Jsf VS wcm servlet- combine JSF & WCM tags in the same page

Hey all,
I wanted to get to you a problem I've encountered and see if you can direct me.
Note: I found a way to work around the problem, we will see later -
but this will not bring me to full integration.
The problem arises when I create a region\page template file in the ucm system and make use
of - (Jsf component (for example: h: outputpanel.
In this situation, there are two servlets in the web.xml file that mapping of
url which comes.
1. wcm site template servlet that maps tree placement (that is when I
went in url to the servlet
http://localhost/application-name/context-root/section1/index.html
know to map the url to the template defined tree under the same
section.
2. jsf servlet - when i used jsf components.
When I turn to the page for wood and is defined in the UCM, the jsf
servlet does not handle the request and therefore I get an error: Can
not find facesContext.
The problem: Can we find a way to make 2 the servlets work together
and perform this mapping for us? Is there a way or example of a jsf
page which can be combined with the ucm system defined tree (this
detail is important, because if I just set up a page in application
and came back to it, not through the tree can I combine Jsf -It's
important for me to do it in the form submitted by the link mentioned
above).
Note: I found a roundabout solution like I mentioned, working with the
iframe as separate jsf pages and read them from a page in the system.
While this solution meets the requirements but still ran into some
combinations between the two issues resolved was not trivial.
I'd appreciate it if somebody could help \ guide me to resolve the problem.

Thanks a lot for your answers.
I just want to clear my point, the real problem is when i want to define in my site's tree(at jdeveloper) page X for Section SX
but page X should include jsf tags.
When we defined page(region template) in section properties placeholder, meaning at the site's tree, the explorer will show the page as http://machinehost:7001/context-root-site/sectionX/index.html.
Each page in the site tree will had this pattern, therefor when we add a jsf tags to our page there is a conflict between the servlets (Faces VS WCM)
because that jsf servlet could'nt map this url to faces url and i got faces context Error.
I am just trying to clean my point, so it's not relevant to contributor mode...
i just want to know for sure that there is no way to define region template at site tree for section X with jsf tags.
I will very glad to know yours opinion about my solution- working with iframe, meaning that the page at site tree will include iframe to jsf page which exsit in the application. this solution solved the conflict problem because i have now two pages.
thanks you again,
Regards

  • Can i use one JSF component's value for other component in the same page.

    Can i use one JSF component's value for other component in the same page.
    For example
    I have a <h:selectBooleanCheckbox id="myChk"> in my jsf page, i want to access its value for another component like:
    <h:commandButton disabled="#{myChk.checked}" action="myAction" value="myValue" />

    Bind the checkbox to a UIInput myChk property. Then you can reference this property from the page, e.g.

    <h:commandButton disabled="#{myBean.myChk.value}" action="myAction" value="myValue" />

  • Writing to multiple tags with the same name

    Hi,
    I am writing to multiple tags with the same name but in different groups. I have noticed only the tag from the first group gets updated. How can I write to a tag in a specific group in this scenario?
    Regards,
    Chanti.

    Heres what I found.
    When I tried "http://<server>:<port>/XMII/Illuminator?Server=<Name of the TAG dataServer>&Mode=CurrentWrite&TagName=<Group>.<TagName>", the outcome was "Message
    Could not add "<Group>.<TagName>" to the response list.
    Message

    When I tried "http://<server>:<port>/XMII/Illuminator?Server=<Name of the TAG dataServer>&Mode=CurrentWrite&TagName=<TagName>", it seemed like it worked fine.
    Any thoughts?

  • Linking between two IFRAME tags on the same JSP page

    I have a JSP (lets call it PAGE_A.jsp) that contains a table the <TD> tags hold IFRAME tags with an initial src referencing a blank.jsp

    <!-- Report View Table-->
    <table width="100%">
    <tr>
    <td>
    <iframe id='report_view' name="report_view" width='60%' height="500" frameborder="0" src='blank.jsp'>
    </td>
    <td align="left">
    <iframe id='drilldown_view' name="drilldown_view" width='40%' height="500" frameborder="0" src='blank.jsp'>
    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>

    At a point, the user initiates a call to a servlet, and the output (PAGE_B.jsp) is returned to the first IFRAME report_view.
    PAGE_B.jsp contains HTML anchor tags that call the servlet again, this time the return target is the second IFRAME drilldown_view :
    ( Some Text).
    Clicking the link produces the desired page to be generated and displayed in the correct IFRAME running IE 5.5, however, the same code under NETSCAPE 7.x causes the linked page to open in a new browser window.
    I have deduced that this effect may be due to the NETSCAPE browser thinking that the targeted IFRAME (drilldown_view) should be a child of the IFRAME that contains the link (report_view), instead of another IFRAME belonging to PAGE_A.jsp. Under this circumstance, NETSCAPE cannot find the target, and thus redirects to a new browser window.
    Q: Is there a way to specify the parent of the iframe in the anchors target attribute?

    target in a link shouldn't care, as long as the IFRAME is in the same window... It should be able to find it.
    Otherwise, you could explore using Javascript to get a reference to the object by specifying the path:
    var oIFrame = top.document.getElementById('drilldown_view');
    oIFrame.src = 'somepage.html';
    that could work.. I've used that type of thing before.

