JSP compiler failure under Fedora Core 6

I recently upgraded a Linux Fedora Core 5 system to Fedora
Core 6. I had a working JRun4 setup working perfectly under FC5 and
it no longer works. I realize that this is an unsupported platform,
but it seems like it is fairly close to working correctly.
Pages that were compiled under the old system work just fine.
When the system tries to compile a new page, however, I get the
following error:

Anyone have a clue about what might be going wrong?

I guess I should have worked a little harder before posting.
All I had to do was create the directory "classes" under the JRE
and now everything works fine. I don't have a clue why this would
be the case. Anyone else?

  • JSP with JDBC on Fedora Core

    Hi all,
    I have Windows XP and Fedora Core Project 1 on my PC. I am trying to learn JSP and JDBC. I am using Wrox's Professional JSP book for reference.
    I was able to executed the code successfully on Windows XP with SQL Server 2000 as database. I tried to execute the same code on Linux with MySQL 3.2.23 and J2SDK1.4.2. For that I also downloaded MySQL/Connector-J drivers. I modified the classpath to include the driver file (.jar) in it. But I get error "Authentication Failure for use root". I have exactly as it was written in the book. I am looking for some suggestion on this. If any one can help, that would be great. Also, let me know if any more information is needed.

    howdy,
    from where u get this error ? it seems to be from ur linux box, or Mysql !
    can u connect to ur Mysql database in a standalone/sample application ? [just test it]

  • Has anyone successfully installed LAbView 8 under Fedora Core 5 (FC5) ?

    I've been having difficulty installing LV 8 under FC5. Previously I have had great success with LV 7.1 under FC4. The error messages are very generic and are mostly of the "unable to find file" variety. Looking for any comments from the zone...

    Scott,
    I hate to be the bearer of bad news but LabVIEW not officially supported in FC. I tell you this because I don't want you to spend hours and hours on development only to find out at the 11th hour that stuff may not work. For a listing of supported distributions see this article. We also have a page dedicated to Linux found here. Let us know if you have futher questions.... and I agree with you... this LabVIEW 8 is a thing of beauty!

  • Tuxedo 8.1 on Fedora Core 1?

    Hi all,
    I guess this is more a Linux question than Tuxedo one.
    It is not important as I have dual boot and no current problems with XP Pro and
    our target platform is AIX anyway, but I'd like to set up Tuxedo under RedHat
    Fedora core 1. I attempted this but the installer had a problem with the version
    of the C runtime library. The error from memory was something like... version
    on glibc not 2.0 installer requires version 2.0 or something like that.
    I know that the supported version of RedHat Linux is serveral versions back from
    Fedora like RH 7.x or 8 or 9. Is there someway to convince an application that
    the version of a *.so shared object is older than it is? Has anyone got Tuxedo
    to run under Fedora Core 1?
    Is there a quick and dirty work around hack?
    Like I said its not too important... I'd just like to work in AIX and Linux environment
    rather than a Windows XP Pro and AIX one.
    But then I'll miss out on all those virii and random lock ups.
    Thanks,
    Regan Russell BSc.

    I installed a complete copy of Fedora Core 4 and got the server running. But i ran into some problems. JRockit did not work, and some file functions in WLI did not work. Since we did not get any support from Bea because we were running Fedora we installed Red Hat Enterprise instead. If we'd figured out the file thing we would still be running on Fedora. We have not had any other problems.
    Cheers,
    Thomas

  • JSP Compile problem with WLS 5.1 sp9

    Hi All,
              The attached, simple JSP file uses a custom tag, and some JavaScript. When
              this is compiled into Java, the Java that is created is Bad. It seems as if
              WLS is having problems properly escaping single-quotes and double-quotes.
              Also attached, is the generated Java file. Note around line 82, and compare
              that to around line 15 of the JSP.
              Does anyone have an idea what can be done to fix this? This JSP compiles
              fine under Tomcat 3.2.

  • Sjsws 7 sp5 on fedora core 10 compile error on php 5.2.9

    I am trying to compile php 5.2.9 and get the following error during make: sapi/nsapi/nsapi.c:62:19: error: nsapi.h: No such file or directory

    assuming you have installed web server 7 under /opt/iplanet/current (by choosing /opt/iplanet/current) within web server 7 installer, then php 5.2.9 installation along with its nsapi plugin should go through fine by doing
    ./configure --with-nsapi=/opt/iplanet/current
    you can verify this by looking for /opt/iplanet/current/include/nsapi.h . if you didn't find there, then you web server 7 installation did not go through successfully.
    on a side note, you might always want to use the gd that bundles within php. for example, enabling this directive causes php to use the bundled gd
    '--enable-gd-jis-conv' '--enable-gd-native-ttf'
    otherwise you will run into weird issues.

