Hello !
I am developing a project that use Java Persistence API.
I create 4 classes :
- [b]Conama : It has developed for classify the rivers level. It contain the max effluent pollution level.
- Rio (River) : It represent a river.
- Trecho (Stretch): It represent a stretch of the river.
- Empreendedor (Water User): It represent a water user.
A Water User is located into the Stretch.
A Stretch is located into the River.
A River has classification (Conama).

The problem occur when the program execut a [b]find or query :
Rio rio = manager.find(Rio.class, "6610000");
Trecho trecho = manager.find(Trecho.class, "6610000310");
The program return a StackOverFlowError.
I think that the problem was the fetch = FetchType.EAGER. Then, I substituted for FetchType.LAZY.
Gave all right only for Rio rio = manager.find(Rio.class, "6610000");. But for Trecho trecho = manager.find(Trecho.class, "6610000310"); not.
I debug the project and see that the find method was creating several objects of the Trecho before return the true object. This is correct ? Shouldn't it create only the object requested ?
How to I resolve this problem ?
PS: The Java or JPA not support several objects into the memory ?

You have setup your mappings with a circular dependency using EAGER fetching in both directions. If your underlying data uses these relationships in a hierarchical fashion then you could be causing a large set of data to be loaded. Based on your mappings it appears you have a parent-children setup all set to EAGER which could involve a large amount of data to be loaded.
If your collections should only result in a fixed set of objects to be returned to populate all relationships and all dependent relationships down the entire tree then there may be a bug. Can you report the exact product and version you are using?

  • [JPA-Newbie] -- JPA 2 for dynamic/custom entity types (database schemas)?

    Dear forum members:
    Still being new to JPA and having worked through the JPA2 spec as well as a good Apress book for learning the JPA concepts, I am currently wondering if my current, rather dynamic application scenario can be realized in JPA 2 in an easy way.
    The simplified app scenario is like the following:
    Suppose there should be a JEE6 web app that allows endusers to publish articles. There is a generic "Article" type with some common/default attributes such as
    - author : String
    - pubDatetime : String or own.DateTime
    - title, subtitle, articleText : String
    Additionally, a privileged group of endusers should be able to enhance this generic "Article" type by custom attributes during runtime (i.e., dynamically) and via a web interface. Additional attributes could be
    - articleTopic : ArticleCategoryEnum
    - rating : Float
    - comments : List<String>
    I guess the intention should be obvious and btw. not uncommon.
    My remaining main question basically is:
    * How could such a scenario be implemented in JPA 2 the best way?
    Due to the topic's importance importance for me, I'd be very grateful for any help or other productive tips/hints.
    Thank you very much in advance.

  • Migration from Kodo 4.1 JPA to open JPA

    I'd like to use open JPA at Workshop studio version 3.3. I use JPA from Kodo 4.1 Before. I'd like migration from Kodo 4.1 JPA to open JPA now. I downloaded open JPA openjpa-project-0.9.6-incubating-binary.zip from http://incubator.apache.org/openjpa/downloads.html. The steps I did:
    1)     Create a new empty project with name "openJpaEx" by Workshop, File -> new project -> Web -> Dynamic Web Project;
    2)     import the lib from the unpack openjpa-project-0.9.6-incubating-binary.zip to a new Workshop project;
    3)     created a project with name "workshop-jpa-tutorial" by Workshop from the Kodo example template, File -> new project -> Example -> Java Persistence API (JPA) -> Workshop JPA tutorial.
    4)     copy the Entity java classes and persistence.xml in "workshop-jpa-tutorial" to "openJpaEx"
    5)     Run the project.
    Is the above steps OK for the migration from Kodo 5.1 JPA to open JPA? If not, what the right way? The problems are
    1)     For my case, Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory can not be initialized in project "openJpaEx" following above steps. Please give me some suggestions.
    2)     I can not get the "JPA Configuration" at Workshop. "JPA Configuration" gives a GUI interface to manage the JPA classes and persistence.xml.

