JPA 2.0 CriteriaQuery problem

Hi all,
I am creating JPA 2.0 web application using Spring 2.5. I have one entity:
package data;
@Entity
public class NewEntity implements Serializable {
}a JPA controller for it
public class NewEntityJpaController {
     public int getNewEntityCount() {
          EntityManager em = getEntityManager();
          try {
               CriteriaQuery cq = em.getCriteriaBuilder().createQuery();
               Root<NewEntity> rt = cq.from(NewEntity.class);
               cq.select(em.getCriteriaBuilder().count(rt));
               Query q = em.createQuery(cq);
               return ((Long) q.getSingleResult()).intValue();
          } finally {
               em.close();
}and a Spring controller:
public class NewAbstractController extends AbstractController {
     jpa.NewEntityJpaController     c     = new jpa.NewEntityJpaController();
    public NewAbstractController() {
    protected ModelAndView handleRequestInternal(
            HttpServletRequest request,
            HttpServletResponse response) throws Exception {
        ModelAndView     mv     = new ModelAndView("/index");
          mv.addObject("data", c.getNewEntityCount());
          return mv;
}But when I access web page, I get the following exception:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: The type [null] is not the expected [EntityType] for the key class [class data.NewEntity]Trace:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: The type [null] is not the expected [EntityType] for the key class [class data.NewEntity].

Same problem here. I'm using Oracle as back-end. Same error...
Using the APP schema in java DB works... As I can see the code generated by Netbeans looks the same.
Anyone knows how to fix it? (some linked hashmap problem it seams)

  • Toplink-jpa and/or jdev11 problem

    Hi,
    How should I configure a toplink/jpa application in oc4j 11? Mine doesn't seem to be able to be able to connect... But I guess I didn't configure correctly.
    Anyway, it works in the jdevelopper 11 (technical preview) embedded oc4j. I can deploy it ok from jdeveloper, and even connect to the session beans on the server from another application (swing client, independant).
    But whenever my beans try to make a request, I get this exception:
    exception occurred during method invocation:

    I made a sample jdbc connection from the session bean, to the database it should connect to: no problem.
    Is there a checklist of what I should make sure? There are a lot of wizards, configuration files, etc. and I'm a little bit confused about the cause of the problem and how to fix it. My question has been on metalink for 48 hours, but without luck yet.

    HI
    can you reply the feedback of metalink? because I'm having similar problem.
    I debug in junit and embebbed at the jdev and it works well, but when I deploy in a standalone oc4j it gives me the same error of Excepção de E/S: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection
    And I'm not using 11g, I'm still in 10g but the problem might be the same.

  • Warning message about ClassNotFoundException in a new web project

    - Eclipse 3.3M6
    - Web Tools Platform 2.0M6
    Hello, everybody!
    I created a Dynamic Web Project using JSF and JPA, but I'm getting the following
    warning message in the Problems view:
    Classpath entry org.eclipse.jdt.USER_LIBRARY/Biblioteca JPA will not be exported or published. Runtime ClassNotFoundExceptions may result.
    This user library, Biblioteca JPA, is composed of this jars:
    antlr-2.7.6.jar
    cglib.jar
    dom4j.jar
    ejb3-persistence.jar
    hibernate3.jar
    hibernate-annotations.jar
    hibernate-entitymanager.jar
    sqljdbc.jar
    jboss-hibernate.jar
    In the project I also have these libraries:
    Biblioteca JSF:
    commons-collections.jar
    jstl.jar
    myfaces-api.jar
    myfaces-impl.jar
    JBoss v4.0:
    jboss-j2ee.jar
    jbossall-client.jar
    javax.servlet.jar
    javax.servlet.jsp.jar
    activation.jar
    mail.jar
    So, I would like to know how do I configure the Bliblioteca JPA to disable possible
    problems with ClassNotFoundExceptions happening at runtime. What do I have to add or
    change on it to get rid of the warning message? Or whatever is the solution that you
    use when this message appear.
    Thank you in advance.

  • EJB 3.0-POJO-Domain-Model-BusinessArchive?

    Hello Forum,
    I'am currently developing my first EJB application using EJB 3.0 specification.
    The POJO's I've developed shall be used within the EJB app and within a standalone Swing-Client. The Swin Client shall also utilize the new JPA features.
    The Problem I have is that a colleague told me I shall pack the POJO classes as a business archive in order to not having to develop the POJO classes twice in the two projects.
    Can someone give me an idea of a what a business archive is? Is it just a jar file containing the POJO classes only? On my own I would have just created a new Eclipse Project developed the POJO classes in that project, jared them and used them as library within the other projects.
    But I shall not create a separate project for it - I shall develop the Beans within the EJB project and make a business archive of it...
    Thanks in Advance!
    Henning

    Problem solved.
    We just use the classes within the EJB app as normal and create an additional jar file which is used as library within the other app.