  • BUG: JSP Compiler Inconsistency in handling EL under Jdev 10.1.3.0.4.3673

    I think I have a reproducible test case for exposing this problem. Follow these steps in Jdev 10.1.3 production.
    1) Create new Web Project, give it a name, next
    2) Select Servlet 2.3, then next
    3) Check Add JSP Page, next, finish
    4) Accept defaults for new JSP page, click finish
    5) Open JSP Component Palette and drag Taglib Directive onto the new JSP page.
    6) Select JSTL Core 1.0, click OK
    7) Paste this in the body: <c:set var="bogus" value="something"/> Test: ${bogus}
    8) Right click, run. The page will have this output: Test: ${bogus}
    9) Modify the JSP to force a recompile, save, refresh the browser
    The output will change with the EL expression evaluated properly: Test: something
    The JSP compiled before oc4j starts does not behave the same as the JSP recompiled within oc4j. A bug?

    Please disregard the j2ee vs. studio comment. It was because I opened and ran the same project in the studio version without recompiling the jsp under Jdev. The compiled jsp was left over from my previous run of oc4j.
    Again, the problem is present in both editions.

  • Javax.sound missing with Fedora Core 3 linux's java compiler?

    I'm running Fedora core 3, and I did a complete install(selected all the packeges). I have the java compiler that FC3 installed. I can compile most things, but I seem to be missing the sound package/folder.
    This leads to an error when I try to import the sound libraries.
    //start code
    //simple non-working example
    import javax.sound.*;
    class sounds
    //end code
    results in the error "The import javax.sound cannot be resolved"
    I am trying to run a code snippet from javaAlmanac, and of course it won't work. Today, a friend of mine had the exact same problem on a windows machine using JDK 1.5.
    I'm going to test this code out on a windows machine also.
    Are there issues with the FC3 java compiler?
    Has anyone else run into and solved this issue?
    I'm considering copying the sound folder from some other Java installation, anyone try this?
    Thanks,

    I'm pretty new at this myself. I've also installed Fedora Core 3 on an AMD 64. When I do the same uname - a I get:
    Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.9-1.667 #1 Tue Nov 2 14:50:10 EST 2004 x86_64 x8 6_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
    Maybe you didn't install as 64 bit ?
    I've also successfully installed Jave Runtime Environment. java -version gets me:
    java version "1.4.2_08"
    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_08-b03)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_08-b03, mixed mode)
    I'd suggest installing 32 bit. I can't tell the difference when I run programmes that use 64 or 32 bits - it will be just as good.

  • Oracle 10g on Fedora Core 5

    Is there a pre-packaged version of Fedora Core 5 which includes Oracle 10g for Linux?
    This way, all you have to do is select Install Oracle 10g and it includes any special packages for installing Oracle 10g. Plus, after installation, it automatically starts up the Oracle 10g installer. It could even do the pre-installation stuff such as creating the oracle user. I do not know how, but this oracle user would be the only user using an old gcc compatible with Oracle software. Via its environment maybe?
    Right now, it is a Pain-in-the-neck to install Oracle on Linux. The installation guide Oracle provides is not enough. You have to do a search on the web for pages detailing more info. Or you have to install a special file or set variables to make the Oracle installer think it is installing on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. I have to hide the gcc that comes with Linux and install an old verison of it. At one time, I even had to compile a library so the java installer could run. This is ridiculous, I should not have to jump through hurdles to install Oracle.
    Does anyone out there have such a set of Fedora Core 5 ISO images? Shoot, FC4 would do too.

    No. I'm not particular to Fedora. Fedora has been a distribution which works on my (please don't laugh) emachines computer at home. I've had Oracle 9i enterprise installed on fedora core 3.
    Ubuntu and Debian are good distros as well. I have not been successfull with Suse though.
    Suse in the past -- the installer could not get the graphics correct -- garbage just displays -- so i could never install it. Maybe SuSe 10 has improved since then.
    I found this about Suse and Oracle. So, this may work for me. Otherwise, i will try Centos.
    http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/tip/16193.html
    Thanks for the info.

  • Oracle Linux Calendar 9.0.4.2/10 and Fedora Core 5

    Hi folks --
    I recently migrated from FC4 to FC5 (did a fresh install), and to my chagrin, the Oracle Calendar linux client install is now broken. This was running fine under both FC4 and RHEL 4. Here is the error I receive on any of the installs (silent/text/graphical):
    [root@pcalarco OracleCalendar_inst]# sh silent_install.sh
    Preparing to install...
    Extracting the JRE from the installer archive...
    Unpacking the JRE...

    I know Fedora Core isn't officially supported, but does anyone have a solution for this? Are these just path errors for the JRE as in previous problems with Fedora?
    Also, does Oracle Calendar 10 run any better in FC5?
    Many thanks in advance!

