Table A has id,name
Table B had parentid(foreignkey referring to ID in above table), record_type,created_timestamp
I want to get the last added record_type from Table B for all the ids present in Table A.

hi every one just simple question need help regarding the way to get the row count of a particular column and place the number of rows for Ex:if we have 5 rows then I have to place this 5 in a JList means having order as 1,2,3,.. one by one,anybody please help me out how it can be done

I am working on ALV Grid Control, i need to know how to modify the line type values to table type.
             ls_celltab-fieldname = 'ZSAVINGS '.
             ls_celltab-style = l_mode.
        INSERT ls_celltab INTO TABLE pt_celltab.
Here ls_celltab is line type and pt_celltab is table type.
Please give me the suggestion ASAP.

The easiest way to do this: set a default value for the sort column in your backing bean.
Example:
     private String sortColumn="firstName";
     public String getSortColumn() {
          return sortColumn;
     <t:dataTable sortColumn="#{yourBean.sortColumn}" ... />On page load, the arrow is set by default to the firstname column.

Query to get the Excise amount and basic amount based on the cst or vat tax

Dear all,
                   I need a right query to get the basic amount ,excise amount and the tax amount based on the CST or VAT tax rate.The output should be like this,
VAT
goods excisabe at 1% - taxable amt(basic+excise for vat 1%)            tax amt
goods excisable at 4%-   txable amt                                                       tax amt
CST
goods excisabe at 1% - taxable amt(basic+excise for CST 1%)            tax amt
My problem will also be solved..if i am able to get the basic value from base table OPCH itself............Since am using the PCH1 table to get the total basic amt...the values are duplicating.

Hi Sowjanya,
If you're simply trying to place a grand total, use the 'Insert Summary' option.
Choose the measure field as the 'Field to Summarize' > Choose 'Sum' as the summary operation > Under 'Summary Location' choose 'Grand Total Report Footer'.

Query to get the data of all the columns in a table except any one column

Can anyone please tell how to write a query to get the data of all the columns in a table except one particular column..
For Example:
Let us consider the EMP table.,
From this table except the column comm all the remaining columns of the table should be listed
For this we can write a query like this..
Select empno, ename, job, mgr, sal, hiredate, deptno from emp;
Just to avoid only one column, I mentioned all the remaining ( 7 ) columns of the table in the query..
As the EMP table consists only 8 columns, it doesn't seem much difficult to mention all the columns in the query,
but if a table have 100 columns in the table, then do we have to mention all the columns in the query..?
Is there any other way of writing the query to get the required result..?

Your best best it to just list all the columns. Any other method will just cause more headaches and complicated code.
If you really need to list all the columns for a table because you don't want to type them, just use something like...

I have framed the following query to get the blocker and holder info.I intend to use this query in a auto-generated mail which executes every 15 mins
I have put an outer join on the holder because the holder query might have been executed at the time the auto mail configuration fires this query
I am not a dba and was apprehensive is there is some mistake in the logic of my query. I was also expecting to join v$sql_bind_capture using sql_hash_value and sql_address just the way in which I have joined v$sqlarea

Getting the object type of a Table

Hi,
I'm trying to get metadata out of my database and am using the various features of getMetaData() etc to get most of the information I need.
The only problem I have is that I can't get the actual types of the tables in my database.
For example I have the Table Lecturers which is of TYPE Lecturer.
I can get the actual name of the table back by querying the db, but I can't get the actual type of it i.e. Lecturer!
Does anyone know of a function (or any method at all) that will do this for me in Java ?

How to get the number of columns in a result set???

hi everyone..
i am trying to establish a servlet applet communication....
my applet send the sql query to the servlet as serialised string and then the servlet executes the query...
Since i need to pass the result back to the applet, i thaught of passing the whole reult set to the applet..but that seems to be not possible..
so i thaught of storing my result set data in a vector and then pass the vector,but the first problem that i came across is that how to get the number of colums in a result set....
so is there a way to get the number of columns in a result set...???
and also i would like to know if it possible to send my whole result set to the applet bye serialization or by any method...???

You shouldn't do. It expenses resources (you should always close the ResultSet and the Statement as fast as possible). Simply gently process it into a Collection or Map of DTO's. Those are serializable.
