JSP and RowSetBrowser Bean

I am using BC4J for creating a JSP based application. I want to use RowSetBrowser web bean for listing the records, but I want to show page by page, for example 10 records per page and clciking on next page on NavigatorBar ( another web bean in my jsp page ) that directs me to this page again butr showing the next set of records. Would you please guide me about this.

Hi Joseph
Thanks for your detail reply.
The view has totally 3 rows and I want to restrict page size to 2 rows per page therefore the >> buttom must be active, but it is not. The code is this:
<jsp:useBean class="oracle.jbo.html.databeans.NavigatorBar" id="tb" scope="request" >
<%
tb.setTargetUrl("voPatient_Browse.jsp");
tb.initialize(application,session, request,response,out,"pulmonaryJSP_pulmonary_PulmonaryModule.voPatient");
String sImageBase = "/webapp/images";
tb.setShowNavigationButtons(true);
tb.setImageDir(sImageBase);
tb.addButton(tb.NAVIGATE_FINDFORM , "voPatient_Query.jsp");
tb.addButton(tb.NAVIGATE_BROWSE , "voPatient_Browse.jsp");
tb.addButton(tb.NAVIGATE_INSERT , "voPatient_Insert.jsp");
tb.addButton(tb.NAVIGATE_EDIT , "voPatient_Edit.jsp");
tb.addButton(tb.NAVIGATE_VIEW , "voPatient.jsp");
tb.addButton(tb.NAVIGATE_NEXT_PAGE , "voPatient_Browse.jsp");
tb.addButton(tb.NAVIGATE_PREVIOUS_PAGE , "voPatient_Browse.jsp");
tb.render();
%>
</jsp:useBean>
<br>
<jsp:useBean id="RowSetBrowser" class="oracle.jbo.html.databeans.RowSetBrowser" scope="request">
<%
RowSetBrowser.initialize(pageContext, "pulmonaryJSP_pulmonary_PulmonaryModule.voPatient");
RowSetBrowser.setReleaseApplicationResources(true);
RowSetBrowser.setUseRoundedCorners(false);
RowSetBrowser.setShowCurrentRow(true);
RowSetBrowser.setVisibleRows(2);
RowSetBrowser.render();
%>
</jsp:useBean>
I need your help again
Thanks shahram

    Hi,

I have deployed the page on tomcat and it works fine, except that the sqlinjektion does basically nothing. I have installed the mysql driver. I think there is something wrong with the java class, or the way im calling it. It does not produce any error. But its like it would never actually process the java code, because ive tried to append things to error string to see what is going on, nothing happens. everything stay null, no exceptions are thrown. If I implement the code to JSP itself, it does load the driver and print exception that there is no connection to database (which is correct). What am I missing? Code follows:

  • JSP and Java Beans with Database Problem

    hellow, this is my first posting and i hope to help me as fast as you can...
    my problem is simplly i cant get any data from the database (whatever the database it is, i test it with MS Access and MySQL server) when i use a bean, But if i put my connection statement in the JSP file thair is no problem... ???? !!!!
    for example i have a class "Authentication" that have a method to test if the username and password is correct or not and return 1 if true, 0 if false, -1 if thair are some problem in connecting DB.
    now if i create a normal java application that uses this method, it's work and no problems, BUT if i used a JSP page to use this method it's return allways -1

    }please help me and tellme what the hell is wrong with it or me. im getting an error:
    exception
    org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Cannot create bean of class Counter

    Java is already telling you what is wrong: it cannot create an instance of your Counter class. The reason being: it can't find it.
    What do you mean by "myPackage"? Before you can use any class in your JSP's or servlets, they MUST be stored in a package. If you don't know what that is, I highly suggest you lookup "java package" and "java classpath" using google.
    Let's say your Counter class is in a package mypackage (so it starts with the line package mypackage;). Then you have to store the .class file as:
    WEB-INF/classes/mypackage/Counter.class
    If done correctly, the error message should disappear.