  • Problem with JPA Implementations and SQL BIGINT in primary keys

    I have a general Question about the mapping of the SQL datatype BIGINT. I discovered, that there are some different behaviour depending on the JPA implementation. I tested with TopLink Essentials (working) and with Hibernate (not working).
    Here is the case:
    Table definition:
    /*==============================================================*/
    /* Table: CmdQueueIn */
    /*==============================================================*/
    create table MTRACKER.CmdQueueIn
    CmdQueueInId bigint not null global autoincrement,
    Type int,
    Cmd varchar(2048),
    CmdState int,
    MLUser bigint not null,
    ExecutionTime timestamp,
    FinishTime timestamp,
    ExecutionServer varchar(64),
    ScheduleString varchar(64),
    RetryCount int,
    ResultMessage varchar(256),
    RecordState int not null default 1,
    CDate timestamp not null default current timestamp,
    MDate timestamp not null default current timestamp,
    constraint PK_CMDQUEUEIN primary key (CmdQueueInId)
    The java class for this table has the following annotation for the primary key field:
    @Id
    @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.IDENTITY)
    @Column(name = "CmdQueueInId", nullable = false)
    private BigInteger cmdQueueInId;
    When using hibernate 3.2.1 as JPA provider I get the following exception:

    This means, that their ID generator does not support java.math.BigInteger as datatype.
    But the code works if I take TopLink essentials as JPA Provider.
    Looking at the spec shows the following:
    In chapter 2.1.4 "If generated primary keys are used, only integral types will be portable." Integral datatypes are byte, short, int, long and char. This would mean, that the Hibernate implementation fits the spec but there seem to be a problem in general with BIGINT datatypes.
    I use a SYBASE database. There it is possible to declare a UNSIGNED BIGINT. The range of numbers is therefore 0 - 2^64 - 1. Since in Java a long is always signed it would mean its range is from -2^63 -1 to 2^63 -1. So a mapping of BIGINT to java.lang.long could result in an overflow.
    The interesting thing is, that I used NetBeans to reverse engineer an existing database schema. It generated for all Primary Keys of Type BIGINT automatically a java.math.BigInteger. But for other fields (not being keys) it mapped BIGINTs to java.lang.long.
    It looks like there are some problems with either the spec itself or the implementation of it. While TopLink seems to handle the problem correctly, Hibernate doesn't. But Hibernate seems to fulfill the spec.
    Is anybody familiar with the Spec reading this and can elaborate a little about this situation?
    Many thanks for your input and feedback.
    Tom

    Not sure if I clearly understand your issue, would be good if you can explain it a bit more clearly.
    "I select a value from LOV and this value don't refresh in the view"
    If you mean ViewObject, check if autoSubmit property is set to true.

    Did you ever find a solution to this Ishaan?
    I imagine you ended up having to upgrade 10gR2 to 10gR3 at least. Correct?

  • Problems with Hibernate/JPA in our current Netweaver project

    Hi together,
    currently we are trying to migrate our Glassfish project to run under Netweaver. Til now, we have used Hibernate as the JPA Implementation.
    If we are trying to deploy our EAR, we get the failure that the EntityManager (Persistance Unit) can not be created.
    Here is our persistence-context.xml
         <persistence-unit name="soiPersistenceUnit" transaction-type="JTA">
              <provider>org.hibernate.ejb.HibernatePersistence</provider>
              <jta-data-source>SOI_DB</jta-data-source>
              <class>de.hr.ec.hai.ejb.entity.Project</class>
              <properties>
                   <property name="hibernate.dialect" value="org.hibernate.dialect.SAPDBDialect" />
                   <property name="hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto" value="update" />
                   <property name="hibernate.show_sql" value="true" />
                   <property name="hibernate.query.substitutions" value="true '1', false '0'" />
                   <property name="hibernate.current_session_context_class" value="jta" />
                   <property name="hibernate.transaction.manager_lookup_class" value="de.hr.ec.hai.ejb.service.SAPWebASTransactionManagerLookup" />
                   <property name="hibernate.jdbc.batch.size" value="1" />
              </properties>
         </persistence-unit>
    Has anyone an good hint to solve the problem?

    Hi,
    In SAP NetWeaver, you should use the persistence.xml file to configure the persistence unit.
    More information: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce711/helpdata/en/46/96ec3c33621e5ce10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm
    Moreover, the properties you have are Hibernate-specific, which is perhaps one of the basic reasons for the problems you experience.
    The SAP JPA platform supports all standard JPA properties (as per the EJB 3.0 specification) + the SAP-specific properties.
    More information: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce711/helpdata/en/77/fe0955fde340b3ab5220182d62b203/frameset.htm
    Not least, you may need to consider the overall Java persistence infrastructure @ SAP.
    More information: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce711/helpdata/en/2d/23b32e8c0152469edf07909703fe03/frameset.htm
    I hope that helps.
    Best,
    Yordan
    P.S. I assume you want to migrate your application to SAP enhancement package 1 for SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1.

