JRT: CreateUIXPage Exception: no protocol:

Hi,
I created a simple JHeadstart application, based upon the "Greedy Gourmet" case/tables. In Jdeveloper 9i I can do a UIX-preview of the page. But when I access it through the browser it gives an error in the console of the OC4J-server:
CreateUIXPage Exception: no protocol: IngredientsGroupPage.uix
java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol: IngredientsGroupPage.uix
followed by more java errors.
I don't know where to look for the error, can some of you help me?
Greetz,
Guido

Guido,
In the JHeadstart 9i production version, we changed the way UIX pages are retrieved.
We now specify a relative URL as argument for the CreateUIXPage process. A typical create page process will now look like this:
<!-- Create select Department page process -->
<process name="SelectDepartmentPage" class="oracle.jheadstart.process.CreateUIXPage" end="true">
<!-- Name of uix file -->
<argument type="String" value="/uix/SelectDepartmentPage.uix"/>
</process>
If you are using an older version where the uix file name is not specified as a relatrive URL, you should make sure that either the
uix page is copied to the the web-inf\classes directory before you run your app, or you should include the web\uix directory as
library path in the server.xml
Can you check your page process definition in the Service xml file?
Which JHeadstart version are you using, how did you obtain it?
JHeadstart Team.

  • URL exception: no protocol

    I wrote a https-URL-Reader using JSDK 1.5 who includes the latest JSSE. First the https-URL-reader fetches a page from a server who uses url-rewriting for session-tracking. So far the first step is working well, I got the page content. Inside this page are hrefs pointing to follow-up-pages. These hrefs includes a url with a JSESSIONID and params who looks like this:
    https://host.server.domain/path;JSESSIONID=id1...!id2..?name1=value&name2=value.
    The prog gets a follow-up-href from the content extract the url and tried to fetch the related page. At this point everything went down the street ... with an URL-exception: no protocol! I guess its depending an the semi-colon inside the url!
    I wondering getting a url with included JSESSIONID should be a daily task!
    When I paste this URL into a browser (IE 6) it works!
    So where is the mistake???
    Any ideas and help are welcome.
    Thanks a lot!

  • URL object with https string throws malformed url exception: unknown protocol: https

    In WebLogic I am trying to connect to an HTTPS url by passing that url
    string into the contructor for URL object. This throws a Malformed URL
    Exception : unknown protocol: https.
    When i run this same block of code outside of weblogic (in a stand-alone
    app), it runs perfectly. (not exceptions when creating the URL object).
    why do i get this exception in weblogic?
    could weblogic be loading its own URL class rather than the java.net.URL
    class (which supports ssl)? if so how do i override that classloading?
    is there a weblogic security "feature" that prevents opening an ssl
    connection?
    thanks for any help

    You need to modify your weblogic.policy file to allow you to change the
    the property java.protocol.handler.pkgs ... and any other properties
    that you may probably change using JSSE (for example:
    javax.net.ssl.trustStore for storing certificates of servers that you
    want to connect to from WLS )

    thanks for the help dennis, but still get the "unknown protocol https".
    the URL object sees that the URLStreamHandler ==null and get the value for
    java.protocol.handler.pkgs (which should be
    com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol) then it tries to load that class. i
    believe that the GetPropertyAction("java.protocol.handler.pkgs","") is not
    returning com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol. therefore the class is not
    getting loaded
    i think that my classpath is set up properly for classpath and
    weblogic_classpath so i think that i me calling
    System.setProperty("java.protocol.handler.pkgs",
    "com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol"); is not effective.
    do you know anyway i can trouble shoot this.
    thanks

    Https is an add-in so to speak. Try this before you create your url:
    System.setProperty ("java.protocol.handler.pkgs",
    "com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol");
    // add the default security provider (again, in JSSE1.0.1)
    int iap = java.security.Security.addProvider(new
    com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Provider() );

    We have used Provider system. The configurations of provider system seems fine as the same provider system is working for other different bpm webservice.
    Can anyone guess what the issue could be.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    The SAP_DEFAULT_PROFILE was not assigned to the BPM Project. Once I assigned this, I was able to successfully execute the BPM Webservice.
    Thanks,

  • WL510 SP 6 InitialContext with http/https/rmi protocol IS NOT WORKING

    Hi
    I wanted to try SP6 for WL510 and noticed that
    that you can not create initial context with http protocol anymore.
    Is this a feature or you guys made t3 tuneable?
    I couldn't find any documentation related to that.
    If I try t3 everything is fine. (If I revert to SP5 all protocols are

    I would like to retract this complaint :)
    I did not read the sp document thouroughly. There is a new property
    introduced called
    weblogic.httpd.tunnelingenabled=
    It needs to be set to true in order to enable tunneling with SP6. Maybe more
    visible sp docs ?
    see issue33320 in the Readme.txt file, coming with SP6.

    Check your java.security file
    probably in your line to set parameter login.config.url.1=files:c:/yourpath/xxx.conf you removed the "files" protocol to indicate the path.
    example
    login.config.url.1=c:/yourpath/xxx.conf
    with this you get the error
    "java.lang.SecurityException: unknown protocol: c".