  • First use of jsp and java bean and "Unable to compile class for JSP" error

    Hi,
    I am trying to create my first jsp + java bean and I get a basic error (but I have no clue what it depends on exactly). Tomcat seems to cannot find my class file in the path. Maybe it is because I did not create a web.xml file. Did I forgot to put a line in my jsp file to import my bean?
    Thank you very much for your help.
    Here is my error:
    An error occurred at line: 2 in the jsp file: /login.jsp
    Generated servlet error:
    [javac] Compiling 1 source file
    /usr/local/tomcat/jakarta-tomcat-5/build/work/Catalina/localhost/test/org/apache/jsp/login_jsp.java:43: cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : class CMBConnect
    location: class org.apache.jsp.login_jsp
    CMBConnect test = null;
    I only have this in my directory:
    test/login.jsp
    test/WEB-INF/classes/CMBConnect.java
    test/WEB-INF/classes/CMBConnect.class
    Do I need to declare another directory in classes to put my class file in it and package my bean differently?
    Here is my login.jsp:
    <%@ page errorPage="error.jsp" %>
    <jsp:useBean id="test" type="CMBConnect" scope="session" />

    <h3>Login information</h3>
    <b><%=session.getValue("customerinfo.message")%></b>
    <form> ....... </form>
    </body>
    </html>
    and here is my CMBConnect.java:
    import java.sql.Connection;
    import java.sql.DriverManager;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    public class CMBConnect
    public CMBConnect () { }
    public String openConnection(String id, String password) {
    String returnText = "";
    try {
    Connection con = null;
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@myserver.abc.com:1521:TEST", id, password);

    returnText = "Cannot connect to Oracle server using TCP/IP...";
    else
    returnText = "Connection successful";
    } catch (Exception e) { returnText = returnText + e; }
    return returnText;
    Thanks again!

  • Help me to control the transactions from jsp to java bean

    Please anyone can guide me how to control the transactions from jsp to java bean. I am using the Websphere studio 5.1 to develop the database application. I would like to know two method to handle the database. First, I would like to know how I can control the transactions from jsp by using java bean which is auto generated for SQL statement to connect to the database. Following code are jsp and java bean.....
    // call java bean from jsp

    addCourse.execute(yr,sem,stdid,course,sec);
    I write this loop in jsp to call java bean..
    here is java bean for AddCourse.java
    package com.abac.preregist.courseoperation;
    import java.sql.*;
    import com.ibm.db.beans.*;

    I would like to know that how can I do for autocommit from jsp. For example, the looping is 10 times which mean I will add 10 records to the db. If the last record is failed to add to db, "how can I rollback the perivious records?" or guide me to set the commit function to handle that case. Thanks a lot for take your time to read my question.

    Hello.
    The best method is using a session bean and container managed transactions. Other method is using sessions bean and the user transaction object (JTA-JTS).
    so, JDBC has transaction management too.
    good luck.

  • How to upload a file into server using j2ee jsp and servlet with bean?

    How to upload a file into server using j2ee jsp and servlet with bean? Please give me the reference or url about how to do that. If related to struts is more suitable.
    Anyone help me please!

    u don't need j2ee and struts to do file uploading. An example is as such
    in JSP. u use the <input> file tag like
    <input type="file"....>You need a bean to capture the file contents like
    class FileUploadObj {
        private FormFile srcFile;
        private byte[] fileContent;
        // all the getter and setter methods
    }Then in the servlet, you process the file for uploading
        * The following loads the uploaded binary data into a byte Array.
        FileUploadObj form = new FileUploadObj();
        byte[] byteArr = null;
        if (form.signFile != null) {
            int filesize = form.srcFile.getFileSize();
            byteArr = new byte[filesize];
            ByteArrayInputStream bytein = new ByteArrayInputStream (form.srcFile.getFileData());
            bytein.read(byteArr);
            bytein.close();
            form.setFileContent(byteArr);
        // Write file content using Writer class into the destination file in the server.

  • Help on JSP and Beans!

    Hi! I am new to JSP and I need help on how to utilize java bean on JSP. I have gone through this forum, I found similar question but did not find any answer that could solve my question. Tons of thanks to anyone who could help me out!
    I have a java bean class called Bean1, which I put under /ROOT/WEB-INF/classes/, and a JSP file that utilizes class Bean1, saved under /ROOT/, which should be a correct way indicated by several posts I found in this forum. But when I try to compile the JSP file over TOMCAT4.1 over http://localhost:8080/beanexample1.jsp, it throws me a lot of error messages (see below). I've been struggling for so long. Any help is greatly apprecitated! Thanks!