  • Is there any way to combine multiple Apple IDs for the same individual?

    I have two Apple IDs, one of which has a .mac email address. Both have the same name and physical address. With the new iTunes and the coming iCloud, it would be convenient to combine the two for purchase history and access, app updates, etc.
    How can I do this?

    So far it seems you can't.
    The only thing that becomes a problem would be purchase history I guess, but you can use Home Sharing in iTunes on your computer to share any purchases from one account to the other.

  • Deploying web applications - jsp generated servlet's may be written over the same file!

    Hi, I have made the following test:
    Created two simple web applications with one jsp page, and deployed it
    with different context names, in weblogic.properties I have:
    weblogic.httpd.webApp.weirdApp=\java\weblogic\myserver\weirdApp.war
    weblogic.httpd.webApp.weirdAppTwo=\java\weblogic\myserver\weirdAppTwo.war
    (Note: I have used two diferent war files, because I have a different
    implementation of the jsp page, I could have used the same warfile, and
    deployed it two times with the same different names I have used)
    These two applications have a jsp named myHomePage.jsp
    If I access the first application, like this:
    http://myServer:7001/weirdApp/myHomePage.jsp
    the servlet for myHomePage is created in
    /java/weblogic/myserver/WEB-INF/_tmp_war/jsp_servlet/_myhomepage.class
    If I access the second application, like this:
    http://myServer:7001/weirdAppTwo/myHomePage.jsp
    the servlet for myHomePage is created in
    /java/weblogic/myserver/WEB-INF/_tmp_war/jsp_servlet/_myhomepage.class
    It overrides the first one! Because the servlets are keeped in memory by
    a different class loader this seems to not affect the other servlet, but
    I am wondering what may happen with this strange beaver from weblogic!

    I have a separate java class that gets my data and returns a Result object. Do you mean java.sql.ResultSet?
    In my main servlet I do the following:
    request.setAttribute("supporttracker",
    supporttracker.findsupporttracker(monthYear));
    and then in my JSP I can iterate through the Result
    like the following with no problems:
    <c:forEach var="supporttracker" begin="0"
    items="${supporttracker.rows}" varStatus="counter">
    My problem is that I can only iterate through this
    once in the page whereas I have no problem doing
    multiple forEach loops through other types of
    lists/collections such as an ArrayList. Right, because a ResultSet is a database cursor and doesn't act the same way that an ArrayList does. It's more like an InputStream - once you read it, you close it. If you want to re-read it, you have to re-initialize it again.
    Iterators behave that way, too. Once you walk through them, you have to re-initialize them.
    I've looked
    on the web and in a couple of books, I first thought
    it may be scope or some attribute in forEach that I
    was missing but I'm stumped. It seems like it's
    because the pointer to the result set is at the end
    of the result set when trying the second iteration,
    but I thought by using the begin="0" would put the
    pointer at the first row again, on my second
    iteration I'm getting no rows/data outputed.
    Please help and thanks in advance!The better thing to do is for your method to return a List of objects, one per row, that represent what the ResultSet returns. Have that method iterate through the ResultSet, loading the rows into the List, and close it before you leave in a finally block. A database cursor is a scarce resource, so it's a good idea to close it as soon as you can.

  • Is a Servlet-Filter which serializes requests in the same user session ok?

