit "apply" it doesn't do anything. Is this the right area for applying leading between words? And what do you use anyway, ems, or pxs?
    Thanks,
    njdesigner

I'm not sure if DW supports this in Design View.  Check page in browser if you don't see the effect.  You can use any value in pixels or ems including negative numbers.  See also letter-spacing.
    #header h1 {
    word-spacing: 1.5em;
    #header p {
    word-spacing:-5px;

    Hi!,
I am having a problem with report printing, say if a report is of tabular type and say extands upto 5 pages , I have left some spacing in header section for Company name & logo. It is all okay while running the report on the screen, but while printing the first page comes proper, then on the second page the distance to be left at top reduces and correspondingly goes on reducing on the forthcoming pages and son on., untill it moves to the preceeding page.

    hi,
you have to set the margin to the paper size u want to print. and u have to set the section width and heigth to the paper size. then it will work properly.

    hi
No matters let it come like that ,
delete those unwanted spaced rows , from the internal table as.
    loop at IT_LIKP into IT_LIKP.
        if it_likp-WADAT_IST =  ' '.
             delete it_likp.
        endif.
    endloop.

  • Visual aids on tables and divs

It seem in dreamweaver cs6, my divs and tables had little dotted outlines around them, so i can see where they were. In CC those have vanished and there is a blue outline when I click on them. I found the doted outlines a great visual design aid, how do i get them back.

I am a newbie, and am teaching myself how to create html e-mail. I, too cannot see table outlines. CSS is not an option for my application.
I have a split view, code on the bottom and "site" on the top.
I clicked insert > table and selected 1 row, one column, width 98%, thickness 0, padding 0, spacing 0, header none.
Then, within that table I did the same thing but this time with 4 rows for the parts of the e-mail: planning header, content 1, content 2, footer
I could not see table borders, so I read that you can make the borders 1 instead of 0 for the creation, and then go back and reset to 0 once done -- note this is live view.
In follow on with this thread, I would prefer to see the outlines in design view -- the expanded table view I've seen discussed. But when I switch to design view, there is no table, even with the cursor placed within the table in the code:
Pffffft - nothing's there. In either view, if I go to modify > table in either view, all the options are greyed out. And, if I right click I get a standard context menu with cut, copy, paste, etc.
This is Dreamweaver 2014.1 -- what am I missing?

Can we confirm that the browser preview is accurate? I read somwhere that the browser preview is prone to error. This is key. I dont care if the browser preview is glitchy as long as the final product works. Can anyone confirm that If I post my dreamweaver project online,  I have the same problems as in my preview?
Does css and html have to be written differently in Safari? If so, how do I do this?
This is incredibly frustrating. There has to be a simple solution, as everything works well in firefox.
here is another example. just made this. in firefox eveything is fine. in safari, the div box size and the text font if different:

  • Unavailable 'page protection' smartforms

    Hi all.
I need all parts of a table in a smartforms, be shown in the same page. If I select the table, and select 'Output Options', there is a flag 'Page protection', but it is in display mode, and I can't put it in change mode to mark it. Could you help me? I have marked flag 'Page protection' in Line type, but it keeps toguether the line, but not all the lines of the table.
    Thanks a lot.
    Marta.

    Hi,
    try the following options :
1.When defining the paragraph format from T Code : smart styles in tab Indents & spacing under header Text Flow there are 2 check boxes  Page Protection and Next paragraph same page . If u set these check boxes then they work like Protect - end protect in sap script.
    2. Folder option
But It all depends on the amount of data that you are trying to display on the smart from, if it is a large data it has got no option but to spread to next page.
    Revert if it works.
    Thanks,
    KC.

  • Whatever happened to call frame action

Flash contintues to get worse with every improvement to the
point where it's almost as useless as the online manual whiich
takes half an hour to open and finds trillions of results for every
keyword and none for what I want to know. I spent ages learning
Flash a couple of versions ago and its so different its like a new
    program. I really hate it.

So use an older version, right? Or go outside and play
    badminton or
something. ;) Take a jog, maybe; clear your head.

Honestly, I'm sorry to hear you're so upset by it. In truth,
    the
program has become a lot more powerful. It does so much
    *more* than it ever
used to, which means it allows *me* to do so much more than I
    ever used to.
I can't think of another program that does cartoons, web
    stuff, CD-ROM
stuff, titling and overlays for video, rich Internet
    applications, games,
and the list goes on. Thanks to Flash, I was able to quit my
    day job,
believe it or not, and make even more money working from
    home.
    > So what the bleep happened to the bleeping "call

Well, you mentioned the documentation that "takes half an
    hour to open,"
but all I had to do was hit the F1 key. The Help files opened
    in less than
a second. I searched the word "call" and found the "call
    function" entry
right away. According to the documentation, this action was
    deprecated in
favor of the function statement since Flash 5. You can still
    use it, of
course, and the details are right there at your finger tips.

  • How can I put a div at the TOP of the page with a background color? No white space

I am attempting to put an orange bar at the very top of a page and one that also stretches across the entire width of the page, no matter the page size.
With the code below the orange bar appears but there is white space between the top of the browser and the orange bar.
