Jsf generates ?xml version="1.0"? in xhtml source

Hi,
I have a simple xhtml page that looks like this:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<title>Insert title here</title>
</head>
<body>
     Here is the content
</body>
</html>when I open it in a browser and look at the source code it has generated this:'
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd" >
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head><title>Insert title here</title></head><body><!-- MYFACES JAVASCRIPT -->
</body></html>Why the <?xml version="1.0"?> tag on top? IE expects a doctype and gets confused on how to render the page.
I think this has to do with jsf, because if I look at the page with this URL it's ok:
http://localhost:8080/pages/test.xhtml
But with this URL it has inserted the <?xml version="1.0"?> tag on top.
http://localhost:8080/pages/test.faces
Also if I remove xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml then the xml tag is not generated, but I need this code to render the the page correctly.
Anybody have an idea?

Had exactly the same issue with an external supplier who would not change the interface to remove this line. We created a java proxy which was called instead of the BPEL, then stripped out the invalid line and then called the BPEL. Not pretty, but worked.

  • Why ?xml version="1.0"?   in XHTML file

    I am new to jsf and I am struggling with an xml tag in the beginning of all my xhtml files. It appears before the doctype;
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd" >
    This is no problem with Firefox or Opera, but it messes up my site in IE. It goes into a so called quirks mode and uses old standards for CSS. Is it any way I can remove this tag? As I understand it doesn't have to be there to produce valid xhtml.
    I am extreamely happy for answers on this one.
    Jeanette

    Try using the XMLRoot function.

  • Adding  " ?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"? "   in generated xmls

    Hi,
    I am using xmlbeans framework to generate xmls , i am able to generate xml using document object but header "<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>" is not coming in that xml file , how to include this in output xml files.

    Hi,
    I don't know the XMLBeans Framework, but this header is called XML declaration.
    In general there are options to configure this (i. e. setOption("omit-xml-declaration", false);).
    Anyway, I don't know the exact syntax in this framework but have a look at this, maybe it helps somehow.

  • ?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"? generates error=unsupported encoding

    Why does the header with encoding set to UTF-8 get rejected by the Oracle XML C++ V2 Parser when one of the features of this version is UTF-8 support?

    Hi
    If I change my document header from <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> to <?xml version="1.0"?> then it parses without error. Will this situation change if I intall ORACLE_HOME? If so, why do I need to install ORACLE_HOME to get the XML Parser to work?
    Thanks.

  • How to change XML version in outbound XML file generated in XI

    Hi, I am getting following two records in the beginnning of my out bound XML file.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    <ns0:MT_WPUUMS01_Salesdata xmlns:ns0="http://ws-sapretail-pos.com/salesdata">
    Is there any control in XI to modify these two lines, in outbound files.
    Also, for inbound files, is there any way to process messages successfully, even if XML files from other systesm comes in different formats (xml version tag and nso tag lines)

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    <ns0:MT_WPUUMS01_Salesdata xmlns:ns0="http://ws-sapretail-pos.com/salesdata">
    these two lines will be added when you create the  Message type name
    MT_WPUUMS01_Salesdata  is the message type name
    http://ws-sapretail-pos.com/salesdata"> is the name of your namespace......
    so if you want to chage these two lines in each XML build your MT and namespace accordingly.......
    even when you are importing the XML from o ther systems, you dnt have to worry about these tages as you import them in external definitation and select them only in message interface........should not be a problem if you import the XML from other systems
    whole conecpt is when you add these two lines it will convert the XSD to XML so when you have the XML form other system you only need to crer ate the WSDL out of it...
    let me know if i am not clear or if i understood your question wrong....

    Hi stejsky,
    Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
    >>In my project I use the option /doc to generate XML doc file from my source codes but unfortunately in the output XML file there are mixed also comments from original MFC source codes.
    Based on your issue, could you please tell me how you use the option /doc to generate XML doc file from your source codes?
    If you use the option /doc to generate the XML doc file by right-click the your MFC project->Properties->Configuration Properties->C/C++->Output file->set the Generate XML document files as Yes(/doc) like the following screen shot.
    (1)If yes, since we could not reproduce your issue in mu side, so if possible, I suggest you could share me your MFC project so that we will further help you support this issue.
    You could upload your MFC project to the OneDrive and then copy link here.
    (2)If no, please try the above way to generate XML doc file and then check if you still get same issue.