    The Servelt specification states that the Web-Application is itself responsible for synchronizing access to HttpSessions. It is from the serversite not possible to prevent multiple threads to access the same HttpSession (i.e. the user could always open a second window, retransmit a form etc). My assumption is that while this does not happen often it can happen and therefore I think each access to the HttpSession must be synchronized. For a further discussion see http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=4&thread=169872 .
    Concurrent programming is generally complicated and errorprone. At least in developing JSPs it is inconvenient and easy to forget. My Web-App uses often HttpSession and it can be used in different not predefined places, so I had the idea to implement a ServletFilter which serializes threads which happen in the same session. This involves certainly some overhead. However for the advantages of easier code maintains and higher consistency I am ready to pay this overhead.
    My question is generally what you think of this approach and second whether the way I implemented the Filter works.
    The Filter actually generates for each Request an HttpServletRequestWrapper which intercepts calls to getSession and on call aquires a Lock so that other threads have to wait for the same Session. The lock is released when the doFilter method of the Filter returns. So threads run concurrently until the first access to the Session and from there they are serialized until the end of the Request.
    For the details I will give the code for the Filter and the Wrapper (that?s all the code needed except the ReentrantLock which is Doug Lea?s implementation http://gee.cs.oswego.edu/dl/classes/EDU/oswego/cs/dl/util/concurrent/intro.html )
    the Filter
    public class SessionThreadFilter implements Filter
      public static final String MUTEXT_IN_SESSION_KEY = "org.jaul.filter.SessionThreadFilter.MUTEX";
      //constructor, init, destroy methods do nothing
      public void doFilter(ServletRequest reqIn,ServletResponse res,FilterChain filterChain)
        throws IOException, ServletException
        //if req not instanceof of HttpRequest don't do anything
        if (!(reqIn instanceof HttpServletRequest))
          filterChain.doFilter(reqIn, res);
        } else
          HttpServletRequest req = (HttpServletRequest) reqIn;
          //We use a HttpRequestWrapper each time a user accesses
          //through this
          //Wrapper a Session is Lock is aquired. The filter method returns
          //the lock if it exists is released
          //each thread needs it's own wrapper so the wrapper itself
          //doesn't have to be synchronized
          SessionThreadRequestWrapper wrapper = new SessionThreadRequestWrapper(req);
          try{
            filterChain.doFilter(wrapper, res);
          }finally{
            ReentrantLock lock = wrapper.getLock();
            if (lock != null && lock.holds() != 0)
                       lock.release(lock.holds());
    the Wrapper
    final public class SessionThreadRequestWrapper extends HttpServletRequestWrapper {
      private ReentrantLock lock = null;
       * Constructor for SessionThreadRequestWrapper.
       * @param arg0
      public SessionThreadRequestWrapper(HttpServletRequest req){

        HttpSession session = getLockFromSession(construct);
        if (session == null) return null;
        //get a lock on the mutex
        try{
          lock.acquire();
        } catch (InterruptedException e){
          throw new IllegalStateException("Interrupted while thread waiting for session");
        //now we check again if the session is still valid
        try{
          session.getAttribute(SessionThreadFilter.MUTEXT_IN_SESSION_KEY);
        } catch (IllegalStateException e){
          //again we go recusively but first release the lock
          lock.release();
          lock = null;
          return getSession(construct);
        //after you got the lock you can return the session
        return session;
       * gets the lock from the session
       * @param construct
       * @return HttpSession
      private HttpSession getLockFromSession(boolean construct){
        //test if it is a new Session
        HttpSession session = super.getSession(construct);
        //if is null no session was realy requested
        if (session == null) return null;
        //otherwise try to get the lock if necessery construct it

          //invalidated in the mean time
          try{
            lock = (ReentrantLock) session.getAttribute(SessionThreadFilter.MUTEXT_IN_SESSION_KEY);
            if (lock == null){
              lock = new ReentrantLock();
              session.setAttribute (SessionThreadFilter.MUTEXT_IN_SESSION_KEY, lock);
            return session;
          } catch (IllegalStateException e){
            //the session has been invalidated before we tried to get the

            //( assumption checked with Jetty: if the session is invalidated
            //and getSession is called on the thread a new valid session
            // should is returend)
            //I hope sometime you should get a valid session but I am not
            //sure. This is crucial for breaking of the recursion
            lock = null;
            return this.getLockFromSession(construct);
      /** used by the Filter to get the lock so that it can release it
      ReentrantLock getLock(){
         return this.lock;
    }As stated I would be very thankful if you could check the code and give some commends.

