JOptionPane not centered with Frame
Using JOptionPane.ShowMessageDialog() and the dialog does not center with the frame. How do I get the dialog to be centered with the frame? I tried setLocation() but that didn't work.
Simply use the JFrame as your parent component, e.g.:
JOptionPane.ShowMessageDialog(theFrame, etc...) That should work...

HTTP 404 - File not found with frames
Hi,
I am using a frameset that has 3 frames. The frameset happened to be my home page. The problem is this frameset comes up with HTTP 404 - File not found in place of all the other three frames. Below is a code snippet from my jsp. What should I do? Urgent help appreciated.

</html>What is the url you use to access the frameset?
Are the logo.jsp navBar.jsp and home.jsp in the same folder as the frameset?
Do you use any server side forwards to change the URL?
Because you are using relative urls to load the pages, it will look for those pages in the folder that you requested in your initial URL. It will not take into account any serverside forwarding (the browser knows nothing of these) -
Notes with frames change in branching view
I have been able to recreate this buggy behavior a number of
times and am interested if anyone else has seen this (or if I just
need to reinstall the app). I open a .cp file in progress and go to
the Edit tab. The text appears in the Notes area as I want it to
appear on the first frame. I click on the next frame and the text
appears in the Notes area as I want it to. I click on the Branching
tab and the text in the Notes area for frame 2 becomes the text
that is on frame 1. Now I have frames 1 and 2 with the same Notes
text. The captions for each slide have remained as they were
originally typed.
Note that I started seeing this in one file, created a new
blank file and imported frames. The same behavior occurs in both
files.
This is vexing because I had planned to use the handouts
print option for detailed design review review. Has anyone else
seen this behavior?quote:

Everyone who uses "Slide Notes" has seen this behavior. It
has caused much lower productivity for me, at least two missed
deadlines and countless time wasted by content approvers.
The way I look at it, this bug happens at least once per day,
somtimes more than 5-10 times per day. Each time it is a new
instance of the bug, therefore I will be reporting each instance of
said bug to Adobe. -
I have created a version of my website with muse for tablet but the home/index page is not centered (leave some space on the right ) when see it on my ipdad which is weird as the other pages are centered .Please help!

Making a simple gallery - issues with frames
Hi there,
Please help!
I'm at the end of my tether with this one.
I am a beginner with Dreamweaver and maybe I'm running before I can walk, but I thought what I am trying to make would be fairly simple. Haha!
I want to make a basic gallery, ie. you click the arrows or the thumbnail buttons and the next image appears within the page but DOESN'T reload to a whole separate page.
I managed to do this using a frameset and thumbnails - the images loaded in the main frame fine - BUT there are 2 issues with this:
1. The link to the homepage I added in the corner loads WITHIN the frameset, and so the homepage is cut off and the thumbnails are still there. I want the link to take the user OUT of the frameset and straight to the homepage (a totally different format, with no frames used) I can't find a way to put this homepage link anywhere outside of the frameset.
2. I cant centre the frameset, or have much control over the layout like I do with tables.
Could this problem be solved using tables? Or any way to solve this simply?
Thanks.
PS. I don't have fireworks, and I don't want to use a downloadable gallery as I want control over how it works/looks, also I dont think it would solve issues 1 and 2 anyway.kcoulton30 wrote:

I don't understand this comment at all. If you use a downloadable gallery you just edit the skin as you would any other HTML document and make it look like the rest of your site. And usually support communities for those products are fairly helpful for skinning. Learning to code something like this with frames for a first project is a little ambitious but it is heading in a direction that I know you are not looking to go. I have a feeling you like the interactive galleries that pop up and switch from image to image while staying on the same page.
To answer your questions:
1. You need to define the target frame with frames. By default links open within the window they are currently in. See this example: http://webdesign.about.com/od/frames/f/bl_faq4-2.htm
2. Framesets cannot be centered on a page. They are part of the overall page layout and cannot be positioned. If you need to position a frame on a particular part of a page you will need to use iframes: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_iframe.asp -
Interactive Image Not Centered
When I add a new interactive image to a page, then drag-and-drop and image into that widget, the image is not centered within the frame. Rather it is skewed toward left-of-center by about 10%. Changing the image scaling doesn't fix it. Changing the outer dimensions of the widget doesn't fix it. Nothing I've tried will make an image appear centered within the interactive image widget. Any ideas?
Note that I've tried this only with landscape oriented images on a landscape oriented page -- so I don't know if the issue exists for portrait mode images.Hi Schwerd:
Yeah. I just tried it with a portrait oriented image, and it shifts up in the frame. So what I'm seeing is that, if the image is wider than it is tall, it shifts left of center. And if it's taller than it is wide, it shifts up. -
JDIalog, HTML Code, setLocationRelativeTo; not centered
Hi,
I am building my own modal dialog; it's a JLabel with formatted HTML Code - I only use the bold <b> and break <br> tag in the default font size and -type.
I use setLocationRelativeTo() to center the dialog to my main JFrame; however, the dialog is not centered, it's shifted down to the right. Even if I just use some letters in my HTML code the dialog isn't centered. Here is my code:
public class TDDialog extends JDialog implements ActionListener, WindowListener {
private JPanel exercisePanel, containerPanel;
private JLabel exerciseLabel;
private JButton readyButton = new JButton("Ready");
private JButton showSolutionButton = new JButton("Solution");
private JTextField solutionTextfield;
private String solutionString;
private Font font = new Font("SansSerif", Font.PLAIN, 12);
public TDDialog(Frame ownerFrame) {
super(ownerFrame, true);
addWindowListener(this);
setTitle("Exercise");
setLayout(new BorderLayout());
exerciseLabel = new JLabel();
exerciseLabel.setFont(font);
exercisePanel = new JPanel();
exercisePanel.add(exerciseLabel);
solutionTextfield = new JTextField();
solutionTextfield.addActionListener(this);
containerPanel = new JPanel();
containerPanel.setLayout(new BorderLayout());
containerPanel.add(readyButton, BorderLayout.LINE_START);
containerPanel.add(showSolutionButton, BorderLayout.CENTER);
readyButton.setFont(font);
showSolutionButton.setFont(font);
readyButton.addActionListener(this);
showSolutionButton.addActionListener(this);
exerciseLabel.setText("<html><body>3 Lines<br><b>3 Lines</b><br>3 Lines<br></body></html>");
add(exercisePanel, BorderLayout.PAGE_START);
add(solutionTextfield, BorderLayout.CENTER);
add(containerPanel, BorderLayout.PAGE_END);
setResizable(false);
pack();
setLocationRelativeTo(ownerFrame);
setDefaultCloseOperation(DO_NOTHING_ON_CLOSE);
// action- and window-listeners...Am I building the JDialog correctly? Is there a better, a more recommended or "nicer" way? Why isn't hte dialog centered?
Edit: I really would like to assign Duke Stars to my question, however, since the last forum maintenance, I can't do this any more "Server Error
This server has encountered an internal error which prevents it from fulfilling your request. The most likely cause is a misconfiguration. Please ask the administrator to look for messages in the server's error log." This happens every time at different PCs with different browsers / versions / proxy-settings.

Illustrator file not filling InDesign frame
I have a Table of Contents graphic created for a news letter in Illustrator. The graphic is 1.2624" wide. In InDesign, I set up a frame the same width and no matter what fitting opitons I try, the graphic will not fill the frame.
If I chose fit frame to content, there is a .04165" gap around my graphic. Is there a way to have the graphic drawn to size in Illustrator and then completely fill a frame the same size in Indesign?
Thanks,
PhilI used to create a no-fill, no-stroke box as a bounding box to help me with placement when I got the Illustrator file into Quark (I hadn't learned ID yet when I had that job). It was a music publisher, and if I wanted a two-measure musical example centered on the Quark page, I exported from the music notation program and opened in Illustrator, made the Illustrator bounding box the width of the Quark live area, and centered the musical example, within the bounding box in Illustrator. After I placed the Illustrator file in Quark, I fit the picture box to the image and snapped the box to the margin guides. I could have used Quark to center the example with the text boxes on either side, but seeing the picture box snapped to the margin guides gave a quicker visual that things were centered correctly.
That's one way that the bounding box would be a different size than the art itself, but you could argue that the bounding box was part of the art, even though it wasn't a visible part. -
tried taking pictures with new iphone 5. I centered my picture in the frame and took picture.the result was not centered at all. it had a lot more picture at the bottom of the picture. i took several more pictures, but same results. I tied friends iphone4, it took picture correctly. anyone else seeing this problem?
Did you find a permanent resolution to this? I've tried restarting phone and resetting the apps at the bottom. But I tested it and after I've taken if say 10 photos it goes back to doing this. My phone is used for business so I don't want to restore in iTunes or I will lose everything