  • Problem with standalone JPA

    I have a stand-alone, non-WLS, utility Spring-JPA jar (jar contains its own META-INF/persistence.xml) that I use across several non-WLS applications. It's using the Toplink provider and works fine. When I attempt to use this jar within a Weblogic 10 war/ear environment, I see random behaviours. Specifically, upon start up of the server environment sometimes the Spring context appears to load all the Toplink entityManager/provider components, and sometimes it does not - in those cases, it appears that an OpenJPA entityManager gets loaded first and nothing works (many errors related to missing openjpa properties). When the Toplink pieces successfully load, all works as expected. It's almost as if the application is experiencing some race condition on what entityManager/provider is being loaded upon startup/deployment of the application.
    Please help - I'm at a loss as to how to resolve this issue.
    Thanks,
    [email protected]

    Hello,
    Does this work if you set the <exclude-unlisted-classes> tag to true and list your classes in the persistence.xml as described in:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/jpa/howto/java-se-usage.html
    If it works, the problem might be with searching the persistence context for entities using a non-url classloader.
    Best Regards,
    Chris

    Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong? The Message doesn't get added to the table in my database, and I get a NullPointerException in the method MessageController.save() on the property MessageController.message - which I have specified in the faces-config.xml. Shouldn't that be enough? What have I missed?

    Ok, I have (re-)located the problem. It's not my Message property which gets a NullPointerException - it seems like the problem is with my EntityManagerFactory instance. The PersistenceUnit don't get assigned, even though I declare it in my persistence.xml file.
    Maybe it is something wrong with my file structure?

  • JPA & visual JSF problem

    Hello, everybody :),
    I'm new to Java Web Development, and I'm in big trouble, :) and I'm on the edge of despair. I'll appreciate any help.
    Here is the problem - I've been trying for hours to do something like [ this|http://www.netbeans.org/kb/60/web/web-jpa.html] tutorial example but it is not working for me!
    I've changed it a bit - I'm using MySQL, I created a few Entity classes from the database, I created controllers from them (right click -> JPA controller Classes from Entity Class). I've bounded the table (from the example) as it was said and then I tried to run the application - it started but the table was emplty and in it was written that "No items found". I 100% sure that the table in the database is not empty and there are no error messages.
    I tried to debug the application then I saw that when I go to the updateUsers() mehtod in the entity class controller and I try to get the EntityManager something crashes and I go straight to the calling SessionBean1 with NULL as a user list - can you help me?
    Something more, when I create new Web project and I create the Entity classes from the database - the one that I'm having problem with for the Persistence example, and I create JSP pages for the entity classes - (you know just right click + .....) and the CRUD application is working just fine - I don't understand what is wrong with my trial to use the Java Persistence API Within a Visual Web JSF Application?
    Thanks in advance!
    P.S. Sorry for posting this topic again - I thing is the better place to get answer.

    You're right again - can you help me with finding the reason for this, I'll paste some of the server log:
    It is the database? I guess? But how could it be - I've been working with that very DB from another Web Java Application?
    So is there a RIGHT way to connect to MySQL DataBase from a JavaSE project, which we have connected to a Web Java Application?

  • JPA Problem using alias for columns in a query

    Hello, I am having some problems with a query that I am trying to use in my JEE project. This query doesnt return an entity but a group of values. I created a class representing the result and a query with the jpa constructor expression but it is not working.

    Thanks in advance.

    What are you trying to do exactly? The way you've used LEFT JOIN is not correct if d.refId is an integer. LEFT JOIN is used to retrieve a set of entities where that set may not exist. It doesn't look like refId is a set of anything, just an integer.
    It looks like maybe you intended to have a foreign key relationship between AirtravelsDynamic and some other entity. In that case you probably want to model your AirtravelsDynamic entity as having a many-to-one relationship with the entity (let's call it ref.)
    The relationship would look something like:
    @Entity
    public class AirtravelsDynamic
       @ManyToOne
       @JoinColumn(name="refId")
       private Ref ref;
    }Then your query would read:
    SELECT new com.inter.transfer.Response(d.ref.flightno, d.economyseats,
                                           d.ref.ecofare, d.ref.arrtime,
                                           d.ref.depttime)
      FROM AirtravelsDynamic d
    WHERE d.ref.source = :refSource
       AND d.ref.destination = :refDest
       AND d.availDate between :lowDate and :highDateIf I'm misunderstanding your intent, let me know and I'll try to help you resolve the problem.