    synchronized (session){Are you sure that the session instance returned by two
    concurrent calls to getSession(...) are the same? I
    think that tomcat for instance may return different
    instances for the same "logical " session, which would
    break your scheme I think... Thank you (I did not know that on Tomcat). The same thing could also occur if another filter wrapped the Session.
    That's indeed a problem,which I have already adressed in another thread, but did not get an answer. ( http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=33&thread=412380). The already cited thread http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=4&thread=169872 adresses the same problem, but the discussion there ends with the recomandation that you should synchronize on HttpSession as I did it. Also in other forums I've read so.
    However like you I've at least strong doubts in this approach, so now my question is on what should I than generally for any access in any web-app syncrhonize the access to Http-Session as demanded by the Servlet specs.
    A few not realy satisfying answers:
    Synchronize on the HttpSession itself: I think still the best approach, but as you say is it guaranteed that the same instance of an HttpSession is given to each Request (in one Session)?
    Synchronized on the HttpServlet: This only works if no other servlet (or jsp) accesses in the session the value with the same key ( of course only if the session itself is threadsave). In case of ThingleThread it is not possible at all there can be multiple instances (you could use a static variable)
    Holding the object to synchronize on in applicaton scope or session scope: This obiously doesn't help, because somehow you have to obtain the lock and at least there you need another synchronize.Holding in application socpe is slow a static variable lock would be better there.
    Synchronize on some static variable: This will work, but is very slow (each request not only in the same session would synchronize on this).
    Hold a map in application scope, which holds for each Session-key a lock: Is probably faster than the static variable thing. However the access and the management of the Map (removing of unused locks etc.- Mabe you could use a WeakHashMap to collect the locks for not used keys anymore) is time consuming too and again the map must be accessed syncrhonasly by all requests.
    Syncrhonize on the Filter (only in my case): This is as slow as the static variable approach because each request will use the same lock the one instance of the Filter.
    So synchronizing on the session is propably the best approach if the same attribute name is accesed by different servlets. However if you say that some Web-Containers return different HttpSession instances for the same Session (which is legal according to the specification) this of course does not work.
    So I have realy no clue on what to syncrhonize than. Now help is not only neede on my Thread serialization filter but on my generally Servlet prgromming.
    May be you could help me for another synchronization aproach.

  • How can I exit and save my open tags at the same time?

    If I am exiting Firefox, the next time I open it I would like to see the same tags I was working on there. Why I only get the Home page?

    Thanx TonyE for your answer. Unfortunately my Firefox browser's changed. I don't have the yellow/orange Firefox button which would allow me to select the options you point out in your answer. I've gone back to having the same old menu of: File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Yahoo! (?), Tools and Help.
    What I do now, everytime I come back to Firefox, is going through History menu and restore the last session. It works.
    Many thanks for your support.

  • Combine multiple web services with the same SQL query into one

    Hello,
    I would like to ask a question regarding combine multiple similar web services into one. Can you please tell me if it is possible to combine 4-5 web services into one since they built on the same SQL query with 5 different criterias or condition so that the user can enter any of the 5 criterias to populate the data on the form instead of having 5 different web services?
    e.g Query: Select appName, permit#, address, phone, description, type, section, from table where appName = can be 'appName, permit#, address, phone, or description' to populate the rest of the data to the form.
    Does any one have ever done some thing like this in Workbench ES? If so please assist. I know it can be easier to build it in Visual Basic, C#, or dot.net but the requirement is to build it in workbench ES.
    Thanks in advance,
    Han Dao

    If you are querying for Name, PhoneNumber, and SSN, and you queried for all people with a phone number that started with 867, you would have a potentially long list of people.  So to keep track of all of the people, we store each record in XML complex elements.  The root node is just any name you want, and the repeating element is the complex element name.
    So using the example from above, I'm going to specify the following:
         Root Node: Result
         Repeating Element: Person
    So now when I do a query, my resultXML will look like:
    <Result>
          <Person>
                 <Name>Alex</Name>
                 <PhoneNumber>867-5309</PhoneNumber>
                 <SSN>111-11-1111</SSN>
          </Person>
    </Result>
    If your query returned multiple results (like ours would probably), it would look like:
    <Result>
          <Person>
                 <Name>Alex</Name>
                 <PhoneNumber>867-5309</PhoneNumber>
                 <SSN>111-11-1111</SSN>
          </Person>
          <Person>
                 <Name>Han</Name>
                 <PhoneNumber>867-2169</PhoneNumber>
                 <SSN>222-22-2222</SSN>
          </Person>
    </Result>
    So Result and Person is just to give a little bit of structure to the xml result (containers really).  So you can name them whatever is helpful for you.
    The column name mappings map the query columns (Name, PhoneNumber, SSN) to some node in the XML (Name, PhoneNumber, SSN).  So you don't need to specify which field maps to what in the form.  Just copy the column names to the element name so you have a 1-to-1 naming.  If you want to manipulate the XML a bit though, you could do:
    Column Name               Element
    Name                            YourName
    PhoneNumber                Phone
    SSN                              Secret
    which would then make your xml look like:
    <Result>
          <Person>
                 <YourName>Alex</YourName>
                 <Phone>867-5309</Phone>
                 <Secret>111-11-1111</Secret>
          </Person>
    </Result>
    It lets you change the XML element names to whatever you want. Otherwise by default they take on their column names.
    In your form, you could bind to the WSDL through the Data Connections pane and point it to your web service.  This will then create form elements that you can just drag and drop allowing you to have the information available when the service gets ran.  Once the service is called, you can modify the field's data to get whatever information you need in order to populate other form fields.
    If that is too confusing, feel free to send me your form (e-mail is on profile page) and I'll add comments to it to show you how to set up the form for the web service call (and also give me the link to your webservice)