I'm trying to silently upgrade my environment to FF 7. I've gotten the silent install working great, it puts in my Proxy Server info, reassigns the home page and all that. But, the last version we pushed out was FF 3.5. If a user had that on their PC and they run the FF7 install, they get weird messages when clicking on the icon.
XULRunner: Error: Platform version '7.0' is not compatible with minVersion >= 1.9.1 maxVersion <=1.9.1
Another message they get is:

This is on Windows XPDo you have other virtualization or security software that might protect .ini and possibly other files in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) and prevent Firefox from updating them properly?
You need to do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 7.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version.
* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Did you know Firefox 4 does not support full frame option in iPlayer or similar?
Both at home & work - using Mac OS 10.5 & 10.6 Firefox 4 will not allow me to view full frame video stream such as BBC iPlayer, 4OD, ITV Player, TVCatchup ....etc, etc.
I have now switched to using Safari & Chrome (which work perfectly) but in the interest of your 'going forward' I thought you'd like to know of this glitch.
All the bestI have Firefox 5.0.1 and the coupon printer I'm trying to use is supported by ActiveX. It appears that 5.0.1 is not compatible with ActiveX. Can you tell me how I can access this installation to print my coupons with Firefox, please? Thanks!

[SOLVED] SQLite not working with PHP
For reasons unknown, I cannot get PHP to work properly with SQLite. I have uncommented the "extension=sqlite.so" in /etc/php/php.ini, ensured that PHP's configuration was being loaded from said file, and made sure PHP was working fine with my server of choice (lighttpd). Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work, as evidenced by
Fatal error: Call to undefined function sqlite_open() in test.php on line x
Which is what PHP spits at me. I've checked lighty's logs and nothing's wrong. PHP's set to send to syslog, so I'm not sure where I could check on that. Here is a quick look at PHP's setup.
My /etc/php/php.ini:
[PHP]
; About php.ini ;
; This file controls many aspects of PHP's behavior. In order for PHP to
; read it, it must be named 'php.ini'. PHP looks for it in the current
; working directory, in the path designated by the environment variable
; PHPRC, and in the path that was defined in compile time (in that order).
; The path in which the php.ini file is looked for can be overridden using
; the -c argument in command line mode.
; The syntax of the file is extremely simple. Whitespace and Lines
; beginning with a semicolon are silently ignored (as you probably guessed).
; Section headers (e.g. [Foo]) are also silently ignored, even though
; they might mean something in the future.
; Directives are specified using the following syntax:
; directive = value
; Directive names are *case sensitive* - foo=bar is different from FOO=bar.
; The value can be a string, a number, a PHP constant (e.g. E_ALL or M_PI), one
; of the INI constants (On, Off, True, False, Yes, No and None) or an expression
; (e.g. E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE), or a quoted string ("foo").
; Expressions in the INI file are limited to bitwise operators and parentheses:
; | bitwise OR
; & bitwise AND
; ~ bitwise NOT
; ! boolean NOT
; Boolean flags can be turned on using the values 1, On, True or Yes.
; They can be turned off using the values 0, Off, False or No.
; An empty string can be denoted by simply not writing anything after the equal
; sign, or by using the None keyword:
; foo = ; sets foo to an empty string
; foo = none ; sets foo to an empty string
; foo = "none" ; sets foo to the string 'none'
; If you use constants in your value, and these constants belong to a
; dynamically loaded extension (either a PHP extension or a Zend extension),
; you may only use these constants *after* the line that loads the extension.
; About this file ;
; This is the recommended, PHP 5-style version of the php.ini-dist file. It
; sets some non standard settings, that make PHP more efficient, more secure,
; and encourage cleaner coding.
; The price is that with these settings, PHP may be incompatible with some
; applications, and sometimes, more difficult to develop with. Using this
; file is warmly recommended for production sites. As all of the changes from