    you need to put your bean in a package. do this by
    making a sub directory under the classes directory,
    let's say you call it "mybeans".
    so copy Bean1.java to
    /ROOT/WEB-INF/classes/Bean1.java
    add the line "package mybeans;"
    to the top of the Bean1.java file,
    and then compile it there.
    the standard way to use the bean in your jsp file is like this:
    <jsp:useBean id="thisbean" scope="page" class="mybeans.Bean1" />
    this <jsp:usebean> tag instantiates the bean for you.
    then refer to it by its id:
    thisbean.myMethod();
    thisbean.setProperty();

    Do you understand when a NullPointerException will be thrown? This will be thrown if you want to access an uninstantiated Object.
    So look to the stacktrace and go to the line where the NPE is been thrown and doublecheck if the object reference is actually instantiated.
    Or add a null-check to the object reference:if (someObject != null) {
        someObject.doSomething();
    }or just instantiate it:if (someObject == null) {
        someObject = new SomeObject();
    someObject.doSomething();

  • Passing values between JSP and Bean

    I am trying to validate a date entered by the user on a form. I need to do an "alert" when the user enters a date outside of the valid range depending on a value entered in a drop down.
    Am doing this in checkform function. Here is what I want to do:
    1. Send the the value from the drop down and the date to bean to do the calculations. Call the EJB function from checkform.
    2. Get a string values back into the jsp from the bean
    3. Blow an error to the user to enter a valid date.
    Any help in this case would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    I only see some design requirements.
    What's the exact coding question? Where are you stucking while coding those requirements accordingly?

  • Please recommend IDE for JSP and Beans

    Hi guys,
    I am looking for a decent IDE to work with JSP and Beans. I have tried JBuilder which has too much going on at the same time and I find it to be an overkill for what I am doing; I find NetBeans kind of irritating. I develop web applications, hence I dont need any GUI stuff for beans.
    Just looking for something that will enable me to rapidly develop beans as a support system for JSP pages and at the same time, it should provide good support for coding JSP pages. Little bit of management functions wont hurt either, but are not required. I dont mind if I have to pay for the IDE. Any recommendations?

    I like Eclipse for Java Development, and I use the MyEclipse plug-in for J2EE development.
    There is a free J2EE plug-in (Lomboz) but I'd much rather pay the $29.99/year for MyEclipse. It's been perfect for me.

  • Problem with JSP and Java Servlet Web Application....

    Hi every body....
    I av developed a web based application with java (jsp and Java Servlets)....

    Plz gave me solution...
    Thanx looking forward Adnan

    You need to elaborate "not working" in developer's perspective instead of in user's perspective.

  • Deploying a WAR file containing .jsp and servlets (also uses JNI)

