JSF and bean getter functions

Hi,
I'm using a JSP page (say page1.jsp) in which I'm binding the values for some inputTexts to the properties of a Bean (say Bean1).
<af:inputText id="name" required="true"
                                          showRequired="false"
                                           value="#{Bean1.name}">
           and so on.........Now the first time I call this JSP page (page1.jsp), it calls the get functions of the bean and display the correct value for each InputText.
However, If I update the values of Bean properties (using some other page) and then again call my first JSP page, the JSP page display some InputText with new values and some with old values..
I can see that It calls some of the get functions in bean and not calling others, instead using the old values.
The scope of the bean is - Session
What can be the possible problem, I'm new to the JSF and not very familiar with it, Is there any way I can force the JSP to call the get function every time for every property in the Bean, I'm using in the page so as to get the current value.

I'm using Jdeveloper 10.1.3 , and I believe with version 1.1 of JSF

  • Ore.pull and ore.get function issue

    I have a code where i specify which table to pull in to a data frame during run time.
    Wrapper = function(table_name){
      data = ore.pull(table_name)
    table_name is a string variable.
    but instead of pulling the table the string value is passed to variable data.
    What is the work around if i want it to pull the table with name given in table_name variable?
    I tried ore.get function
    Wrapper = function(table_name){
      data = ore.get(table_name,schema_name)
    instead of getting a data frame i'm getting a value variable.
    Please help me out.
    Regards,
    Prasun

    Hi Prasun,
    You first need to get the ore.frame object, and then pull the data to the client.
    Wrapper = function (table_name) {
      ref <- ore.get(table_name)
      data <- ore.pull(ref)
      data

  • JSF managed beans and xmlbeans

    Hi,
    I am having a jsf application,where I get data from a back end configuration service,which returns data in the form of xml,for which we already have compiled xmlbeans.At our side we recieve the response and parse it to get back the response.My question is- Is it advisable to use these xmlbeans within the jsf managed beans,or do we need to create pojos from the xmlbeans,before sending them to mbeans.Why I am asking such a question is-xmlbeans have a tight coupling with the backend
    Thanks
    -Bibin

    I would suggest have pojo's. Below are my points
    1) You man not need everything from the XMLBean always. Most of the times, you may need very little from the XMLBean. You can transfer the required information to the POJO. This would also save you from network overhead in case the backend is running on a separate machine.
    2) Any changes to the backend code will not have any impact on your UI code.

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
    Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
    When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
    Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports (not "Diagnostic and Usage Messages") for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot. I know the report is long. Please post all of it anyway.
    In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
    Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

    I have taken a photo from an airplane and cannot get the 'map' function on the exifwizard app. Is it because I was too high? Altitude that is. Other photos allow me to use the 'map' function.

    Most likely, if you were inside the airplane, rather than sat on the wing, the iPhone couldn't get a GPS lock-on, or you didn't wait long enough for it to get a lock on.
    EDIT: Lawrence is right... forgot about that.

  • How can I get my Apple Remote to play/pause and do other functions on all applications?

    When I press the F8 button on my Macbook, it plays or pauses the media for whatever media application I have open, whether that's iTunes, VLC, or MPlayerX. Same goes for F7 and F9, which are backwards and forewards respectively.
    Well I recently bought an Apple Remote and expected that the same thing would go for the remote; the play/pause button would give the same command as the F8 button, so I could use the remote on whatever application that also supported the F7, F8, and F9 buttons. But apparently, that's not the case; so far I've only been able to control iTunes.
    So is there any setting I can change or program I need to install to have the Apple Remote buttons work just like the keyboard media buttons? I tried Remote Buddy, but that's not giving me specifically what I want since it's only designed to make specific programs compatible. But they still don't support for example MPlayerX, which is my default video player.

    Gosh, that must explain why it didn't come with a magic hat!
    I completely accept the fact that Apple designed it to do a limited set of functions, but in the post I asked if there was any program that I can install that causes it to do hit the function keys for me. There's already Remote Buddy, which intercepts remote signals and performs specific functions instead of the normal ones. How then can there not be a program that also intercepts them, but hits the function keys? Seems to me that that would be even easier than what Remote Buddy's doing.