; the standard settings are thoroughly documented, you can go over each one,
; and decide whether you want to use it or not.
; For general information about the php.ini file, please consult the php.ini-dist
; file, included in your PHP distribution.
; This file is different from the php.ini-dist file in the fact that it features
; different values for several directives, in order to improve performance, while
; possibly breaking compatibility with the standard out-of-the-box behavior of
; PHP. Please make sure you read what's different, and modify your scripts
; accordingly, if you decide to use this file instead.
; - register_long_arrays = Off [Performance]
; Disables registration of the older (and deprecated) long predefined array
; variables ($HTTP_*_VARS). Instead, use the superglobals that were
; introduced in PHP 4.1.0
; - display_errors = Off [Security]
; With this directive set to off, errors that occur during the execution of
; scripts will no longer be displayed as a part of the script output, and thus,
; will no longer be exposed to remote users. With some errors, the error message
; content may expose information about your script, web server, or database
; server that may be exploitable for hacking. Production sites should have this
; directive set to off.
; - log_errors = On [Security]
; This directive complements the above one. Any errors that occur during the
; execution of your script will be logged (typically, to your server's error log,
; but can be configured in several ways). Along with setting display_errors to off,
; this setup gives you the ability to fully understand what may have gone wrong,
; without exposing any sensitive information to remote users.
; - output_buffering = 4096 [Performance]
; Set a 4KB output buffer. Enabling output buffering typically results in less
; writes, and sometimes less packets sent on the wire, which can often lead to
; better performance. The gain this directive actually yields greatly depends
; on which Web server you're working with, and what kind of scripts you're using.
; - register_argc_argv = Off [Performance]
; Disables registration of the somewhat redundant $argv and $argc global
; variables.
; - magic_quotes_gpc = Off [Performance]
; Input data is no longer escaped with slashes so that it can be sent into
; SQL databases without further manipulation. Instead, you should use the
; database vendor specific escape string function on each input element you
; wish to send to a database.
; - variables_order = "GPCS" [Performance]
; The environment variables are not hashed into the $_ENV. To access
; environment variables, you can use getenv() instead.
; - error_reporting = E_ALL [Code Cleanliness, Security(?)]
; By default, PHP suppresses errors of type E_NOTICE. These error messages
; are emitted for non-critical errors, but that could be a symptom of a bigger
; problem. Most notably, this will cause error messages about the use
; of uninitialized variables to be displayed.
; - allow_call_time_pass_reference = Off [Code cleanliness]
; It's not possible to decide to force a variable to be passed by reference
; when calling a function. The PHP 4 style to do this is by making the
; function require the relevant argument by reference.
; - short_open_tag = Off [Portability]
; Using short tags is discouraged when developing code meant for redistribution
; since short tags may not be supported on the target server.

; be supported on the target server. For portable, redistributable code,

; Output buffering allows you to send header lines (including cookies) even
; after you send body content, at the price of slowing PHP's output layer a
; bit. You can enable output buffering during runtime by calling the output
; buffering functions. You can also enable output buffering for all files by
; setting this directive to On. If you wish to limit the size of the buffer
; to a certain size - you can use a maximum number of bytes instead of 'On', as
; a value for this directive (e.g., output_buffering=4096).

; Note: People who wrote portable scripts should not depend on this ini
; directive. Instead, explicitly set the output handler using ob_start().
; Using this ini directive may cause problems unless you know what script
; is doing.
; Note: You cannot use both "mb_output_handler" with "ob_iconv_handler"
; and you cannot use both "ob_gzhandler" and "zlib.output_compression".
; Note: output_handler must be empty if this is set 'On' !!!!
; Instead you must use zlib.output_handler.