    --------------------------------------------------

    I did some searching, and found that this is a common problem with many applications migrating from FC4 to FC5. This problem is caused due to incompatibility of the installer's Java Run-time Environment with certain system libraries.
    In order to solve this, run these commands on the {OracleCalendar_install/cal_linux_904 file:
    $ cp cal_linux_904 cal_linux_904.bak
    $ cat cal_linux_904.bak | sed "s/export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL/#xport LD_ASSUME_KERNEL/" > cal_linux_904
    $ rm cal_linux_904.bak
    Now the installers work fine.

  • How to Install SJAS on a Fedora Core 4 box

    I've had my share of headaches making SJAS work well on an FC4 box, and as there was no good "how-to" on the install, I've compiled the following from trial and error. Hope this is of some use:
    Installing Sun Java App Server on FC4:
    1) First, start with a Fedora Core 4 box, running with at least 1GB of RAM. This is the minimum recommended configuration for Sun Java Application server, and its associated programs. Load balancing uses a lot more resources (minimum recommended config is 2GB RAM) but on a stand-alone box, 1GB will do. Ensure you've got disk space and connectivity to the net, especially DNS.
    2) Copy over the following files to the box. You'll need all of these for the install:
    o compat-libstdc++-296-2.96-132.fc4.i386.rpm - compatibility library needed for FC4, or else the install will crash but won't tell you about it.
    o compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-47.fc4.i386.rpm - another compatibility library needed
    o jdk-1_5_0_02-linux-i586.rpm - the JDK as the Java Application server needs Java to run.
    o java_es_05Q4_msgserver-ga-linux-x86.zip appx 340MB, and is the download which installs SJAS, the web server with load balancer plugin, the directory server, etc.
    3) Do an rpm -iv on the compat-libstdc* compat libraries.
    4) Do an rpm -iv on the jdk.
    5) Link the java executibles to /usr/bin by typing "ln -sf /usr/java/jdk1.5.0_02/bin/* /usr/java". If you installed a different version of the JDK, put in that version instead of 1.5.0.02.
    6) Edit your /etc/hosts file. By default, the FC4 install maps your hostname of your box onto localhost / 127.0.0.1. Take this hostname off of 127.0.0.1 so that the only name mapped to 127.0.0.1 is localhost. Then, on the IP address you plan on installing SJAS onto, map the hostname and the fully-qualified domain name to that address. An example /etc/hosts/ file that has worked is:
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    192.168.99.203 iloapp01.scientology.net iloapp01
    7) Unzip the java_es_05Q4_msgserver-ga-linux-x86.zip file into a directory using the "unzip" command.
    8) Go into the java_es_05Q4/Linux_x86 directory just created, and run ./installer
    9) This will then pop up a graphical installer, if you are running this directly on the server. If running via a console, type ./installer -nodisplay which will pop up the installer in text mode.
    10) Click through the installer until you get to the packages list. Install all of the packages, unless there is a specific reason for the server you're working with that you don't want one or another of the packages.
    11) When it asks you if you want to configure now or configure later, click configure now.
    12) Page through all of the proceeding pages of questions, entering master passwords when it asks you to. If it hangs on the first screen, asking for a valid IP address and/or hostname, you either (a) didn't specifiy a valid address which is configured on that box, or (b) you messed up on the /etc/hosts file config above. All you want in the "hostname" field is the server name (i.e. "iloapp01") and all you want in the domain name field is the base domain (i.e. "scientology.net"). That will work.
    13) Finish the install wizard and let it exit gracefully.
    14) After it finishes the install, you should be able to start each of the services on the box without issue.
    o You need the Sun Directory Server for authentication. To start the directory server, run /opt/sun/sbin/directoryserver start, which should work without a hitch. Check if it's working and on by doing a ps -ef | grep slapd and see if the slapd process is running (the LDAP server, needed for authentication).
    o Test-start the admin console by running /opt/sun/sbin/mpsadmserver start. This should hang for a little while (unless you have a preposterously fast machine) and then report that it's started. If it didn't work, it will tell you "it hasn't been configured" or some such.
    o Start the app server by going to /opt/sun/appserver/bin and typing asadmin start-appserv --user admin. You should then be able to start the admin server after typing the master password.
    If this all works, you have a Sun Java Application Server installed, as well as the Directory Server to support it and allow for authentication. For more details on what do do from here, see the Getting SJAS Enterprise Edition to work on an Application Server page.

  • Fedora core 6 sun app server won't start

    Sun app server 8.2 bundled with creator 2u1 doesn't start. This install was running fine under fc5. Among other things I get the following with pe-start -reset which I think might be the crust of the problem:
    "Unable to read system environment. No system environment will be used."
    Any help appreciated.

    Exported projects to nb5.5 with visual-web pack and after fixing datasources and libraries things are working again. Could not find a solution for Creator2 on Fedora Core 6. Thanks anyway.