  • Jsf and putting parameter in sql query

    Hey,I have a database,and I want for the selected checkboxes that a user checks,to get their Ids from the database.I am assuming that I need a query something like this: SELECT person.Id FROM person WHERE person.Id=?. I am using NetBeans for my project.My questions are
    1.How do I make the query?Do I use a string with the above value, and then I ask it where?
    2.How do I say that the parameter ? would be the Ids of the selected checkboxes?
    3.Is there anything else I have to add in the query to make it right?A while function maybe?
    Sorry for the question but I am new in the business!

    1) This question has nothing to do with JSF at all. Are you familair with JDBC and SQL? If not, start reading tutorials/books about that.
    2) You can obtain the selected values in the JSF backing bean and pass it through to a DAO class which should obtain data from the DB.
    3) Just some background knowledge and understanding.

  • JSF and IBM State Pattern

    Hi,
    have somebody experience with JSF and the IBM StatePattern?
    Thanks
    Ich bentige eine Antwort auf die Frage: Kann ich das StatePattern mit JSF verwenden und WIE?
    Danke

    A couple things here:
    What kinds of services do these protected methods
    provide. Are you sure that this is the only way to
    structure this?
    The kind of services the base class provides are very critical which the child classes can't do and shouldn't care. For eg: the base class waits on a lock object for some action to be done by some other module in the code.
    I have tried to restructure it a bit, there are other child classes for this base class on which I dont have the direct control. The only reason why I am a state pattern here is to avoid a big switch case or if else statements.
    There are two ways to restrict access to something in
    Java: 1. make that something protect,
    package-protected, or private or 2. Restrict access
    to the Object itself. What I mean is that you can
    make a method public but only those classes that can
    get access to the Object reference can call it. Yes,
    everyone can see that the method exists but that's
    rarely, if ever, going to matter.
    And I can't make the methods public because they are all as I said critical functions which only the child is allowed to do and that too only through inheritence. It is making perfect sense for the base class to keeping them protected.
    It seems like there is no other way but to redeclare them and delegate the call to super.
    Thank you!

  • @EJB annotation in JSF managed beans not working

    Hi all,
    I've been trying to get the @EJB annotation to work in a JSF manged bean without success.
    The EJB interface is extremely simple:
    package model;
    import javax.ejb.Local;
    @Local
    public interface myEJBLocal {
    String getHelloWorld();
    void setHelloWorld(String helloWorld);
    and the bean code is simply:
    package model;
    import javax.ejb.Stateless;
    @Stateless
    public class myEJBBean implements myEJBLocal {
    public String helloWorld;
    public myEJBBean() {
    setHelloWorld("Hello World from myEJBBean!");
    public String getHelloWorld() {
    return helloWorld;
    public void setHelloWorld(String helloWorld) {
    this.helloWorld = helloWorld;
    When I try to use the above EJB in a managed bean, I only get a NullPointerException when oc4j tries to instantiate my managed bean. The managed bean looks like:
    package view.backing;
    import javax.ejb.EJB;
    import model.myEJBLocal;
    import model.myEJBBean;
    public class Hello {
    @EJB
    private static myEJBLocal myBean;
    private String helloWorld;
    private String helloWorldFromBean;
    public Hello() {
    helloWorld = "Hello from view.backing.Hello!";
    helloWorldFromBean = myBean.getHelloWorld();
    public String getHelloWorld() {
    return helloWorld;
    public void setHelloWorld(String helloWorld) {
    this.helloWorld = helloWorld;
    public String getHelloWorldFromBean() {
    return helloWorldFromBean;
    Am I missing something fundamentally here? Aren't you supposed to be able to use an EJB from a JSF managed bean?
    Thanks,
    Erik

    Well, the more I research this issue, the more confused I get. There have been a couple of threads discussing this already, and in this one Debu Panda states that:
    "Support of injection in JSF managed bean is part of JSF 1.1 and OC4J 10.1.3.1 does not support JSF 1.1"
    10.1.3.1 Looking up a session EJB with DI from the Web tier
    But if you look in the release notes for Oracle Application Server 10g R3, it is explicitly stated that JSF 1.1. is supported. So I'm not sure what to believe.
    I've also tried changing the version in web.xml as described here:
    http://forums.java.net/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=2117
    but that didn't help either.
    I've filed a SR on Metalink for this, but haven't got any response yet.

    Erik

  • Mixing JSF and JSTL

    Hi group,
    I need some help with the following. I'd want to make use of a JSF managed bean (request scope) within a JSTL tag. This is not possible unless the JSF managed bean was accessed before within a JSF tag. That time the bean will be initialized.
    How can I make sure the JSF managed bean is properly initialized so I can use it within my JSTL tags?
    Thanks!

    I'm using IBM Websphere portal (V6). Right now I have no access to the code and cannot provide you with a sample. However, I'm sure the code is fine as when I move the JSTL code to after the JSF code (so that the managed bean gets initialized by the JSF tag) it all works without problems...

  • SUBMIT program VIA JOB and SET/GET parameter

    Hi All
    I need to pass the content of a variable from the program 'A' to program 'B'.
    Program A uses JOB_OPEN , SUBMIT program VIA JOB jobname NUMBER jobnumber AND return, JOB_CLOSE.
    I tried to use import/export memory but it didn't work. Then I am trying to use set/get parameters but it also did not work.
    Program A is going to run in any server and program B will run in the central instance (it is determined in the FM JOB_CLOSE, parameter target_server).
    Program does not have selection-screen.
    Is it possible use set/get parameter with submit via job?
    Could you please advise?
    Thanks in advance.
    João Gaia

    Here a simple code
    *Submit report as job(i.e. in background)
    data: jobname like tbtcjob-jobname value
                                 'TRANSFER DATA'.
    data: jobcount like tbtcjob-jobcount,
          host like msxxlist-host.
    data: begin of starttime.
            include structure tbtcstrt.
    data: end of starttime.
    data: starttimeimmediate like btch0000-char1 value 'X'.
    * Job open
      call function 'JOB_OPEN'
           exporting
                delanfrep        = ' '
                jobgroup         = ' '
                jobname          = jobname
                sdlstrtdt        = sy-datum
                sdlstrttm        = sy-uzeit
           importing
                jobcount         = jobcount
           exceptions
                cant_create_job  = 01
                invalid_job_data = 02
                jobname_missing  = 03.
      if sy-subrc ne 0.
                                           "error processing
      endif.
    * Insert process into job
    SUBMIT zreport and return
                    with p_param1 = 'value'
                    with p_param2 = 'value'
                    user sy-uname
                    via job jobname
                    number jobcount.
      if sy-subrc > 0.
                                           "error processing
      endif.
    * Close job
      starttime-sdlstrtdt = sy-datum + 1.
      starttime-sdlstrttm = '220000'.
      call function 'JOB_CLOSE'
           exporting
    "            event_id             = starttime-eventid
    "            event_param          = starttime-eventparm
    "            event_periodic       = starttime-periodic
                jobcount             = jobcount
                jobname              = jobname
    "            laststrtdt           = starttime-laststrtdt
    "            laststrttm           = starttime-laststrttm
    "            prddays              = 1
    "            prdhours             = 0
    "            prdmins              = 0
    "            prdmonths            = 0
    "            prdweeks             = 0
    "            sdlstrtdt            = starttime-sdlstrtdt
    "            sdlstrttm            = starttime-sdlstrttm
                strtimmed            = starttimeimmediate
    "            targetsystem         = host
           exceptions
                cant_start_immediate = 01
                invalid_startdate    = 02
                jobname_missing      = 03
                job_close_failed     = 04
                job_nosteps          = 05
                job_notex            = 06
                lock_failed          = 07
                others               = 99.
      if sy-subrc eq 0.
                                           "error processing
      endif.
    Then... for import/export of a variable, you can use Import Memory and Export Memory function.
    Like this:
    REPORT A:
      IF NOT it_dlist_out IS INITIAL.
        EXPORT it_dlist_out TO MEMORY ID 'TEST1234'.
      ELSE.
    * Clearing memory
        FREE MEMORY ID 'TEST1234'.
      ENDIF.
    REPORT B:
    IMPORT it_dlist_out TO lt_dlist_out FROM MEMORY ID 'TEST1234'.