I've attempted enabling pdo.so and pdo_sqlite.so as well, with no results, making sure to stop lighty and flush all of its processes before checking again.
`php-cgi -m | grep sqlite` does not return anything, either.
The extensions directory (/usr/lib/php/20060613) exists on my system and contains sqlite.so, as expected.
I have no clue what's going on here and would greatly appreciate any help offered.
Last edited by xelados (2009-09-23 04:02:22)After the last update which installed PHP 5.3.0, I'm having a similar problem. PHP fails to recognize any extensions which I've defined in php.ini. PHP itself works just fine, so I'm sure this problem is related to the update of PHP.
Here's my php.ini:
[PHP]
; About php.ini ;
; This file controls many aspects of PHP's behavior.
E_ALL or M_PI), one
; of the INI constants (On, Off, True, False, Yes, No and None) or an expression
; (e.g. E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE), or a quoted string ("foo").
; Expressions in the INI file are limited to bitwise operators and parentheses:
; | bitwise OR
; & bitwise AND
; ~ bitwise NOT
; ! boolean NOT
; Boolean flags can be turned on using the values 1, On, True or Yes.
; They can be turned off using the values 0, Off, False or No.
; An empty string can be denoted by simply not writing anything after the equal
; sign, or by using the None keyword:
; foo = ; sets foo to an empty string
; foo = none ; sets foo to an empty string
; foo = "none" ; sets foo to the string 'none'
; If you use constants in your value, and these constants belong to a
; dynamically loaded extension (either a PHP extension or a Zend extension),
; you may only use these constants *after* the line that loads the extension.
; About this file ;
; This is the recommended, PHP 5-style version of the php.ini-dist file. It
; sets some non standard settings, that make PHP more efficient, more secure,
; and encourage cleaner coding.
; The price is that with these settings, PHP may be incompatible with some
; applications, and sometimes, more difficult to develop with. Using this
; file is warmly recommended for production sites.
Instead, you should use the
; function addslashes() on each input element you wish to send to a database.
; - variables_order = "GPCS" [Performance]
; The environment variables are not hashed into the $_ENV. To access
; environment variables, you can use getenv() instead.
; - error_reporting = E_ALL [Code Cleanliness, Security(?)]
; By default, PHP suppresses errors of type E_NOTICE.
The PHP 4 style to do this is by making the
; function require the relevant argument by reference.
; - short_open_tag = Off [Portability]
; Using short tags is discouraged when developing code meant for redistribution
; since short tags may not be supported on the target server.
; Language Options ;
; Enable the PHP scripting language engine under Apache.
engine = On

; NOTE: Using short tags should be avoided when developing applications or
; libraries that are meant for redistribution, or deployment on PHP
; servers which are not under your control, because short tags may not
; be supported on the target server. For portable, redistributable code,
; be sure not to use short tags.

; Output buffering allows you to send header lines (including cookies) even
; after you send body content, at the price of slowing PHP's output layer a
; bit. You can enable output buffering during runtime by calling the output
; buffering functions. You can also enable output buffering for all files by
; setting this directive to On. If you wish to limit the size of the buffer
; to a certain size - you can use a maximum number of bytes instead of 'On', as
; a value for this directive (e.g., output_buffering=4096).
output_buffering = Off
; You can redirect all of the output of your scripts to a function. For
; example, if you set output_handler to "mb_output_handler", character
; encoding will be transparently converted to the specified encoding.
; Setting any output handler automatically turns on output buffering.
; Note: People who wrote portable scripts should not depend on this ini
; directive. Instead, explicitly set the output handler using ob_start().
; Using this ini directive may cause problems unless you know what script
; is doing.
; Note: You cannot use both "mb_output_handler" with "ob_iconv_handler"
; and you cannot use both "ob_gzhandler" and "zlib.output_compression".
; Note: output_handler must be empty if this is set 'On' !!!!