    Hi,
    I don't think that the Workshop folks monitor this newsgroup, and the people on this newsgroup don't have much experience with Workshop.
    You might want to repost on a Workshop newsgroup.
    Also, you mentioned that you had problems with Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory(). Was the problem in execution of the code, or just that the Persistence class wasn't available in the classpath?

  • Using EclipseLink or JPA with Oracle Coherence as shared cache

    Hi,
    I expect to use EclipseLink with Oracle Coherence as shared cache, mainly with/for Entity Caching.
    * JPA)
    For JPA queries, is the JPA semantics fully preserved when using Oracle Coherence ?
    * Non-JPA)
    Are the non-JPA API taking also advantage from Oracle Coherence ?
    For these non-JPA queries, is the semantics fully preserved when using Oracle Coherence ?
    Regards,
    Dominique
    PS: I hope this is the right forum to ask my questions.
    Otherwise, could you tell me what is the right forum ?
    Thanks.

    Yes, JPA semantics are fully preserved when using TopLink-Grid to cache entities within Coherence.
    Yes, the native EclipseLink APIs can also take advantage of TopLink-Grid and Coherence.
    I am not sure what you mean by "For these non-JPA queries, is the semantics fully preserved when using Oracle Coherence ?" Perhaps you can provide an example of what you are looking for?

    Is the Java Persistence API the same as Hibernate or is it a generic Java interface to Hibernate implementations? It appears to have several similarities with Hibernate.

    Wrong. Hibernate is a product implementing JPA, that's all.
    JPA != Entity Beans.
    JPA != part of J2EE.
    or is it a generic Java interface to Hibernate implementations? No.
    Wrong. Hibernate implements JPA, therefore JPA is an interface to Hibernate.
    It's not an interface to the full functionality of Hibernate though.
    It appears to have several similarities with Hibernate.Yes.Wrong.
    JPA isn't similar to Hibernate. Hibernate is a product, JPA a specification. Completely different beasts.

    as I don´t like to ask too many questions i am looking for a good JPA book, tutorial which includes advanced technologies.
    I have mastering the JPA API with more than 600 pages, but there aren´t real world examples for concurrency, locking, one to many and so an with all states of CRUD processing.
    Can you suggest one book or so?
    Is there an Open source project that uses JPA to look for?
    Has anybody real world examples?
    Bye and thanks
    kumaro

    Kumaro,
    Hi, a similar question was asked about what JPA books are available - here is a post that mentions 3 of the available titles - in answer to one part of your question.

  • JBoss Can't find Oracle Driver

    Hello, everyone,
    I'm hoping someone can help me.
    I've created a small web service. I have one method which returns something very straight forward, and it works fine.
    I have then progressed this to try to return some data from an Oracle table.
    However, when I try to do this, I get an error back saying that the Oracle Driver can not be found.
    I am using JBoss, and am running this in Eclipse's Web Service Explorer.
    The things I have tried to solve the issue are:
    - Ensuring the Oracle driver is located in Windows>Preferences>General>Data Management>Connectivity>Driver Definitions
    - Placing the Oracle driver jar in as many lib folders in my JBoss directory on my C drive as possible (I may have missed some out).
    I am not sure what else to try. Please can someone help me or point me in the right direction?
    Any help would be hugely appreciated.
    Thank you very much in advance.
    Robin
    My stacktrace is as follows:

    You have to put the path of the driver jar file on server.xml file. If you open up the server.xml file inside the config directory of the appserver instance you will find all the paths are added to <java-config java-home = tag. So place the path in this place. Then there should not be any problem getting the driver.
    Thanks

  • Transition from Trial to Purchased Java + DB PaaS cloud - overage?