  • TMG / WPAD and protocol relative URLs

    We are using a TMG Cluster (TMG2010 SP3) as a proxy.
    We use wpad auto discover for our clients and that is working fine except that protocol relative urls are not sent to the proxy but use the direct route.
    More and more websites are using a protocol-relative url (eg: script src=//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.9.1/jquery.min.js ) when we use the "automatically detect settings" option in IE these URL's aren't redirected to the proxyservers.
    And because our clients do not have direct internet access the page doesn't load the script and isn't displayed correctly.
    I probably have to alter the wpad.dat file but I'm stuck in how to do so.

    Hi,
    Thank you for your post here.
    How did you judge that the packets have been directly routed to gateway?
    Could you please configure your proxy to manually point your web proxy server address? Please test it to see if traffic is still routed directly.
    Network Monitor 3.4 is a very useful tool to help us capture the network packets. We need to check if the request you send is packaged in HTTP or HTTPs since just HTTP or HTTPs can be proxy direct to proxy server.
    Best Regards

    Hi Sandy,
    Instead of giving url in the constructor. Paste the code below the JEditorPane. Remove the url from the JEditorPane constructor.
    try{
                        /** Files from system */
                        java.net.URL helpURL = new URL ("file:///" + "C:\\thread.jspa.htm");
                        /** Files from inter net */
                         helpURL = new URL ("http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5421146&tstart=0");
              if(helpURL!=null)
               jHelp.setPage(helpURL);
              else
                   System.out.println("Couldnt find file");
               }catch(MalformedURLException exp){
                    System.out.println("Exception in page loading---"+exp);
               }catch(IOException ioexp){
                    System.out.println("Exception in page loading"+ioexp);

  • Connecting to database in a thread class

    HI,
    I am have a problem when trying to get a conneciton to a database. I am trying to create the connection in a class that extends Thread.
    Everythign else is set up correctly, i have ran the same code from the main class of my project and it works fine, the problem occurs when I try to get the connection from the class spawned by the main class.
    The exception thrown is an SQL exception: No suitable driver found, however the driver was loaded previously (no class not found exception was thrown when loading).
    The only reason I can think of that coudl be causing a problem is the fact the class creating the connection extends thread and runs in the run method i.e. a different thread.
    Does anybody know of any issues regarding threads and JDBC?
    NOTE: I and using the COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.net.DB2Driver for connecting to DB2.
    Cheers :)

    Here is the output
    Driver loaded
    Authorising for: test - testpass
    Protocol connecting to database
    Exception in Protocol: java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver

         at baeauthserver.AuthProtocol.getPMConnection(AuthProtocol.java:66)
         at baeauthserver.AuthServerThread.run(AuthServerThread.java:38)The program is a server daemon or service that listens for connections from a client. On connection the server spawns a "work" thread to deal with authorising the user and creating a database connection. I can make a connection in the main server class (i.e. the main thread) but as soon as I move this to the "work" class it seems to lose the driver.
    I've just done some more tests and I can't even grab the driver as a driver object on the work thread so it's not just the getConnection method.
    I'm initialising the driver in a static block in the main server program. I've moved it around to various constructors on both the main class and the work class to no avail.
    It has me stumped so far :p
    Thanks for the input though :)

    you will have to use a Socket:
    public String getResponse(String url) throws Exception{
            int timeout   = 30000; // 30 second timeout
            String inputLine = null;
            Socket socket    = null;
            BufferedReader reader = null;
            Writer writer    = null;
            StringBuffer buf = new StringBuffer();
            try{
                URL server = new URL(url);
                int port = server.getPort();
                if (port < 0)
                    port = 80;
                socket = new Socket(server.getHost(),port);
                writer = new OutputStreamWriter(socket.getOutputStream(), "US-ASCII");
                writer.write("GET " + server.toExternalForm() + " HTTP/1.0\r\n");
                writer.write("Host: " + server.getHost() + ':' + port + "\n\n");
                writer.flush();
                socket.setSoTimeout(timeout);
                reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(socket.getInputStream(),"UTF-8"));
                String line = reader.readLine();
                if (line != null && line.startsWith("HTTP/")){
                    int space = line.indexOf(' ');
                    String status = line.substring(space + 1,space + 4);
                    if (!status.equals("200")){
                        throw new Exception("HTML Error: + " status);
                    while((line = reader.readLine()) != null)
                        buf.append(line).append("\n");
                else{
                    throw new Exception("Bad protocol");
            catch (InterruptedIOException e) {
                throw new Exception("Read timeout expired");
            finally{
                // close the reader, writer, and socket here
            return buf.toString();

    Hi All,
    We are trying to exchange PIP 3A4 request of version 11.14.00 from the host to trading partner, but the message is failing at the TP end with the below exception;

    At the trading partner end, the Document Type is shown as "PurchaseOrderRequest" in the reports, the document type configured is "Pip3A4PurchaseOrderRequest".
    If we change it to "PurchaseOrderRequest", then we are noticing the exception "Document protocol identification error.".
    Requesting to help us on this issue.
    Regards,
    Raj

    Raj,
    Make sure that you have not created document type "PurchaseOrderRequest" with same XSD and with same XPath identification expression under any other doc protocol. (within custom or within any other protocol). If you see any doctype with name PurchaseOrderRequest then delete it and retest.