    Deploying a WAR file containing .jsp and servlets (also uses JNI) on Windows 2000
    We had problems making it initially work on Sun ONE Web Server 6.0 Service Pack 1 because of lack of good iPlanet Web
    Server documentation on deploying such files.
    This is how we went about it:
    1) Make one of the servlet and JSP (must call another Java Class) web application (.war) examples work with iPlanet Web
    Server.
    C:\iPlanet\Servers\plugins\servlets\examples\web-apps\HelloWorld\HelloWorld.war
    and
    C:\iPlanet\Servers\plugins\servlets\examples\web-apps\jakarta-examples\jarkarta-examples.war
    a) Go to your Web Server Administration to deploy the application using GUI Web Application Deploy.
    (We usually use command line, we experienced some issues with the GUI version, but maybe it is fixed in the new Web Server
    service packs)
    From browser, open http://yourserver:8888/
    Click on Select a Server:Manage
    Click on Virtual Server Class
    Click on https-yourserver
    Click on the Web Applications Tab
    Then, click on Deploy Web Application
    Enter the following -
    WAR File On: Local
    WAR File Path: C:\iPlanet\Servers\plugins\servlets\examples\web-apps\jakarta-examples\jarkarta-examples.war
    Application URI: /jakarta
    Installation Directory: c:\iPlanet\examples\jakarta-examples
    By clicking on OK it deployed the application.
    I can verify that it is deployed by selecting "Edit Web Applications" and I see the following entry:
    Edit     /jakarta     c:/iPlanet/examples/jakarta-examples
    Also, c:/iPlanet/examples/jakarta-examples should have the similar following directory structure ..
    - [images]
    - [jsp]
    - index.html
    - [servlets]
    - [META-INF]
    - [WEB-INF]
    - [classes]
    - [tlds]
    - web.xml
    - index.html
    I restarted the server and accessed it using the following URL from my IE browser:
    http://yourserver/jakarta/index.html
    Then I clicked on the JSP Examples and tried some JSP examples.
    b) Alternatively, you can also deploy the same example from the command-line.
    Make sure C:\iPlanet\Servers\bin\https\httpadmin\bin\ is in your path
    wdeploy deploy      -u /jakarta
              -i yourserver
              -v https-yourserver
              -d c:\iplanet\examples\jakarta-examples
              C:\iPlanet\Servers\plugins\servlets\examples\web-apps\jakarta-examples\jarkarta-examples.war
    Restart the web server (I don't think you have to restart, but .. might as well).
    2)Deploy your web-application
    My Foo.war has the following structure.
    You can use jar tf Foo.war to look at the file contents from command line (assuming you have JDK installed and the bin is
    in your PATH)
    Foo.war
    - [META-INF]
    - [WEB-INF]
    - web.xml
    - [classes]
    - Bar.class
    - MoServlet.class
    - [lib]
    - ThirdParty.jar
    - [natlib]
    - extlib.dll
    - foo.jsp
    Here is our application scenario:
    foo.jsp uses a class call Bar (it is not in any package). The Bar java class uses classes from ThirdParty.jar. The
    ThirdParty.jar in turn uses JNI to load library extlib.dll. foo.jsp also calls /servlet/Mo as well.
    Now to deploy it, do the following:
    (a) Make sure that within foo.jsp, you import the Bar class ( I don't know why you have to do it, but if you don't you get
    JSP compile error).
    <%@page language="java" import="Bar" contentType="text/html"%>
    (b) Check web.xml (for Servlets)
    Within web.xml, make sure you have the following mappings:
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name> MoLink </servlet-name>
    <servlet-class> MoServlet </servlet-class>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name> MoLink </servlet-name>
    <url-pattern> /servlet/Mo </url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    (c) Deploy the application
    Using command line:
    wdeploy deploy      -u /foo
              -i yourserver
              -v https-yourserver
              -d c:\iplanet\examples\foo-dir
              Foo.war
    (d) Change web-apps.xml file (for picking up ThirdParty.jar)
    It is located in
    C:\iPlanet\Servers\https-yourserver\config
    You should see something similar to following after successful deployment.
    <web-app uri="/foo" dir="C:\iPlanet\examples\foo-dir" enable="true"/>
    Change it to look like following to pick up the ThirdParty.jar
    <web-app uri="/foo" dir="C:\iPlanet\examples\foo-dir" enable="true">
    <class-loader reload-interval="300"
              classpath="C:/iPlanet/examples/foo-dir/WEB-INF/lib/ThirdParty.jar"
              delegate="false"/>
    </web-app>
    (e) Change jvm12.conf file (for JNI)
    It is located in
    C:\iPlanet\Servers\https-yourserver\config
    Add or uncomment the following lines:
    #optional - just helps with instrumenting the jsp and servlet code
    jvm.include.CLASSPATH=1
    jvm.enableDebug=1
    nes.jsp.enabledebug=1
    jvm.trace=7
    jvm.verboseMode=1
    #required for JNI
    java.compiler=NONE
    jvm.classpath=.;C:\JDK1.3.1\lib\tools.jar;C:/iPlanet/Servers/plugins/servlets/examples/legacy/beans.10/SDKBeans10.jar;
    jvm.option=-Xrs
    jvm.option=-Xnoagent
    # not sure if this is needed for iPlanet web server
    jvm.option=-Djava.library.path=C:/iPlanet/examples/foo-dir/natlib/ -Djava.compiler=NONE
    (f) Change magnus.conf file (for JNI)
    We HAD to change this file in order for ThirdParty.jar file to pick up the native C++ code using JNI. Apparently, the
    iPlanet Web Server doesn't pick the Environment Variable Path. Because when we had the directory containing the DLL just
    in Path, it didn't work.
    Change Extrapath directive:
    ExtraPath C:/iPlanet/Servers/bin/https/bin;${NSES_JRE_RUNTIME_LIBPATH}
    to
    ExtraPath c:/iPlanet/examples/foo-dir/natlib;C:/iPlanet/Servers/bin/https/bin;${NSES_JRE_RUNTIME_LIBPATH}
    (g) Apply changes from the Web Server Administration Console and Restart the web server.
    You should be able to see the behaviour that you want from your application.