    Oracle,
    A minimum configuration for Java EE hosting on Oracle Cloud Java + Database comes out to around 12 * (250 + 175) * 1.13 = $5763 per year - which is a price that requires some diligence for small businesses but worth it in order to use a full featured EE server like WebLogic 12 that includes EclipseLink in my opinion.
    What is the policy on overage fees over the 30GB(DB) and 50GB(Java) monthly traffic limits.
    - When the limit is reached at say the 3rd week - how is overage traffic handled - can we throttle the 50Gb java load over the month in that case to handle peak loads
    - Is there any extra fees if we exceed the 30+50 GB limits within the month - I don't want to forced to upgrade to the 250GB limit @ $9153 per year.
    The pricing page
    https://cloud.oracle.com/mycloud/f?p=service:java_pricing:289454252444001
    states

    Outages:
    - there was a 9 hour scheduled outage the night of the 31st - can we expect this regularly and are apps seamless handed over to an alternate production server during the duration - In that case how are in-transaction session handled. As I understand it we do not have access to a 2nd level Coherence cache - which could handle this.
    Trial to Paid
    Can I get a url prefix in the name of my company when I decide to move to a paid cloud from the "trialAAAA" one we get assigned now.
    Full Java EE 6 (or at least mirrored WLS 12.1.1.0 support)
    What is the timeline for implemented the feature difference between local standalone 12c instances and the cloud ones.
    Specifically EJB 3.1(new deployment time timer beans, WebProfile), full ADF, Coherence, EclipseLink 2.5 (with Multitenancy and JPA-RS), JPA 2.0 container managed persistence units without static weaving.
    thank you

    Hi.
    Thanks for your question. Right now I do not belive it is possible to connect the BI Publisher/OBIEE environment embedded within Fusion Applications to any alternative datasources as you described.
    I appreciate this is all in the Oracle Cloud, so it's an interesting use-case and I will endeavor to investigate any options we might support in the future. In addition, I recommend you propose the same question to the Cloud Central/Operations folks as they are responsible for the configurations and they might be able to offer more details on what they support now and going forwards.
    The SaaS cloud does support both linking to other urls and embedding external pages (your reports) as iFrames, so that might be an alternative? Also I don't know if you've looked at the coming Oracle BI Cloud, which provides a database and OBIEE server environment together, again from which you might be able to embedd the result in your SaaS environment.
    Hope this helps, and we're planning a BI Publisher series on our blog soon so will be sure to cover some of the things mentioned here. Keep a look out for more.
    Thanks

  • How to verify whether the persistence unit objects are persistent or not?

    How to verify whether the persistence unit objects are persistent or not?
    I have successfully configure and deploy the Employees object as a persistence unit in Oracle Coherence according to the guide of Chapter 6 of Tutorial for Oracle Coherence 3.5.
    Using the RunEmployeeExample script, I have got the right results. I can see that after the cache object is updated, the database table (Employees) is also updated accordingly. The following is the output:

  • BPM-  ADF binding files architecture for ADF human taskflow.

    Hi,
    I wast to know what is the architecture behind the hundreds of the file generated for the BPM adf integration for the human taskflow.
    Is there any method of debugging why data coming to BPM human taskflow is not coming properly to ADF.
    I appeciate any debug pointers, although these files are clearly xml files and we have no control over generation of these files but still we want to know how data been populated and how if any error occured of data corruption, how we will resolve.
    REF we are facing major issues with the data corruption issues with the ADF BPM components.
    Thanks