; Transparent output compression using the zlib library
; Valid values for this option are 'off', 'on', or a specific buffer size

; outputs chunks that are few hundreds bytes each as a result of
; compression. If you prefer a larger chunk size for better

GR/IR expenses not affected with the settlement rule run process in the GL
<i><b>Please neglect by previous post with the same title</b></i>
There is a problem I face while running the settlement rule process related to internal orders on the GR/IR expenses.
According to the internal order settlement rule every expense associated to an Internal order no. whether its an account payable or manual journal accounts it should be settled (distributed) on the cost centers specified in each internal order after the monthly settlement run process is done through T.Code "KO8G", and this actually happens on the entries that are booked manually through T.Code "FB50", but the GR/IR entries is the biggest problem, it didn't reflect the settlement rule distributions in the GL it just gives me the original transaction once its was automatically created through T.Code "MIGO" they are only allocated to a one profit center with no cost center and without being distributed to a multiple cost centers according to the distribution strategy.
After a long search I found that the cost center distribution occurred only on a secondary none GL account named A&P Settlement (720010), all GR/IR expenses was settled correctly only on this account not through the ordinary GL accounts (e.g. Gifts, printed materials) and of course the correct distribution didn't appear in the GL,
So is there a transaction or any way to allocate the GR/IR expenses to there correct cost centers with the correct cost element in the GL?
Is there anything to do with the GR/IR calculation that depends on quantity base not value base?
<i><b>The Process as follows:</b></i>
(<b>1) Creating Internal order with a settlement rule (E.g. Cost center 1 (50%) Cost center 2 (50%)</b>
<b>2) Creating a purchase order associated to an internal order</b>
<b>3) The Goods received and creating the GR transaction T.Code "MIGO"</b>
Acc/DR Expenses accounts
Acc/CR GI/IR Account 400301
Profit enter ###### (eg. 111177)
Cost Center <blank>
Internal order no. ####### (e.g. 9810512)
<b>
4) Closing the GR/IR accounts when receiving the invoice T.Code "MIRO"</b>
<b>When we receive vendor invoice:</b>
Acc/Dr GI/IR Account 400301
Acc/Cr Vendor Account
Profit enter ###### (eg. 111177)
Cost Center <blank>
Internal order no. ####### (e.g. 9810512)
<b>5) Performing the Internal order settlement rule run process</b>
<b>(N.B.</b> By entering the report of the cost center (Actual/Plan/ Variance) T.Code S_ALR_87013611
I found that GR/IR expenses was not charged on the concerned cost centers as shown in the GL <b>)</b>
<b>Your Reply is highly appreciated</b>Thanks for your kind reply,
But is there a way solve this problem?
And what is the use of leaving a field in the account assignment tab for an internal order while creating a PO and it will not take advantage of the settlement rule????????
And as you know the internal order settlement is a way to create a multiple account assignment
Can we solve the problem by making an automatic fake transaction that reverse the value of the GR/IR and creating another transaction can apply on it the settlement rule??
You know that settlement rule process is one of the best features in the SAP system it save time and effort to make distributions manually -

It's well known for causing problems on Macs. You don't need any AV like that. Uninstall it and see if the crashes stop. Uninstall it whether they stop or not.

Likely suspect as WebKit is intimately involved with Safari.

Deleting event in iCal 5.0.1 not syncing with Google Calendar
When I delete an event from iCal, it does not sync with Google Calendar. However, when I create an event in iCal, it syncs just fine with Google Calendar. Creating and deleting events from Google Calendar syncs fine with iCal. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
12/13/2011 - call to google tech support
Recent support call with Google: iCal deleting events still broken. this is big for us. We have users that have accounts for and/or subscribe to multiple calendars, and took a while to teach them to use iCal, so web based calendars will be foreign to them (even though I like the web based). There is no timeline in place according to Google Tech Support. I feel like the issue is really Apple's issue, so Google is waiting on them to fix, this type of urgency(or lack of) is right up their alley. Oh well.
Does anyone have any suggestions on alternate calendar apps for Mac? Specifically for google calendars?
"Regarding the issue about not being able to delete Google Calendar events within iCal, as mentioned it is a known issue which unfortunately we don't have a time frame to offer you.
You can visit http://support.google.com/calendar/bin/static.py?hl=en&page=known_issues.cs for Google Calendar known issues.
You can submit a feature request at https://www.google.com/moderator/#16/e=ba1ca which is also located at the bottom of your Control Panel as ‘Suggest a feature.’ "
