Joining two tables from two databases

Hi,
I have two tables A,B in two warehouses named CB and DB. i have to import these two tables in to RPD and join from there and generate reports in answers. will this scenario work in obiee.is it affect the performance?

Hi,
Yes it should work. just import the two db - tables into physical layer then as usual joins b/w both table. it should not have any performance issue.

How can i improve the performance of this query. Actual thing is update the data in Db1.dbo.table1 based on the conditions but if the select is taking close to 1hr then update will take hours together. Indexes already implemented on all the tables.

Join Table4 CA on RTRIM(T1.Col1) + T2.Col2 = CA.Col1
This join is not working with spaces if Rtrim is not used.

Can I join two tables from two different dbs by using transparent gateway?

As previously stated you options depend on your Oracle version and platform and the target version and platform for the remote non-Oracle (well in this case mySQL) database.
Oracle replaced HS or Generic Connectiivy with a new name and support module on 11g and maybe in 10g. You can see your manual CD or check the online documentation.
For that matter you need to check to see if the Transparent Gateway product has a mySQL driver.

Apex Application inserting into two tables from two regions in a page

Hey Guys,
Fairly new to apex like two days. So please bare with me. I am using apex 4.0.2.00.07.
I have a page with two regions. The first region has only one row and I have no problems accessing it and inserting those values into the table this is what I used to access one column from that one row APEX_APPLICATION.G_F03(1)
The second region is an interactive report, to which I have managed to add a checkbox and a textbox.
1)So if a checkbox has been checked off the row should be inserted
2) if the textbox has been entered it should replaceone of the values.
My question is how to access the second region? I started a loop based on the rows in the collection but that is as far as I got.
FOR idx IN 1..l_collectionTable_name
loop
end loop
Any help would be greatly appreciated?

How to design universe with tables from two databases using a db link?

I am building a universe (v3.1) that has tables from two different oracle db instances. My dba created synonyms for me and there is a database link in place. I don't know how to get this working in Designer. I can see the views under my ID when I browse to insert a table, but there is no structure. I think I have to create a new strategy. I attempted to do that, but the directions aren't very clear to me, and it isn't working. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

i've been working with DB links much before, but this was since long time ago before i join the Business Intelligence field
from my understanding that you Have link from DB1 to DB2
and from your user in DB1 you can access tables and view from DB2
if you are using your user to create a universe im not sure if you can use tables from DB2 or not
and you dont see the tables of the link in the Universe
but you can try to create a drived table selecting from any tables from DB2
for example
select id,name from user.table2@mylink

How do you join two tables from different Oracle schemas using a subquery

I am trying to join two tables from different Oracle schemas using a subquery. I can extract data from each of the tables without a problem. However, when I combine the select statements using a subquery I get the Oracle error *'ORA-00936: missing expression'*. Since each SELECT statement executes on its own without error I don't understand what is missing. The result set I am trying to get is to match up the LINE_ID from PDTABLE_12_1 in schema DD_12809 with the MAT_DESCRIPTION from table PDTABLE_201 in schema RA_12809.
The query is as follows:

The format of the query is copied from a SQL programming manual.

I believe you are receiving the error because you are trying to JOIN on a column that doesn't exist. For example you are trying to join on FAB.PIPING_MATER_CLASS but that column does not exist in the subquery.
If you want to do a straight join without a subquery you could do the following
SELECT DD_12809.PDTABLE_12_1.LINE_ID
,       FAB.MAT_DESCRIPTION
FROM    DD_12809.PDTABLE_12_1
JOIN    RA_12809.PDTABLE_201    AS FAB ON DD_12809.PDTABLE_12_1.PIPING_MATER_CLASS = FAB.PIPING_MATER_CLASS HTH!

i have an issue and i hope you could help me to solve it. My problem is: I want to create native sql select which joins two tables from different DB (both of them are ORACLE, one of them internal, another one - external). I have found several notes and posts, but without any success. Db connection exists in dbcon table, so this part of my problem has been solved.
I would like something like that:
select * from table1@xxx inner join table2.
i can not split this select into two separate ones, because both tables store over 30 mln. entries and i do not want to create any copies of them.

1) If these tables are in one and same database instance, then you can join them by specifying the fully-qualified table names (inlcuding the schema name), for example:
SELECT ...
FROM schema_A.table1 T1, schema_B.table2 T2
WHERE T2.parent_code = T1.code
AND ...2) If the tables are in different database instances, then you can create a database link in one of the databases and access the table from the other database via the DB link, for example:
SELECT ...
FROM schema_A.table1 T1, schema_B.table2@mydblink T2
WHERE T2.parent_code = T1.code
AND ...3) If the tables are in different database instances and there is no option for DB links, then you cannot join the tables in an ADF ViewObject.

Lgical table from two physical table

I am trying to design a logical fact table from two physical table. One table has transaction data and another has accounting data. The requirement is, I need to merge the rows between these two tables, where were it matches. If the keys are not matching between these two table then also I need to bring those rows from both tables as separate rows. How can i do this? Also can i have a logical table as source for my fact table.

You'll need outer joins in your physical layer and you can drag the columns from both physical tables to a single logical table and you will see in the BMM layer it will create the two logical table sources.

Don't know. Perhaps these can help. I scanned the second link but didn't see much about Ending Deadlocks. I'd say the Fourth link probably has better information than the first three links. But maybe read them all just in case the Fourth is missing something

how can i join two libraries from two different users in the same computer?

I should add that you can turn on SHARING where each user can see the other user's library and play stuff out of it. But they can not import those tracks to their own library or put them into their own playlists or burn CDs of the shared library.
Also note, to do this you need to have the fast switching option enabled with the accounts so both can be running at the same time and both must have iTunes running at the same time.