    This post has an interesting discussion related to your question. I am glad BPM is infact generating all these complex xml files behind the screens and taking care of so many things. Thanks to ADF framework. Yes, I totally agree, debugging may be nightmare to begin with. But with divide and rule, you can get over it. End of the Day its just pure Workflow and a complex ADF. ADF can be stripped out carefully and run all the actonis from a normal web application. If we design properly as pure SOA, we create back end services like EJBs that can be consumed from WebServices or ADF Layer. Once we have this we can integrate these Services into any BPM Process.
    Re: Integrating BPM taskflows into an ADF application
    Now, coming back to your questions:
    1. You have a Complex BPM Process with complex BO (business objects), Arrays of BOs. I hope you have XSD for your BOs and using them only you created BusinesObjects and ProcessDataObjects. Now lets assume you have a BPM Process that uses this complex data structure. Lets take a very first Human Task initiaor who may see a Task Details page with your compelx objects. Lets say, in Task Details page, he says a header section with 10 fields. Another section with a Table of Multiple Rows and columns (arrays of Data), etc etc.
    2. NOW the main question is, when this User Saves or Submits the Task, you should be doing something with that Data ? Am I right. Are you Saving it to any Database or everything is in the Payload itself. If so, I hope you have complex. If its payload itself, then I hope you have a complex strucutre to pass arrays of data through out the process.
    3. Assuming all this gets Stored into backend Database. Lets not worry about retrieving it back when task goes to second user. Always Payload will store the key IDs lke dataId like OrderId, CustomerId etc and using that it can pull any data from backend and show on task details page.
    4. This is where the ADF comes into picture. So even before you integrate your complex backend data with Process, first create a simple WebAppilcation. If you have EJB methods to handle this data, you create Data controls, bindings. Bindings will help generate the Screens. So you can first test your application completely here. Once all this is working, thats when you call these Services from your Process.
    And beauty is with new release of BPM Suite (should be in BPM 11.5 + FP (Feature Pack)), they have a concept of Simulation. This should help you to simulate the Process without any real data and JUST focus and test on the Flow of the Process. This comes real handy for testing.
    And for the data used in your process, you have ADF Tools to create stand alone ADF Application.
    We have some applications like yours with very complex data structure, arrays that gets stored like in 25 tables with references going everywhere. First we built a simple data layer using EJBs and JPA layer (JPA Entities). These Entities have annotated methods to take care of most of the things. In the EJB we exposed some generic methods instead of adf generating them, due to complex data structre. Then we created data controls and bindings. Create Custom JSPX Files. This is where we ended up having our own Layout for the Data. I hope you have already seen by default, task details layout page generated is NOT usabe at all. It generates all the data in one Single Long column. We do not use that. Since we know data, we created our own Task details page. The only thing we add is the Actions bar and comments and attachment section. When you auto generate a taskdetails page for any .TASK file, you will see DataBindins created for Payload, Actions, and also separately for coments and attachmetns. Just drag these comments and attachments on to your page and define your own layout.
    Re: deploying a large Oracle BPM Application with multiple UI projects (Single taskdetails for multiple UIs and Tasks)
    Re: What exactly 'PAYLOAD' Means??? (Simple definition for Payload word referred in any Process)
    If you see one of the old posts, there is a way to reuse just one Single TaskDetals page for Multiple different Human .TASK files. All that matters iis the top Actions Menu that are differenet for each human task like someone can Submit, someone can only Approve or Reject etc. We can club all these Actions into single actionsMenu.jsff and put this on TaskDetails page and assing to all the .task files. Menus are automatically disabled/enabled using workflow APIs. You do not need any special coding for them. Look at code snipet for any actions button that has like isAllowedAction and pass the name of the action. Workflow APIs see if that .TASK file has a Action named with that internally.
    In conclusion, there is a decent clear gap between Process and the ADF Generated Task Details page.
    Thanks

  • How to use openjpa  + kodo in Java SE?

    Hi.
    We are developing J2EE application on Weblogic Server 9. For a part of application we should create unit tests that will be run in Java SE. How to use openjpa + kodo in Java SE?

    Hi,
    Try the EclipseLink JPA JEE5/JEE6 provider - it has been shipping as part of WebLogic Server since 10.3.1.0.
    <provider>org.eclipse.persistence.jpa.PersistenceProvider</provider>
    The following page has several SE, application-managed and container-managed EE example tutorials with source.