  • How to remove ?xml version=

    Dear All,
    The moment I can see <?xml version="1.0"?> sentence in JSC produced pages going in the first line.
    Does anybody know the easiest way to remove/disable this 'feature' from the generated pages.
    The problem is comming using IE6.0 as a browser. I use CSS styles with fixed-size centered colums. IE6.0 goes nuts while anything else coming before DOCTYPE definition and swithes to quirk mode.
    Quirk mode makes my CSS looks agly and doesn't support centered layout.
    I have to say it is very annoying :)
    Alex

    Sorry, but I want remove this first line with <?xml version...
    To check what gives a bug I did the following:
    1.Run my page in design mode and it looks fine
    2. Clear and build my project, run it under Sun App Serv 8.2
    3. Can see centered CSS doesn't work
    4. Save source HTML by using 'View Source' context menu and remove annoying <?xml version...
    5. I got it - IT WORKS FINE.
    6. Please look at http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/css_concepts_03.html (paragraph just before picture of Quirk and Standard mode)
    7. What is the reason of putting <xml into to the first line. XHTML is NOT xml anyway.
    King regards,
    Alex

  • Does JSF like XML?

    It seems that actually using XML as a source file for my JavaServer Faces JSP files is severely limiting my ability to create even simple functionality.
    Let's say that I want to put in a simple stylesheet link, but I want it to be relative to the context. (Otherwise, I couldn't include the JSP file in other JSP files in different directories, because the link is relative to the enclosing JSP's base URI.)
    In old, outdated, non-XML source code, that's easy, if not pretty:
    <html>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="jsf" %>
    <jsf:view>
         <head>
              <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="<%= request.getContextPath()%>/style/sheet.css"/>
    But I want to use XML for my source JSP file. So I start with this:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <jsp:root version="2.0"
         xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page"
         xmlns:jsf="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
    <jsf:view>
    <jsp:output omit-xml-declaration="false" doctype-root-element="html" doctype-public="-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" doctype-system="http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd"/>
         <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
         <head>
    Now what? I can't use <%=...> in the <link> href attribute value, because that attribute (according to Tomcat 5.5.2) can't contain the "<" character.
    Using ${pageContext.request.contextPath}/style/sheet.css results in the entire literal string being sent to the browser---no replacement. The same goes for #{facesContext.externalContext.request.contextPath}.
    Are those who use XML-compliant source files limited in JSF functionality?
    Starting to be disillusioned,
    Garret

    This is easily solved using JSTL:
    <c:url value="/styles.css" var="styles"/>
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"
    href="${styles}" />I beg to differ! I have:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <jsp:root version="2.0"
         xmlns:jstl="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core"
         xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page"
         xmlns:jsf="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
         xmlns:html="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html">
    <jsf:view>
         <jsp:output omit-xml-declaration="false" doctype-root-element="html" doctype-public="-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" doctype-system="http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd"/>
         <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
         <head>
              <title>Test</title>
              <jstl:url value="/styles.css" var="styles"/>
              <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="${styles}" />
         </head>
         <body>
         </body>
         </html>
    </jsf:view>
    </jsp:root>This sends the following stylesheet link back to my browser:
    <link href="${styles}" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet"/>(Try it yourself.)
    I'm using JSF 1.1_01 on Tomcat 5.5.2. I cannot get a ${} expression to be substituted.

  • Generate xml source file for Oracle Order Capture Print Quote

    Hi,
    I am new to xml and need to work on creating templates for Print Quote.
    I am trying to generate the xml source file for which I enabled the report in system administrator and set the output to XML and assigned to Quoting Reports responsiblity. I then assigned XML Report Publisher to the same responsiblity.
    I ran the report (Print Quote) and then I am trying to run the XML Report Publisher but I cannot get the request id in the list of values.
    I am able to generate xml source file for other reports like Printed Purchase Order etc.,
    The view output for the (Print Quote) report is as follows:
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    - <!-- Generated by Oracle Reports version 6.0.8.26.0
    -->
    <ASOPQTER />
    How do I get the xml source file? Or are there seeded templates that I can use to create more templates? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Ravi

    Hi, I am in the same position - did this issue ever ger resolved by anyone. I have done a few XMLP reports successfully now using the Word add-in, but customising the Quote output differs from other standard reports.
    If you look at the data definition for Quote it is a 'dummy' definition and has no XML file attached. Does anyone know how I can get the XML format for the report output?
    Also the template uses XSL-FO ?!?!?! rather than RTF - not sure how to work with this, the Oracle docs are not very helpful in this regard either.
    Has anyone successfully managed to customise the Quote print report? Many thanks,
    Roger

  • Generate XML output using DBMS_XMLGEN.getxmltype and not from rdf

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to display output from a particular table in XL format. Out of all the known possible options, I am planning to use the XML publisher to generate XL output.
    For the data source, instead of using the conventional way of creating XML data using rdf,I am planning to use DBMS_XMLGEN.getxmltype pl/sql procedure to generate the XML output. And from the output, call the template to generate the required Excel output.
    Now, I am using the following code to generate XML output but am not sure how to proceed from here. I need to first print the XML data in the FND Output file after which I was planning to call the 'XML Report Publisher' (XDOREPPB) program and use the current request id to get the excel output but I am not able to find the way to print the XML data in the output file as:
    fnd_file.put_line (fnd_file.output, l_xml_type); - is throwing an error as l_xml_type is an XML data output.
    PROCEDURE xml_main (
    errbuf OUT VARCHAR2
    ,retcode OUT VARCHAR2
    ,p_project_from IN VARCHAR2
    ,p_project_to IN VARCHAR2
    AS
    l_xml_type XMLTYPE;
    BEGIN
    SELECT DBMS_XMLGEN.getxmltype
    ('SELECT fnd_global.conc_request_id

    INTO l_xml_type
    FROM DUAL;
         fnd_file.put_line (fnd_file.output, l_xml_type);
    END xml_main;
    Can anyone point me as to how to publish XML output using a PL/SQL procedure (DBMS_XMLGEN.getxmltype)
    Thanks.

    Pl see if the example included in this presentation helps http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/applications/Events/OOW-2006/EBS/S281401_Sridhar_Bogelli.pdf
    Also, you do not need to explicitly call XDOREPPB in later versions of XML Publisher. If you set up everything correctly (as described in the presentation above and the link below) the Output Post Processor is called automatically after the XML file is generated successfully.
    Another excellent tutorial is at http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/fusion_middleware/fusion/bi/xmlp_ebiz/index.html

  • Dunning Letter XML not displaying XML version of Dunning Letter

    I have changed the Output Format for "Dunning Letter Print from Dunning Letter Generate" to XML. When I run the Dunning Letter Generate process, though, the XML output in the Dunning Letter Print from Dunning Letter Generate does not display the XML of the Dunning Letter. Instead, the following XML is displayed:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <!-- Generated by Oracle Reports version 6.0.8.27.0 -->
    <ARDLP>
    <LIST_G_CORRESPONDENCES>
    </LIST_G_CORRESPONDENCES>
    <R_INTEREST_RATE></R_INTEREST_RATE>
    <R_DEFAULT_COUNTRY>NL</R_DEFAULT_COUNTRY>
    <C_TRX_NUMBER>APP-00001: Unable to find message: AR_REPORTS_TRX_NUMBER</C_TRX_NUMBER>
    <C_PO>APP-00001: Unable to find message: AR_REPORTS_PO</C_PO>
    <C_DEBIT>APP-00001: Unable to find message: AR_REPORTS_DEBIT</C_DEBIT>
    <R_DEFAULT_COUNTRY_DESC>M-3M-WM-4M-zM-6M-uM-5M-e</R_DEFAULT_COUNTRY_DESC>
    </ARDLP>
    Is there any specific setup required to generate the appropriate XML for the Dunning Letter?

    Kit
    It is definitely possible to use XML Publisher for dunning letters. I would suggest your sample run did not select anything for dunning as the XML looks correct otherwise. The problem with this approach is that it is not a single step process to get the letters. You will only ever get XML from the dunning letter print report as there is nowhere in the submission screen to tell it what template to use. Therefore you will need to modify the after report trigger to submit the XML Report Publisher concurrent program to automatically pick up the XML and create the letters.
    You might want to look at the standard functionality in collections or advanced collections (not sure about collections but definitely in advanced) as there is some standard functionality in there for Dunning which uses XML Publisher templates. The setup is a bit onerous (not sure what the developers were thinking) but at least you can use XMLP as standard.

  • How do I display on-the-fly generated XML on a web page using DW CS4 Spry regions?

    On a main web page I'm trying to display formatted data from an ASP page that generates XML on-the-fly from a query.
    When I run the ASP page from the browser, the XML formatting of the data works. But when I run the main web page, the data doesn't display.
    I'm using  DW CS4 Spry regionsto display the data on the main page from the XML data generated by the ASP page. Here's the main page code:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
    <META HTTP-EQUIV="Pragma" CONTENT="no-cache" >
    <html>
    <head>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="SpryAssets/xpath.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="SpryAssets/SpryData.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="SpryAssets/SpryUtils.js"> </script>
    <script type="text/javascript">var A1D1xml = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("A1D1ACRs_testWxmlCode.asp", "tests/test");</script>
    <title>Test XML Main</title>
    </head>
    <body>
          <div id="A1D1xml" spry:region="A1D1xml">
                                    <table id="A1D1">
                <tr>
                <th>ID</th>
                <th>Last Name</th>
                <th>Final Status</th>
                </tr>
                <tr spry:repeat="A1D1xml">
                       <td>{acr_id}</td>
                    <td>{acr_lastName}</td>
                    <td>{acr_final_status}</td>
                </tr>
                  </table>
             </div>
    </body>
    </html>
    Here's the code for the page that generates the XML: A1D1ACRs_testWxmlCode.asp
    <html>
    <%
    set objConn=server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    objConn.Open application("web_test")
    set rs = objConn.Execute( "SELECT acr_id, acr_lastName, acr_final_status from acr_records_grid_view where acr_changeOption = 'A1D1'")
    Response.ContentType = "text/xml"

      %>
    </tests>
    <%
    rs.Close()
    Set rs = Nothing
    %>
    </html>
    Thanks.

    Thanks, but no; I'm using the correct case and folder.
    With this code on the main page, The region flashes the table column header names
    and the code as written for the spry repeat; then instantly disappears from the screen.

    <script type="text/javascript" src="SpryAssets/SpryData.js"></script
    <script type="text/javascript">var A1D1x = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("A1D1ACRs_testWxmlCode.xml", "tests/test");</script>
    <title>Test XML Main</title>

  • Error while generating XML file through RDF

    Hi,
    I wanted to generate a Report on some business case. For that I need to generate XML file first.
    For generating XML file
    1. I have built an RDF through Reports builder.
    2. Saved the report to local machine with extension .rdf
    3. Moved it to appltop/app/reports/US directory
    4. Registered tha Report with Executable of type Oracle Reports
    5. Defined Concurrent Program with OUTPUT as XML.
    When I submmitted the program, it was giving an error as follows.
    The XML page cannot be displayed
    Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
    A semi colon character was expected. Error processing resource 'https://oaphrd.humana.com/OA_CGI/FNDWRR.exe?temp_id=2088989...
    +<?xml version="1.0" encoding="&Encoding"?>+
    But, when I tried to sane the report directly to a file (file - > generate file -> XML) the XML was generated successfully.
    How to get rid of this. Some one please help me out.
    Thanks !

    Hi,
    I found the issue and corrected it. :)
    This was happened only because of the Version problem of Report Builder with Oracle Applications.
    Reports Builder 10g is not compatiblie with Oracle Applications 11.5.10.
    Oracle 11.5+ will always expect the RDF from Reports 6i version. Because of this, the endocing was damaged.
    You can observe in the earlier post as encoding="&Endoding". Here +&Encoding should be replaced by some encoding mechanism like "UTF-8".+
    Finally corrected the version and got the Output as expected.
    Thanks !