  • Need Help Understanding EJB 3.0

    Hi,
    I am a bit of a novice when it comes to EJB 3.0 and I'm trying to make some sense out this interesting new approach to developing EJBs.
    Could anybody help me answer the following?
    1. Is an entity (as per the new Java Persistence API) the same as an entity bean (as per the EJB 3.0 specification)?
    2. Does an entity become an entity bean if run inside an EJB container?
    3. Does the EJB 3.0 specification define entity beans or are they supported only as part of the EJB 2.1 support required for any EJB 3.0 container?
    4. Would it be right to say that a bean in the EJB 3.0 sense is designed to run in an EJB container although it can be tested outside of it, whereas an entity will run inside or outside a container and behaves the same reagardless of where it is running from (i.e. does not become an EJB as a result of running inside a container)?
    5. It is my understanding entities (JPA) are not part of the EJB 3.0 specification. If this is correct why are they beeing referred to as entity beans instead of entities to clarify the difference? Is this simply a case of loosely used terminology?
    Thanks.
    Eric.

    You seem to be confusing EJB3 JPA with EJB2 EntityBeans.
    EJB2 had EntityBeans which were complex persistent objects that had complex rules such as having a Home, PrimaryKey, Local, Remote and Bean class. They had no standard persistence mapping.
    EJB3 simplified things greatly by replacing (entirely) the EntityBean model with JPA. JPA is part of EJB3, and EJB2 EntityBeans no longer exist, other than for backward compatibility sakes (the same as EJB1 EntityBeans still exist in the spec). JPA provides POJO (plain old java object) persistence, so has no complex requirement of the persistent classes.
    Persistent objects in JPA are called Entities (not EntityBeans), so there in lies your confusion.
    JPA supports persistence both inside a JavaEE, and in JSE and any other Java environment. Inside the server the JPA entities can be "managed", this just means that the JPA EntityManager is integrated with JTA, so follows its lifecycle. You can also use JPA in a non-managed mode inside a JEE server. Outside of JEE, JPA is always non-managed and has its own transaction API.

  • Problem of cycle and stackoverflow when using JPA @OneToMany mapping Tag

    Hello everyone!
    Description:
    We are using the tag @OneToMany to map a collection of objects in an entity. In the other side, we use the tag @ManyToOne to map the father.
    Our simple example for testing consist of the following entities:
    This is the class Child:
    @Entity
    @Table(name="TEST_CHILD")
    public class Child implements Serializable{
    @Id
    @Column(name="ID_CHILD")
    private Long id;
    @ManyToOne(fetch=FetchType.LAZY)
    @JoinColumn(name="ID_FATHER", referencedColumnName="ID_FATHER")
    private Father father;
    and this is the Father class:
    @Entity
    @Table(name="TEST_FATHER")
    public class Father implements Serializable{
    @Id
    @Column(name="ID_FATHER")
    private Long id;
    @OneToMany(mappedBy="father", fetch=FetchType.EAGER)
    private List<Child> children;
    Problem:
    When a select over this entities is realized, we are getting the folling exception:
    The following Error is thrown by the VM [java.lang.StackOverflowError]. ErrorQueueHandler will just trace it. The caller component should take care to process it properly.
    java.lang.StackOverflowError
    at java.lang.Class.searchMethods(Class.java:2646)
    We've already used @OneToMany and @ManyToOne mapping in many other projects, and we've tried different parameters on the tags as well, but we still getting the exception. If applying fetch mode Lazy to the @OneToMany we had an detatched exception, cause ou the context. Anyways, we need and would like to use the EAGER loading mode.
    So what seems to happen is that the application runs into a cycle when loading the "father" attribute of Child, recreating the list collection within it.
    This same configuration works just fine in other implementations (i.e.: Hibernate JPA implementation), and many other examples over the web are not different of our implementation.
    Any suggestion of how we could solve this problem? Is this a standart behavior of mapping using Sap JPA?

    Sorry for the delayed update..
    I see an issue in the WSNavigator. I have a method in my EJB exposed as a web service. This method has a single argument, which is a serializable class containing a few string variables and the above-mentioned Entity with suitable getters and setters for all the class variables.
    When I try to select this operation under the WSDL in the Webservice Navigator, I get a stack overflow error. I think it is because WD4J run-time is not able to build the nested tree. Not sure though...I've attached the stack trace below:
